Well equipped and beautifully decorated. Some small maintenance issues reported and a very prompt response from the team.
The boiler was sometimes noisy, the shower door was missing the seal so water went everywhere. A face towel in addition to the body towel would have been appreciated

Nice enough. Clean and comfortable. In a busy main road. There are other nicer and cheaper hotels nearby but I booked in a rush so didn’t have time to do much research. Found the communications bizarre and difficult. Received multiple phone calls offering and early check in offer for a fee! Never had that before. Makes sense why they are so insistent that you checkout at 10am Sharp and can’t check in until 4pm. Communication whilst at properties slow and not helpful. Coffee machine didn’t work which they ignored and didn’t respond to request for it to be fixed. Shower door on bath not fitted properly so bathroom floor soaked every time it was used. Please note this is for Percy Cottage because I believe the reviews are amalgamated for multiple venues under the same host, which is not very good for prospective guests trying to ascertain if the property is good or not. Personally I would not stay again if visiting the area. But it did the job.

Great house in a good location. With easy access to much of Northumberland.
House was just as described with easy parking round the back. Shop and a fabulous bar/ restaurant within walking distance.
Would stay again for sure but could do with some extra attention to cleaning.. some cups and glasses needed washing and some skirting boards a little grubby. Other than that I would recommend.

Lovely place, and very comfortable Excellent facilities with a well equipped kitchen. Lots of wood in the coal shed for the fire which was nice. Short drive to Kielder Forest which was the purpose of our visit. Would definitely stay again.
A couple of small things which are by no means game charngers. The, shower screen is a little short so a little water can get onto the bathroom floor. There was a coffee machine which was a lovely extra but the supplied pods didn't fit. Again nothing to upset your stay though.

Lovely quiet get away. Great pub/restaurant down the road that you can also take dogs in. Shop close by. Only thing is, the plug in the bathroom sink doesn’t drain the water fast enough so the sink fills up very fast with water. Dishwasher tablets left out to use but could not find a dishwasher? Other than that nice break/ nice interior.

Location was great
Frying pan requires changed. Shower screens bottom hinge needs sorting. Second bedroom door catch not working. Cooker grill was dirty and there was no cleaning sponge to use. Landing light kept turning itself off. All in all the house was very comfortable and and we would recommend it to anyone. Most of what we have mentioned was trivial to us but we thought we should tell you.

We loved our stay at Percy Cottage! Decor was absolutely beautiful, warm & welcoming, easy to relax & switch off, bed was really comfy & we both had a good night's sleep, log burning fire was perfect especially as it was snowing when we were there! Overall we & our doggos loved our stay & would highly recommend it!

We visited Percy Cottage over New Year and as expected, Otterburn was chilly! Despite this, the property was warm, cosy and homely throughout our stay, even without us using the Log fire.
The kitchen was well appointed and the property as a whole was very well maintained - it really gave us a feel of a home away from home.
Directions for checking in and out were very clear - parking is available for a car behind the property.
I would recommend the Otterburn Village Trail, starting at the Otterburn Mill, to anyone interested in a steady walk - although wear suitable footwear for mud if there has been rain.
During our stay we visited the William De Percy in the Village and The Redesdale Arms which was 5-10 minutes drive away, both for food and drinks. Would recommend The Redesdale Arms - the staff were welcoming, the food was good, prices were reasonable and the view was fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay - thank you!

Location for wedding at Petite Chateau was good. House was clean and decor was fun and comfortable
Didn't like the surprise of a further £25 being required one week before our stay - that should be built into the cost up front. This was an expensive stay (£200 per night in the week, outside of school holidays) but the check-in was late (4pm) and check out early (10am). The booking said late check out could be requested. Requested 11am check out but told this wasn't possible due to cleaning rotas. Don't offer things that aren't available. Nice coffee machine in the kitchen but pods supplied don't match the machine so not useable. Kitchen bin far too small. Fancy salt and pepper shakers were empty. Appreciate these are little things, but if you are going to charge a premium these are the little things that make a difference.

