Holy Island is glorious and Eden Cottage is perfectly situated. We’ve stayed before and notice the decline. It’s a beautiful little space but in need of some love and investment.

We loved our stay at Eden cottage. We go back to Holy Island every year and love our times there. This is a very cute and private cottage. Is needs a few things sorted but all in all it’s a very nice place to stay compared to many of the houses we’ve stayed at over the years.

Eden cottage is the perfect location for a peaceful holy island stay. The outside space is lovely for enjoying the sunshine and the cottage is well equipped. We loved being so close to the beach for a stroll and Pilgrims for great coffee and ice cream. Sadly, the property was not clean on our arrival. The beds and linen were clean and very comfortable however, the bathrooms were dirty and could do with some attention. I did contact host and stay about the cleanliness and they offered to send a cleaner, however with less than 24 hours left of our two night stay, it seemed pointless. We loved the location of the property but it definitely lacked the personal touch we are accustomed to when staying in AirBnbs. With a good, thorough clean I could recommend the cottage as a great holy island base.

Great house and wonderful location on Holy Island. Cleaning team were wonderful with helping us. I did wonder whether the responses I received were bot or generically generated because the information. provided to me about the information/ heritage centre was factually incorrect. A radio in the kitchen would've been a nice touch.

We were a family of four who enjoyed a lovely three-day stay. The location was fantastic, and the cabin was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was narrow, but we managed by moving the table against the wall. Upon arrival, we discovered a significant number of spiders, estimated between 50 and 100, that we had to remove ourselves. There were also cobwebs in several corners. We contacted the host, who responded quickly and was very accommodating. They arranged for an extra cleaning the next day. However, it seemed their focus remained on the floors, not the spider issue. We wanted to use the fireplace but couldn’t find any matches. There was also no laundry detergent, which was disappointing after a week in Scotland. Toilet paper was limited too, though that could probably have been resolved with another message to the host. A big plus was the available first aid kit, it actually came in handy when I cut myself on a shell along the Pilgrims’ Way Causeway Footpath.

We had a great few days at Eden Cottage on Holy Island. Walked around the island in glorious sunshine (!) and saw lots of wildlife including ringed plover, heron, various other waders, seals and deer. Cottage is in a fantastic location really close to pubs and gift shops.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful peaceful location. No chest of drawers in the main bedroom and very little storage in the kitchen and only a small freezer (in the fridge)

A pretty cottage but our whole stay was marred as there was no wifi connection. although it stated in our welcome pack there would be. This took up endless time contacting the office to try and sort this problem which we ultimately could not achieve leaving us all very frustrated. We had saved up for this birthday treat for a long time..very disappointed.

A girlie weekend in a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The weather was also amazing, which added to our weekend. Lovely little garden for alfresco dining, very private. Cottage looking tired in some areas. Furnishings very good, overall an excellent stay. Would love to return next year.

Lovely little cottage. The downstairs shower room was a but run down. The kitchen was lovely and very well equipped . Fantastic location. The overhead beams upstairs are very low. I hit my head multiple times and only 5ft, beware if tall.

We spent a glorious week in the very appropriately named Eden Cottage in Paradise Row- it couldn't have been more perfect. Communications were fantastic and the cottage was so cosy with everything you could possibly need, local pubs with fab food and the most amazing scenery and night skies. We'd come for a bit of a retreat and both the island and the cottage were just what we needed. This is a very special place, Thank you... we'd definitely love to come back

This is a beautiful cottage which is an ideal size for a family of 4. The location on Lindisfarne is great, although it’s a bit hard to find. It would be helpful if the instructions told you that it is at the end of a row of cottages, accessed via the gardens of the other houses. The beds are very comfortable and it was great that logs for the fire were provided, this was much appreciated. However, the cottage was let down by the cleanliness. The kitchen in particular was not as clean as I would expect, dirty cupboards and grimy bin for example and there was a lot of dust on ornaments and surfaces. I was also not keen on the AI messages from the management company, I found the messages too frequent and not helpful when I actually needed some information. Having said that, this is a lovely cottage in a great location and I would stay again if the cleaning was improved.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times. Great little cosy cottage right in the centre of the village. Well equipped. Only slight criticism was that one of the showers was too hot and it was impossible to turn it down. Also some of the cushions in the living room were dirty. I’ve fed back to the hosts and they’ve agreed to sort these issues. Would still stay again.

Place is really great. The numerous automated emails from Host and Stay make them impersonal though. They asked for the extra compulsory insurance several times after we actually took it, and e-mails were very bot-type.

