We stayed three nights at White Lodge and loved it. It’s a very spacious, comfortable home. The beds are comfy and overall the house was clean, had a fully stocked kitchen and has lovely homely feel. The garden is private and while it may need some work, it’s lovely opening the conservatory doors and walking straight into your private sanctuary. The team are very responsive to messages and friendly: impressive. Locationally, White Lodge sits in the beautiful village of Scalby, has several coffee shops, pubs and the beautiful Wrea Head Country Hotel nearby for lunch, dinner or a drink. It’s as good as it gets. Thank you 🙏

This is our second stay at the White Lodge , it’s such a beautiful house in a perfect private location with plenty of room for a big family. We were happy to see that the weeds and garden area had been tidied up although the garden furniture had been placed under trees where it was covered in debris . The overall cleanliness is not up to a good standard at all, the floors were covered in dirt and crumbs so to feel comfortable we had to clean them ourselves, the black furniture was very dusty throughout the house . But overall we love the location , the space and privacy it gives , so we will be back . I’m just hoping these comments are read by the owners and perhaps they replace the current cleaners to ones that actually want to clean and do a good job .

We enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious and nicely decorated. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need to cook. And specially enjoyed the garden. Grown trees all round front of the property what looked as great for privacy and shield from wind, but if you take closer look, there were little entrances between bushes and you get to beautiful tree what my daughter just loved to climb, we spent there lot of time.

Property is well located and spacious which are real positives. However, dusty and not as clean as expected in places, required further cleaning by us. Suggest a deep clean of property is needed or longer cleaning between guests. Main issue for us was that the outside patio is not as advertised. Overgrown with spiked weeds (brambles/thistles) I raised this with the host a week before arrival on reading other negative review comments in relation to this. I also spoke to a lady at the management company on the phone who assured me that if it was an issue when we arrived to contact and they would resolve. 9 nights later and several messages this wasn’t resolved. We have young children for whom patio would be dangerous in this condition and so was not usable for duration of stay. Disappointing given good weather and when listing highlights this as a feature and states garden is well maintained. Received a partial refund on property for which I am grateful when chased up through Airbnb.

We had a fantastic stay in Scalby. The house was perfect – clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was ideal, with plenty to see and do nearby while still being peaceful and relaxing. Communication from the hosts was excellent throughout, and the instructions for check-in and the property were clear and easy to follow. Most importantly, the kids had a brilliant time, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We’d happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the area.

Lovely house, tidy and very spacious , felt quiet and peaceful yet not far from everything you needed , we felt the house needed a deep clean as lots of cobwebs in several places Sadly the garden was awful with badly overgrown prickly bushes and massive weeds , it seems like it hasn’t been done for a while, disappointed as the weather was hot and sunny I rang to report it so hopefully it will be sorted I would definitely stay again we really enjoyed the break.

The house was excellent and had everthing you would need for a holiday, home from home. It was easy access to other places of interest. I would certainly recommend it to others. However our one disappointment was the state of the garden and patio area. Totally overgrown with nettles and weeds some atleast a foot high. Certainly did not look like that on pictures. I have taken pictures of the areas concerned.

my partner and I took our 3 kids age 14 11 and 8 and they all love the space and how big and comfortable it was. its a beautiful house and the pictures was just how it was when we got there. it was actually bigger then expected. Great value for what you got. there's a great little super market (proudfoot) close by also a few pubs really close. the people around the area we spoke to were very friendly. having kids they wanted to play in the garden area which is a nice size unfortunately the grass was a bit over grown which spoilt them been able to play properly in the garden. this was the only downfall we had. and its the first thing you see on arriving so wasn't quite sure why they hadn't cut it. we walked to the beech it was a good 30 minutes walk which we all enjoyed. the shops was about 15 minutes walk. we've stayed at a few air B and Bs and this has been the best so far. I would definitely stay again.

We had stayed here last year and the heating wasn’t on. This year I messaged quite a few times to remind them to put heating in as we had our grand daughter . We arrived and the place was freezing with no hot water. I don’t normally put bad reviews but this was not acceptable especially after I had asked numerous times and no one had mentioned that the boiler had broken. We had to check into the local pub at 10 pm with a little one. Airbnb were very good and thankfully we managed to find somewhere to accommodate our party.

We really enjoyed our weekend at the house. It was a beautiful house but could definitely do with a better clean. There were cobwebs in the bathrooms and seemed like the place hadn’t been vacuumed for a while. The garden was in dire need of some TLC, it wasn’t the nicest place to sit. The house was as described room wise and we all loved it. Thank you!

Good comms but sadly left in a very dusty state with cobwebs in a number of places and garden was in kept. However they did communicate well and when we advised we had left some clothes in error they did arrange a collection. Sadly, that info was not passed on to housekeeping who were unaware when we turned up. Luckily a lady appeared by chance who could let us in and pick the items up!