We really enjoyed the location, easy walk to a really nice pub, and great for exploring Northumberland.
In hindsight probably better for adults for a short break rather than a family holiday.
This accommodation is managed by a company and not owners, just something to bear in mind - lots of messages about ‘if something is broken’ and checking out on time.

We stayed at the property roughly 18/19 months ago and It was fantastic. However since that time the property has clearly suffered a lot of wear and tear. The changing room was dusty. Toilet door handle kept getting jammed and you had to have someone come open it from the front. The toilet handle (flushing) keeps getting jammed. Just run down items such as the kitchen door. Sheets were dirty and The one that is the biggest issue though is the hole in the floor in the bedroom on the first night my partner tripped on this and has actually suffered a pretty bad bruise to her foot.

Within walking distance to pub and shop.
We had to clean the garden furniture before we could use it. Bathroom door catch was sticking. No catches on bedroom doors. The booking confirmation stated 'A damage deposit of GBP 250 is required. The host charges this 14 days before arrival. This will be collected by credit card. You should be reimbursed within 14 days of check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full via credit card, subject to an inspection of the property' However we were obliged to pay £300 prior to our stay and have been advised that only £290 will be refunded within 14 days. Surely property owners should have their own insurance.

Beautiful cottage, lovely location, free parking, pet friendly. Nice and quiet neighbourhood, next to a small shop for anything you need to buy. Comfy beds, high quality furniture and blankets.
There's additional non refundable deposits on top of what you see in the price here and they don't give you the code to the lockbox to enter the property until you pay it, even though we paid the fee for staying all the nights in full alreayd so they had full payment but still withheld the keys.
You need to pay either £25 non refundable or pay £250 and they charge you a £10 admin fee to manage it, so you basically pay £10-25 non refundable. We didn't realise this until a few hours before arriving and then they took a lot of chasing after we paid it to give us the code to the lockbox for the property keys.
There was also only 1 toilet paper and we ran out, quite ungenerous for a such a cheap thing.

Loved the vintage sofa company vibe , dark and moody
The walls could do with fresh coats of paint and the door into the kitchen had by the look of it scratched to bits by a dog. Bath panel was sticking out showing a dirty slick on the top.

The cottage was in a great location a short walk to the local shop and pub which served gorgeous food and was friendly and welcoming. Also close to otterburn mill where we had a lovely lunch.
We took our dogs and the garden although enclosed was separate to the house but this was easily overcome.

Good location to wedding venues and nice quiet village in middle of nowhere

Overall a great place to stay. I was in the area for a wedding and this was the perfect location, a quick walk from the venue. It was well decorated and had everything we needed. Fit 4 people comfortably in the 2 bedrooms. I managed to fix the hot water with the instructions they gave for resetting the boiler. The hosts had a professional come double check within a few hours to ensure it worked as well. I’d recommend if attending a wedding in the area.

Great cosy cottage for a February weekend. Location is in walking distance to the pub, shop and cafe.
A few downsides however, the cottage has very steep stairs, some items in the kitchen were not cleaned from previous occupants and it is next to a loud road although it isn't overly busy with traffic. We were dissapointed that the heating had been switched off for our arrival, the temperature was only 10 degrees and with a 5 month old baby this was unacceptable, it took until late on the first evening to get back to a reasonable temperature. Communication with the host on this issue was poor.

We booked Percy Cottage last minute as we decided to get away over New Year. We travelled with our two children and from the moment we walked through the door we felt at home. The decor is fab and we loved the property’s quirkiness. It’s a bit far out from the places we usually like to visit but the drives are always scenic - it’s not like encountering the M62 to be able to get out for the day! We’ll definitely return to Percy Cottage.

Michelle

What a beautiful property! The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed to make a full Christmas dinner (they even provided the Christmas tree), the log burner was brilliant after a rainy walk locally and overall just a lovely place.
My 2 things I would just note: the stairs in the property are pretty steep if you are travelling with children or have mobility issues and there is no flexibility with regafamily to check in due to their cleaning schedule so make sure you leave a little later or have a table booked at William de Percy across the road until you can get in at 4pm.
Overall though fantastic little property and would definitely stay again!

