Within walking distance to the lovely village pub, The Coach Inn, you'll be perfectly placed to enjoy Lesbury, Alnwick and the rest of the coast.

The space

Old Reading Room oozes character and charm throughout its spacious rooms. Retaining many features of the historic past, including beams and wooden floors, it is bursting with elegance and makes the perfect holiday let to gather with friends and family.

The beautiful and impressively spacious living room has a feature fireplace housing an attractive wood burner, with period plate shelving around all the walls, used as storage for books. This is a delightful room and the hub of the home.

The individually designed, bespoke country kitchen has been custom made by a local kitchen maker and has granite and solid wood worktops as well as a large island and butler sink.

A fabulous wide central staircase with polished timber handrails leads to the first-floor landing with two skylights providing oodles of natural light and the exposed beams accentuate the historic nature of this gorgeous home.

The property features three bedrooms – one king, one double, and one twin. The master king features an ensuite shower room, whilst the remaining bedrooms have access to the main bathroom in the property.

A trundle bed is available in the master bedroom at Old Reading which can be made up upon request. When made up, the occupancy of the property will be increased to 8.

The family bathroom offers a bathtub with separate shower, WC and basin, while the ensuite is home to a walk-in shower. On the ground floor, there is a third bathroom which acts as a wet room.

From the front gate, a long path meanders to the front of the property. To the side elevation there is a gorgeous south-facing, cottage-style garden, enjoying the sun from early morning until late evening, visited by barn owls at night. A separate enclosed garden can be found off from the cottage garden. Great for dogs, this is a generously sized space.

Guest access

Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Old Reading Room are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to check in.

Private on-site parking is available for up to three vehicles.

A maximum of two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Old Reading Room per reservation.

The listing is inaccurate (still). It says there is an EV charger - there is not. We were told that it was a "plug" outside not an EV charger on the morning of arrival - this meant we had to spend several hours away from the property to charge the car. Beaing in mind this was a short weekend break this was a significant % of the stay. The pictures show an Aga. There is but with a label stuck to it saying it does not work. We felt we had to wash all the dishes before use - just a bit grimy. We asked about early check in. There was NO booking before us that week. only on the day did Host and Stay talk about outrageous fees for doing so. I did contact host and stay about the charger. They said sorry for "MY" misundertanding. It is still on the listing as such and frankly is mis-representation. Would have been approprite, to have some wood etc there to light the fire However the property is very pleasant and the location great, and the local pub and shop very friendly.

Really great property, very close to Alnwick in the car. Great local dog friendly pub in walking distance, plenty of places to visit. The house was the perfect size for us (5 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs) with a lot of safe outdoor space for the dogs as well.

Excellently furnished, fully equipped kitchen, wood-burner in the sitting room, close to the sea: The Old Reading Room was a beautiful place to stay.

Had a really lovely weekend family get together staying at this great property that ticked all the boxes. Such a beautifully appointed house, fantastic kitchen, spotless linens and bathrooms and a great location for exploring the area. Being pet friendly meant our beloved 4 legged friend could also join the fun! Would highly recommend :)
