It’s a long way up to the apartment (so not for anyone with mobility issues) but the apartment and balcony views are more than worth the effort

Fantastic location one of the best views in Whitby! The apartment was very comfy and clean and had everything you need.

To get the best view you have to climb the highest mountain as they say. 75 steps! But was worth it

A lovely apartment with great views, my family and parents had a lovely short stay.
The ceilings are a touch low for tall people but I wasn't in there much as there is so much to see in Whitby.

Great location, beautiful apartment and amazing views from the balcony.
Very clean apartment and isolated on the top floor so no noise sitting watching the world go by.
Large bedrooms and plenty of storage space.
We even spotted a whale going along the coast which we had been advised was in the area a few days.

Not 100% the control of the owners but external windows could do with a more regular clean due to the amount of Seagulls. Appreciate access isn't easy but looked like it hadn't been done this year.

Dear sirs,

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction and to lodge a formal complaint regarding the handling of our booking for a seafront penthouse flat, which we had reserved for a four-night stay commencing from the 3rd April 2024 to the 7th April 2024. Despite our anticipation for a relaxing and comfortable stay, our experience was marred by a series of unprofessional mishandlings on your part.Upon our arrival, after enduring a taxing four-hour journey in appalling weather conditions, with two children in tow, we were met with the shocking revelation that our reserved accommodation had been double-booked. This oversight on your part is not only inexcusable but also reflects a gross negligence of duty on your part and based on the already £900 paid by myself can only have been motivated by greed. What compounded our frustration was the subsequent 2.5 hours spent attempting to resolve an issue that should never have arisen, time which we had intended to spend settling in and relaxing after our long journey and enjoying the first night by attending a local restaurant, whilst due to the delay and the anger felt by my wife and we ended up losing any enjoyment from our first evening which left us with no alternative but to re-plan our stay in Whitby which meant we had to reduce the time we had planned in relation to certain venues and attractions.

To our further dismay, the alternative accommodation provided is obviously cheaper and markedly inferior in quality to what we had booked and anticipated. This discrepancy is clearly evident when reviewing the pricing and specifications online.Given the circumstances, including the significant inconvenience, the distress caused to my family, and the tangible downgrade in accommodation quality, we find it only fair to request compensation. Therefore, we are seeking a refund amounting to 30% of the total cost of our booking.

Great flat right on the coastline - great to wake each morning and sea / hear the waves crashing against the shore . Ideal for a short trip to Whitby !

Excellent location great views and lovely apartment. Well equipped everything worked and easy to use, although WIFI not great. Good quality linen and towels. On the negative side in no order. Mattresses and pillows not great and no mattress cover on the on suite bed. Carpets in the lounge and hallway need a good clean stained in places and some stains on the seating. We had great weather and headed for the balconies which disappointingly were filthy. Given the cost of the accommodation and the extra cleaning charge we were expecting perfection.

Really lovely location. Unrivalled sea views. Clean apartment with plenty of space. Wonderful to have 2 balconies to choose from. Comfortable beds with lovely towels and some toiletries to use.
Some polite suggestions to make this 5*
• a welcome pack with milk/bread and a few dishwasher tablets would be welcomed.
• A clear fire plan and marked fire exit plus some extinguishers somewhere in the building would also have made me feel more settled during my stay given this was the apartment at the top of the building.

We had a very enjoyable 4 day stay in Whitby. The apartment is well equipped and has the best view of Whitby! Check in and check out super easy. Not one for people with any type of mobility issue, there are a lot of stairs up to the apartment. We found the area to be quiet, which was nice. It’s literally 5-10 mins from the centre with lots of shops, pubs, restaurants etc… this is also down, (and back up!!)a steep hill. The only criticism I can make is that some of the cleaning was not up to the standard you’d expect, especially as this is an expensive place to stay. The main areas were ok, just lacked the attention to detail I expected for the price. Finally, the ceilings are low throughout.