Nick

The purpose of our stay was for a family wedding at the Hall just outside the village. The location was ideal and the checking in was smooth. The cottage was nice and well equipped. However, I'm afraid to say that our stay was spoiled by the cleanliness of the place. The bathroom had large amounts of black mould around the bath and shower head. The sink is very small and blocks up even with the plug open. This put my wife and daughter off using the shower and we had to go to the wedding venue to shower and change.
Also there were cobwebs in the second bedroom, the grill pan and mesh were greasy, as was the door handle to the kitchen.
At £518 for two nights, I would have expected a better standard.

We stayed at Percy Cottage for a wedding take place at the Le Petit Chateau, which is a five minute walk away. The cottage is stylishly decorated, well furnished, with comfortable large king size beds, the back bedroom was nice and quiet. The hosts very kindly provided coffee which was a nice touch. Hosts ‘stay’ were extremely responsive and clear with instructions. If you’re in need of accommodation in the area, I would have no hesitation recommended Percy cottage.

What a fantastic place! We absolutely loved it and it felt like home (&better). The place is nicely decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped. Probably the only mattresses I've found outside of home that did not ruin my back. Traffic makes the master bedroom a bit loud in the morning, but it is not intolerable (unless you're a light sleeper). All in all would definitely return and I can't wait to give their other locations a try as well. Thank you!

Lovely cottage situated approx 5minute walk from ‘Le Petit Château’ where we were attending a wedding.
The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout in a stunningly quirky but cosy theme. The property was lovely and clean.
I particularly liked the dressing room which was a handy space for getting ready for wedding.
I didn’t like the fact we couldn’t enjoy it longer! We were looking forward to making use of the cosy fire but we didn’t have the time.
Only suggestion would be to look at improving the lighting in the dressing room.

We stayed for the weekend with our 1 year old daughter and small dog and had a great time. Lovey cottage, clean and decorated beautifully. Has everything you could need (apart from a high chair - we had to bring ours which wasn’t ideal). Location is great - walking distance to all amenities in the village (pub, shop, cafe, wedding venue). There is also a village circular 3 mile walk on the doorstep which isn’t too difficult if you like walking.
Some people had mentioned the noise from the main road. This would be an issue if you are a light sleeper, but a pair or ear plugs would do the job. Others have also mentioned the noisy pipes, this was an issue for us as it was fairly cold at night so had to keep the heating on low during the night for the baby, and she was disturbed several times by the noisy heating pipes, which are quite loud in the back bedroom. Obviously can’t be helped, but something to be aware of.
Overall a great stay and would come again.

Cottage was beautifully decorated. Comments on the noisy road was very true and being an old building the pipes etc made a lot of noise in the back bedroom as well.
Had read a review that the garden was not secure as not attached to house. Since this was why we had booked as 2 dogs I checked a few days before and sent a screen shot of the actual review. I was assured it was secure but they failed to mention not attached and the lane was attached to the busy main road. This was very inconvenient for us as had to put dogs on lead to take to garden and the lock was broken so someone has to stand and hold the gate shut.
Bath didn’t drain after being filled so we couldn’t have a shower on the last day.
However the area is lovely and as I say the decor and attention to detail ok the surface is beautiful. Just a few things to make it perfect.

Beautiful property, decor and facilities were perfect
Messaged twice prior to staying regarding the constant emails I was receiving about completing ‘pre-stay vetting’ and particularly the £25/10 damage waiver that specifically states on the booking page is a £10 refundable deposit. It isn’t! I messaged twice and received no response other than automated emails asking me for the fee. Then when I had paid as the emails threatened a cancellation- I had no details about how to access the property- had to call on the morning to get these. Very frustrating and disappointing given the price of the booking.
Also check out is really early

On a main road and traffic noise is very bad. We couldn’t sleep in the main bedroom as lorries go past day and night.

Nicely furnished and comfortable.
A bit cold as the heating had to be reset manually all the time.