The cottage is lovely. Great location. Nice furniture . However, the property was really let down by very poor cleanliness and some inaccuracy in the description. There is neither a dryer nor a garage (a garden outbuilding is not a garage). There was used gum in the bedside drawers, dust and spiders everywhere, grimy hard floors and blocked drains. The host management company did nothing to properly engage with the cleaning issues or reimburse me for the drain products I bought and merely thanked me for my efforts to clean.

A lovely private location yet right in the centre of the village. Lovely interior and facilities. Great walk to Lindisfarne Priory, Castle etc. NB beams in main bedroom are quite low. Not an issue for me as I’m short (5’4”) but you have to remember to duck! A lovely stay

Lovely well-equipped cottage, in a great location with easy access to pubs, shops and attractions. The cottage was clean with all facilities, central heating and a fire. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived. The location was quiet and peaceful (autumn time.) As 4 adults bringing their own food, we struggled for space in the small fridge, which only had a small freezer box. Also, the on-suite shower was very narrow and the adjoining sink was of no use , other than hand washing, as it was too small in width. However, we had a lovely relaxing stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful small cottage located in the heart of the village. Felt very romantic and cosy. Exactly what we were looking for as a family this autumn. Very comfortable and had a good rest. I Didn’t mind the low ceilings but my husband did 🤣 , something that can easily be negotiated if you’re aware. Loved all the local art, books and games provided… It is a lovely space and perfect for coming back to after a day of exploring. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you x

Eden Cottage is a beautiful, well designed and well maintained property situated in a quiet row (Paradise Row!) in the centre of the village. The only drawback is that the exposed roof joists in both bedrooms are just at the right height for the average person to sustain daily concussions if you are not alert. My other criticism is Host & Stay's requirement of additional insurance which is both onerous (forms, cost, failed links) and unnecessary as AirBB has its own policy coverage.

This is a charming property on a beautiful and natural island. The two of us had a great time exploring and being able to come back to a comfortable house to rest was very pleasant.

This is a comfortable and well-appointed cottage. The sheltered garden with good furniture is almost an extra room. The kitchen is very good with a scrubbed wood table and comfortable chairs. It is well enough equipped that one could cook almost anything in it. The sitting room is comfortable but rather lacking natural light, the sofas and chairs over-provided with large cushions. The bedrooms are comfortable, but up a steep stair and with limited headroom and projecting beams under the roof slope. That could be a significant problem to the stiff and elderly or the very tall; we managed with a occasional knock. The en-suite is very small. The shelf over the small basin makes it difficult to shave or clean one’s teeth. The downstairs wet-room though is very good and comfortable.

There were three of us,two adults and a twelve year old. We enjoyed the visit and the location and cottage. There were snags including finding the precise location and it would have helped if instead of a not very useful post code a simple description such as its proximity to the National Trust site had been used. Also it was not clear until arriving that the second bedroom was a challenging place for a full grown adult. Low roof beams and a very cramped en-suite facility was a problem. The quality of the furniture and fittings, kitchen dining room and delightful garden area, a true sun trap, made amends. Finally there was initially some confusion about car parking regulations but it didn’t seem to matter; clarity in the description would have helped. All in all a superb few days away in a unique setting.

Bamburgh and Berwick a stones throw away if you want to be occupied or perfect place to chill if you just want a relaxing break.

Absolutely gorgeous stay on the beautiful picturesque island that is Holy Island, we all wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage has been designed and decorated to an incredibly high standard and after a nice chilly walk round the island the light fire was the perfect thing to come back to.

We had a lovely stay in the well-situated, well-equipped cottage. The bedrooms were a good size and very comfortable. As the weather had become a bit cooler, the fire was pleasant to hunker down to in the evening. Although we spent most of our time exploring the features of the island, we were only a two minute walk to the small variety of shops.

