Le logement est très bien situé tout prêt de la plage. Il est propre. C'est assez simple de se garer dans la rue. La chambre 1 est très spacieuse. Le village est agréable et les gens très accueillant.

Il est stipulé qu'il s'agit d'une maison alors que c'est un appartement en rez-de-chaussée, le "jardin" n'existe pas , c'est une courette pour sortir dans la rue partagée avec l'appartement du dessus donc impossible de laisser sortir notre chien. La chambre 2 est minuscule, le lit inconfortable et on se cogne sur le cadre en bois chaque fois qu'on essaie d'en faire le tour car il est à 40cm des murs de tous les côtés. La taille du logement convient bien à deux personnes mais certainement pas à une famille et encore moins avec un chien.

A perfect stay by the sea. The apartment is modern and cosy. The beach is just a stone’s throw and we loved spending time on there morning and night. You can walk for miles along the sand. Highly recommend.

This place really was the ideal location for us - so close to the beach with the centre of Marske not far away too.
Top tip: additional free car parking available at the nearby Windy Hill Car Park - ideal if you need EV charging too!

The Flat was nice on arrival, the lounge lovely, and the location great for a beach walk to lovely Saltburn

A £25 none refundable damage payment. The kitchen already had a broken cupboard. There were only 3 wine glasses and broken prosecco glass pushed to the back of the cupboard.The rest of the glasses were dirty There were very limited utensils in the kitchen and no oven gloves.there was nothing there to be able to wipe down surfaces no hand wash in the bathroom, and the bath had a hole in it
not even a bin bag in the kitchen bin.
The pots and pans were not the cleanest, and the under sink cupboard was also lacking a good clean.
Lots of cobwebs and dust and the plastic plant near the rear bedroom had not seen a duster in .months.
The rear bedroom was also very very small and the bed was very uncomfortable and didn't feel of good quality
Overall disappointed with the lack of care and cleanliness and attention could have been so much better with a few more welcoming touches like a dishwasher tablet to start you off a dish cloth and some surface spray some hand-wash in the bathroom more than 1 toilet roll between 4 people. We have emailed the property but we have had no reply.

There's a ventilation problem in the bedrooms as before I went to bed I opened the bedsheets and they were all wet. There's no actual proper ventilation in the rooms which is probably the reason. The mattresses are probably covered in waterproof materials so we woke up in a puddle in the other bed too. Then the other bedroom you should hang some decent curtains as they're see through and offer no privacy. Also, last night we cooked a meal but the saucepan I left on the side is leaking water and another in cupboard is absolutely disgusting with food burned in the bottom. There should be a plunger so we could actually go to the toilet. Overall we feel you've overpriced this stay. Especially the lack of ventilation is very uncomfortable as we couldn't sleep in the soaked bed.

Charlie was really proactive and very helpful, providing clear instructions and information. The apartment is in a great location, just a short walk to the beach. Clean & comfortable. There are a few minor wear & tear things that need addressing like the chip in the bath and floors but nothing that stopped us enjoying our stay. A slightly later check out would be great, especially on a Sunday but again this didn’t effect our stay as we already had plans to leave early.
We really enjoyed our stay and will no doubt return.

The property has not been maintained to a reasonable standard and the cleaning schedule is inadequate.
We completed a ‘first impressions’ feedback but I don’t think it has been looked at. We have not had a reply.

Amazing location, 5 mins from the beech, no problems parking, very easy to find and access the property. I did not realise that the property was a ground floor apartment (perhaps I just didn't look closely enough), it wasn't too much of a problem but there was some noise from the upstairs flat (assuming they have laminate floor up there instead of carpets!) , wasn't excessive or anything, just unexpected. The area was very peaceful and quiet overall.
The property itself was very nicely laid out and clean and tidy. If I was being picky I would say the flooring throughout needs replacing and the bath needs resealing and mending but these are very minor issues and is more an aesthetic issue than functional.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. 😀

A lovely place, great location with the beach a few minutes walk plenty of space to relax, shops a few minutes walk we parked the car and went everywhere on foot including the perfect walk to the next town.
The downside is the place is a little rough around the edges and could do with a spruce, although very calm and relaxing.
There were no bin bags provided, no kitchen cloth to wipe the sides or kitchen spray to clean the sides and no hand soap.
All of the above making it difficult to clean up after yourself if you had wanted to cook (we didn’t).
Also the early 10 am check out on a weekend made us feel rushed (check out in most places is 11).
I would recommend this place and would probably stay again if I was in the area.

