What a great location and the views are just spectacular! From the kitchen/living area you can see the lighthouses and St Mary’s Church and the Abbey. From the bedroom window there’s a wonderful view of the town. It’s very centrally located, and easy to walk all over town. There are a lot of stairs, so it may not be an easy climb for folks with mobility issues. But it’s a very nice, clean modern space. The hosts are helpful and informative, and quick to respond. We really enjoyed our time here!

Pros - Location incredible. The views are fantastic. Right in the middle of whitby. Easy enough to just pop back when needing the toliet or to grab some food, incredible. The lay out and the finishing touches in the flat make it feel high quality. The windows are amazing to see out of. The bed is so comfy. Cons- sofa broke first 30 mins we was there and left us only able to relax on the bed or at the dining room chairs. ( This was noted 3 weeks ago and should have been replaced or fixed better. Host and stay have been contacted and are opening up a investigation into a partial refund which I feel is satisfactory considering that you do enjoy relaxing on the sofa after a big day out and not being so made us feel a bit lost) You need to bring items like sponges and extra toliet rolls. One roll is not enough for our stay. All in all was enjoyable. Shame about sofa.

Really good apartment close to loads of things to see and do / if any criticism as it was a lovely apartment it was the little things like no washing up liquid, no kitchen towel, only one toilet roll that let it down a bit. The settee was broken and just needs propping up at the front and the hair dryer was missing which meant we had to go buy one when we could have brought one easily with us - little things but let an otherwise immaculate flat down - we loved the place 😁

We stayed at The Penthouse recently and had a wonderful stay! My partner and I thought the views were absolutely stunning from the apartment, and the layout made us feel at home. Very close to the centre of town in Whitby and was easy to go anywhere, and access to the apartment was easy. Will definitely use host & stay again in the future, especially for other locations and choices for holiday. Thank you Host & Stay!

The apartment was just as the photos on Airbnb, it was easy to find and had everything we needed. The main thing to know is that the penthouse, as you would imagine is at the top so it's 4 flights up. While this gave us some exercise it may be tough with people with mobility issues or very young children. However it's a really good apartment and close to everything you need.

The apartment was lovely, great views and nicely furnished. Our trip unfortunately was spoiled due to the cleanliness of the apartment. On arrival we had noticed the bed had been made but nothing had been cleaned. There was bits still all over the floors tea stains on the sides and spilt fluids on the bedside tables. Also there was two dirty tissues next to the bed with something on them. The cleanliness of this place really let it down as it would have been a great stay otherwise but unfortunately hygiene is a must for me so I will not be returning.

We had a lovely few days in Whitby staying at the penthouse. My partner even proposed to me in the apartment during our visit! 💍 The apartment itself is lovely, very clean, amazing views and everything you need for a holiday home. There are plenty of places to eat and drink a walkable distance away and easy to get in and out of town to explore the moors too!

Overall the apartment was excellent, it matched exactly how H&S said it was. If I was going to be critical, and this is just a general comment and in no way detracted from our stay, the only minus points are…… The stairs (69) could be a major issue for some but didn’t bother us. 😰 No drawers etc for putting clothes away. Just a series of coat hangers in the corridor that weren’t practical for knickers and socks etc 😊

Came for our anniversary weekend. not tonnes do do in whitby in the off season so we ended up going to a few pubs and just chilling in this beautiful property watching films as we wanted to make the most of it. bed was so comfortable, amazing views from the property. plenty of amenities to use if you wanted to cook etc. key box was a tiny bit stiff but we got a response straight away when we struggled. honestly wish we had another night in the place it was so relaxing.

Great location right by the station and only a couple of minutes from the main shops and restaurants. Comfy bed, clean, and great views from the bedroom and living area. There are a lot of stairs which we were fine with but good to know before booking. Only a couple of minor things would've been nice like a doormat in the apartment for wet shoes and maybe a divider/curtain to block light from the living area window into the bedroom. Neither were big issues though! Would book again.

A beautiful and modern attic apartment with great views and a central location. Unfortunately, the furniture is already heavily worn and shows corresponding signs of wear and tear as well as dirt. The surfaces were dusty, and it was obviously not thoroughly cleaned after the last guests, as shoe prints were still visible everywhere. The price-performance ratio is still okay.

