We found this to be a very cosy cottage and we enjoyed our stay. There were a couple of issues like the TV not working properly. We called Host and Stay and they sent someone out the same day to fix it and left instructions on how to sort it in the future. Also the back door lock was a problem and we couldn't go into the garden at all for the last couple of days as we couldn't open it. We reported this on the Friday before we left on the Saturday. I believe someone may have come to look at it but it was not resolved. The road was very busy at times but we managed to get in and out of the vehicle by just being patient. This didn't look to be on a main road from the pictures so a bit misleading. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Great stay at sandpiper, huge main room, very clean. Lovely bathroom, kitchen is small but has everything you need! Smack right in the centre so close to everything, would definitely stay again.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Bottom line: If I owned a flat, I would not trust this company to manage it. If I am renting for a holiday, I would never rent directly from these people. We booked a flat in Brighton with Host & Stay for 5 nights. When we arrived, the flat was not clean, the TV didn't work, and the condition of the apartment was clearly neglected (holes in wall, broken cabinets, run down fixtures). We booked for three guests but only had towels and sheets for two. This was bad, but nothing in comparison to their response to the mess. Nothing could be fixed, ever. They had me key into another flat to salvage bedding at 9PM at night (after 5 hours of back and forth). They fixed the TV the next day afternoon only for that (and the internet!) to stop working again less than 24 hours later. No one ever arrived to change the stained sheets or clean the hair and scum left in the bathroom - I had to find their maintenance person in a van on the street to get it fixed! They have a 24-hour hotline, but it's entirely there for show. The folks on the other side of the call affectuated no change and helped nothing. You also get a different rep each time so you get to waste your time explaining the problems to a dozen different people with zero follow-up from any of them. I filed a "formal complaint" with them and got a form email and an offer to refund less than 10% of the price I paid to go through this special kind of hell. It is apparent to me that this company is taking advantage of holiday flat owners (letting their flats get destroyed) while conning unsuspecting tourists out of their money with a bottom-of-the-barrel service level and zero accountability. Never again.

This house is immaculate. We had a great stay and the whole house was a really nice place to be. As always in Whitby, the seagulls were noisy neighbours but that cannot be avoided. Being so close to the bakery helped compensate for that. The location is excellent as well.

eigentlich ganz hübsch gelegen, wenn die Aussicht nicht verbaut wäre durch die Häuser gegenüber. Übel: Parkplätze? keine Chance: es liegt an einer super schmalen Gasse, die nächsten öffentlichen Stellplätze sind ggf (wenn frei) > 100m weg, Parken vor dem Haus zum Auspacken unmöglich, durch die Strasse jagende Autos und Motorräder -auch nachts- ohne Ende: laut und gefährlich! Ansonsten: klein und eng, supersteile Treppe (typisch britisch) mit unterschiedlich hohen Stufen. Ekelhaft: Das Schlimmste aber: ekelig dreckig!, Es hatte offenbar keine Grundreinigung stattgefunden, benutztes Geschirr in der Spüle, Dreck überall - selbst in der Toilettte - widerlich. Die Betten waren nicht bezogen, das mussten wir selbst erledigen. Dafür war es mit weitem Abstand die TEUERSTE Übernachtung auf unserem UK Trip in diesem Jahr. Service von hostandstay.com?: nicht vorhanden - man wird einfach wegignoriert. Sorry, we hear you - und das wars. Keinerlei Hilfe oder Antwort oder gar Kompensation - nie wieder hostandstay

Avoid at all cost! From the moment we arrived, the property presented multiple severe health, safety, and hygiene issues, making it completely unsuitable for habitation—especially for a family with two young children. Despite notifying the host within the first 24 hours, no meaningful action was taken. Instead, I was met with false and deeply offensive accusations. The following problems were experienced during the stay: • Water leak in the living room ceiling spotlights, posing serious electrical and fire risk. • Bathroom leak, making it impossible to shower or bathe. • Strong mould smell throughout the house. • Filthy kitchen with food debris and unclean surfaces. • Stained carpets, dirty floors, and overall lack of hygiene. • Only one set of towels provided; no basic facilities or maintenance. • No rubbish collection — bin bags piled up on the driveway. • Overgrown and unsafe garden. • False accusations of illegal activity after I raised concerns—completely baseless and offensive. We are a family with two young children; we do not smoke or engage in any illegal substances. Despite the urgent nature of these issues, the host only sent someone two days after check-in, and no repairs or cleaning were done.

My wife and I went away for a weekend to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. When we arrived at the house it was very easy to get into the flat due to the information we'd received in advance. We loved the feel of the house, everything looked clean and tidy and well decorated. The place provides a cosy atmosphere and you can see the beautiful downs when you look out of the windows. Situation in Newhaven, it took us only 25 minutes to Brighton and 25 minutes to Beachy Head. Thank you for contributing to a fantastic weekend.

The flat was extremely comfortable and well maintained. It was located within easy walking distance of the beach and restaurants and cafes. We found the owners helpful and really enjoyed our stay in Saltburn

Excellent customer service from Host and Stay- very responsive and polite when dealing with queries. I also noticed they had acted quickly on a previous review and and replaced the outside table. The property was clean and ready on arrival, with everything we needed for our stay. It was the perfect base for us as we spent little time at the property/on site and spent most of our time out exploring the local area. It was a real bonus to have some facilities onsite such as a pool and small park nearby.

This is a splendid place to stay for a long weekend or mid week getaway with friends. It has two double bedrooms & two bathrooms which means you are not getting in each other’s way when getting ready for your night out. Only issue we had is there is no toilet roll holders so they have to go on the sink. We will be booking this again for our next stay in Whitby. Thank you.
