Nice spacious flat. Small kitchen area but adequate. Easy access to seafront and some lovely places to run and walk. Short bus ride to Scarborough Centre with it's pubs, restaurants, theatres and other entertainment. Walking distance to some pubs serving good food and real ale, including the Cask where we went to a jazz evening and a quiz night.
Had to walk down fire escape stairs and out through back gate to get rid of rubbish. I can't think of a better solution as the flat is on the first floor.
Chandelier style lighting in living area was too bright. I was tempted to remove a couple of lamps but didn't. Perhaps install dimmer switch?

Convenient location. Warm and cosy.
Good views and facilities.
Everything you need for a week stay.
Unfortunately the cleaners had not been in before we arrived. But this was quickly rectified after a phone call.

Location fantastic
No coat hangers in the hall/kitchen area
The extractor fan in bathroom is fitted wrongly and blows air inwards, therefore the bathroom remains damp. The towels coundn't dry.

We had a lovely couple of nights in Whitby. Great location right in the middle of the town. It was very peaceful. Used the long stay car park nearby.

Good location, clean.
Extremely annoyed to be charged extra money to cover possible damage. This was not in the headline price and we were asked for the money after the cancellation period. We have stayed in many holiday properties and never had the key withheld until we agreed to the extra charges.

The apartment is a fantastic space and very comfortable and it is in a great location.
The bathroom toilet had serious issues and a plumber had to be called out. The doorbell didn't work so the plumber had to contact Host and Stay to telephone us. After the plumber cleaned the soiled toilet that we discovered on arrival and repaired the flushing system we found that the bath plug mechanism didn't work so had to get a knife from the kitchen to pull the metal plug up. The kitchen sink area was stained as were all the mugs and the dining table. We contacted Host and Stay with regard to parking as it stated on my confirmation that free parking was possible nearby, no need to book. Host and Stay sent us the nearest public parking which we knew about anyway and used and paid for. When we got back to the apartment there were parking permits on top of the microwave in the kitchen. I had reams of emails from Host and Stay over the period we were there and when I put all of this in a quick email to them they sent a reply of best wishes. When I spoke to anyone at Host and Stay it sounded as if I was speaking to someone in a different country. It is such a lovely spacious comfortable place but there were maintainance and cleaning issues which I hope have now been dealt with.

The property was beautiful and very well maintained and developed with a classic style. The facilities were really good and the location was excellent, for what we needed. The main living areas were stylish and thankfully the heating was very efficient.
The bathroom was not very clean, in comparison with the rest of the property. The toilet did not flush properly. There were extra charges made by the company, which were not expected and should be made clear at the time of the booking rather than just before you are due to arrive.

I must express my disappointment in the property.
On arrival on Friday, we followed the instructions and entered the property through the metal gate, walking past a wooden pallet, lots of rubbish in the passage and general mess, we finally got the front door in the dreary passageway. Upon entering the property, it was immediately clear that the cleaning was not up to standard for an Airbnb property. The food mess left on the table and chairs, the splats of drinks on the staircase, the thick dust throughout the property can only be an accumulation of months of neglect. The carpets had hairs, food and dust and clearly not been hovered.
We found wooden spoons with hard crusted food, a bowl and roasting trays with mold stuck to it, fingerprints all over the microwave and a filthy oven. We found ourselves having to clean everything we needed to use beforehand as we couldn’t trust anything.
Bedrooms had used ear buds on the floor, in the drawers and hairs in the bathrooms, FILTHY

The location was perfect and the apartment was lovely
I didn't like that the bins in the bedroom and bathroom still had rubbish in from the people who had been in there before us. I had to wash the crockery before use as it was far from clean and we had no light in the bathroom. We were also not advised that there would be parking permits even though I rang host and stay to check on parking they told me it is not available at the property so we paid for three nights parking only to walk in and find permits available. Host and stay charge a £25 non refundable deposit in the event of any incidents. On raising my issues with them I requested this back due to the problems we experienced, they have refused this saying I should have reported during our stay. I replied I don't want to spend my short break dealing with problems that should not have occurred in the first place. It is a shame because the apartment is ideal, but due to these issues and host and stays attitude I wouldn't book again.

