Spent a lovely 3 days with friends over the new year. The house was as advertised, cosy, comfortable, welcoming. The information from the host was thorough, excellent directions, checking in and out details straight forward, lots of local information provided and more offered if required. All the bedrooms were spacious and had bathrooms, the ground floor room wasn't en suite but it did mean each couple had their own. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery, the aga was lovely and warm but if you chicken out there is a kettle and toaster. The house was quite remote, as we expected, so don't expect to be walking down to the pub in the evening. We tended to go out for the day and come back and enjoy the house in the evenings. We had a wander round Monmouth one day and Symonds Yat the second day. Lots of options for pub lunches and dog walks.

We stayed here for our family’s Christmas and had a wonderful time. Really lovely property, gorgeous surroundings and such a nice touch to arrive with the place decorated for Christmas, including a tree. Beds were really comfy and the log burning fire added to the cosy feel. Garden was perfect for all our dogs with proper fencing. Kitchen was really well kitted out and the owners gave us great instructions for the Aga, which really helped with cooking a full Christmas dinner! It really felt like a proper home away from home to celebrate together. Thanks so much!

Stayed with family and it was just what we needed. House had been decorated for Christmas, the lady owner called us to make sure all was ok. House feels very homely and is in a beautiful location. What 3 words might be useful as a back up for directions. We found the barn to be clean, the beds were comfortable. Slow drainage in downstairs shower but easily sortable. Clear instructions on how to work and use things. Would definitely stay here again!

This house had a lot of character and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. It had nice touches, such as the dog treats and ciders left for us. Great sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. Lovely garden with great views and secure for dogs. However unfortunately we felt it needed some ‘love’, with a lot of aspects being quite run down, such as the rusting dishwasher door and the rotting gate. The house also did not feel particularly clean, as there was a lot of hair, dust and cobwebs. We did also feel the house had a number of ‘rules’ which we respected however felt it was hard to keep track. The location provided was 10 minutes away from the actual house, and whilst the host did provide written instructions, I was unable to follow as I was driving. This was frustrating as we had booked a food delivery to the incorrect address. Unfortunately due to these reasons we would probably not visit again, which is a shame as it has great potential

Stunning location, beautiful property and a wonderful stay. The owners instructions to find the place were spot on, we had used the Airbnb map directions which took us to a place in the village a couple of miles away. Once we stopped and read the owners directions we were ok, a suggestion maybe to pin drop the location and message guests . The barn is beautiful, perfectly spaced for us, 3 couples, my wife and I and our daughters with partners and one dog. Nice touch with a baked cake and some ciders. Plenty of kitchen equipment , kitchen is perfect and the Aga provides ample heat . Sitting room with log burner , log burner and huge sofas allowed for hours of games and laughter. Jenga never fails. Comfortable sleeping arrangements and the joy of ‘ countryside silence’ great walks within 20 minute drive.

We had a beautiful stay at the barn. A weekend definitely wasn’t long enough! Really lovely touch with the homemade Victoria sponge cake in the fridge too! Beds were incredibly comfortable!

Beautiful cottage right in the middle of the countryside. Great views of the surrounding landscape. Really secluded and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden til dark watching the sunset over the fields and hills. The house was spotless, and well appointed with everything you’d need. Host was communicative and friendly Thoroughly recommended

This house exceeded our expectations in every way- the outside area is beautiful and looks out over fields and hills at the back, also enclosed so was safe for the children to explore, all the rooms were beautiful and our bed was so comfy! The garden faces west so a lovely place to sit and watch the sun set. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks very much, we hope to be back!

We loved our stay at Tregaer Mill Barn. It really is a beautiful place, exactly as described. The surrounding area is gorgeous, perfect for walking. Raglan is only a short drive away, ideal for provisions. The house itself was perfect for us, we were there to celebrate New Year with two other couples. The kitchen / dining room is large and ideal for our meal times and the lounge was perfect for evenings chatting by the fire. Very social. There are three great size bedrooms, two upstairs with en-suite and one downstairs with a bathroom literally next door. We had a wonderful time and loved it there. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to revisit.

We were initially put off by a previous review claiming cameras in the house. Thankfully we decided to go anyway. The cameras were not hidden and were documented in the Welcome Pack. We were told to turn them or remove them, but to put them back in situ when leaving. They are purely for security when no guests are there. We've travelled! We have never been to a home so beautiful, so private and so comfortable in such breathtaking surroundings. That view was amazing. The beds and the pillows were next level comfortable. It's always a worry when properties claim the garden is fully fenced.. This garden was fully fenced with sheep fencing too, so I never had to worry that my dog would get out. She's an important part of my life so to see her happy and enjoy being there, made it the perfect place to stay. We will definitely return.

The location and house are beautiful. There is lots to do in the area (hikes, walks, biking), and restaurants/supermarkets are only 10-15 min drive away. The property is not the easiest to find - best to check with the host for the correct location by phone well in advance of arriving there.

