3 flights of steep stairs! Hot water took forever to come through. Shower head bracket was broken which made bathing difficult. My grandchildren complained that the flat had a strange smell. Bore no resemblance to the photos on line !!!

A compact appartment highly suitable for a couple. Facilities good, but fridge lacked a freezer area. Initial approach via the back street doesn't look great however location great for the south bay. All in all an enjoyable stay and would stay again.

Bed and pillows were a bit soft for our taste.

-first of all when you walk into the accommodation it stinks of musty oldness, when you get into the apartment the smell is horrific old musty like something has died in there. The smell was so bad we had to go get candle burners to mask the smell. And keep on at all times we were there, that's the only way you could put up with it. It does not go away.
You can only open the bedroom windows slightly in the bedroom next to kitchen. The lounge window does not open so can't let any air in and the bathroom window which has bird poo alover
when you open the bathroom window it smells so bad of bird poo which is dangerous to inhail and you look onto a courtyard dwelling which is totally covered in pigeon/seagull poo wanted to vomit when opened the window which also had poo allover the outside of it had to close window and keep close as dangerous to inhail.
Top floor bedroom window has bird poo on it and then when open birds could poo inside property. No ventilation in property apart from window mentioned that was safe to open in bedroom.

-secondly, property was dirty floors dirty rugs filthy stained, sideboards, shelfs not been wiped over the dust was terrible, cooker top filthy, toilet brush left on floor not in brush holder, windows not been cleaned , nothing wiped over properly. The pictures of the property do not show the actual property in its actual rundown old poor state.
The only thing that was clean was the bedding.
I spent 2 hrs cleaning before I could even try to come to terms with staying in this top floor flat which it actually is. Everything is old rundown and needs updating.

-thirdly heating did not work no matter how many times we tried, contacted property, and they just quoted exactly what was in manual. Contacted them again didn't get back to us until second night at 10.50 pm when we were in bed asking if the heating was working.
We froze for 2 nights in property with no heating. Nobody coming to sort issue.

The pros: centrally located, with great wifi , easy check-in and responsive hosts.
The cons: lots of cobwebs, no sponges or other cleaning supplies to take care during longer stays.
I stayed 3 weeks which this apartment is not equipped for. Would be great for a shorter stay!

It’s a cozy place to stay with both pros and cons. The location is amazing, super close to the train station and centre of town, and the bed is very comfortable and has lots of pillows.
However, the wifi is not very good (it’s usable but slow), there is no freezer or washing machine, the kitchen sink drains very slowly, and the whole place could use a good deep clean. There’s dirt and dust in places and the shower curtain needs replacing. Overall I did enjoy my stay but these are things to keep in mind if you plan to stay here.

Location good for town centre. Railway station nearby for cheap parking. Apartment was well equipped with 2 double beds.

On arrival chips (as in the food type) and found on nest of tables in the living area. Underside of dishes/plates dirty. Few stains on bed cushions. Holes in bed linen. If contractors are being used then maybe a quiet word is needed.

Aldi across the rd and witherspoon round the corner.

No parking so we had to pay an extra £10 a day to leave the car elsewhere and walk to the accommodation.
No reply to emails during our stay.
Dirty communal area and bathroom very grubby. White shower curtain has turned orange.
No essential items such as washing up liquid, cling film etc. One towel for the duration of stay. 3 flights of steep stairs to climb, so beware if disabled.

Das Apartment war angenehm groß und ruhig gelegen.

Das Bett war sehr weich und für uns unbequem und die restliche Einrichtung war auch leider nicht sonderlich gemütlich. Die Eingangstür zum Gebäude war fast konstant offen da sie nicht automatisch schließt. Das ist vor allem unangenehm da die Wohnung in einer relativ dunklen Seitenstraße liegt.

La casa in sé è bella accogliente. La scala di accesso meriterebbe un pò di areazione. La strada su cui si trova la casa è decisamente decadente e sembra abbandonata. Posizione comoda al centro. Non sono riuscita a trovare lavatrice e asciugatrice sebbene mi sia stata confermata la presenza.

Wasn't exceptionally clean. The kitchen and bathroom were dirty and the floors hadn't been hoovered. Had to clean the bath before use as it was filthy and had hair in it. Quite a lot of sitting dust on skirtings.
Could do with being deep cleaned.

All good, it's a very nice flat, with everything you need for a holiday stay.

