Cosy cottage with a short walk to the harbour. Very clean house and smelt really nice.
My only suggestion would be some anti slip grips on the living room rug but wasn’t a big issue.
We will be staying here again.

Great little house, perfect location, nice and quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Whitby town, loved the fact you had a secure garden for our dog. Thanks for letting us stay we'll certainly be back sometime in the future!

L9cation was good 10 mins to the town. The cottage was lovely and there was free on street parking.
The cottage was clean and amelt lovely. Free WiFi. The little extra lime tea and coffee and toiletries was a lovely touch.
Sofas were not very comfy however the room doesn't allow big sofas but more comfortable ones would be great.

The location of the Airbnb is brilliant to explore Whitby and the surrounding areas. We had no problem finding free parking on the road, and it was an easy walk to the sights in Whitby. The enclosed garden was brilliant for our dog Chipper. The main bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely. Plenty of hot water! We would recommend a stay here to others, but do have a couple of points of constructive feedback: Although the listing said kitchen basics would be provided, we couldn’t find any oven gloves or cooking oil, which would have been helpful. The heating system was also quite noisy, which stopped us having a perfect night sleep.

The cottage was lovely and in a great location, a short walk from the harbour area. Well maintained bright cottage with nice decor, also with a small enclosed front garden which was very handy for our dog. We managed to park on the street outside for the duration of our stay. All very comfortable. Very accessible to Whitby beach and attractions. Also a short drive along the coast is Robinhood Bay which was a pretty village (steep walk down to the beach) - we really enjoyed a 10 mile circular walk along the cliff tops to Ravenscar and back along the Cinder Trail - fab walk, the first half is fairly strenuous with a lot of up and down steps, but worth it for the amazing views.
The single room bed was comfortable but noisy!-could do with being upgraded. Front garden could do with a little more TLC.

Whitby is fabulous!
Our stay at hope cottage was very relaxing in a peaceful street. It was great that we could stay with our two little dogs. The garden at the front of the house was secure and handy.
The house was lovely and warm.
My husband enjoyed the large hot shower.
We had everything we needed.
We ate out so didn’t use the cooker or dishwasher but all the cooking equipment was available.
The decor was cute and we were comfortable and cosy.
The cottage was nice and clean , the double bed was comfortable with nice fresh bedding.
We really enjoyed our little get away and would recommend the cottage to couples with dogs. ❤️❤️❤️

We have just returned from a weekend break, on arrival the cottage was lovely and clean & welcoming (although my only gripe was the heating is a hive heating system and it would have been nice to walk into some warmth - it was freezing and took the full day to warm up- but that’s me being really picky!) the walk to shops and restaurants was as described a 10 minute walk away, overall we had a lovely peaceful stay, parking wasn’t a problem we parked outside on the road all weekend. The king size bed was so comfortable (my hubby tried having a look at the make to buy one!) the bathroom was lovely and the shower was 10/10.

A cosy, well equipped cottage a short, down hill walk from the centre of Whitby (short steep hill on the way back!) Pleased to have a clear link to find the property as it is slightly tucked away. The agency was responsive in dealing with any queries. Easy on street parking.

We had a lovely and comfortable two nights stay at this property. It was very well decorated, modern and clean and had everything we needed. We really appreciated the enclosed garden for our dog to safely run about in and the property is in walking distance to the harbour where there are shops, restaurants and attractions. I would definitely book again and would recommend a stay here.

Great location to Whitby in quiet area although address is hard to find. House was really clean and perfect for what we needed. The single bed is very creaky and would benefit for a couple of extras such as more toilet roll, kitchen roll etc, no hand soap in bathroom… otherwise great stay and would stay again.

We had a lovely six night stay at Hope Cottage which is an easy walk to Whitby Harbour. It was a welcome surprise to find how quiet it was in the street given it is peak holiday season and we had no trouble parking! A nifty fold out table in the living room and two sofas is all you need and the beds are very comfortable while the bathroom is great with a walk in shower. A pocket garden at the front is also nice to have and overall, we had a really enjoyable stay.