Pier view penthouse is in a great location with a fantastic sea view. We found the interior to be nice but neither as nice, nor as clean as advertised. The price would be a fair price if the apartment was immaculate, but it wasn’t. For example, we found thin towels, one with a hole in, a very dirty kitchen cupboard shelf, some dirty dishes, unclean and wobbly toilet roll holders, a snagged bed throw, old bird poo on the patio windows, poor wifi, and a difficult to use/faulty hob. We hope the apartment can be improved to reflect the listing for future guests.

The flat was in an incredible location. We had a really nice time in a great place.

I gave the stay 4 stars, just because it’s really expensive and there were a few easy things that could have been included. For example, you’d expect milk in the fridge. Similarly, there was an espresso coffee machine and only one pod. There was some confusion over the internet - with 2 networks in the flat and the tv sound didn’t work.

I also requested another parking pass (for a 3 bed apartment, you’d expect more than one car) but this was at a cost of £5 and because I didn’t provide an email to be invoiced, it didn’t get sorted. I think, for somewhere like this, just provide a couple?

Lastly, be aware that, on top of the fee for staying in the flat you must part with £25 to pay for a ‘damage deposit’. And that you cannot under any circumstances change your dates (we attempted to sue to being worried against travelling with heavy snow).

So, a lovely time but some easy tweaks to make it 5*.

The old saying "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here!
Although the apartment was a little on the expensive side for Whitby, it certainly didn't disappoint!
The apartment was immaculate, and exactly as shown in the photos. Stunning views and in easy walking distance of the main town. Paying a little extra for something special with the wow factor certainly made our stay very memorable!
Checking in was very easy and straightforward, exactly as instructed in the very detailed info pack sent to us online.
One thing to mention - as this is the top floor penthouse apartment there are many flights of steps to climb, but once inside the views out onto the sea more than make up for it!
10/10 and we would definitely book this apartment again!

An amazing place to stay. Wonderful views from the balconies and windows of the pier and sea. We watched dolphins playing with the tour boats and the fishing boats coming and going. It's a quiet location, being so high up, and leaving the bedroom door open we could hear the waves crashing at night - once Fields of the Nephilim had finished their set in the Whitby Pavilion. The place was light and airy, spotless, well maintained with good facilities and comfy furniture and beds. The location was perfect for the beach and the lively town - especially lively as it was Whitby Goth Weekend when we went! There was a friendly atmosphere and vibrant buzz to the town, along with some amazing costumes. Activities for non-Goths like us include a 20 minute walk to the Abbey and 15 minutes to the Cinder Trail, which is a beautiful walk along an old rail line, going over a viaduct. The boat rides are good value for money, especially if you get to see the dolphins. The apartment is close to the pubs and restaurants, and Pizza West is a 5 minute walk away, doing incredible pizzas, but book early - we could only get a take away. The only downside to the location is parking, which is very scarce. Having spent ages circling round trying to find a spot in the "W" zone (which you are given a pass for), I ended up parking about 10 minutes walk away along Spring Vale. We never had to use the car again for the rest of the trip, so it wasn't a major problem for us. We would love to stay again, maybe for the next Goth Weekend, if we can find some leather trench coats and massive boots.

Lovely penthouse apartment in great location overlooking sea and beach. Stairs would be too much for those with mobility issues as no lift available. But all in all we would use again.

the apartment was lovely

We had a fire alarm in the middle of the night and had to evacuate the building. the fire service attended. First of all there should of been a map of the zones for the fire service to see but unfortunately this wasn’t displayed and the fire services couldn’t locate which apartment it was from, as some of the apartments were unattended. I had my 76 year old Mother with me. We had to stand outside in the middle of the night. My complaint is that I tried contacting the owners via booking.com but they told we the owners were unresponsive. I tried several times. my Mother was becoming distressed… still no one responded. Who are you supposed to contact in case of such emergency????? I filed an official complaint via booking.com but still no response from the owners. I have requested a refund for the first night and still no response. As far as I am concerned the owners have a duty of safety and care for their guests. I have been completely ignored!

We had a fabulous stay at Pier View Penthouse, depsite several flights of stairs to reach the top. The view was amazing and we really appreciated the balconies. Everything in the apartment is brand new, clean and fresh. The West Cliff location is delightfully quiet yet only 5 minutes walk down the hill you're in the throng of Whitby town.