Stairs to the flat and up into the second bedroom are really steep and narrow. We were ok, but it's not suitable for people with mobility issues.

The property wasn’t cleaned properly. The toilet rim was dirty, the carpet wasn’t cleaned and hoovered. We kept finding garbage under the sofa, on the carpet and other places around. There’s black mould around the bathtub. Dining table is far away from the kitchen (it’s near the bathroom) and have to cross the entire living room. The blinds were broken in one of the bedrooms. Top 3rd floor, narrow staircase and almost none existing landing area. It’s the same managing company that let Old Cottage in Whitby, which we loved. So we were quite shocked to find this apartment in Scarborough in such a poor condition.

We would have liked more hand towels. The kitchen only had the very basics. The cups and some of the cutlery were dirty and the toaster did not work. On the plus side the bed was lovely but we were surprised there wasn’t a mattress protector on it, it was already getting stained and I would have thought that would have been a priority on such a good bed.

The location was soo handy,right near the train station and town and an Aldi just 5 minutes walk,I loved the lay out of the property and how their was an attic room with a sky light, I loved where the bathroom was and how it was downstairs,the sofabed was great too. How it had everything I needed and the decorations etc.

The water was too hot!! And out the back it looks dirty and smelt but I didn’t look out or smell it so didn’t cause any problem and very minor detail,

Das Apartment war sehr schmuddelig, in der Straße fühlen wir uns nicht wohl. Es war sehr dunkel - durch den Sichtschutz in den Fenstern konnte man kaum nach draußen sehen (wir konnten nicht erkennen, ob es regnet oder nicht!) - der Lamellenvorhang schmutzig (lieber nicht bewegen!). Tassen klebten, Besteck war dreckig.

das Apartment liegt in einer etwas dunklen Gasse, wo man sich als alleinreisende Frauen nicht unbedingt sicher fühlt

Liked the fact had 2 bedrooms and it was in central location. It was clean and had everything for a self catering break.

The stairs to it were a bit steep. There was no where in the bathroom to hang your towels to dry or while you were having a shower. There was no where close to park the car. Although the bed in the main room was large it was made up of two mattresses so there was a lump in the middle

Recived an email the day before leaving advising us that checkout was 12pm so we booked a boat trip for in the morning. Got a text less than an hour before 10am advising checkput was 10am, i messaged explaining we had been told 12 and was told we had to check out at 10 anyway. The message then said checkout was 10 am tomorrow not the same day and just got an inconsiderate reply in my opinion

I thought the location was excellent, across the street from the train station, and Aldi at the ended of the road, 10 minutes walk from the beach,
I felt safe and happy here,
The apartment was spacious and clean, with a king sized bed, comfortable,
It was quite at night, there were plenty of cooking facilities,

There is not much i dint like apart from no washing machine or tumble dryer,
And I would have found it good to have a working clock,
Hot water is boiling, could be a risk, but they are small grips, all in it was fantastic

Alles nicht nagelneu,dafür aber sauber.
Wir hatten die oberste FW ,mit 2.Schlaf/Kinderzimmer unterm Dach.(Ocean Wave)

Keine Parkmöglichkeit vorm Haus, unbewachter Parkplatz ca. 300 m vom Haus weg.(10€/Tag)….nervig
Das Haus liegt in einer ranzigen Gegend,es stinkt auf der Straße.
Und am Schlimmsten,man muss erst 250 € Kation bezahlen + 10€ Gebühr,ehe man den Key Code per email bekommt.
Das ist sicher kein Standard und hätte mich abgeschreckt,wenn ich diese Information zeitiger über Booking.com erhalten hätte.
Fazit: Finger weg.

Watch out for hidden extras in the price.
I had to pay refundable £250 damage waiver which I knew about before booking. Once I booked was given the option of the £250 or a non refundable £25 as a damage insurance. I thought this was a scam as I have holiday insurance
I was then told I would be charged £10 service charge. When I contacted customer service I was dealt with by numerous people one of which promised me a refund, one said I was lying and a third refused to refund it.
I have still not received a refund of the £250 damage waiver.

The smell…. After much searching found a milk spillage under the sink. Apparently apartment had been cleaned for our arrival, but how the cleaner did not smell an issue I don’t know. It stunk! Cleaned best we could but smell lingered.

The beds were great and location good.

There was a really strong smell of 'gone off milk' which was coming from the kitchen. It was really bad....on further inspection we could see spilt milk under the fridge...NEEDS CLEANING PROPERLY !!
Would also suggest new fridge as can't store anything in the door - all shelves broken.
Bathroom was OK but could maybe do with an upgrade....

