Fabulous cottage, everything you could need for a break away. Well kept garden to sit in, really comfortable beds and bed linen. Only few minutes walk to center of Helmsley with great choice of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Shops selling lovely, different from usual things.

The location to Helmesley Square to the property was exceptional and easy to reach (and a flat walk) within 2 minutes. Parking wasn't an issue.

This cottage had everything i could have wanted for our Short break, beautifully furnished, spotless and clean and in a perfect location but there was one thing that could be improved and that is the front door which is shared between two properties and we found it would benefit from having locks fitted, other than that this cottage is perfect and we would definitely come again.

Helmsley is a great little town. Willow Cottage is the perfect place to stay. A really homely and smart 2 bed cottage. Everything has been thought through. A lovely little enclosed garden too. Perfect for dogs as well.

Great location within easy walking distance to the shops, bars and restaurants in Helmsley, all just a couple of minutes down the road.
It was spotlessly clean with a lovely lounge, kitchen and decent sized bedrooms and bathroom, we even managed to enjoy breakfast in the garden which gets the sun.
Great communication from the host and would recommend

Very small thing but the door catches a little bit stiff. Woke the dog up in the middle of the night when persons of a certain age are sneaking into the bathroom.

Location is good for the town centre and the surrounding area. It is a small cottage with a secure garden for our dog. A problem with the heating was reported and whilst we had a call back. Nobody came out to fix it. So cool I. the lounge at night and in the back bedroom. Good job the weather was mild. Disappointing nobody called back or came out. Would we use again no.
The balance is own space and cleaning cooking etc or hotel and the care that comes with it. Hotel next time. Third time using air bnb Spain, England and in Wales and we have decided it’s not for us. Minimal basics left for cleaning etc but high end prices.

It was close to the Pubs, Restaurants and shopping. Close by, was the Castle and Falconry Centre. You are able to leave the car, parked up and walk.

A bad smelling kitchen sink! Not one drop of bleach in the cottage. On one of the single beds, there was no mattress protector! Supply of the minimum amount of towels possible. The lounge radiator, wasn't even working. Continued reminder of damages, is a complete nuisance!

second time we have stayed at willow cottage , great location , Helmsley has everything you need ,great restaurants and pubs , independent shops , lovely butchers and Bakers even a greengrocers , a small co-op even a castle!
just a heads up as this place is run by a holiday company though Airbnb , they don't provide basic kitchen Essentials ie cooking oil , kitchen roll , washing up brush / clothes and only a few sachets of tea , coffee sugar and milk .

Enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Willow cottage. Beautiful house, very homely and welcoming. Cozy lounge with log burner and very comfy beds and nice bed linen. Nice garden where you can sit out and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine. Felt very at home. Loads to do and see in and around picturesque Helmsley and lots of pubs, restaurants and cafes and all are dog friendly as is the cottage. We very much enjoyed our stay

I rented this property as a Christmas gift for my parents so we could have a lovely mini break in Helmsley. The accommodation did not disappoint. Free parking, well equipped kitchen, comfortable living area and beds, quiet in the evening, lovely and warm, close to village centre for walking and easy access to key when arriving to the property. My parents loved it as did my husband and I. We hope to be back!

Warm on arrival. Easy to find with clear instructions on how to access property. Delightful, old cottage with all benefits of internal modernising. Quality bed linen and comfy beds. Proximity to excellent pubs, restaurants and all the Town has to offer plus the wider attractions.

Tall people should duck going up stairs but not really an issue - more of a heads up (or down)

Handy for the small town but situated on main road to Scarborough so lot of traffic noise at night if using twin bedroom at the front. Parking is first come first served so could be tricky at times.

It was a really great home in an amazing location. The house was a good size for 4 people (and we also had 2 dogs). It had a lovely garden which was especially nice in the good weather. It had everything we needed - we will definitely be returning!

We decided to stay for a few days on the way back from Scotland with our dog to do some walking before heading back to London. We ideally wanted the option to check in a little earlier but when we enquired about this we had no response. The cottage was in a great location to pubs and easy to go on long walks. Annoyingly there were quite a few light bulbs out downstairs and in the bathroom. The shower had quite a bit of mould in it and the shower doors either got jammed or didn't close properly which was frustrating. Alongside this the temperature gauge in the shower didn't seem to be working properly which meant it was either cold or very hot. The kitchen was great and had good amenities. I think we have been used to having a few nice extra touches though which were missing at this stay. Often we have arrived to Prosecco in the fridge, a few bits of local produce and fresh milk, small things but make a difference. Nice cottage but felt lacking on the TLC for us.