A very nice place to stay. We had a bit of trouble with the key box but managed it eventually. It was very windy during the second night with a storm coming in which kept us awake. This made us wonder what would happen in the event of a fire as there was no information in the apartment that we could see. However, the apartment was very comfortable with good views of Whitby, and we enjoyed our stay.

Wow! What an absolutely beautiful place to stay. I have stayed in lots of air bnb’s in Whitby and this was 100% the best. The penthouse was incredibly clean and well equipped for our stay. The property is located in an ideal location to allow you to explore the stunning seaside town. The views allowed us to see all the sights of Whitby, including the Piers and The Abby. I would recommend the penthouse to anyone wanting to stay in Whitby for a chilled weekend. Thank you for creating such a lovely place to stay. I hope to return soon.

Beautiful views out over the town. Just a note for anyone who is mobility impaired, the stairs to the top are tight and steep. But a top property.

The apartment was a nice apartment however on arrival it was evident it had not be cleaned. Floors not hoovered and cleaned, crockery dirty, no dusting done, surfaces hadn't be cleaned and the bathroom had mould/body fat stains in it. We reported this instantly and the customer service was poor, we ended up going out to buy supplies to clean it ourselves. Was told cleaners would return the next day and they did not! We were away on our mini moon to celebrate getting married and this put a real dampener on our first day! A real shame as the apartment was actually quite nice and in a great location. But unfortunately the cleanliness let it down.

We had mixed feelings about the stay we had. Positives:- 1. Modern spacious penthouse flat 2. Very comfortable bed 3. Views from the windows were outstanding Negatives:- 1. Bird faeces down the walls and dirty carpets 2. One wine glass 3. Toothpaste stains and hair in the bathroom 4. We were left two coffee pods for 2 people for a 2 night stay, in our opinion this wasn’t enough. In any event, the coffee pod machine did not work. 5. The kettle did not work meaning we had to boil water in a pan to make hot drinks during our stay. 6. The flat was very hot and could have benefited from air-con, though I appreciate it is a penthouse and open to being hot in summer time. I must say that despite it being a lovely apartment, we were promised a functioning kitchen and this had its faults and problems. Salt was rubbed in the wound after booking by asking for a security deposit to cover damages and then upon arriving items were dirty and broken. Expensive for the experience we had.

Although we had a great stay, there is some room for improvement. First of all, the entrance / outside to the property is very heavily covered in bird faeces, even on the lock box which is used to retrieve keys.The carpets in the property were quite stained, this isn’t a massive issue but first impressions count. The Penthhouse its self is decorated and furnished beautifully and appeared clean. However, there were makeup stains on the bedding and again the carpets were a little stained. The kitchen area was very well equit, even had a coffee machine, washing machine and dishwasher! Which we thought was great. The main issue I have is with the deposits/ waver. I feel £250 is very expensive and to add insult to injury, a £10 administration fee. I think when paying that much for a deposit, you should be getting every penny back. Nothing is stated in handbook or information given on Airbnb on why this £10 is required. Great stay overall but I feel some improvement is required.

BEWARE OF EXTRA COST After we had booked the Penthouse we were surprised to find that Host & Stay require all guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 non-refundable administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 (non-refundable) which covers you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay. This is at the end of the listing details, but we feel that it should be more obvious in the main listing. After your stay it takes Host & Stay 7 days to notify you that your £250.00 Damage Deposit will be refunded and then up to a further 5 days to clear in your bank. A long time to wait for YOUR money. We wanted to cancel but we would have lost our £85 bonus for being Airbnb Super Hosts. The Penthouse itself is fine except for the filthy windows which spoil the 4th floor views. However the entrance area is down a dark alleyway and covered in bird muck. We had to remove our shoes so as not to mess up the stair carpet.

