Perfect base close to the town centre but far enough from the hustle and bustle to be able to relax after a long day exploring the area. Beautiful coastline, lots of things to see and experience. Dog friendly too!

Host and Stay were good at giving clear instructions on how to find the property it was in great location which meant we could go everywhere by foot. We had very easy check in. Me and my friends were able to relax and have fun weekend away in Whitby. The house was fairly clean bedrooms were very tidy and welcoming. The only criticism we had was there was water in the sink in the kitchen when we got there and food in it. Overall though I thought it was good value for money.

It is possible to get to the property to unload if you follow the link host and stay send with the key code 6 hours before AND you are confident with extreemly tight turns and very narrow lane. Just did it in our volvo X40, wouldn't want anything bigger. Otherwise, park outside Botham the bakers in Skinner Street and walk it. It's only 3 mins. Disc parking ( get a disc from one of the shops). After an initial slight cleaning hiccup, lovely property, nicely decorated and clean, excellent position, well equipped except why oh why not provide a t- towel to dry up. Be aware, 2nd bedroom is absolutely fine, but up a steep narrow stair way if you have any mobility issues. Excellent micro bar at the bottom of Skinner Street, Excellent mussels at the Fishermans Wife.

Although I unfortunately couldn't travel due to a last-minute change of plans, my husband and daughter stayed here and had a wonderful time. The property was in a great location, particularly for our daughter, who was competing in a coastal rowing competition. Being so close to the beach made the weekend much easier and more enjoyable. The owners were exceptionally communicative throughout, keeping us informed before arrival. Their helpfulness was especially appreciated given the late change to our plans. My husband and daughter found the accommodation comfortable, clean and well-equipped, and they thoroughly enjoyed their time in Whitby. Based on their experience, we would happily recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting the area, whether for a seaside break or a sporting event. Thank you for helping make their stay such a positive one.

We had a great stay. Very quiet but well positioned in a lovely area of Whitby with lots of shops and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. We would’ve liked some basic supplies though, oil, salt, pepper, coffee pods, fresh milk etc but there were bathroom supplies. Very pet friendly. Would stay again.

We stayed for a week at Penny Farthing cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. Walkable to Whitby centre, and good sized rooms, well presented and decorated. Only thing we would suggest is that if you're staying for a week and plan to cook - there are not many utensils/cooking equipment. No oven trays, bread knives etc. Having stayed at other Airbnbs, ones with kitchens usually have these plus basics such as oil, salt, pepper and usually have a welcome basket on arrival. This would be a nice personal touch. Some areas quite dusty but overall clean and tidy. Host & Stay very responsive and we did stay another night as we were really enjoying our time. We would stay again in future.

Penny Farthing cottage was a perfect choice for our stay in Whitby. It is just lovely and is in a fabulous location for getting around town, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bakeries practically on the doorstep. The cottage itself was very clean, cosy and comfortable and the hosts are communicative and very responsive. Overall we had a wonderful short getaway at the cottage.

Great place to stay in Whitby. Lots to do in the area with great walking and transport links. The house was clean, very well presented and lovely and warm. It was very windy and below zero temperatures outside while we visited but the house was warm and cosy. We were able to find free parking due to the time of year and managed to drive to the house to drop off and pick up our luggage. Yes the road is very narrow and you have to know your car but our estate managed it.

Absolutely loved our stay in Whitby. The house is stunning and was spotless on arrival. The location is perfect. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful throughout, which made the stay even better. We couldn’t have asked for more and would 100% stay here again. Highly recommend!

Overall happy with our stay, there were a few large cobwebs on the wall, one in the en suite and the grout in the shower in the en suite could do with a good clean. It’s a great location close to shops and restaurants, very nicely decorated with most things you’d need. No pods for the coffee machine and no instant coffee either which is a little stingy. I’d recommend the cottage to family and friends.

