The location of the flat was great, with easy walking distance to all of the sites around Scarborough. Parking was very straight forward, and the apartment was comfortable with all the key amenities. Upon arrival, the flat wasn't paticularly clean with washing up to do and dirty cutlery in the drawers. The worst bit was the smell in the shower room. I can see from previous reviewers that this has been a long standing issue, that has not been rectified but it was appalling. The shower room smells like raw sewage, and made the room unusable. We messaged the host twice during our stay but the response was very generic and unhelpful. I would not stay here again until this issue is resolved, as it put a dampener on our trip being without a shower. The kitchen does not have any basics such as oil/salt etc, which is fine but just to let other reviewers know to bring their own.

The apartment was stunning, clean, and quiet, value for money, and the host was very responsive even late in the evening, which was very appreciated. It was very easy to find and get into, it’s situated on a lovely quiet street. It’s a great bonus that the host provides paring passes to put in the window of the car. It would be to have a full list of bathroom amenities in the flat listed, as it would help out with packing a lot. The WiFi was a bit intermittent and there were signal issues which meant struggling either the TV sometimes. The front door of the flat rattled at times which was a little bit unsettling when not used to it. Thank you for an overall great stay :)

Central and easy walking to town/beach/park. Lovely decor, clean. Nice to have a king bed. WiFi not working and no heating. Host sent an engineer to sort heating the next day making the flat cosy! Still no WiFi though. Would stay again

A good base for attending a Live Concert @ The Open Air Theatre, within approx 10/15 minutes walking distance. Flat was comfortable and clean, but as reported by other reviewers there is an unpleasant smell from the shower room at times.

Everything was overall good. Plus: Good location, clean, neat, within the city. Minus: 1. Host charge if wanting to check in early. 2. Water pressure in shower is very weak. Grievance: the parking coupon was delivered a day later after many messages. Hosts must have a check lists for house keeper.

Well positioned apartment, in walking distance of all amenities and attractions. Apartment was clean and well stocked with all that was needed. Bed was very soft, not my ideal but husband liked it. Smell in shower room, which was strong but I’d run shower for 5 minutes before use it dissipated. Very comfortable stay.

I was quite displeased with the apartment after looking at reviews, I was excited to stay and had reached out to check regarding check in instructions. Upon arrival we saw a dirty towel left in the bedroom and left over rubbish, clearly not spotted when cleaned which made us a little hesitant what else could have been missed. The sofa had many stains on which were white in colour and off putting. I was upset as I had taken my partner away for the weekend and irritated that I felt the money paid did not represent what was received.

Clean well equipped flat but unfortunately the noise from the flat above was not good. We were considerate in making sure no doors banged and kept the TV noise down as asked. We were woken up on the first night at 11.30 with doors banging and lots of walking with creeks continuing for 10 mins and the second night woken up with similar timing loud outbursts doors banging etc. not happy being woken up on both nights. Bad smell in the shower and suggest changing the air freshener in the bathroom as not nice. We won’t use this flat again.

The overall place was great, but the bathroom smelt soo bad. There was mold in all windowsills and we had to buy mold killer spray to get rid of it. Which was left there for whoever was next. Don’t expect free parking also… Because we still didn’t receive free parking tickets until we left after being three weeks.

First impressions were very good, just like the pictures. We did notice some stains on the carpets, which I took pictures of. A workable kitchen, all that you need apart from oven gloves we had to improvise. It could benefit from a good dusting, cobwebs on light fittings, clock, skirting boards, and was a very strong drainage smell in the shower room. Overall we had a pleasant stay for a couple of nights

Great place to stay! Very close to the beach and town, with great local shops. Great size for what we needed - great kitchen with a good sized fridge as we stayed for a week and did our own cooking. Shower and toilet are in separate rooms but we managed.

After researching the property and deciding to stay we were disappointed to have to pay an additional accident insurance (approx £20 for our 3 nt stay). Having used air b&b on numerous occasions, this is the only property we have had to do this for. The property was lovely, comfortable and enjoyable.

Have just returned following a lovely 3 night stay at Skipper’s Rest. Easy to find and on street parking available opposite (parking permit was included) Lovely apartment finished to a high standard overlooking the cricket ground from bedroom. Nice small entrance area for shoes and hanging coats after return to the apartment after long days exploring the area. Large living/ kitchen area with good facilities and large flatscreen TV. Separate shower room and toilet. Plenty of plug sockets if required. Electric radiators in living area and bedroom, which are easy to use. All necessary requirements met to self cater, but alternative places to eat out relatively close by. Great location in North Bay Area within easy walk of North Bay beach (5mins) and town centre (15 mins) with South Bay and castle access. Great base for long walks in either direction when leaving the apartment. Lucky enough to see a large pod of dolphins whilst walking around the castle headlands on one day. Enjoyed.