The apartment is nicely designed and very comfortable, the bed was extremely comfortable. The location is great, only a minute from the harbour. Parking was easy to find and only minutes from the apartment. My only complaint would be that check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am. Seeing that most shops close at 5pm and cafe's open at 9am that not leaving much time to settle and have a look around on arrival day, then not enough time to go for breakfast before having to check out. This didn't stop us having a great stay though, I would still recommend the apartment.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The accommodation was lovely. comfortable and well maintained little extras like milk, tea and coffee made the first hours easy to settle in. Very well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom and bedroom. Only a few small problems, nearly 70 steps to get to the apartment. You are told this so was a bit of a laugh climing them. The cleaning team need to improve. Not saying the place was dirty as it wasn't, but the bedside table was dusty, along with the bedroom window. Also there was a old bag or bathroom rubbish in a bag under the sink and tissue on the floor into the bathroom. They just need to check round once they clean. Easy fix I would think. Would definitely stay there again.

Really disappointed with where we stayed. Not clean and loads of things broken. Hardly anything provided. 2 plates, 2 bowls. No hand soap. Washing machine but no laundry detergent. Dishwasher needed rinse aid and salt. We had to clean the plates ourselves before use and the table had the last occupants dinner stains still on it. Tv wouldn’t tune in. Dirty windows. Dusty apartment in general. Windows look like they’ve never been cleaned. Table damaged. Clock broken Towels were ripped and tatty. No oven glove provided. Many more things not right with the flat. Absolutely zero pride taken by Host and Stay. Crazy expensive for the state of the place. Supposed to be a lux apartment but it was dreadful. Not even clean. They charge an expensive damage waiver and cleaning fee which is clearly just a money making scheme when you stay in an apartment with broken items and is dirty upon arrival. Poor communication with company point blank refused to refund cleaning fee.

Our first stay was amazing. We were lucky enough to be able to check in early and leave our bags behind to explore the beach which was a short walk with beautiful sights. We had a gorgeous view from the kitchen windows and the kitchen itself was modern and had all the cooking equipment we needed. There are many lovely restaurants and and cafes in the area. Everything is walking distance including the abbey and the art museum. Even though it was raining for some of our stay, we could enjoy our time inside the beautiful apartment watching the waves from the kitchen window or watching shows on the Tv. We will definitely be back next year!

I've stayed with Host and Stay before and this time was a bit of a let down. The property was very unclean when we arrived and pretty off putting. Credit to Host and Stay for responding when we got in touch and they did send out another cleaner but even they didnt seem to hoover the property or deal with dirty surfaces. Ultimately we had some money refunded which was fair but for a short stay, the state of the property really took the shine off things. Bit of a shame as its a great location.

It has to be said, this flat is beautiful with some amazing views of the city and the sea. Yes It is 4th floor up with stairs only but it is totally do- able and when there, this beautiful place and view makes you forget it. The bed is very comfy, the sofa long which is so good and rare when you are tall, so loved it. The kitchen has all you need. And overall the flat was spotless. Being very central it is perfect for any activities, taking a bus or train or walking around the town. I had a problem with the WiFi but it has to be said that the people of the agency where great at keeping in touch and informed. Very much appreciated. I would totally come back to this beautiful flat for my next time. I am still not over that amazing view!

Beautiful open plan loft apartment. Nicely furnished with a stunning picture window from the bedroom. Some lovely views of the Abbey (if you open the Veluxs). Thoroughly recommend the Penthouse. Just one world of warning- as the name suggests, It’s at the top, there are 67 steps to reach the door (yes, 67)!! Add those to the 199 up to the Abbey and you have a true workout!

This apartment made a special weekend away even more wonderful. The cleanliness was faultless! The location was perfect and, even though it was in the middle of town, it felt miles away from everyone due to being high up. Perfect! Not to mention the views, the 60 odd steps up to the apartment were worth it just to see Whitby from above. I would highly recommend this place and will consider staying again in future.

There should be a health warning on the amount of stairs (67) up to the penthouse. This was never mentioned in the apartment description. There was absolutely no hanging space or hangers provided The parking was an issue and not properly explained. The parking system is complicated and resulted in us getting a ticket whilst we loaded the car before checkout. The apartment was however very well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed the stay

The flat is lovely looking and the views are great. Be warned the stairs up to the flat are a lot! Don’t bother with the parking tickets and just park in the St Hildas car park. Would recommend as they fixed the issue we had really quickly!