We booked through Booking.com and they marketed this as a 2-bed house. This is not a house, but a ground floor apartment.
We could hear the people above very easily, once being awoken by them shouting.
The property was not very clean and it is generally tired and grubby. There is still a crack in the bath that I saw someone on a previous review mention.

We felt that to be asked for yet more money in case we broke something was a bit of a con. £300 with £10 not refunded or £30 non refundable. The place is already on the expensive side as it is.
There could definitely be a superking in the main bedroom and the second bedroom is a very small double. Which could benefit from curtains as it’s very very light.
The tv in the living room is really small, could do with an update.
There is a crack in the bath which I reported, I cut myself on it.
Great position for the beach and nice and quiet.

The apartment was as previewed in the photographs and I have no major complaints! It was a lovely location, on a private street with parking and short distance to the beach. The rooms were lovely and adequate for a small group or family. My points would be that the experience did not feel very personal as it is run by a company. They barely provided any supplies that I thought would be expected in a self catering Airbnb (such as salt and pepper, kitchen spray and sponge). There are plenty Airbnb's which provide this, and it is a basic commodity in the kitchen, therefore I was a bit disappointed when I was told they don't supply these. The walls were thin, so I could hear the neighbors upstairs which made me feel quite exposed, and the home fairly non-private. I also did not feel it was super clean. The couch was dusty, with dog hair still present, and there were still father's day cards in the living room from the previous guest the weekend before...IT was Ok, there are better Airbnbs.

Host & Stay insist on a damage waiver policy which is easy to overlook. As a long term user of Air BnB I have never come across this before and it took me unawares.
The accommodation itself was perfect.
We came across a minor issue with the flat (the CO alarm was out of battery). I found having to communicate via Host and Stay frustrating compared to talking to the owner directly.

My impression of this property was that thought had been put into the furnishings and decor. The bed linen and towels were lovely and clean. The modern kitchen was fully equipped but not a drop of cleaning fluid was provided which was, I think, an oversight.

We have just returned from bank holiday weekend at retreat by the sea and loved every minute. The apartment is beautifully finished and spotlessly clean. There is everything you could possibly need and it’s so light and spacious, we visited with our two small children one aged 4 years and 7. months and we had so much room. Our 4 year old didn’t want to leave the holiday house and in honesty neither did we.
The location is perfect right by the beech and a short walk to the village centre. We had no problem parking when we arrived. We would not hesitate to book again. Thank you so much

A pretty little gem.

The place is immaculate. Lovely modern decor, super clean linen, clean bathroom. Nice space to be in.
Little garden- not big enough for children but I don’t have any. Does have a cute table and chair to sit out if the weather is nice.
The town is well equipped with some takeaways, shops, restaurants etc.
The beach is gorgeous and a stone throw from the house/studio.
Lovely little community garden in front of the property.

The downside is the on road parking. Due to it being so close to the beach others park their in the day but it didn’t detract from a well priced, well positioned stay on the N/E coast. Pretty and a lovely walk to Saltburn along the beach only a few miles.

In a lovely position near a very beautiful beach.
The flat is tastefully decorated with a cosy lounge and clean.
The accomodation has a constant change in levels and rugs that are quite slippy not good for anyone who is unsteady.
There are basic things missing, no wardrobes but shelves in the large bedroom, the small bedroom has 2 small draws and a rail on the ceiling to high to be of any use …. no shelves, draws or wardrobe, the bed is uncomfortable.
The dining space is small especially for 4 people.
No grab rail in the shower
Towels provided are small and thin, bring your own.

The property was in a great location

The property was not ready for our arrival. The property had not been cleaned for our check-in time of 3pm. After along drive we wanted to get into the property and freshen up and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately we could not do this as we had to contact host and stay to arrange for someone to come and clean the property. We therefore could not get into the property until after 6pm. This was extremely disappointing start to our holiday as we wasted a lovely afternoon trying to sort out cleaning for the property.