Great location and the property has been renovated to a good standard internally. The outside let it down slightly - they really need to invest in some garden maintenance. Everything outside was tired and the weeds were literally 4 or 5 feet tall. The green bin was overflowing when we arrived. There were quite a lot of cobwebs inside the house and a lot of spiders. Of course this happens.. but it seemed as though the property had been vacant a while post-cleaning. There are two pubs locally which are both great, a cafe, tea rooms and a shop. We booked this house as it is close to the open air theatre. We had a great stay, but it would’ve been excellent if the outside had been maintained better, and the property had been cleaned closer to our arrival date.

Great clean home with plenty of space. Fantastic communication with the management company. Lovely location with pub, cafe and shops just a two minute walk away... with some lovely longer walks on your doorstep. Would stay again if I'm in the area.

White Lodge was very well situated so that access to Whitby and Scarborough centre and beachfront was easy. The house was spacious and well appointed. Scalby village was in walking distance with a range of pubs and shops close by.

A lovely home, very spacious and private with easy parking and gardens for the children. Everything in the home was in good condition and felt safe for young children - one morning, someone came to complete outdoor maintenance of the property but happily waited when asked to as the little one was upset by this. Great location, close enough with great access to attractions, local supermarket, waterpark, park, beach etc whilst maintaining privacy and a very good sized property. Would have loved earlier check-in/ later check-out to enjoy the property longer.

Apart from the garden which was very scruffy it was a nice and comfortable on the inside. It was as described though the £90 cleaning fee was not value for money as there were lots of cobwebs and spiders on ceilings and in corners. Location great and close to a fantastic pub. Kitchens and bathrooms clean and the lodge was in a quiet spot. Overall good but a little more attention to detail would have made it excellent!

The house is lovely inside and the village we just love as stayed before. The house was spacious with very comfy beds. Big negative it’s winter and we had an 8 month old with us and on arrival the house was freezing and took a good hour to warm up. So would recommend heating out on first thing in the winter on days of arrival. Also the garden really needs a tidy up. Drain was full of leaves so over flowing . Overall loves the house and would and hopefully stay again.

The property was very well furnished but we did have a few disappointments. The garden and patio were unkept. The kitchen only had 3 cooking pots/pans which was very limiting when cooking. And we found the property very hot even after we turned the heating off. These aside, we would be happy to book this property again as it served us very well.

A lovely home. A few things that could be improved .... firstly the garden needs weeding and a bit of maintenance. The drive area for turning a car around is quite tight so larger cars may struggle. It's too close to a blind bend to reverse out the property. It was cold when we arrived and took a while to heat through, then figured out quite a few of the radiator valves were closed off so once this was sorted it was fine. Beds were very comfy and despite the above we enjoyed our stay. 2 pubs not far away for meals however they were busy so would recommend booking in advance for meals

The house is big and bright so there was plenty of space for 6 adults and 2 infants. Lots of social spaces. Good sized bathrooms. Scalby is a beautiful little village and there is a shop and pub close by in walking distance. My only quibble is that I didn’t enjoy booking through an agency. They ask you to pay a £250 deposit with £10 admin fee, or £25 non refundable fee in case you break something which felt an easy way to make money. I’ve never been asked that before. They also did not give me check in details on time and I had to call a couple of times (to listen to music on hold for a while) before getting through. It’s a pleasant stay overall but felt it lacked the warmth of an actual one person host. The garden also hadn’t been mowed for several weeks so it all felt a bit meh when you take into account the overnight price and £90 clean. The house was relatively clean and the house was warm. It was stocked with tea, coffee, salt etc.

We were very pleasantly surprised with the house, it was spacious and clean. The property was excellent overall, although being seasoned airb&b visitors we are used to welcome packs of which there was nothing l! And also more accommodating managers, we found them a little unhelpful. For instance when I initially I requested all rooms to be made up as kingsize I was told to call back a few days before to make this request. Equally when I asked for an early check in I was told to call back the day of arrival and even though I knew no one was in prior to us, as we were offered the property for the previous day. When I called it was oh well we really can’t help you!!!! I think the management company were disappointing versus the quality of the property. Although I would also note the garden and hedging in to the driveway needs attention.

The house was beautiful and perfect for our needs as a multi generational family group and situated in a lovely village, which meant everything was walkable (shop, local pubs). Although we were a bit disappointed on arrival that the bedrooms had not been configured as doubles as we requested and the house was cold, as no heating had been switched on for us in advance of our arrival, once we had resolved that, we really enjoyed everything the house had to offer and had a fantastic weekend. We would definitely stay again.