Lovely place. Beautiful converted barn, well off the beaten track. Spacious, clean, comfy and cosy. Views were stunning. Would be 5*, except: 1. Address was patently wrong - the Google Maps pin sent on the day directed us to a house a mile down the road. Without signal and on a rainy day, it was a pain trying to find the barn 2. Cameras in the living room. I understand the want to keep an eye on things, but if I'm being surveilled I'd at least like to be told in advance.

We loved staying at the Barn. The location is very remote (no properties nearby) and the views are stunning overlooking roaming hills. The house is well appointed. It was lovely and warm when we arrived (was 4C outside and snowing). I personally loved the Aga, as we have a wood fired Rayburn at home. The living area was very comfortable and stylish while also having a traditional feel. The three bedrooms are very large and comfortable. We would stay again

Tregaer Mill Barn is a lovely house in a beautiful setting. The sitting room is spacious and comfortable. Everything was spotless. The views are delightful, especially from the downstairs double bedroom and the garden is a lovely, quiet space in which to sit and enjoy the views. It's within striking distance of local sites and activities. The aga made the house a little too hot in a heatwave, which was the only downside.

Really nice home in the heart of the welsh countryside. Property was very clean with good facilities it felt more like a home than a rental. The property is quite far away from anywhere and a little tricky to find but great for a rural retreat.

Nice to be in a ‘ lived in ‘ house . Very quaint barn conversion and comfy rooms . The post code on. the airbnb website does not relate to the property at all and this needs to be addressed asap as the property is several miles away and not easy to find . The ‘ agas’ are great to cook on if you are used to that method of cooking, otherwise can be difficult, also warm the bedroom above significantly in the summer.. Our daughter mentioned that the rug in the lounge could do with a clean as our 8 month grandson gathered hairs when on the rug . Overall however, a nice property with a lot of character .

We had real trouble at this property I'm afraid which was a shame. No heating or hot water for the whole time (sat in coats/hats, beds so cold they felt wet), we left early. I appreciate the effort made by the property owner but unfortunately it just wasn't enough - electric heaters would have been good as an absolute minimum. It's in a nice location and is spacious but seems to be managed at arm's length so the little things that would otherwise be noticed weren't (host manual poor, the welcome gift was a pack of out of date crisps and soft drink, dirty towels but not all were checked because of a short stay). Initial partial (yet fair) refund request was instantly rejected without explanation or alternative way to compensate, I imagine this was agreed between the host and their agent. Kheem from Airbnb however has been very helpful in granting a part refund and is a delight to deal with. The property, its size and environment would be worth the money if it had met expectations.

Very good place, very clean & good facilities while maintaining a good character. Easy check in & check out. Nice cosy bedrooms with very good living room space. Finding the place may be difficult just follow the step by step instructions in the guide book. Host & Stay can make this a bit more clearer in their communication.

We loved our stay. The beautiful stone mill house was wonderfully cosy and quiet with a pretty garden and lovely outlook over the rolling hills. Country kitchen with a warming Aga. Modern amenities and soft comfy beds Highly recommended, thanks so much. Would definitely visit again.

The actual property was nice, however some aspects were completely unacceptable. There was no hot water for the first day of the stay and communication with the host was limited and dismissive despite this being a necessity in an air bnb. We felt that the host did not care about this.

Lovely holiday home, we would definitely return if ever going to that area. Great for the dogs they loved the garden. Didn’t realise when I booked that I’d be going through Host & Stay’s, responses from them was not always prompt and I do prefer dealing direct with the home owners. Luckily once we’d checked in there were details there in the visitor book for the home owner (couldn’t find back door key to let dogs out and Host & Stays were not able to help luckily home owner was prompt in replying) Overall a lovely peaceful stay lovely comfy beds and linen very rested couple of days.

Great stay at Tregaer Mill Barn. A very homely property, great for a family weekend, in a lovely part of the country with stunning views across the countryside. Only negative: the listing states that all three bedrooms have king size or double beds, whereas one of the rooms on the first floor actually has two singles.

We had a rocky start with the property due to unforseen issues with the boiler, but the log burner and aga kept the property extremely cosey downstairs. Our hosts worked tirelessly to rectify any and all issues, and were on hand at all times to answer any questions. The way the issues were handled swiftly tells a lot about the care the hosts have for their guests, and these issues were no fault of theirs... Just bad luck. Their hardwork and dedication to making my stay as comfortable as can be is reflected in my review. Great scenery and off the grid location, beautiful accommodation, cider and snacks layed out on arrival, and comfy beds for the best sleep Iv had in ages. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic cottage, which was larger than we were expecting. It has all home comforts and the wood burner was a real bonus during the winter evenings. Each bedroom had use of its own bathroom, which was perfect for the five adults. I would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely book again if returning to the area.