Great location, very near (250m or so) to a lovely beach. Really well equipped and presented / decorated throughout.

We were (possibly naïvely) expecting Retreat by the Sea to have nobody else living in the same house… In fact the property had a family occupying the first floor (possibly the owners?) whilst we were there. While the ground floor accommodation we stayed in was completely self-contained as described, it didn’t feel like the secluded escape expected, due to the frequent loud noises (raised voices, creaking floorboards and barking dog in particular) that we could hear from above. I’m guessing the upstairs residents could probably hear us at times too: so apologies if they were disturbed as well…

Great apartment, very clean. Had everything we needed, including coffee and tea.
Host were great, checking up on us over email just in case we needed anything.
Location is great
just 2 minutes walk to the beach, we had our dog with us and she absolutely loved long walks on the beach.
Parking was on first come basis, which we have been advised by the host, but we have always managed to park nearby.

A very good place to stay - excellent location 5 minutes walk from the beach, 10 minute walk into Marske, 10 minute drive to Saltburn. A comfortable family apartment (the smaller second bedroom might be a bit tight for 4 adults, but fine for us with 2 high school age kids), clean and tidy, and nicely furnished. Would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful house right by the sea. Perfect location for exploring the coastline. Very dog friendly. Beds so comfortable and the house had everything you needed for a relaxing stay.

As others have commented you can hear a lot from the flat upstairs which is such a shame.

Also the garden isn't just for your use as the flat upstairs has access via metal stairs that take up a large space in the garden. From the listing's explanation I was expecting a private garden that we could just use and my dog was safe to roam in so this was a little disappointing.

If you don't mind these two things though it is a perfect place to stay.

* Request for cleaning items not met. (Nothing to clean the floor or dishwasher tablets.) No bowl to wash dishes either.

* The noise from the residents above is constant. There is little to no sound proofing. From the moment they are awake, so are you. The doors banging and noise from walking up and down the stairs is quite disturbing.

* Snagging List:
1. The floor in bathroom is damaged. Dangerous with nothing on your feet.
2. Damp in the main bedroom.
3. Missing chain from right blind in main bedroom. Couldn't open once closed.
4. Property needs a deep clean. Cupboards dirty, wooden floor damaged and dusty (under kitchen table), back of sofas dusty, wooden wall claddin needs to be fixed to wall properly.
5. The outside area could do with drain covers and made more welcoming to sit in.

The milk in fridge is a nice touch.

The property is in a fantastic location and could be so much better than it currently is presented. We were sold a relaxing and luxurious stay, but it hasn't worked out the break we expected.

Also from the minute walking into the property we were reminded about our checkout time! Receiving texts, emails and even the tablet in the property was constantly telling us to vacate by 10am on our leaving day. Not what you want throughout your holiday!

Unfortunately we would not return the this property and could not recommend to our family and friends.

We absolutely loved our stay at Retreat by the Sea!
The apartment was gorgeous - modern, beautifully decorated with a coastal theme (LOVED the kitchen and biggest bedroom), and it was so clean and tidy.
The property was very well equipped with plenty of cutlery/plates/mugs/glassware, cooking equipment and utensils, cleaning equipment, plenty of towels, and extra touches like milk in the fridge when we arrived. I was also impressed that there were champagne flutes which is a rarity i
I find! The TV has Netflix also which is fab for relaxing.
The beach was about a 1 or 2 minute walk and there's lovely cafés and pubs close also - we found the area to be very dog friendly which was ideal for us. There is a sainsburys local about 5 minute walk from the property also.

Overall an absolutely fabulous stay and would stay again in future!

A really lovely and well equipped place to stay. The location was perfect for the beach, which was simply delightful. The apartment is really stylishly decorated and there’s more than enough room for 2 couples. The second bedroom, although comfortable, might be a little tight for some people, with limited storage. Marske-by-the-sea is a real jewel in the area, everything you need to hand and the public gardens opposite are a lovely place to walk to the sea.

Had a brilliant stay in Marske. The location was perfect, just a 2 minute walk from the beach and plenty shops/takeaways nearby. Loved that it’s dog friendly and had a little garden for her. The check in/out process was really simple and communication from the hosts was great. The property was very clean and is decorated to a very high standard. Felt like a real home away from home and we would love to come back again soon!