The apartment was very spacious, clean and nicely dressed. Easy check in, great parking. Location, view of the sea to one side. Hosts were great and very attentive before and during my stay. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
These are tiny minor suggestions that may improve but wouldn't stop me staying here again.
Maybe a curtain or blind at the kitchen window, fitted sheets on the bed rather than flat sheets and possibly a mattress protector.
Heating was mildly difficult to work out but got it sorted.

The property is light and airy and very spacious. The location was excellent as it was well away from the noise and bustle of town and right up on the Esplanade.
Well appointed with everything we needed.

The size of the apartment and the location. We like walking so there's plenty of that.
There were a couple of issues which Host and Stay are addressing as windows needed to open better. All in all a good stay. I paid extra to have damage waiver ...not sure this should be necessary.

Lack of utensils for 6 people
Fridge frozen and smelt taped up with parcel tape!
Unable to use the kettle due to the line scale we we had to boil pans of water to make a cup of tea!! Wet dangerous as they’re metal pans so when we went to pour the water into the cup the water would spit everywhere when it came up to the cooler metal as it was pouring out!!
Dirty plates and cutlery - we had to wash everything and clean before using anything.
Broken lock on toilet in the lounge resulting in people getting locked in - this is seriously dangerous! Broken toilet seat in one of the en-suites
fecal smell In the attic bathroom coming from the toilet
Guttering overgrown preventing water from dispersing due to the bed weather as it was blocked resulting in a waterfall effect making it impossible at night to sleep
The back door off the lounge handle on the outside is loose and comes out.
Dirty property, dust everywhere no sweeping brush to tidy up or dustpan and brush
The inside bin was filthy and took bleach to clean it must have been like that a while the smell made me heave! It literally had a bin bag over the dirt and grime. Incorrect information regarding the waste collection - very confusing and then we were woken by the bin men on Friday morning! If we’d have known we would have placed the bin outside, the night before or even warning would have been helpful! The drawer in the washing machine was thick with mould and as a result made the washing mac

We were disappointed with our stay. The place needs a deep clean and freshen up. Marks on the walls, kitchen dirty with food in the draining board etc. One of the toilets broke, I messaged to get it fixed and 2 days later nobody had been out. We were leaving the next day so told them to leave it. Also, the bathroom door on the middle floor locks you in. I’ve since looked at reviews on different sites and the toilet breaking and door locking are mentioned quite often so I don’t understand why they don’t fix the issues.
Maybe we didn’t read into the property enough but there is no hand wash provided in any of the 3 toilets and the stairs are really steep. We didn’t realise the place was set on 4 floors which we found a pain.
The location is great though. You couldn’t be more central.
We we just disappointed mainly with the cleanliness and upkeep of the property. Such a shame.

The location was absolutely amazing. Sea view, italian gardens close by, even the children playground area in the cliff gardens. I visited in march, and will definitely do my best to book this apartment in warmer months. Everything was clean, the beds were super comfortable. Me and my 8 year old daughter loved how many books and board games were available in the flat ( great bonus;)) .
Definitely recommend for an easy, chilled out vacation time.

Stayed for a long weekend - two couples and 2 children.
Great location, close to amenities and plenty of exploring opportunities in walking distance.
Property was as pictured although it felt a little unclean - crumbs in kitchen, dirty mirrors and hair, but the beds were comfortable and we all slept well.
Downstairs bathroom latch was broken so beware not to get trapped inside!
Overall we enjoyed our mini getaway and Whitby is a beautiful place.

Location was fabulous, just a 10 minute walk to the beach. Great views walking to the beach.
Apartment was home from home. Contemporary decorated and had everything you'd need. Liked the little luxury touches such as the soaps. Heating was very easy to use since we visited in Feb !
I wish there had been blinds on the windows. The living area/kitchen in particular. However livingroom did have curtains.

The property was very clean and had a very homely feel to it, we all settled in straight away. the view out the living room was great, we could see the sea. The beds were very comfortable.
Thought the property was in a great location and was in easy walk of the sea front and access to town and enjoyed our walks down to the sea front.
We had no problem parking either.
would definitely stay here again and would recommend to family and friends.
Nothing to dislike.