It was bright in the bedrooms. It was not too far from the beach and amenities. It had all the basic utensils and utilities.

The lounge was dark and cluttered. The shower was poor. It did not feel especially clean. It was in a back street which seemed very sinister and unwelcoming.

The location was really good right at the top of the high street and very near the train station. Once in the property it was comfortable and the beds were nice too.

If you have any kind of mobility issues do not stay here it's up 3.5 sets of stairs and there steep steps too. The shower also is absolutely awful worst shower I've ever used I struggled to get the soap out my hair when I'd washed it. It's situated on an ally way which isn't nice rubbish, dog poo, and some very undesirable people. I was a mum with two girls traveling on my own and I'd not have walked down it in the dark so had to be in before dark. It's also next to a pub, right next to the pub and there was a fight with alot of swearing etc and my youngest child is 8! Not what I want her hearing .

the apartment was beautifully furnished and clean.The bed was extremely comfortable and I was impressed with the quality of the bedding and towels left for us.The kitchen was well equipped basically a home from home.I also loved how close to everything the apartment was in regards to the beach etc.It’s a straight 10-15 min walk straight through town to the sea front and a 2 min walk to the train station where you can catch buses frequently to get to places like Whitby,Bridlington etc and they are cheap to ride to so perfect for days out.Also close to Aldi,one stops and takeaways.I loved that a folder was left with all the information about buses and local tourist spots.

My only gripe is the kitchen and bathroom light been on the same switch but nothing that hindered the holiday

4. Unsafe location, particularly for women on their own

9. Felt ill as there were so many joss sticks and air fresheners aimed at sniffing out the damp smell

The decor and it was in town.

Next door to a pub and located on a busy alley/ walk through.
View was the front of maisonettes.
The fridge was smelly and had rotten veg from previous occupants.
No change of bedding linen, even when I asked domestic/ housekeeper.
He informed me that he would bring some at the agreed time of 5 pm on Friday 7th. Never showed up.

it's just the little things that can put a dampener on doing a return visit.

I liked that it was local to everything we needed. We had a beach 5 minutes away from us, which was really handy as I love a beach. The apartment is comfy and lovely.

I didn't like the fact that the boiler went, we had no hot water for 1 day. Also I'd recommend putting a washing machine in the apartments. For longer stays a washing machine is a must.

It was clean.

The room we were given did not match the advertised room and pictures. It was smelly and cramped with mismatched furniture. You couldn't use the kitchen unless you shut the door as the stove and fridge were behind the door. There was a steep, narrow staircase to the second bedroom that we knew nothing about from our communication with the company, despite the fact they knew we had mobility issues. We were aware the unit was on the third floor but could manage that once a day. Can you imagine going to the bathroom, which was through the sitting room and through the dining room, during the night? You'd be awake from putting all those lights on!

The numbers on the intercoms didn't match up so I disturbed a poor stranger. The intercom buzzer didn't work so my brother had to descend the 3 flights Io let me in. The living room whilst looking nice was not comfortable in the slightest and was really dark due to no natural. Light as the dining room window was diffused, the stairs were really steep. And rbe outer door opened onto the stairs.

The appartment was very dirty. The kitchen and bathroom especially. We had to ask for a re clean but it was very poorly done. Please get cleaners who actually care as after reading the reviews, this is a constant problem.

Self catering. Close to shops, cafes, takeaways and restaurants. Beach was around 10 mins walk. The bed was very comfortable and felt like a Queen size.

In the photographs, on Booking.com, it did not show that a pub was immediately attached to the house. Just felt slightly uncomfortable when returning in the evening due to the volume of the pub customers (but that's just a personal opinion).

Different window dressing would be better for privacy, rather than blocking out with strips of masking tape. Made flat gloomy. The Windows at the back needed cleaning as they were covered in pigeon poo as was the back wall which was the only view from our back window,. There was rubbish which needed removing from yard at back as it attracted flies into the flats which we was not good as we were asked to open windows (only two did actually open)in order to ventilate the flat. The area outside was scruffy and often had bin bags of rubbish left out which were ripped open by birds and once saw a rat there.