Excellent location in the heart of Whitby. Perfect for exploring Whitby and surrounding locations. Stunning views for miles! Penthouse is ideal for a short stay as long as you don’t mind walking up the 64 steps to get there! Would happily return for a stay again.

This is lovely penthouse in the centre of Whitby. The place is very clean, comfortable and spacious. There are great hiking trails that start from the town to local areas. Thank you for a lovely stay :-)

Great place to crash out in the centre of Whitby. The location is ideal - we didn't bother with the parking tickets provided as we arrived early and just parked the car in a close by 24 hour car park (cost us just under £10 for the day and didn't have to faff about). From the apartment you are able to walk anywhere in Whitby. The apartment is very clean and all the mod cons are available. We booked to stay for one night as was visiting other parts of Yorkshire and needed a place to get our heads down. Great views across both sides of Whitby and the Velux windows allow you to pop your head out among the rooftops. Don't forget that the apartment is on the 4th floor so you need good legs to make it up to the top (it is worth it!). The host (a management company by the looks of it) communicated well with us and we felt looked after. I would recommend this place. Thanks for letting us stay!

Lovely stay in prime location. Not a moments walk from lovely shops and eatting venues. The penthouse apartment was very clean and stylish. We particularly liked the views of the town from the large bedroom window and view out of the living area skylight.

This is an amazing apartment with a great view. It is recently decorated and immaculately presented. Bed was incredibly comfortable and whole experience was similar to a hotel than an Airbnb. Great location for exploring Whitby. The apartment was spotlessly clean and I have no doubt it was "Covid Secure". Really great stay, thanks. One minor issue was sorted next day which is great service.

The Penthouse is an absolutely wonderful apartment located in the heart of Whitby. The apartment is finished to a very high standard and is a modern and sophisticated setting in the middle of the quaintness of Whitby. Whilst the 4 flights of stairs can feel like a workout, you are awarded by the views. We found ourselves constantly standing at the open window looking out at the Sea and up to the 199 steps. There are basic amenities including tea, coffee and sugar and cleaning products, even with some travel toiletries kindly provided in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the bath and shower were wonderful with very good water pressure. There is a dishwasher and also a combination washer/tumble dryer. We had no issue with parking but we did stay in October, during the COVID pandemic and our car was parked a 5 minute walk from the apartment. We would recommend this apartment to anyone and would definitely stay there again.

Great apartment, clean, modern and spacious. Great views of Whitby through bedroom window and living/kitchen skylights. Stocked with everything you need in the kitchenette including tea coffee sugar milk, extra toilet&kitchen roll, cleaning stuff, everything you would need. Good location, easy walk to bars, restaurants, shops. Plenty of areas where you could park with the provided permit for free. As it is on the 4th floor there is quite a few windy stairs to go up to reach your apartment but these are worth it for the views. Would 100% stay here again and reccomend to friends&family.

This is a very stylish comfortable apartment. We loved the central location in Whitby although when we visited the parking voucher spaces were all full, mid August so not surprised really. It was not an issue as we did find a car park nearby at a reasonable cost. The penthouse is on the 4th floor so you need to be fit enough to manage the stairs. The payoff for this are the amazing views from the bedroom & also the living room. The apartment is very clean & all facilities very well thought out.

Great space to be for a couple of days. Great views from the front and back of the penthouse especially as the sun rose above the Abbey ruins. Very close to the harbour. Rusty Shears a great place for breakfast and the French bistro Mademoiselles also lovely.

Lovely stay in The Penthouse! Spectacular views and beautiful decor! A fab, modern and spacious stay. Gutted to have to leave! Perfect location with everything in walking distance. Some great cafes in the street below! Only negative was parking being difficult. Plenty of big £10 per 24 hour car parks a 10-20 min walk away, but couldn’t find any spaces within designated zones in the 3 days we were there.

Lovely place, right in the centre. If you’re looking for parking, head straight to a public car park as there isn’t much available to use the parking permit with.

Fantastic location, fantastic space, very clean, everything covered, beautiful views.... have been coming to Whitby for as long as I can remember and this apartment was a breath of fresh air!
