Spotlessly clean and well appointed, the apartment had everything required for a 3 day break. The beds are big and comfortable and unusually, the couches are too.. Its just a short shortish walk to the estuary and you can pass a couple of good pubs & bars on the way if you choose.. Parking was convenient being available right outside as it wasn't busy.

It was clean and very comfortable and has a great view of the Crescent gardens and sea beyond.

The bed side lamp shades in the smaller bedroom were too dark so you couldn’t read a book in bed.

Beds were amazing, lovely location, comfortable seating in the lounge area.

There was a very unpleasant drainy type smell which was really quite offensive, I have noted that this was mentioned in previous reviews and had hoped this would have been rectified. It’s also the first time we have stayed in an apartment where there aren’t even any basic provisions such as kitchen roll and washing up liquid. A parking disc is provided but it’s worth noting that there isn’t an allocated parking space, it’s more pot luck if you manage to get a space.

Lovely apartment in excellent location. However there was awful smell (drains/sewer?) coming from the en-suite bathroom, which you could smell as soon as you entered the apartment. Looking back at the reviews this has been ongoing for several years. Would return to Whitby but not this place unless the pong is removed/resolved.

The location was perfect, views of the sea and a short walk to the centre of Whitby. Couldn’t be in a better place, loved it so much. Easy to park, very comfortable, just perfection, will definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay, and it is certainly a very attractive five star flat in terms of decor, facilities, views, location, nearby parking (often problematic in Whitby) etc - but it was let down by a rather unpleasant drain smell in the bedroom with the en suite, which we couldn’t get rid of. Everything there looked spotless but didn’t smell good. Also slight anxiety due to the check in process, because we were told full details of accessing the flat would be sent 6 hours prior to check in. I checked my email regularly as we were driving there, becoming increasingly concerned as no info arrived. We had told them we’d arrive at 16:00, so at 15:22 I emailed and explained we hadn’t received any info about accessing the flat - receiving an instant reply, with access details, at 15:24! So all was fine in the end.

The Area and how Spacious Bright and Airy it was.

Getting parked initially was a pain but managed to get outside propert 2nd day of being there. Also if you go as a Family in 2 cars you should be able to have 2 parking permits. Maybe something for Host and Stay to look into. We were prepared to pay for the extra permit but wasn't given the option.

We enjoyed a two night stay with friends. the apartment was superb, modern, very clean with a fantastic view of the sea. The place was large enough to host two couples, without feeling cramped. The two large bathrooms were a real bonus, to allow extra privacy. We can't wait to come back.

We stayed as 2 couples at The Connell (apartment 5) in mid-February 2025.

Although when we enquired after 2 car parking spaces at the property to be told we were only to get one, it was a pleasant surprise to find 2 permits allowing us to park directly outside for free for the duration of the weekend, bonus!

The location is excellent with the sea 50m away, the main town 5 mins walk away, and a great beach front walk heading north to Sandsend (50 mins walk away with a lovely café, Mary’s) and Runswick Bay (3 hours walk away, and then get the bus back to Whitby)!

The studio apartment is accessed on the 1st floor via stairs or a lift. No 5 has a lovely sea front aspect from the lounge.

It has 2 spacious double bedrooms with huge comfy beds, wardrobe space and dressing tables. One bedroom was ensuite, the other used the family bathroom (which had a bath and shower). Both nicely presented and toasty warm, as was the apartment.

The kitchen was equipped with everything needed to cook a full English, and there were plenty of glasses, cutlery and plates.

The lounge had a large flat screen TV and sat 4 of us comfortably and there was also a large dining table (for 6) in the lounge with a view to the sea.

The apartment is in a quiet location, very clean, well-presented and really well worth the money.

Would we return to this property if visiting the area again, absolutely!

The apartment had a very new feel to it and was of a high standard. It was warm, comfortable and very quiet. The security arrangements were very good and we would very happily book the same apartment when we return to Whitby.

Fantastic place. We stayed in low season.
Parking was immediately available outside the apartment with the scratch card permit provided.
Spotlessly clean and well equipped property, the beds were comfy.
Sea views from the breakfast kitchen and lovely clean windows everywhere that opened. The heating worked well - snowing during our stay.
Easy walk down to the harbour and beach, and not far from the abbey. Cafes, pubs/microbrewery and bakery all close by.
Although managed by an agency the communication was excellent.
Would definitely book again.

