The property was well kept. They left some body/hair wash, soap,milk & cleaning supplies. The stairs are extremely steep so I wouldn’t say young children friendly unless they are confident on stairs. All in all a great property in a great area! Nice and quite perfect for relaxing.

House very clean and location was quiet yet easily access to town which was useful to us. Kitchen is tiny and lounge is small so if there had been 4 adults - would not not have been much room. Parking close by so that was also useful. Our key issue was that we could not get into the property until 7pm (as opposed to 4pm) and having driven 5 hours from the south in time to check-in, to get a phone call at 3.30pm to say we couldn’t get in until 7pm was very frustrating to say the least. Started us off on a negative footing.

5 stars Really enjoyable stay at Fountains Cottage. The central location made everything easy — we could walk to the shops, pubs and Guisborough Priory, and it was a perfect base for day trips to the Moors and coast. The cottage felt clean, comfortable and well looked after. Check-in was straightforward and we settled in quickly. Beds were great after long days out, and the whole place just worked for a relaxed short break. Would happily stay again.

The stairs were so steep and narrow. They were a hazard and I wouldn’t have booked the place had I know as I had my 83 year old parents with me. The place is generally clean but there are dirty stains on the door of the bathroom and scuff marks on the paintwork that would clean off and make the place look better. It’s extremely small overall, and 4 people would struggle to manage here. The kitchen is tiny and can only have one person in there at a time. The location was great and the car parks opposite were very handy, but overall the place felt claustrophobic. We left two days early

We stayed in Guisborough and the location is good. We booked through a company called Host and Stay, we didn’t realise until arrival that we had used this company in 2025 in Marske by the Sea. Their cleaning standards are unacceptable, the house was very dusty ( again another error on our part we should have read the reviews more thoroughly). First impressions ok, but look at height and behind furniture, the house was hung in dust ( others reported the same). You call the company and receive words only. They lack integrity and simply want to buffer the conversation with internal communications with their cleaning company. We always get exceptional feedback as we are very respectful people. We respected this property like all others. Any family etc proposing to stay in a Host & Stay property, due your due diligence if you don’t want any shocks.

One of the beds was broken. It was clear that they had previously tried to fix it, however, there was two broken legs, 4 broken slats and the middle joist was snapped in half. I rang the number provided straight away and we was told that somebody could only come out the day later. The kitchen utensils and cupboards were dirty, stains in the cupboards and drawers. The rest of the house was relatively clean however the walls are desperate for a fresh coat of paint, lots of marks and chips on the walls and woodwork.

Overall met requirements needed for the weekend, good location, easy accessibility/ parking and comfy beds. House could do with a deep clean (surface level was fine) and a freshen up as lots of marks on the walls, woodwork and carpet.

the place was peaceful and great base for visiting family-we stayed for 3 nights- the bedrooms are upstairs ( they are double beds and felt too small for us so we had to sleep in one each) and the bathroom downstairs so did feel a little bit inconvenient having to navigate steep steps to use the loo in the middle of the night ( fortunately there is a handrail) - the shower door was only held on with one bracket so difficult to close door properly ( there was a repair kit for this in the bathroom) we reported on the first day but it was not seen to whilst we were there so Hopefully it has since been rectified for future guests- the space in the kitchen is very small so difficult to find counter space to cook properly and could not find oven gloves - overall I would say the space is clean and comfortable for a short stay but not really well equipped enough for a long stay

Guisborough is just outside the North Yorkshire Moors and is easily reached from the major routes. We visited during the August bank holiday and towns like Whitby were heaving but Guisborough was quiet. The house has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It's very comfortable and well equipped. The High Street is 5 minutes away with pubs and cafés. Supermarkets are all represented. The owners kindly left us a few useful things to get us started. My only caution is that the stairs are very steep and narrow so wouldn't advise for anyone with mobility issues. We'll definitely come back!

Amazing stay, Dale & the team are great hosts. Accommodating and accepting of many questions. Quiet area, with nice places around it to eat at. Less than 3 minute walk into the town centre so it’s not too far, but also far enough to not hear the noise during the nights! thanks.

The cottage is tiny but well-appointed. The bedrooms are a reasonable size and comfortable. The decor is pleasant and in perfect condition. The location is perfect - central and convenient. Our only slight concern was the steepness of the stairs: would not be navigable for someone very old or frail.