Great location in Whitby, right next to a lovely street of shops and bars. No more than a 5 minute walk from all key areas and therefore the best part of this stay. The home is a really nice space, plenty of space for us with a baby and our dog. The only suggestion for improvement would be the cleanliness of the place which had significant dog hair on the sofa, a plaster underneath the bath and fairly dusty in places. It didnt worry us too much but I know others that wouldn't have been so keen! Overall I would recommend staying here - its very convenient and the long stay car park is close enough also!

Lovely cottage in a great location. Comfy beds, lovely bathroom and kitchen and cosy living area. Really well thought out space. Only suggestions would be - be a little clearer on the parking options. There is a long stay car park at west cliff - parking permits were mentioned and when I asked I was just referred to the digital house guide ( which didn’t cover parking permits). And 2 coffee pods for a booking of 4 - first world problem - but seems a bit stingy!

Penny Farthing Cottage is a wonderful vacation rental. The space is beautifully laid out with all amenities needed for a great stay. It is extremely walkable to many pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend to future guests

We stayed here for a few days while attending a wedding and really enjoyed our time. The house was just like the photos — clean, tidy, and well equipped with everything we needed. The living room was cosy, the kitchen spotless (the dishwasher was a big plus!), and the bedrooms were comfortable and nicely presented. The only small thing to mention is that there wasn’t an anti-slip mat in the ensuite shower, so we just had to be a little careful. The location is excellent, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and the beach is only about a 10-minute walk. Just note that there’s no parking at the property, but there’s a car park about five minutes away. The house is down a narrow cobbled street, so we dropped our bags off first and then parked — which worked fine. Overall, the accommodation was perfect for our stay — clean, comfortable, and well thought-out. We’d happily stay here again.

We had a great stay at Penny Farthing cottage. Location is fantastic with pubs and restaurants in walkable distance. The cottage is lovely with everything you need - the little touches such as body wash / shampoo was a great touch plus the dog shower outside was very useful after a run around for the dogs on the beach! Would stay again.

We loved our short stay in Whitby. The only issue we had was with parking. The instructions were a bit vague and road suggested is for only 24 hours. There is a sign at the beginning of the road which isn’t visible when driving as it is above the car, which resulted in us getting a ticket. We parked at the West Cliff carpark which us a short walk away.

Beautiful interior. Was easy to find and close to all the amenities we needed for our stay. Would definitely stay again and great to know there is a shower in the courtyard for the dogs if we were to bring them next time. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were clear instructions for the bins too. Beautiful place, would definitely recommend.

Great location in walking distance of beach and shops etc. Very clean and comfortable for 4 people. Not much equipment for cooking and a few coffee pods, tea bags and long life milk. Also note that the check in is not until 4pm and check out is 10am. It’s through a company so several very long automated messages received before and during stay.

We had a great stay. A beautiful spacious property and in a great location close by to shops, restaurants and pubs. Check in was easy with a key lock box. The google streetview for the address shows the next street over but the actual street and house is much nicer than what appears on maps!

Our stay at Penny Farthing Cottage was brilliant! Location was fab only a short walk to the beach, pubs and restaurants. The cottage was sparkly clean absolutely spotless! The dog shower in the back yard was a nice touch for muddy paws! The hosts looked after us and we only had to ask if we needed anything We would definitely stay here again

Beautiful cottage, centrally located but up a quiet side street. Very tight for car unloading, parking on West Cliff free at this time of year. There were a few tea bags,coffee sachets and milk portions to welcome us. Basics such as hand soap and a small shower gel sachet provided.

We stayed here for a week over Christmas and it was lovely. The cottage is within very short walking distance of Whitby town centre and minute's from the beach and it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The beds and furniture were lovely and comfortable and the cottage was spotless. We would highly recommend and will return here.

The cottage is lovely, very clean, as advertised. The ‘Host and Stay’ company they use was a really frustrating experience. - Wrong keysafe code given. - Excessive non-airbnb checks - Extra damage waiver deposit payments required - 6 lengthy messages during our 1-night stay Excessive cleaning fee of £60. We pay half that at home for a larger house.