House is decorated with taste and is spatious
only 3 chairs for 4 people? no wood to make fire in the stove, check out too early (10am), noisy road next to the house

We had such a nice time down at Percy Cottage! Was exactly what we expected! Cottage is decorated absolutely beautifully, and felt so cosy! It is pet friendly but is a bit unsafe as the gated garden isn’t attached to the house, but plenty of walks around the surrounding area. Only negative is how far away it is from supermarkets so ensure you have enough food with you. There is a lovely little shop just a few doors up for juice and firewood!

Percy Cottage is a gorgeous old stone house, full of charm, the interior decoration is fabulous. Its modern without being too new and the log fire is just lovely for having a cosy night in.
The cottage was spotlessly clean, the heating was on for our arrival, the shower hot and all the cooking facilities you might need are there! The location is good, nice walks with the dogs and the local shop was open until fairly late which is unusual for a village, and the staff there were extremely friendly.
nothing, it was amazing.

Stunning cottage in a beautiful little village. Plenty of nice walks in the surrounding area. Lovely little shop less than two minutes walk that sells everything you need (including logs, kindling and firefighters). Communication excellent. Thanks for a great stay!

A beautiful house with lovely decor. Only small point was that there were no logs and I would have expected this. Communication was good and the local area is lovely, stop by the castle for a drink!

Beautiful peaceful stay, just what we needed. Tastefully decorated and lovely location. If you’re arriving late take a few bits with you, there is a shop just 2 minute walk away.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village, great pub a short walk away. Cottage is very well decorated. The pillows and bed are so comfortable. Log fire is great, logs available from the village shop. Very well equipped kitchen. Only downside is the very busy main road. Lovely garden out the back. Will definitely return if in the area.

This cottage is gorgeous! Lovely and cosy, perfect for a family weekend away. Has everything you could possibly need for a longer stay. Storm Arwen sadly cut our stay short but would definitely book again and recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious base in Northumberland for exploring.

Great stay in a perfect location for exploring Northumberland. We used the bedroom at the back of the house as the road at the front of the house can be noisy. Very warm and cosy, would stay again!

Lovely stylish cosy property which is very well equipped. We enjoyed our stay and used it as a base to visit the Kielder Forest, Hexham, Amble, Warkworth and the coastal villages. Just a shame that it is on the main road and you can hear the traffic at night. The William De Percy Restaurant is good and just a short walk away but best to book ahead.

Lovely place, even nicer than the pictures. There wasn’t a coffee machine but that’s our only complaint. Thanks for having us! X

Lovely cottage, clean and felt v homely. Perfect for a walk to the pub or shop if needed and we used it as a base for walks, went to Kielder Water and also over to the coast (Bamburgh and Alnmouth/Alnwick for day trips). The cottage was perfect and really nice decor

Great stay at Percy Cottage, everything very clean, beds comfortable, check in and out easy. Otterburn is a good spot to get different locations in Northumberland,, there is a good pub/restaurant and a well stocked local shop. Slight downside is the cottage is on quite a busy road and can be a bit noisy, especially in the morning.

Well furnished and immaculately decorated property with a touch of class about it. Ideal location to access the best of Northumberland from coast to the moors of the national park.
Garden is a lovely little sun trap but not so ideal for those who have dogs as isn’t fully enclosed to the back door and with being near a relatively fast road you can’t just let the dog out the back without supervision.

My friends and I had a beautiful holiday and are happy for our selection. The place is immaculate! The communication was great and the check in process really smooth. Everything was really clean and the decoration of the place is pretty nice. There is enough room for a family or two couples and the neighbourhood is super nice and not noisy. You can certainly enjoy moments of peace and tranquility in this listing. The kitchen was superb and you can cook pretty much everything you want. Also, you can certainly enjoy watching a movie using the provided facilities. Highly recommended and the walks nearby can be spectacular.
Kind regards
Kostas

We had a lovely few days at Percy Cottage. It is very well equipped, very comfortable and really funky decoration and furnishings. Well located for trips to Kielder Forest and Alnwick/coast too. Highly recommend.
