We stayed for a couple of nights and an ideal house and location. The local area is nice with lots of places to eat and things to do. Quiet walks along the beach, but equally not far from Newcastle for a bit more bustle. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and had everything we required. The garden space is nice and we used it to sit out when the weather allowed.

Our stay at Emilyn’s House was perfect for family. The location of the house was close to family, who were in Sunderland and South Shields. The house had everything we needed for our stay and the communication with Charlie was superb. We look forward to staying here on future visits to the area.

We travelled to the property as a family, 6 adults we cannot recommend the property highly enough, it was a great stay. We will be visiting again as my brother and pregnant wife live 10 minutes drive away, so we are already looking forward to our next visit, and think we have found the perfect home from home for family time and visits to see the new baby. We are very much looking forward to our next stay already. The property is finished to a high standard and we loved the on ceiling heating. This is my second stay at the property and it was a really homey place. The host was very responsive and since i was arriving after it got dark had even left the lights on which i really appreciated. Would definitely recommend staying at this property- nothing bad to say about it at all

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful home. Everything was spotless , beautifully decorated the photos do not do it justice. The space was warm and inviting. The location was perfect for us to visit family, it was quiet and peaceful yet close enough to everything we needed. We would certainly stay here again

The house was exceptionally well prepared for our arrival and the description and photographs were accurate. The location is great, close to the beach and easy to get to both Sunderland and Newcastle. Having a super market close by is also a plus. Off street parking was always available and I could definitely recommend this property, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We felt right at home the minute we stepped through the door! Emilyn House is a gorgeous space, converting us to open plan living enthusiasts, with the garden being the main event, simply stunning! From clean fresh linen and ambient lighting to spacious, modern bathrooms and an inviting kitchen/family room - this house has it all! We were genuinely sad to leave!

We wanted a location near to family who live in the area, and the coast, especially the beaches of Seaburn, Marsden and South Shields. This property was perfect for this, and all the above beaches could be reached either by walking, local transport or a short car journey. The property is in a quite, peaceful street with plenty of free parking. It is decorated to a high standard. It was light, bright and clean throughout. It had a beach house feel. The garden was lovely and well maintained. The bedding and towels provided were spotless. The little extras provided such as coffee, milk, tea and dog bowls (and dog treats!) all added to the stay. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend the property.

We had a wonderful stay at Emilyn House in Whitburn. Beautiful well equiped spaceous house, so clean and tidy. The garden was perfect for relaxation and sunbathing. The house is in a peaceful Street and was good for restoring energi. The Coop was close, and made the food shopping easy. Lovely atmosphere in Whitburn and is was a nice exercise to walk to Seaburn all along the beautiful seafront. We definately would love to revisit the house and Whitburn.

Felt at home from the first moment we arrived, the little garden is a lovely little sun trap and we had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, it was spotlessly clean and they have been so helpful as I forgot my charger! Would definitely stay again.

A magnificent stay, apart from 1 thing. The village of Whitburn, Whitburn Bents, & the costal path that stretched for miles was a surprising find. It is stunning. The mainly dog friendly beach stretches all the way to Roker. Either walking the sands or the promenade was blissful. The area where Whitburn Collery once was is now a nature reserve. All worth exploring. Emilyn House sits in the middle of it all. Easy to walk to Latimer's Seafood - a must visit & The Bay for fish and chips. The house was as described. Plenty of space to spread out in the 2 sitting rooms & kitchen. Well fitted out. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. What was disappointing was the lack of some req items. For example, 2 dish washer tablets & 2 rubbish sacks were not enough for a family of 4 for 4 days. There was 1 tea towel and 1 J Cloth. This was insufficient, and for the cost of the stay, felt stingy for no reason. Similarly with toilet rolls, there just wasn't enough. We had to buy some. But worth a stay there.

We were so happy and grateful to find this gem at short notice. Five of us had travelled a long way for a special family birthday but when we arrived at the property we had booked through another platform (ie not Airbnb) we took one look and walked back out - it was horrible! Thankfully Airbnb and our host came to our rescue. This is a delightful property that was a real pleasure to stay in. It's clear that the hosts have gone to a great deal of thought and effort in making the place truly welcoming. There is plenty of room and all the fixtures and fittings are to a high standard. Next time we are in the area we will definitely try to book this property again.