Nice, clean, simple, comfortable with charm. Very close to the main square which worked well. Nicely decorated. The instructions for the property were clear.

I think generally for the sake of a few quid, providing some dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and shower gel is a fairly basic ask. Two coffee pods also for the duration felt like rations. Who shows up for a two night stay with dishwasher tablets and fairy liquid?? These stays are not cheap and when you have to head out to the Coop for what would seem a few simple essentials it dents the experience unnecessarily. I would suggest they are a little more generous - or add a £5 to the rate and provide a little welcome pack or something.

Willow Cottage is perfectly fine, and situated right in the centre of the pretty tourist hub of Helmsley. No complaints about the accommodation. The kitchen and rear garden were particularly enjoyable. I did have a bit of an issue about the fact that the property is operated by a management company, so there was a lack of the usual personal contact we have become used to with the usual Airbnb home. I also objected to having to make a security deposit, and to be charged a fee to have it returned. If you are happy to accept this corporate approach to staying with Airbnb, then you'll be happy with Willow Cottage.

This cottage is in the perfect location, the village centre is only just around the corner. It is very clean and well presented, there is everything you could need in the kitchen. The garden is delightful with a lovely seating area. We would definitely stay here again. We were able to park outside, sometimes at the other side of the road but that was fine.

Our only small gripe would be that the shower temperature is difficult to adjust, the power of the shower is good. It’s not enough of an issue to deduct a star from the rating.

The cottage is deceptively spacious and in a perfect location in Helmsley. It's equipped with everything you need and has a very cosy, homely feel. A perfect stay in the country!

I'd agree with some other reviews that the shower needs attention as it was a bit fiddly to find the right temperature for the water. We also had some minor issues with cleanliness but Host & Stay we're very responsive.

Overall, a lovely cottage and we'd definitely be back!

Deceptively spacious cottage in central Helmsley. Ticked every box for visiting relatives with a dog. Very comfortable in all rooms, good storage and excellent kitchen appliances. Lots to look round in Helmsley, decent places to eat and great dog walks.
Lots of on road parking near the cottage too.

constant emails from the management company saying what we could or couldn’t do reminding us twice we couldn’t check in til 4 and we had to check out at 10 am - felt like harassment and the request for a large sum of money up front to cover “damage” I thought was out of order nearly as much as the rental cost we chose to pay instead a one off cost for insurance but soured the trip really as this wasn’t clear on booking. the shower temperature was difficult to control and the bathroom smelled of sewer, the curtains covered the radiators so blocked heat coming out.
it is a lovely cottage but the above spoilt it

Loved; the cosy decor, the lovely garden with patio doors to the kitchen, the log burner, the fact that it was dog friendly, the proximity to the town centre via a flat pavement - easily accessible for a pushchair and person with reduced mobility, the WiFi, having Netflix, having both a shower and a bath, the Nespresso machine.

Really minor point but the bedroom and bathroom door latches are really stiff and difficult to operate.

Perfect location in Helmsley. Easy walking distance of under 5 mins to shops, pubs and restaurants.
Free parking right outside the cottage was easy after mid afternoon.
Very quiet despite the road outside being the main through road - very effective double glazing.
The cottage is cosy but more spacious than it looks on the photos!
Great kitchen /diner.
Heating etc very easy to operate.

Minor glitches and in the context of being happy to stay again and recommend to others;
- Request for main bed to be made up as a king bed not implemented on arrival - sorted out as quickly as possible with good communication
- Shower needs a bit of attention. Add a small hanging tidy to put sponge, shampoo etc as its quite small and picking everything off the floor isn't great. It is collecting a bit of mould behind the sliding doors. The temperature controls are quite stiff and it was hard to get it warm rather than hot.

Es wurde nur ein Geschirrtuch zur Verfügung gestellt (wir haben auch auf Anfrage kein zweites Geschirrtuch erhalten).
Es war kein normaler Wäschetrockner im Cottage (nur der ganz kleine Trockner für Socken und Unterwäsche).