Good location, well equipped flat

The bad drain smell in the ensuite shower room has not been sorted despite all the bad reviews mentioning it. It pervaded the whole flat. I was told that the property maintenance team would investigate it but that never materialised . Obvious that nobody from the letting agency has ever stayed in the flat as there are small but irritating niggles - no litter bins in the bedrooms, no toilet roll holders, only 1 key provided for 4 people etc . The terrible smell is unacceptable in a quality letting.. It's a shame because it could be excellent

This is an excellent flat and we have stopped here several times, however on this occasion we had to chase a parking permit and the on suite bathroom needs a deep clean.
The other areas of the flat were very clean.
This would not stop us visiting this flat again and we are looking forward to our next visit.

It was a shame small attentions to detail weren’t included such as tea towel and shower gel. There were lots of items available to use that we didn’t require but we assumed these items would be there so we didn’t bring these. Only small in the grand scheme of things but would have been handy to know to bring these for future guests.

Great location and quiet.

No hot water on 1st day, had to reset boiler. Would be nice to have some outdoor seating in the front of the property. No parking in the permit area on arrival, had to pay. Got up early the next day to move car. Name of the house Carlill, would have been usefull in the info pack, so we knew which house we were looking for. The name the Connell makes it confusing

Great location in Whitby, lovely views from the property particularly on sunny evenings.
We had a slight hiccup with the parking pass, but this was quickly rectified by Host & Stay customer service.
The apartment was great. The finish inside was to a high standard and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely return.

Lovely flat in a really great location. However, had some issues…
One toilet roll left in the property between two bathrooms and four people, the boiler hadn’t been switched on so we discovered we had no hot water and had to root around the utility cupboard to get it going (not great) and the en suite bathroom smelt musty and awful throughout the stay because of what seemed like a drainage issue.
So overall, I’d happily stay in the apartment again, but a little bit more preparation is clearly needed before guests arrive.

We tried putting bleach down the drains and toilet to no avail, it's not a sewage smell , my husband seems to think there's a dead bird caught in the extractor, it was horrible every time we opened the bathroom doors, the cleaner must smell it, why wasn't it reported.you can not miss the smell as soon as we walked into the flat , my sister in law would gag.

We loved the location and the view on the whole, bit spoiled by number of cars but, cant be helped? Quiet, clean, comfortable. Only drawbacks would have preferred more clean towels as they were wet after couple uses and some milk in fridge would have been nice, but overall excellent. So cosy and comfortable and easy access, brilliant parking!! AND those beds we all thought were super super comfortable, where are the matresses from. The rear view (bedrooms) left something to be desired but heh - the front made up for it. Excellent thank you we would definitely come back. We saw a whole new side of Whitby staying up there.

As above milk on arrival, more towels - few more mugs/cups/glasses, cutlery maybe and couple more tea towels.

No meals were included. The location was excellent with good sea views although the surrounding area felt a bit mixed. The apartment had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Furnishings and fittings on the whole were of a good standard and quality

There was nothing to dislike but the mattress protector was missing on the bed in the second bedroom and there was a shortage of tumblers although plenty of other glasses. We found the 13.5 tog quilts far too warm even though it was a cold weekend. Some spare lighter weight quilts of 4.5 tog or even 9 tog would have made our stay perfect and resulted in a score of 10…!

Great location for the town and beach. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment. The beds were super comfy, and everything was provided for a great stay.

The communication between Booking.com and Host and Stay was not very efficient. We didn't receive several vital notifications about arrival, and about a problem that arose whilst staying there.
Instructions re the property eg how things worked, where to put recycling and rubbish, were very scant.

Me and my family came to stay for a long weekend and had a wonderful time at this apartment. It was warm, cosy and clean and matches the photos you see. The location is beautiful with a very nice and easy walk into the centre of Whitby. The hosts were very responsive and helped us secure parking permits (which are only available November-March) which we were very grateful for. I would 100% recommend and would stay again!

Fabulous stay at The Connell.
High spec beautiful apartment with stunning sea front views. Location great, a few minutes from the Whale Bones feature.
.Easy to find the premises, there are parking permits inside the property which meant we could park right outside which was great.
Really comfy beds, lovely bedding & towels. Had a fab nights sleep, the temperature was perfect in the bedroom.
Had everything we needed in the apartment for our stay.
The host Charlie was extremely helpful with excellent communication.
All round, a top class place to stay & we definitely want to book again in the near future.
Thank you for a hassle free, luxury break. Wonderful!!

The bluetooth mirror in the bathrooms were a great touch! Gorgeous apartment in a great location! The apartment was so clean!

Check in time was a little late, we arrived around 2pm and went straight into Whitby as we couldn't check in, however as there was no reception it meant we didn't have to rush back to check in we just used the lock box.