What a lovely house White Lodge is. Spacious, very comfortable, warm and cosy and ideal for the 5 of us who stayed there in order to celebrate a 100 birthday. We visited both The Plough and The Yew Tree Cafe, both in walking distance, and enjoyed their fine fayre very much. We will most certainly recommend White Lodge to our family and friends.

This is a stunning, spacious house!! The house is in a beautiful setting with gardens all round it. The house was very large even for 6 of us. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had every thing you could want to use for making meals. The fridge/freezer was a great size and we used the shelves in the utility room as a larder for storing our dry foods. The toilet downstairs was great for daytime use and the bathroom and en-suite were excellent. The lounge was so great with two huge sofas and a tv. We did not use the dining room very much as we ate in the kitchen most of the time. Unfortunately the weather was not brilliant so we did not use the conservatory or the garden, but both were available. We walked to the Plough to eat and the food and the service were excellent. It was worth booking as they got quite busy. We also ate breakfast at the Yew Tree which opened at 10.00a.m. so after we packed up it was great to go there. There is parking for at least 2 cars.

What a fantastic place to stay just a stones throw away from Scarborough. The house itself is beautiful and was really clean with everything you would need. The village is beautiful with two pubs and a handy shop within walking distance. Couldn’t fault the accommodation or the communication throughout and we would absolutely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at White Lodge from 21st -25th August with our family of 6 adults and 2 infants. The house was beautiful and the village of Scalby was very peaceful with many amenities close by or within easy walking distance. White Lodge is a lovely large home with plenty of space both inside and out. It is peaceful and quiet and the perfect place to relax for a few days. The beds were comfy and bathrooms all worked well. The kitchen had everything we needed. Scalby is a beautiful village with a cafe, village shop and two great pubs serving delicious food. All are walkable from the house.

White lodge is a beautiful peaceful “big” house to stay at Within quiet surroundings. The beds where very comfy and theres loads of space in the house, and rooms. The local pub & tea room is only short distance to walk. Getting into Scarborough takes about 10 mins in the car. The local chippy is 5 mins away and serves awesome food. My only critique is that the rooms had a few cobwebs. Apart from that White Lodge was spot on.

Lovely private house in an ideal location for our family’s weekend in Scarborough. The only negative was the cleanliness of the house. When we arrived there were laundry bags and rubbish bags left at the back door as we entered the kitchen. Not only the rubbish, which had obviously been left in error by the cleaner, you could tell the bathrooms hadn’t been properly cleaned as the sinks were dirty and there were dusty surfaces alongside unhoovered rooms throughout the property.

It would have been good if there was a 2nd tv in property as our teenagers brought their PS5 for the evenings and had nowhere to play it. This is a fantastic house to stay in. Even for six people, there is loads of room. We were lucky to have great weather so enjoyed sitting out on the patio and the grass, but if the weather is poor, there is a conservatory to use instead as well as the lounge. The only possible negative is there was absolutely no provisions in the house of any sort, including salt and pepper And just a single tea towel. But overall, it’s a fantastic place and we will definitely come again

A beautiful home in pretty Scalby- very easy to walk in to Scarborough on the Whitby to Scarborough old rail line path. Some nice pubs in the vicinity. It was easy to check in and check out. The biggest negative was that the outside wasn’t very inviting, it was a lovely big garden, but the patio was full of weeds and the grass wasn’t cut, we think it was sadly a waste. Also there was only 1 sauce pan and 1 frying pan, so not ideal if you’re cooking for a group.

Lovely spacious home that looked as good as the photos. We stay in Scarborough a lot to visit family and this was good value for all the space and comfort. It could do with some more pots and pans for cooking for 6 people and also a better supply of basics such as dishwasher tablets, dish cloths and tea towels which we had to go out and get. It seems a shame to scrimp on such items when it’s such a lovely home. We’d be happy to return but we’ll just pack a few kitchen basics next time.

We had a wonderful stay here in January and the house is beautiful. Location great and a nice walk to the Plough pub for Sunday dinner. So clean and welcoming and wish we were staying longer. Loved sitting round the table playing trivial pursuit for the evening.

We have just come back from a 4-night stay at this property as a family of 5 + a 6-month old baby over Christmas. We were a little skeptical at first as the property seemed too good to be true for the price (given size and Christmas period) with no reviews on Airbnb, but we decided to risk it and we couldn’t be happier that we did! The house was spotless, and really well-equipped (we managed a full Christmas dinner with the crockery, cutlery and cookware provided). The beds are comfortable and the house has been finished so nicely. It felt like a real treat to be here, which is exactly what we were looking for. It is just a 9 min drive to Scarborough coast also, so comfortably out of the brouhaha but incredibly easy to dip into it. Cannot recommend this property and Host&Stay enough. They were incredibly communicative throughout. If I was really splitting hairs, the availability a cot on site to avoid bringing one would have just been the cherry on the cake!