Positives - a good very central location, clean bedding & comfy beds.
Negatives - parking in high season is a massive issue, there is an unloading bay near but do not think you'll get a spot in the car park - we ended up parked about a mile away! The place is in need of some maintenance, but has a rustic charm. Not easy to find - look for the black unlabelled gate opposite the yellow fossil shop, the cottage is down the alley, not directly on Grape Lane.

Location is right in the heart of old Whitby’s winding streets. Fantastic to be able to walk anywhere but it does mean once you’re in, you’re in as there’s no outdoor space or views. It also means parking is a way away but manageable.
A large house which is well equipped and plenty of space for a family stay.

very clean and comfortable with everything you could ask for. great location
would have helped if we could have checked in earlier. we had a booking for later that evening and having travelled 2 hours to get there it was a lot of waiting around and then a rush. Would have helped if we could have just left our bags and put the car parking pass on to leave the car.

Large clean apartment, very well equipped with good quality stuff. Close to the coastal path leading down to the beach etc. lots of street parking with permit provided. Good email & text comms however no human contact (which we prefer ha). Overall quite impressed, not the cheapest however as we all know “you get what you pay for”
I could be very picky however there really is nothing worthy of mentioning. It’s a good place.

Very well located, clean, comfy beds. Tv and wifi easy to use and worked well. Property was easy to find although access gate was a bit fiddly. Table football which my son loved!
Property backs onto a restaurant so there was some noise until midnight. Also wouldn’t recommend to under 4’s/elderly/less mobile as 3 very steep staircases. Unfortunately there was no hot water during our stay which was really inconvenient, will return to Whitby but not to this property.

Perfect location.
Although Difficult to find as entrance is behind an unlabelled black gate.
Plenty of space in the accommodation and lots of bathrooms.
Great communication and attentive booking company.
Free parking included in accommodation is great but be warned all the W zones are on the other side of the water at least 10 mins walk away. Not a problem for us but something to be aware of.
Heads up, it’s over 4 floors and all stairs are spiral stair cases and quite steep.

We had a great stay. The cottage was as shown in the pictures and more than enough room for 5 of us. it was clean and high standard with some games for the kids. the location was very central and convenient, a little bit of noise but not a major issue. internet was a bit iffy too but, otherwise we couldn't fault it. the property was well equipped and we could have easily stayed longer. overall good value all considered.

This is a fantastic property full of charm and character with plenty of space and great convenience in terms of facilities and location. It’s also surrounded by great shops, cafes, restaurants and fish and chip shops. Not a bad distance to the beaches on foot and right opposite the Captain Cook museum. Just a few paces outside leads you to great views to the harbour.
You do need to walk down a narrow ginnel, guarded by an ancient and slightly rusty gate. For us this added charm and adventure but to others this might not be to their taste. Nice inside, the house is rustic, charming, quirky but comfortable with modern feeling bathrooms, kitchen and tv room. The beds are comfortable with immaculate and crisp white bedding.
As I say, entering and leaving the property is a little adventure in itself but charming and interesting. There are lots of narrow stairs to which may be a bit tricky for those not too steady on their feet but for most people it will be fine. Again these slightly narrow spiral staircases are wonderfully charming and give a sense of history. But the accommodation is set over four floors so again, those with immobility may struggle a bit.
For our family, this wonderful cottage was just the ticket and we enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely go back again in the future.
I would highly recommend this cottage though I would gently warn that it may be a tad awkward for some to manoeuvre in and around it. For those that embrace quirky and different, then this is the perfect place for you.

Having just returned from a mini break in Whitby, (Saturday 18th until Monday 21st) with our 10 year old twin boys, we can not recommend this accommodation more highly. The location is fantastic, really central (albeit it took us a little time to find) and is a stones throw from everywhere. Whilst very quirky it all adds to the appeal and cottage effect, which is really nice. Plenty of room for our little family and we really enjoyed our stay so thank you for the thought and effort gone in to making it memorable. David, Helen, Henry & Oliver