We loved our stay at the "Emilyn house" very much. Everything was well cared for. Made up beds and towels (1 large and 1 small). And the most important thing is that it all looked fresh and clean. There is also the possibility to park the car in the back of the garden through a gate on the side of the garden. But the car can also be parked next to or in front of the house. The supermarket (Coop) in Whitburn is within walking distance and the coast is also within walking distance. For more shops and activities, the adjacent Sunderland has plenty to offer. And also the Coast Route with a number of castles heading north is definitely recommended. As an eatery we can recommend the restaurant "Mamma Mia" in Whitburn and at Red Box Cake you can buy tasty sweets.

Such a lovely place to stay with a group of friends or family. We had a lovely time and enjoyed everything around the place as well as the place. Very clean and well equipped. I only wish the communication would’ve been a bit better ! We only knew how to check in after I asked for instructions and they did not give me any response on checking in earlier but I understand it might have not been their fault. Thanks for your hospitality we had a great time!

I felt at home from the very first day, everything was absolutely as claimed, loved the two sitting areas for different parts of the day. Master bath is a good size, easy to use, and Underfloor heating was a really nice feature. Bed was very clean and comfortable and I would definitely recommend this apartment. Whitburn is a lovely village and within a very easy stroll.

The property was extremely clean and well equipped, and large enough to accommodate a group of 6 adults comfortably. Heating via ceiling panels was effective. The location was quiet and on-street parking available. The bunk beds creaked, and this creaking was loud enough in the downstairs double bedroom beneath to cause some sleep disturbance. The property is run by a business who could not accommodate a slightly later checkout on request.

A very well equipped property that was high spec throughout. We have local knowledge of the area and so we didn’t ask for things to do from the host, but they were so informative about everything else, I’m sure recommendations would have been excellent if we had needed to ask. Very modern layout in the house. We went with our 3 year old son and with my in laws and the house catered for us all. Very easy to find and even though the map may look like it is not near any beaches or attractions, it is a maximum of 15 minutes to South Shields and less than 5 minutes to Seaburn/Roker. Parking was never an issue on the street and there was never any noise to affect us during our stay. The property is extremely clean and room sizes are very generous. We will definitely return to this property (probably several times over).

Dale’s place is a treasure. This beautiful house behind an unassuming facade has gorgeous living spaces, a private back garden and everything we needed for a perfect family get together, dog included. The place is cosy and modern at the same time. Beautiful skylights in the kitchen/family room made it light even on dark winter days. The surroundings are exceptional and we enjoyed long walks along the coast path, beaches and Cleadon Hills. Enjoyed a fantastic seafood platter from Latimer’s on Christmas Eve - and don’t miss fish and chips at Colman’s in South Shields. We will be back!

We had a lovely stay, very clean, bright and spacious, comfy beds, great bathrooms and showers, well equipped kitchen and just a comfortable house we all felt at home in. Our dogs especially liked having the outdoor space and we're looking forward to coming back in the spring and summer months. A second set of keys would've been good though as we are 2 couples and occasionally do different things during the stay.

A beautiful family home with everything you need. We were a party of 5; 3 adults, 2 children aged 6 and 3 and they all loved the place. Lots of space and set in a great location, close to some amazing beaches. The Seaburn and Roker area was new to us but we will be back. Great garden for the kids to play in and plenty of space in the house for relaxing. A great house for our family holiday.

The house as a whole was good, it was only after it was booked that there was a £25 deposit, and the vacuum cleaner and cleaner were not home after entering the house, scattered on the ground, slightly disappointing, the rest was perfect.

I recently stayed at Emilyn's house in Whitburn for 5 days with my elderly mother and teenage children. The house is newly refurbished and in excellent condition. Everything was fresh and clean. The lovely back garden provided a great space for hanging out. With two separate sofa/TV areas, the house offered plenty of room to relax without feeling crowded. Emilyn house has easy parking right outside the property. We are not English, so for us Whitburn is off the beaten path of tourism. We found that it offers a charming taste of village life, and the beaches of Seaburn and Roker are within easy walking distance. We also enjoyed taking walks along the breathtakingly beautiful coastal paths between South Shields and Sunderland. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I do recommend it!

I thoroughly recommend Emilyn House for couples and families. The area is great for walkers who love coastal paths, triathletes who like a safe place to train, historians and those who like good food and sandy beaches. The hosts were so very helpful and their beautiful cottage was clean, comfortable and peaceful. Highly recommended and thank you Ian and Marian.
