We stayed here for a university reunion, and the house was absolutely perfect. It was beautifully presented, with stunning views and a fantastic location. It’s around a 30–40 minute walk into Paignton and just a short distance from several lovely beaches, so it was an ideal place for exploring the area. The host was incredibly responsive, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. They even made us fresh scones, which were delicious and such a thoughtful touch. We had the best time and only wished we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Really appreciated arriving to fresh scones with jam and cream and supplies to make tea and coffee, a great welcome to a lovely house with an amazing view. The outlook was so good we had a bbq at home every night so we could enjoy it and the full gas bottle was also very much appreciated. The well equipped kitchen made home catering easy and we all loved sitting on the terrace. The gym and hot tub were added bonuses. Would love to stay again

We had a fantastic stay in Torquay/Torbay. The views from the house were absolutely amazing and made the whole trip feel extra special. The property was very comfortable, spacious, and perfect for a larger group. The bedrooms were all great sizes, with most having their own en suites, which was really convenient. The hot tub was a real highlight — relaxing in it while overlooking the sea views was incredible. The location was also perfect, giving us easy access to Torquay in one direction and Brixham in the other, making it ideal for exploring the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property to others.

We had an absolutely perfect stay in Devon. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. The location was stunning — peaceful, scenic, and ideal for exploring the local area. The hosts were fantastic: welcoming, responsive, and clearly put so much care into making the stay special. Every little detail was thoughtfully considered, which made it feel like a real home away from home. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing apart from the one issue with the hot water, however we would 100% stay here again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a perfect escape in Devon!

We had a fantastic time in an absolutely lovely house. The views are just mesmerising. We had rented to celebrate a 60th birthday and the house has so many areas for people to be able to be in and not be on top of each other all the time. A good walk down to the beach and enjoyable times in the hot tub with a glass of fizz to finish the day off. Bedding and all home furnishings were lovely and for an older house sympathetically updated and utilised all space. I would definitely recommend the property for any family or friend gatherings

Lovely place to stay, house had a nice vibe and stunning views. We particularly loved seeing the steam train pass by a few times during the day. The log fire was lovely on an evening and the games available were great! All rooms were great, spacious and well equipped. Beds were really comfy also. We had two issues; there were no lights down to the hot tub which made it difficult to see the steps to and from the house. The second, a window had been left open behind a locked room causing the wind to bang doors, but contacted made to host and quickly resolved. The location of this house is great for getting the bus as it was literally right outside the front door as well as being a short drive/ trip to the zoo, the steam train and other fun things to do. We would absolutely stay again 😊

We loved our stay at the Spinney, beautiful house, lovely rooms. Great addition of the hot tub, gym super, views absolutely amazing. Can see the steam train as it passes through, beach gorgeous and walkable, great little shop walkable up the road and a chippy. Everything so close, zoo, Goodrington, Brixham. Just be aware of the busy Dartmouth Road but other than that, perfect in every other way!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Spinney- there was 10 of us (including 4 children) and we all had a great time. The house is beautiful and in a really good location. The only negative we felt was the check in time is quite late and check out fairly early!

we stayed at the spinney for 3 nights during the Easter break - we were 2 families totalling 6 adults and 5 children. There was ample space for all of us. Every bedroom was a great size as were the bathrooms. The house was clean & tidy, all linens were plenty and again kept nice and clean and easy to locate. The outside space of the house was fantastic, stunning gardens and great decking area. The location of the house was great, close to lots of amenities and a very short drive to the beach, there are local shops within walking distance. Communication from the host was also fantastic, replied promptly and resolved any queries we had. Finding the house was easy as was access for check in. Overall we had a fantastic trip and highly recommend the spinney if you're looking to stay in the Torquay area.

Lovely place to stay! Great location - fantastic views! Would recommend and stay again! Lots around to do/see - even in the home there are games and a great music system to use. Kitchen well stocked with plenty of plates/utensils etc - would only suggest to add a pair of scissors! Work had to be arrived out during our stay which unfortunately only told about at 6pm the night before him coming at 8am and drilling! Other than that had a great stay and would stay here if in the area with a large group again!

We had a few issues, although things that we reported were dealt with quickly. Could improve on the cleanliness of the property but the house and location are great.

Me and my family went there for couple days, the house was big enough but could do more on cleaning. The windows still had spider webs on corners. The sheets on my bedroom had blood stains on which wasn’t pleasant at all, and they were so noisy the duvet and the cover that you barely get any sleep. The garden was nice, although when you see the picture with the garden on internet, in reality isn’t that big, and not very functional. The chairs from the dining room could be stronger as they are light as a straw and could fall easily, one of my kids did fall. We did struggle with the pots from kitchen as there were no lids for them, so had to improvise. The gym room was full of spiders, couldn’t spend much time over there. They had a bbq with no gas , had to call them and get directions in order to go get some. The surroundings are nice, lots of things for kids. Overall the accommodation was ok, but can do much better on cleaning, and kitchen stuff ( pots with lids!) .

Lovely comfortable family house, plenty of room, a home from home. Lovely views, my grandchildren loved watching the steam train go by. My only complaint is that the outside was not up to the level of the inside of the house.The glass fence was not clean and was wobbly not very safe. Dead plants inside and outside, just needs some love outside. Could use a couple of loungers outside as when the weather was good it would have been lovely to lay out. We all loved the house and would stay again.

Great views! They’re actually better than the listing photos, except the lawn, which was not maintained and we couldn’t enjoy it. But the sea view from the deck was stunning! The house was recently renovated with good quality finishing and furniture. The nearby towns were really nice.

The Spinney is a real home from home stay. Perfect for families. If you are looking for lovely beaches and quiet surroundings, this place is perfect. Great location for walks and access to local days out.

An absolutely incredible stay, it feels like a dream! We stayed here for a family holiday with 3 adults and 2 children and had the most amazing time making memories together. The accommodation was perfect, with everything you could ever need and so much space. The pictures don’t do it justice. Decorated so tastefully, incredible views, so clean, peaceful location.. we will definitely be back, thank you so much.

Beautiful house, perfect for multiple families to stay together (great that there’s so many bathrooms). Each room is really well decorated and furnished. The beds (including the sofa bed) were really comfy, and the seats in the lounge are soooo comfortable - perfect place to relax with the roaring fire after a long day. Each room has stunning views of the sea. Lovely big driveway.

Really enjoyed our stay in The Spinney. It’s in a perfect location with some incredible views. Although we had some problems at check in this was no fault of the Fresh Escapes team who were really helpful in quickly resolving any issue. Highly recommend for a group stay and hope to be back soon.