The property was lovely and clean. It was well equipped and had a really good shower. The double bedroom was very comfortable.
The front lawn was messy and there were cigarette butts on the concrete by the window. The bed in the single room was incredibly squeaky, my daughter had to sleep on the pull out bed which meant she had no floor space. Also there was no facility for recycling.

Location and free parking. Nice bathroom.
Overall cleanliness. General maintenance and upkeep of the house was lacking. Grass needed cutting and path wants weeding, cigarettes from previous tenants were all over the floor outside. Lots of dead flies on the floor, furniture hadn’t been cleaned behind in a long time, strong smell of damp in the kitchen and the upstairs had not been hoovered, I actually had to do it myself.
Needs blackout blinds in bedroom.

We had a comfortable stay at Hope Cottage and everything was pretty much as described without any wow factor, it was just OK. The bed mattress was very firm and while the bed was a king size as in the description, the duvet was a standard double which just seems such an obvious and easy thing to rectify, it just seems a lack of care and attention to detail. We stayed in the coldest June week for five years and although the heating kept us warm down stairs, upstairs always seemed cold. The most disappointing aspect was the scruffy state of the garden which did not give a good first impression when we arrived. The grass looked like it has been cut with a strimmer or a blunt pair of shears and the front hedge was very over grown to the extent it was starting to obstruct the gate which is the only access to the property. We did report this to Host and Stay who seem to offer a rather impersonal distant service with bog standard generic messages.

It's a great little place, perfectly placed. It's walking distance into town, with none of the noise. It would have been top marks if it was not for the extra charges. I would not mind if they were all there, as you pay for the place initially, but they are not. One of the additional costs came up to the same price we paid for the stay.

We had a wonderful stay here! Brilliant property for a small family looking for a cosy place to stay all within walking distance of Whitby centre.
We had a slight issue with the postcode not taking us directly to the property but soon found it once we had a quick look on maps.
All in all I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be able to walk into the centre (5 min walk) but far enough out so it’s peaceful as well.

Loved our stay in Hope Cottage for 3 nights. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could need. Modern bathroom with lovely shower. Nice size bedrooms with comfortable beds. There is an enclosed garden at the front of the property so we were safe in the knowledge our cocker spaniel couldn’t get out.
Perfectly located for walking into Whitby just a 10 min walk. As you walk into Whitby there is a big Co-op for any shopping and also the main bus and train station.
We were very lucky with the parking and managed to park outside the cottage for the time we stayed there.
A very enjoyable stay and we would definitely return 😊

Cute little cottage close to the centre of Whitby. Very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished.
The bed was quite creaky and the curtains in the bedroom were not blockout and let a lot of light in which woke us very early and made it difficult to sleep in the morning.

Rachael

We had a nice stay in this cottage located near the centre of Whitby. I’d say the house is a perfect size for a couple + pet. Although there’s a second bedroom it’s quite small and would be a bit cramped with a third adult. The bathroom especially was lovely.
Everything is walking distance, the parking is on street but there’s plenty available nearby and we had no issues parking in front of the house each night. We used the house as a base to travel to surrounding areas like Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.
There’s a Co-Op 5 minutes away for food supplies and lots of restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend Magpie Cafe for fish and chips, and Humble Pie n’ Mash for some comfort food.
Only negatives I can say about the cottage is the curtains weren’t black out and the sunlight woke us up early each morning. Some of the dishes and mugs were also dirty and I had to re-wash them before use.
We’ll definitely be back to Whitby in future and would love to stay here again.