Das Badezimmer verfügt über zu wenig Ablageflächen.

Cleanliness and location excellent. There were also plenty of extras about the place like pens,scissors bulbs etc.
The hosts left plenty of information about the cottage and local area which was very useful.

Nothing. One thing to bear in mind is by nature of the building the cottages tend to be darker as they only have windows at the back and front but the lighting provided was very good.

The cottage is very close to town centre. Parking was a bit of an issue esp for a w/e arrival when the town was really busy. But evenings were quiet. There was a good size garden for the dogs to play in - the astro-turf got really hot though so we had to restrict play at times. The communal hall was a surprise and I'm sure the neighbours felt that they had been tagged as the dogs barked at their every move

Helmsley is a lovely town with lots of dog-friendly places to eat and visit - the walled garden and Vineyard cafe are highly recommended!

Bedrooms were small (have the bruises to prove it!) and really hot even with the windows open - can't believe I'm moaning about heat! Would be a super winter short-break retreat in that respect.

Great cottage in a lovely location. Good shops just around the corner & restaurants and some lovely cafe’s with great coffee.
We did some lovely walks around Helmsley & taking in a few drink at the Summat’s Brewery. Would definitely revisit willow Cottage, it’s very cosy with a beautiful back garden.

We spent 3 hrs looking for the rear door garden key, and waiting for telephone calls and someone to sort the problem. The key was accidentally found after I moved a small coffee machine, the key had been pushed right to the back between the wall and the machine, overall the rest of the stay was enjoyable and the cottage was well equipped and very clean, if I had not found the key myself I would have left the property and booked into an Hotel nearby, we have 2 small dogs and the garden was essential in this cottage being directly onto a main rd. Clean, spacious, warm and welcoming, attractively furnished and comfortable.

Difficult to park nearby during the day.
Traffic noise from Bondgate begins quite early in the morning- 6.30/7.00 am.

Honestly, everything. We booked very last minute and wow, what an experience. If you are looking for a stunningly decorated home from home cottage then this is the place.

That I couldn’t stay for longer.

It is a lovely cottage and very well equipped and maintained.

The instructions are a little out of date - we spent 10 minutes looking for the thermostat in the front bedroom as instructed and we could not find any major channels on the television (BBCITV and C4) or any instructions.
I don’t know what you can do about this until they move out, but the next door neighbours have seven dogs that live in the yard and whine and bark intermittently throughout the day and night. They also had a large dead animal under a tarpaulin in the backyard within view of the bedroom window. It looks like a large hog or a deer and based on the fact that also a dozen pheasants strewn around the back passage way we can only assume It was a country person living in a town who had brought home some roadkill to feed his dogs with.
The woman next door told us they were going away on Monday and subsequently by Monday morning the carcass had disappeared. We wondered having heard a chainsaw that morning if he had butchered it in the shed for the dogs to eat while they were away.

Not particularly appealing to live next door to this for the weekend and we left on Monday instead of Tuesday because of this.

Perfect little cottage in a great location for walking in and around Helmsley. Well supplied and very comfortable. The back door is difficult to figure out- locking and unlocking was a bit challenging, even for my husband who installs locks like that for his job. This did not detract from our stay, however. We wished we could stay longer. Very sweet unit and our pup enjoyed the back garden.

I would highly recommend Willow cottage and Helmsley for a stay. The cottage is central & walking distance to all of Helmsley. Lovely little market town with lots of great restaurants. Overall the cottage was a nice size with the decor nicely reflecting Yorkshire. Great communication and management for check in/check out & had all the essentials needed within the cottage & very clean. If you’re looking for a cozy getaway or just somewhere to lay your head after a day out exploring the beautiful Yorkshire - this would be a perfect choice!

Willow cottage was a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we required and the house was to a very high standard and nice and cosy. It's perfectly located for trips to the coast and surrounding areas with space to park for free outside. We loved Helmsley itself which is a quaint place with lots of fabulous shops, bakeries and restaurants. The food we had was superb. In all this was a fabulous place to stay and I would definitely return.

Lovely place, clean, fab little garden, quiet, in a central location and walking distance to shops pubs etc. We couldn’t seem to get parked right outside but managed to park round the corner. Would definitely go back. Enjoyed our stay…