It was a 20 walk to the music concert at the open air theatre
It was two minute walk for going to the theatre to watch a play, two minute walk to a craft beer pub with live music
A 20 minute walk to the seafront entertainment
5 minute walk to Aldi for supplies
Parking on Victoria street a two minute walk away and inexpensive. I would recommend using the RingGo app so you don't have to go to your car as you only buy 6 hours at a time and most car parks in the Scarborough and Filey area use this app.

The pub next door was down market, we didn't have any trouble aside from some noise which didn't bother us but the customers on the street outside the front gate might seem intimidating to some people especially lone female travellers I would imagine. I wouldn't let it put you off though.

with the greatest of respect a bit more detailed cleaning ie mirrors and little things wouldn’t go a miss.
razor light didn’t work needs chain on bath plug.
these are things I would suggest needs attention when general maintenance is done as I wouldn’t suggest sending maintenance out specially as this would cost too much.

Beautiful apartment, Super King size Bed with wonderful cotton sheets. I've not slept in a more comfortable bed! Well located at the top end of town. Trendy decor, comfortable lounge. spotlessly clean. Very close to the station so easy to get to with or without a car.

The location was great, really central with restaurants and the town centre minutes away. We parked at the train station which had plenty of space, was very cheap and a 2 minute walk to the apartment. The beach was also very close by - only a ten minute stroll away. The apartment was really lovely - clean and tidy with everything you could need. The bed was huge with clean, fresh white bedding. Real luxury and so comfortable - the best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages. I loved the dressing room by the side of the bedroom - somewhere to get ready in the evening. It had a lovely, modern kitchen with all you could need, including coffee for the morning. It was well decorated throughout and everything looked new and fresh. We loved our stay and will definitely be booking again.

I didn’t like anything about the property

location nearby pubs make it very noisy during the night , and it has mouldy smell, dark only one window and the kitchen within the bed room

Everything!!
The place was huge!
The 2 beds together to make 1 was lush! Duck feathered duvets is always a massive bonus.
And the bath was really big, just what every cyclist needs.
Easy access also.
Decor was lovely too. Lots of mirrors. Rooms were light well.

Great place to stay & 10 mins from the centre and some good eateries. Beware the £50 cleaning charge though which we guess is applicable whether you stay one or seven nights ? Over one night pushes the price up a fair amount.

Location was good, close to town centre, and beach/sea. Lovely apartment, very clean tidy and comfortable.

When we arrived at 3.35pm which was after booking time of 3pm the cleaner was still there cleaning room so we had to go away and come back half hour later, which wasn't ideal. There was a dead pigeon in the yard, which we could see from the kitchen window. And the rug corners were curled over so we kept tripping over them

The apartment on the whole was perfect. Great facilities, well decorated, comfy beds. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal and the owners are very friendly and courteous.

The bedroom shutters didn't really keep the sunlight out which made it a little difficult to sleep. Also, it would be nice if it was dog friendly.

The layout of the property.

Having to phone because the toilet wouldn't flush. To be fair though they sorted it asap so thanks for that! 🙂
Also, no parking, a shame you can't get some kind of permit for the parking spaces directly opposite the flat!

The location was great! A couple of minutes walk from the train station and Wetherspoons just around the corner :-) close to an Aldi and other pubs and shops. The beds were very comfortable with lovely crisp white bedding on and the living room was very cosy with throws to put over yourself while watching tv at night. We will stay here again

The stairs to the apartment were a big disappointment because I wasn’t aware we had to go up 4 flights to get to the apartment we had booked but once in the apartment we was more than happy

The location was very good to reach all the attractions but I did not like the situation of the apartment. Very scruffy area.

I like Scarborough itself but unfortunately it is some of the locals that spoil it.

The beds were so comfortable and we liked the fact the hosts had thought of everything. The kitchen had everything and we loved our morning coffee with the coffee machine! We travelled down to York Christmas market for the day so the location was perfect! (2 minute walk)
The flats were located in a great location and there was lots of Christmas decorations which was a lovely touch!
There are some lovely cafes and bars in Scarborough and something for everyone!
Have already recommended ocean wave to friends and will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay😊

property was in a perfect location, a 2 min to the town centre a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 2 min walk from an Aldi for bits and pieces we needed to pick up for the weekend.

property was lovely and clean with there being coffee pods and tea bags already there when we arrived which I thought was a nice touch.

perfect for a nice few days away as flat is pretty big so you don’t feel cramped into a small space.

Would highly recommend this stay, really nice modern interior and very clean. 30 seconds from the train station and great location, only a 10 minute walk to the beach. Would definitely stay again.