Eden Cottage is a lovely place to stay on the beautiful Holy Island of Lindisfarne. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge is cosy and inviting. The cottage is centrally heated and this works really well; there is a wood burning stove available for use in the lounge, but you might only use this for the psychologically heart-warming effect of seeing a real fire. The two bedrooms are comfortably furnished, although, care is needed to avoid banging your head on the low sloping ceiling timbers. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in the larger bedroom, because the blind was broken and the sloping window looked out (from bed height) to the bedroom windows of the houses opposite. However, the snug ensuite was used, as well as, the large family bathroom with “wet-room” shower downstairs. We assume that Eden Cottage has not been available for rent for too long as we did experience some “teething problems” on arrival (see comment about the bedroom blind above). The fitted cabinet door of the dishwasher was not in situ; we did not use the dishwasher, but assumed that this was still working. Disappointingly, the fridge was not clean, with spilled milk in the trays, a brown splodge stuck on the back of the fridge and a dollop of pink sauce on the shelf, clearly it needed to be cleaned before being used. We also found that the cutlery, plates, bowls and many of the pans were smeared and some were greasy, so we did have to spend time at the start of our break washing up and generally cleaning the kitchen. Looking at the Covid protocols that were available in the guest file, we do not believe that these were being followed as the kitchen appliances looked grubby and cabinet door handles were sticky. Not a great start to the holiday, but thank you Host and Stay, we did receive a message stating that the £60 cleaning fee will be returned to us. Having stayed at other Airbnb cottages, this was the first Airbnb accommodation that did not offer a “welcome pack” i.e., milk, bread, butter, however, tea bags, instant coffee and sugar were available plus a coffee machine (but sadly no coffee pods for the machine). While in most places welcome packs are a bit of a luxury, on Holy Island this is, we think, a necessity; access to shops where you can buy provisions is not readily available. We found out that the Post Office do sell a few items, but this is very limited and don’t forget that trips to the shops on the main land are dictated by the tides. Some Airbnb guests might want to leave cooking behind for a week or two, but this is really not a practical option on Holy Island; there are places to eat, but these are limited. Again, there was no helpful list provided of just what is available locally on or off the island. On arrival, we found and then reported, an electrical fault with one of the light switches, we did feel a little taken for granted to receive a text from Host and Stay telling us that an electrician would be coming to the property, at a certain time on the day before we left and for us to leave the key if we were going out. On the face of it this may seem a reasonable request, but we knew that we would be out at the time suggested and did not feel comfortable with people we did not know having access to the cottage which was full of all our belongings. It would have been better to have had a phone call to ask when it might be possible for the electrician to come, while we were in earlier in our stay. Before we arrived, we asked Host and Stay about parking and were told that there was no need for a permit and to park where there was a space. Over the week we noticed that nearly every other parked car in the village was displaying a permit. Again, clear information about what is required for parking is needed. Finally, this does read like a long list of issues, but we need to say that we did really enjoy our week in Eden Cottage and would be happy to recommend it to others on the assumption that the issues that we have raised will be addressed. Thank you to the Host and Stay staff who were both courteous and helpful.

We just loved our stay here. The cottage was clean and tastefully laid out. The location was peaceful and Lindisfarne is such a beautiful island to explore. We had an absolutely lovely time here. The communications with the host were superb and they offered communication at any point. All in all I can strongly recommend this is as a lovely little place to get away. We were four adults and found it great. You have to park on the street and this is only a small walk away and we never had any problem. There is so much to do on the island particularly if you're looking for peace, history, wildlife, and lovely walks to get some time away in a beautiful and rather uplifting environment.

Absolutely fabulous cottage. Will try to review things others haven’t already. Beds, super comfortable, pillows and bedding clean and fresh smelling Towels fluffy and brilliant white. Immaculately clean and everything seemed brand new. Kitchen has everything from an array of cookware, pots and pans, decent knives. If you like cooking you’ll be able to with ease. Even had essential condiments, cleaning stuff (fairy liquid, multi surface cleaner, cloths etc) and kitchen roll etc etc Cafetière, Krups and nespresso machines. Added bonus was the kitchen Alexa with access to Amazon music 🙂 Lounge was stunning although we spent most of our time outdoors. Shame it was too warm so we didn’t get to light the log burner. Would recommend you book in advance if you want to eat at any of the 3 food places at night. We arrived Friday and they said they didn’t have tables until the Tuesday!!! Luckily we had brought meals to cook but we did drink in all 3. I’d recommend the Manor House Hotel for spacious feel and view and the Ship for traditional pub feel. Host and Stay were extremely helpful when we locked ourselves out. A spare key arrived by the time we had drunk a pint in the pub Definitely recommend

Most visitors are on Holy Island as a day trip, but to stay on the island feels like you have the place to yourself for sunset walks. Eden Cottage is absolutely stunning and worth the price. The garden area outside the front door is lovely and sunny with a mature garden and plenty of birds. The location of the cottage is only a few minutes stroll to the Abbey or to the castle. On street parking wasn't a problem but you do need to be considerate. I would highly recommend staying at this property.