The only issue for me was. No welcome pack. Left one dishwasher tab for 4 days and not even a tea towel . Really poor for a luxury place like this. Having said that I would happily go again. Such a nice location.

I brought a young lady with mental health issues as a working holiday. She loved everything about it.

I wasn't happy that the parking scratch card only covered 4 day's I was almost given a parking fine...an elderly gentleman neighbour put a card on my car which surficed my not being given a fine. Our stay was for 5 nights the scratch card should have accommodated for that.

Really lovely, wonderfully large apartments near the beach at the heart of Whitby. There was a lift to all floors, beds were wonderful, shower was powerful, blue tooth mirrors were a treat, kitchen was really pleasant and well stocked, including a coffee maker, and lounge facilities all which were spotless and very comfortable.

No complaints apart from the musky smell in the en-suite bathroom. The fan switches were placed too far up for shorter people to use so fans probably weren’t being used adequately to eliminate moisture.

Modern facilities even down to the Nespresso machine. very clean, comfortable beds. Excellent location and sea view. Lift was handy for luggage.

Dreadful smell of drains from en-suite bathroom. We had to leave the bathroom light on 24/7 to activate the extractor fan. Even that did not totally eliminate bad smell. Flat opposite also had the same problem.
The other bathroom was fine but the bath water on there was not hot enough.

Host & Stay were awful to deal with - extra information & payments needed after booking (which i'd never had before with Booking.com).
En suite bathroom smelt awful.
the duvet cover on one bed had a huge rip in it - on the insider, so not noticeable until we went to bed (although was promptly replaced the next next).

The apartment was as stated in on the website. It was very clean and the location was excellent. Host and Stay were excellent. Whenever we had a query or an issue it was dealt with quickly and effectively, for example we asked for the bed in bedroom 2 to be split but upon arrival it wasn't. I emailed Host and Stay on the day of arrival and they came on the morning of the following day to rectify the issue. I would not hesitate in using Host and Stay again.

Although the little issues did not spoil our stay I think they still need to be pointed out. In a recent review I noted that a spotlight in the on-suite bathroom was not working, it was still out during our stay. Spare bedding (duvets) were stored in the wardrobe which reduced our storage space. The last issue, which has been raised many times previously, is the smell in the on-suite bathroom. As we had read about this in previous reviews we were prepared, so used a scented candle during our stay which helped massively. I think this problem maybe something which is out of the control of Host and Stay but I think it should be mentioned when booking.

The place was spacious for 4 adults. Clean and tidy. The building has a lift which is a treat after all that walking. Close enough to the town and great views of the sea. Parking was a plus too. I did have to raise a couple of points to the host but they communicated back quickly and got it sorted.

The fact that there is a lift.
Parking is easy and so convenient.
The location is spectacular.
Contemporary, spotless furniture and decor.
A modern, effective heating system

A drier would be a good idea. So would a clothes rack.
There is a washer but nowhere to dry your clothes and nowhere to hang clothes that you need to dry naturally.
The fact that there is a desperate need for accommodation of this standard available in Whitby.

Info in the blue folder about some aspects of the flat would have been helpful eg bins, recycling and how to access increased hot water requirement. However, we had a wonderful stay and were very impressed with our accommodation.

The heating was on timers and set temperature so some of the day the apartment was cold.
Also the en suite drains were smelling awful we could not use it. We informed the company running the apartment on the first day and no one can to sort it.
Also far to many emails with repeated info and ordering us to leave on time or we would extra charges. Also not being able to go into the apartment until 16.00 and having to leave by 10.00 we lost a day off our stay. Most other places we stay at its in from 14.00 and leave by 12.00.

Great location with a sea view and easy access to the town and coastal walks. The apartment was modern, clean and comfortable.

We were disappointed with a lack of basic essentials including a shortage of toilet rolls and bin bags, no dishwasher tablets and no cafeteria to make coffee. During our stay an unpleasant drain smell also emerged from the en suite shower.

We actually managed to get into the apartment a bit earlier, so that was helpful, keys were in key box. Apartment was very nice, newly furnished, luxurious with comfy huge beds, all very quiet and relaxing, sea view amazing. Short walk to sea front or down to the harbour. Would definitely stay here again.

We were given a 2 days scratch card for parking but we stayed for 3 days, it would have been nice not to have to move the car somewhere else for the last 3rd night.

A few more glasses would be helpful, we had to keep washing them and reuse.