Perfect stay at Skippers Rest. We had a gorgeous 2 night stay & made lost of lovely memories. The apartment was exactly as described, home from home and is a great location to both the beach and Scarborough town itself. The apartment felt safe & check in was really easy. There is also on road parking just outside, the hosts provide a permit for you to use during your stay which is really helpful. We gave 4 stars out of 5 for the following… 1. The shower room had a noticeable smell, like a fusty sort of smell, although it was clean and no signs of damp etc. 2. Very noisy neighbours upstairs, very unaware of just how loud they are, we heard everything - literally everything. This sometimes unsettled our dog so this was quite frustrating at times. Not sure if they are residents or guests? We totally understand this is not any fault of the host, but our feedback could improve this for those in the future. Overall we had a lovely stay & would not hesitate to stay here again.

very nice property good location , but living room table and placemats covered in dust, Stains on carpet and wall by light switch kitchen utensils grubby and needed cleaning, but the thing that spoilt the two nights we stayed there was the horrible foul smell that came from the shower room after the radiators were turned on , it was disgusting , we checked previous reviews and the host had had bad reviews about the smell and said it would be sorted out, we tried to stay out as long as we could to try and escape the smell , the apartment is lovely but it was badly spoilt by the smell and bad cleaning

We have stayed in Scarborough many many times before. We Normally stay in hotels which is ok but not ideal with our dogs. We take the dogs as they love the beach and endless walks that’s available. We saw this on here and thought we’d give it a try and it didn’t disappoint. The apartment was well styled had everything that you’d need or want. From reading some of the reviews before going we had mixed thoughts of the apartment. Yes it has the odd mark on the carpet (cream coloured) or odd mark on the paintwork. I just see this to be expected. With the turn around of guests you can’t physically clean carpets and touch up paintwork after every guest leaves. Far far better than any of the hotels we’d stayed in Scarborough. It was that good of experience we tried to book again before we left. Ample parking on the street. Convenience shops very close by. A pub within a few minute walk, 5-10min walk to beach and when that is all done come back and relax and Cook some food excellent

Fantastic apartment in an incredible location. The view of the cricket ground from the bedroom was great and you're only a couple of minutes walk away from the North Bay Beach. The entire apartment was well-furnished and comfortable. The only downsides were that one of our towels had a stain (which the host resolved immediately) and the shower room had a bit of a strange smell, but if you take those out of the equation then this is a 5-star apartment well worth the price. The only piece of advice I'd give is to get there mid-afternoon to park across from the apartment if you're not going on a weekend, as parking spaces are limited.

Great short break in Scarborough. Apartment was as described, but felt a little tired - toilet roll holder had been ripped out the wall twice and not repaired/replaced prior to arrival, kitchen sink tap was loose. Didn't affect our stay and would recommend, but could do with being fixed. One thing that needs addressing is the bad drain smell from the shower as it's noticeable as soon as you walk in.

I’d stayed in a lovely Host and Stay apartment before, so Skipper’s Rest was a real disappointment. The place has been renovated to a good standard but has not been looked after at all and feels scruffy. As highlighted by a previous review, there’s a few things that need sorting- broken kitchen bin, broken towel rail, and also a terrible smell from the shower. It was really frustrating that these things had been mentioned in a previous review, received a response of “we’ll sort it” from the host, and yet nothing had been done. Cleaning was also pretty poor- place needs a good dust, and all but one of the cups provided was dirty, most looked like they hadn’t been washed. I flagged all the above issues early in the stay, responses were quick but nothing was really done to resolve any of the issues. The flat is in a good location but if you’re thinking of staying, seek assurances that they’ve at least dealt with the smell from the shower, as it really was bad!

Ideal for a short stay in Scarborough. Really good location. Very modern apartment. Clean and tidy. Was told we would have access to free parking during our stay and that the details would be available upon check in but these were not available, we therefore had to pay to park a short walk away from the apartment. Host was responsive and replied to my messages in a timely manner but was unable to resolve the issue.

Great place to stay - Single building 5 apartments, occasional foot traffic but nothing concerning. Apartment is very clean, felt very comfortable during the stay. Only problem i had with it was the 4pm check in time with zero flexibility.

Within easy walking distance of the beach and promenade, Peasholm Park and the Open Air Theatre (lots more too long to list!) .... just a really good location. I'd recommend people stay there. First impressions of apartment could’ve been better. Lock box was a bit tricky to open. Heating was off so it was really cold and unwelcoming upon arriving at 6pm and the shower stank of drains. The kitchen bin lid and toilet roll holder were broken. Be mindful of costs not made clear - insurance for damages extra £10 plus £250 refundable deposit or extra £25 which covers £500 of damage without refundable deposit. Parking arrangements not made clear in listing. They DO provide ONE parking permit so you don’t need to park a 9 min walk away! We had 2 cars and upon arrival were told we’d need to pay £10 for an extra permit and they couldn’t drop it off until the next day. I contacted them at 7am the day of check in and was told that permits weren’t provided! If we had been given the correct information then another permit could’ve been waiting for us avoiding any hassles with parking! Flat is well decorated and cosy once warmed up. It is within easy walking distance of amenities.

Flat was just fantastic and was very tidy when we arrived. The beach is just a short walk away and there are some stunning views to behold of the North Bay and the South Bay was just a 10-15 minute walk away. Conveniently, there’s also a supermarket just down the road and we were thrilled with the place overall. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Apartment is 10/10. The convenience of location to the park and the beach is perfect. Everything we needed was provided. Towels, soap, shampoo, MILK! and the rest. Beautifully decorated. The photos look lovely but when you see it first hand, it’s just so nicely done - I’d literally live there. Very nice welcome book which has so much information such as local amenities, emergency numbers inc doctors, dentists and vets (cute). This was my first time in Scarborough and this booking was such a huge addition to our time here. Thank you for having us. Paul

Fabulous apartment, gorgeous decor and attention to detail. The apartment has everything you need for a great stay. (Note-There is no free parking outside the property so it was a fun adventure unloading our luggage on double yellow lines! Car parking 5 minutes walk away charged at £9 for 24 hours.)

Only drawback and this is been uber picky was the lack of parking, get yourself a parking disc available in some shops which will make your life a little easier. Would definitely stay again, great view if you happen to catch a cricket match. You won't need tea or coffee and there was a pint of milk to use, a welcome brew after our journey.