Whilst Hope Cottage is beautifully decorated and very clean I was disappointed by the size of the downstairs living area. Just big enough for 2x 2 seater sofas in front room and with anything more than 2 adults I would describe space as challenging.
My biggest gripe is with the fact that cottage is hosted by an agency - and I really felt the difference with this in comparison to a real Air B&B.
When I contacted 'Host & Stay' about issues with the property (for example, no signal on TV) it was clear that the agents that I spoke to (different people each time) had no personal knowledge of the house at all. I was asked by one agent to make a film of the TV and email over so they could suggest trouble shooting ideas. When I rang again there was no record on the system (apparently) of this conversation. Oven was impossible - I couldnt call again. No info about rubbish or recycling - would have been helpful. I simply would not choose to rent with Host & Stay again for all of the above!

Great stay here with my partner and dog which we booked mainly for close proximity to beach & town (probably a 15 minute walk from the house through the town). Walk to town is about 10 minutes which is very handy as we didn’t have to move the car at all during our stay. Managed to get a spot outside the house which we were lucky to get having read other reviews.
All amenities in the house as listed and very clean/tidy. Good recommendations from host company also.
Only slight hiccup was having to wait until 16:30 for the lock box code to get in after arriving at 15:55. Assumed code would be sent straight through at check-in time, but had to chase.
Other than that, would recommend and stay again 👍

Lovely Cottage in whitby in a terraced but very quiet street. Only 10 mins walk into the centre. Comfy, warm with everything that you need. Street parking but was able to park close each night. Easy check in with key code and easy access, excellent communications from host, recommended.

cottage was nice, very hard to find after a long snowy drive there, i think that clouded our view. I think the advert is misleading as it indicates that its central Whitby when its a good 10 minute walk from the centre. this could be OK but I'd booked it due to the central location as I was travelling with an older person whose mobility is poor. I think if the advert clearly stated (before you booked) that its a good 10 minutes walk from the centre this would have been better.

Quaint little cottage. Great walkable location within easy access of all Whitby's attractions (of which there are many) including the train station, beach and Abbey. Access simple, cottage clean, bed very comfortable and shower fab!. Handy contained grassed/hedged little front garden which was perfect for our two small dogs and lovely to watch the birds of a morning. Lots of local businesses very dog friendly. Parking is on street which is limited but we found a spot with no issue and didn't use the car again until we left for home.
Only negatives were the lack of washing machine (we walked a lot in the lovely countryside and would have appreciated being able to clean our muddy clothes) and the lack of recycling facilities (none! Hated putting cans and bottles in the rubbish)

What a great little property! For using as a base it had everything you could possibly want. We stayed with our dogs and the huge benefit was the enclosed garden, absolutely perfect. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the bed was super comfy slept like a dream every night. We managed to get our car close ish on arrival but do be prepared for a bit of a walk as space is really short. 5 minute stroll downhill to the old town, a bit of a steep uphill coming back but think of that exercise. Would definitely stay here again, thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

Lovely cottage just a short walk from the town, was perfect for us and had everything we needed. Gorgeous bathroom, fab shower and comfy beds. Host&Stay we’re really helpful and always responded quickly. All the restaurant recommendations were fabulous we really appreciated the info as we hadn’t stayed in Whitby before. We had a great time! It took us a little while to find the place but that was only because we hadn’t read the instructions well enough to see that the house is on a different street to the actual address and using the postcode sat nav takes you down the wrong road!

Everything at Hope Cottage was perfect. We had a fabulous stay and would reccommend it to friends and family. It was a home from home and everything had been thought about. Great location too! The only thing that we hadn't anticipated was the slightly tricky parking out on the road. It's narrow and windy but we tucked oursleves into a space nearby so it was fine. Lovely cosy clean cottage with all facilities and comfy beds, Wi-Fi, enclosed garden for dogs (essential) walking distance to Whitby centre, easy access and exit arrangements. On street parking can be difficult as is limited and tight to manoeuvre into as very narrow streets. Only downside to mention is £250 damage deposit required 14 days before stay commences and not released till up to 10 days after stay. A short stay doubles the price initially and is a lucrative way to earn interest for companies.
Not had to pay this with most Airbnb’s stayed in.