Fabulous place great location soured a bit with the 😳😳£60 cleaning fee in a 2 bed flat for a few nights.
The £25 insurance fee for a waiver imposed by Host & Stay after booking or you ain't getting check in details
The non attendance of a maintenance man to sort out the stuck bath plug or the dead remote battery's.
The freezing atmosphere with all heaters turned off on the 16.00 (half day gone) earliest check in

What an amazing place! Perfect location. Clean, homely feel. Had everything we needed for our stay. Access for the key at check in was really easy and simple. The whole apartment has been finished to a high standard. The sea view was a spectacular bonus. Would definitely recommend.

Really nice accommodation with beautiful views and modern amenities. Just a shame some of our towels were dirty and no hand wash in the bathrooms. Apart from that I would deffo recommend.

Lovely apartment in a great location. The apartment was spotlessly clean and really comfortable, the Christmas tree and subtle decorations were a nice festive touch. It’s location was perfect for exploring everything Whitby had to offer and the parking scratch card was an added bonus, meaning we could park directly outside. Would definitely choose to stay again if visiting Whitby.

Lovely flat with views of the sea on the crescent on the West Cliff. Nice and quiet with big rooms. Comfy beds and well stocked kitchen area. Great access to main area of Whitby. Perfect for a weekend getaway!

High Spec apartment that was spacious and very clean. Showers powerful and hot. Beds very comfortable. The apart is front line on the crescent with lovely sea views and great for people watching. In a lovely quiet part of whitby.
Couple of tiny issues fire alarm was activated and we evacuated building not sure of procedure for this.

The location was perfect with fantastic views. Spotless apartment with quality fittings. Super comfy beds. Great shower with Bluetooth speaker mirrors! Great communication from hosts and very easy to access keys. Car park only a few yards away at £9 for 24hrs.

The Wifi was slow but only really affected our young son with his tablet.

The Venetian blind was damaged in the bedroom when we arrived , so I reported it as it requests you to report anything that isn’t right

Excellent location. Very stylish and comfortable and the lift was a big bonus. Fantastic view and so nice that you can step out on the balcony. Highly recommended.

The fact that there is not an allocated parking and that we had to pay for long stay parking. Even though there was a parking disc to use for two days of our stay, there was never any parking available and we had to use the long stay parking. It did help that this parking lot is quite close to the apartment.

The apartment is in a great position looking out to sea and is within walking distance of the beach, and other attractions.
It is very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay with our 2 grandchildren.

Fabulous location, beautiful flat. Clean and comfortable. Hosts responded to emails promptly. Well equipped, didn't skint on the basics like toilet rolls. Even left milk in fridge. All excellent.

The admin prior to arriving was a bit faffy (having to do photo verification etc with Host & Stay). We got wrong information about car parking - told there was no scratch card available, so we paid £9 for 24 hours parking at public car park. When we got inside, found scratch cards waiting. Good to have them, but would have been nice to know before coming!

A few tiny things in the flat - sash window quite hard to close, shelf missing in fridge. Nothing significant - it's a lovely place!

Die Lage mit direktem Blick auf das Meer (Nordsee) war toll. Das Apartment war direkt im Zentrum von Whitby, sodass man alles fussläufig sehr gut erreichen konnte. Das Apartment war modern und ansprechend eingerichtet, und die Betten super bequem. Das Apartment war sehr geräumig, mit 2 Schlafzimmer und 2 modernen und sauberen Bädern. Die Schlafzimmer sind ruhig zur Gasse hin gelegen. Die moderne und nagelneu eingerichtete Wohnung war sehr komfortabel.

Der Duschabfluss im Bad verströmte einen unangenehmen Geruch, das kann man aber sicher reparieren. Parken war nur mit einem Parkschein möglich. Dieser wird vom Gastgeber gestellt. Leider war unserer aber nur für 2 Tage (inklusive 2 Übernachtungen) gültig, wir hatten aber das Apartment für 4 Tage (3 Übernachtungen) gebucht. So mussten wir am vorletzten Tag noch einen alternativen Parkplatz in der Nähe suchen, der uns dann leider auch noch extra gekostet hat (10 Pfund).

A fantastic view from the property and could not fault the decor. Every thing was excellent and in working order. The bed was comfortable and I would highly recommend this property to stay as it is close to the beach and town.

Superb apartment. Very spacious, brand new and modern in a superb location.
The views over the sea are an added bonus. We traveled with another couple and found there was plenty of room - and we had our own bathrooms.
We love Whitby and visit regularly. Best accomodation we've stayed in.

There was no ironing board, adding one would be very helpful for guests

10am check out we found quite early. 11am would be better.

Brilliant location overlooking the sea. Modern decor, tastefully furnished. Huge beds. Great view from lounge. Parking nearby. Less than 15 minute walk into town.