Our stay at Fountains cottage, Guisborough, was ideal. The beds were so comfy. Only downside was that the stairs to the bedrooms were very steep. Not great for elderly or infirm. Everything else was fine. It was so handy for all amenities. There is a supermarket just around the corner. There are plenty eateries nearby and within walking distance. All I all a lovely stay

The house has quite a quirky shape being on a slight corner between two regular houses. However the layout has been very well designed to make best use of the space. The two bedrooms each has a double bed and reasonable amount of storage. The stairs are very steep and narrow and those who aren't that fit will struggle especially since the bathroom is downstairs through the kitchen. The kitchen is small and narrow but reasonably well equipped, the bathroom is also good. We only used the back bedroom as a couple and 4 people may find the property quite confined. The front bedroom smelled very smoky. Parking outside the property is for resident permit but there is a car park opposite on Fountain St. However for those staying in Guisborough the best value is in Belmont View Care Home car park at £2 a day.

The property is well located and we had no issues with parking during our stay. Unfortunately the property was quite a bit smaller than pictured. The stairs were extremely steep and generally, it felt quite run down. There were a lot of marks and scuffs on the walls and furniture. The properly was clean on the surface, but if you yourself like things to be clean, then I think you’ll find a few issues throughout. The bathroom felt particularly dirty. If we had only been staying for a night, it probably wouldn’t have been an issue. However, we stayed for three nights and by the second night we were ready to leave. We also asked the host to provide more than one toilet roll, and they never responded to our request. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great place to stay if visiting the area. Was visiting family in Guisborough and booked this cottage for the weekend. Very clean and less than 2min walk to Guisborough village itself. Definitely recommend and will book again.

Overall a nice stay. A clean, modern interior, and the beds were comfy. A small number of maintenance jobs needed doing, but I imagine they'll be done soon. Parking was a bit tricky for us, but we coped. Nearby pub has a music licence, so bear that in mind if you like an early night. However, for convenience of local cafes, bars and restaurants, and as a hub for the north east it was pretty good.

The house is located near shops and there is a parking opposite. It is furnished, clean and it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed being able to travel to places nearby like Whitby and Robin’s Hood Bay. The stairs can be a bit daunting if you have reduced mobility or young children but it is manageable. Instructions for check in and check out were easy to follow and clear. Heating was efficient which made the stay comfortably warm despite the cold weather and the kitchen was a great feature as it allowed us to cook breakfasts and dinners. All in all, a comfortable stay if you have a car to visit places nearby. We all got good rest and felt safe :)

Exceptionally clean and well appointed accommodation handily sited in Guisborough for use as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside and coast. The downsides are the steep staircase to the two bedrooms , the downstairs loo and bathroom and a general narrowness to the property that might cause problems for people with eating disorders etc. In our case, not a problem. We would definitely stay here again. Parking is free between 1800 and 0800 in the handy car park opposite and is £4 all day otherwise. You can park for free in the adjacent Morrison’s between 0800 and 1000 (2 hour max) We managed to juggle parking at zero cost be warned, Guisborough is the parking unfriendly place we have encountered in many years

Cottage is rather compact, but very centrally located. Parking wasn’t the problem we expected, as free from 6pm to 8am and then two free hours taking you to 10am, so if you are out all day, as we were, not really an issue. Cottage was very clean and clearly, recently done. Furnishings, bedlinen etc all very good. Slightly odd layout, but as a place to sleep and shower, it was fine. If you plan to self- cater, the kitchen is very tiny with no storage and limited workspace, so not ideal for more than doing breakfast and heating something up. We were a bit disappointed that Guisborough didn’t have more restaurants and pubs serving food. However, Cookfellas on Church St was very good.

Cosy house in a lovely town! We stayed here for a wedding nearby and it was perfect. The house is compact but has everything you need and the decor is really lovely. The beds were very comfy! Car park opposite is very handy and was really quiet the whole time we were there.

Lovely last minute find. Great location for exploring North Yorkshire, with local amenities and a big supermarket in walking distance. House is compact, and the stairs are very steep but has been decorated to a high standard and had everything you need for a pleasant stay. Communication was great and directions/access to the property via the key box was straight forward. Parking was £4 per day for 24hours in the small car park opposite the house (free between 6pm and 8am). Would recommend.

Compact but clean little cottage. The stairs are steep so perhaps not ideal for the infirm or very young children but this was well flagged in advance. Great location for local amenities and easy access to the local woods, to the coast and to the moors.

A great find on the edge of Guisborough town centre!! Really clean and well decorated, the amenities were well stocked and maintained. We found this to be a great base for a birthday weekend away - just 3 mins walk into the cafe/restaurant hotspots and a convenIent 30 minutes drive into Whitby. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying again soon.
