The location was very rural but was perfect for a get-away stay after a busy time in London. A good base for local walks and exploring the local area including Hexham and Durham. Access to a car was needed.

Location was excellent for all the major sites on Hadrian's wall. The property was much more spacious than expected. The Red Lion pub served excellent food.

Some have complained about the need to use bottled water but this was supplied and we didn't find it an issue

Het plaatje met de 2 banken was niet onze lokatie. Wij hadden de benedenverdieping.
Die ziet er anders uit.
Verder was alles schoon, de keukenmessen goed ingericht, een goede bed in een ruime slaapkamer en een ruime badkamer.
De ligging op een heuveltop was fantastisch rustig. In het dorp onderaan de berg een kleine Co-op supermarkt.

Er was voldoende drinkwater in flessen aanwezig. Uit eerdere reviews had ik begrepen dat het water niet van drinkkwaliteit was.
Deze meldingen waren uit 2024, dus ik heb meerdere keren aan Host&Stay gevraagd of dit probleem opgelost was, maar kreeg steeds geen antwoord op mijn vraag, ook niet in de periode dat ik nog kon annuleren. Ik werd meerdere keren benaderd door Host&Stay over een afkoopregeling van 500 pond bij geval van schade, het aanbod van korting op een Gin-pakket of een korting voor een privé kok. Maar geen antwoord op mijn vraag over de waterkwaliteit. Die kreeg ik pas nadat ik in het appartement had ingecheckt en zag dat de waterproblemen van 2024 waren: wij waren er in augustus 2025!
Wij hebben gewoon gedoucht en hebben geen last van het water uit de kraan gehad.
In het huisje hangen waarschuwingen van de eigenaren over de drinkwaterproblemen van 2024. Ik zou die gewoon netjes vervangen met de datum 2025.

It was easy to get the keys, reasonable close to everything i wanted to see. Ground floor appt has a wet room. Owner was friendly.

The mains water is not safe for drinking, food prep or cleaning your teeth. The owners have signs dated from 2024 warning about it, they apparently keep meaning to get round to the work needed to pass the council safe test. They do provide bottled water though. Despite booking weeks in advance they weren't expecting me and hadn't cleaned the property before arrival and didn't clean whilst I was there despite me offering them to. In countryside so had spiders and beetles would crawl in under the door. You can hear people upstairs very loud when moving around.

Please be aware that there's another apartment just above,people who stayed in there kept me awake till 4.30 am. It was not the owners fault but keep in mind that you can experience something like this.

The place was spotlessly clean. The bed was the most comfortable I've stayed in. Loved the location and the new born lambs right outside the door

Would have liked a bigger window to see the amazing views but probably not possible!!

Perfect for my needs, working in the area, after a long day at work it was so peaceful to come back to at night.
Very lucky with the weather which meant I could sit in the garden and relax late in the evenings.
Lovely host, I would highly recommend this stay.

The bed was very comfortable and in a very big bedroom. The bathroom is also large and great size shower. The whole place was very clean and a small welcome gift was awaiting our arrival. The Boatside Inn, very popular but amazing service and food

We couldn't use the water, although bottled water was left and plenty of it, there were no instructions regarding if it was safe to shower, or use washing machine or dishwasher. There was no communication to warn us of this or the option to cancel. It would be useful for the owners to provide more details on how remote the property is and that you will need to bring supplies with you as no local shops nearby. My husband and I are disabled and although it was managable for us it might not suit others. It is my mistake but i wasn't aware of how remote the place actually was.

Die sehr abgeschiedene und ruhige Lage haben uns sehr gefallen. Direkt um das Grundstück herum gab es Schafe und Kühe, über die sich unsere kleine Tochter sehr gefreut hat. Außerdem hatte man einen tollen Blick über schöne Landschaften. Man konnte direkt ab der Haustür schön wandern. Die Unterkunft war rustikal und gemütlich eingerichtet. Es gab einen großen Garten.

Es war extrem windig, was nicht nur dem klischeehaften Wetter geschuldet war, sondern auch der Hanglage mit vielen baumfreien, weiten Feldern.
Das Leitungswasser hatte keine Trinkwasserqualität, weil irgendwo bei der Wasserversorgung ein Filter gefehlt hat. Man sollte das Wasser weder zum Zähne putzen noch zum Kochen verwenden (interessanterweise aber zum Geschirrspülen), weil es nicht keimfrei war. Mit kleinem Kind, war dann dadurch auch das Baden nicht optimal. Man hatte zwar Wasser zum Kochen und Zähne putzen zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen, ein Stück weit nervig war es aber doch, zumal wir immer Leitungswasser trinken und viel Tee kochen. Man hätte zumindest beim Buchen einen Hinweis auf die Lage geben können.

Very spacious accommodation, large bedrooms and well equipped living room/kitchen. Both bedrooms had large en-suites with full size baths. Location is on a farm which is in a fairly remote location woth stunning views. Wi-Fi worked well.

Beautiful location and a lovely place to stay.

A lot of noise from children running about upstairs on our last day. Did not like the extra money we had to pay for "Damage protection" - never had to do that before.

It is nice property, it is clean and comfortable farm house, and the facilities are very good. The owner is very nice.
