Elegant Town House with outside space
Entire home in Dartmouth, United Kingdom
The space
Summary:10 Clarence Hill is a vibrant townhouse, stylishly decorated to deliver a cosmopolitan vibe in the heart of this ancient maritime town. Up to 6 guests can relax in the open-plan living space, before gathering for meals in a dining area bathed in natural light, with large patio doors onto a whitewashed stone courtyard. For the true al fresco experience, there’s a larger, stone-walled courtyard to enjoy the sun while sipping cool drinks. And all within a short walk to Dartmouth’s treasures.
Accommodation:
The entrance vestibule opens into the airy open-plan living space. To the left is the lounge area with soft seating and large TV. The well-equipped kitchen blends subtly into the space, with granite worktops, a dishwasher, fridge and freezer, an electric oven and hob, and a washer/dryer. The kitchen then flows through into the dining area, which seats six. Bathed in natural light from large skylights and a large patio door which leads onto a white-walled courtyard where there's an extra fridge and freezer tucked away.
Up to the first floor, the main bedroom has a king-size bed, plenty of storage and a large TV. There's also a separate large family bathroom and WC with a corner bath and a separate shower.
There are two further bedrooms on the second floor, both with double beds and plenty of storage. One also has a TV and an en-suite shower.
And there's central heating throughout for visits in the cooler months.
Outside:
On the mezzanine landing, a door leads to the secluded walled terrace garden - a brilliant sun trap, furnished ready for outdoor dining - perfect for al fresco meals, or a glass of something sparkling on a Summer's evening.
If you do bring a dog, they must be exercised away from the premises. The popular Coronation Park is just a two-minute walk away.
Parking:
A car park permit is provided for the Mayors Avenue Car Park in the town centre, which is a two-minute walk away. The permit does not guarantee a parking space, and it can get very busy during the summer and special events, such as the Royal Regatta week (during which the car park is closed). A parking permit is provided for the Mayors Avenue Car Park, which is a 5-minute walk away. Please note the Parking permits are now only valid in Mayors Avenue Car park between 3pm and 10am between 25th of May and 1st September. During this time guests would have to use the park and ride at the top of the town.
Nearby:
A short walk down takes you to the heart of historic Dartmouth. Here you'll find an incredible selection of shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés, and galleries. From the embankment there are frequent ferries to Kingswear. Or, for a long walk, explore the South West Coast Path which runs out to the mouth of the river and past Dartmouth Castle. The closest beach is Blackpool Sands in the village of Stoke Fleming - a five-minute drive.

Fabulous house, clean, lovely bedding and very well equipped. Outside space could do with a little spruce up but was great to have. Only downside was parking permit expired 3 days before we got there. Dart valley cottage’s rang and offered parking at owners house as a solution. Unfortunately this was unsuitable as id recently had major knee surgery and the strenuous walk uphill would not have been possible. Chose property due to proximity of parking. Glad they endeavoured to sort but unfortunately we couldn’t make it work.

For a short stay, it was an ideal property. Excellent location, really comfortable furniture and felt exceptionally homely. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into everything someone could possibly need (even a curling iron!) There were a few niggles - the toilet in the en-suite took over an hour to refill each time it was flushed. There was also active black mould in the en-suite and damp in the living room. I would also recommend that the owners perhaps list the property with a different agent, as Dart Valley Cottages weren’t the most helpful. When I asked about unloading, I was told to find out about road closures myself. When I asked for one set of fresh bedding after being unwell, they were going to charge £30 for this!!! Their customer service definitely left something to be desired. Overall, however, a very pleasant stay.
