This is a really nice apartment, tastefully appointed, with a good layout and a comfortable bed. The location is great for exploring Whitby. Lovely cafes and breakfast places very close by on Skinner Street. The Beer O' Clock next door is worth a visit - great little micro-brewery - very relaxing and refreshing if you have been walking part of The Cleveland Way! The apartment is close to the railway station and bus station.
The parking is a problem if you have a car, but that is the case for most of Whitby. Pack light and eat out - there are a lot of steps to carry your bags up and it is not always possible to park close to the place. The apartment is lovely, but it is perhaps a bit too minimally kitted out. OK for a short stay. There is street noise so not great if you are a light sleeper. A blind over the back door would be a nice addition.

Convenient for the centre. Well equipped. Ticked all the boxes.
There was only one wine glass for 2 people. More cutlery needed to utilise dishwasher to good effect.

myself, my wife and our fur baby absolutely loved it here. The location was central but not right in the busyness of it all so incredibly peaceful. Our fur baby was settled the whole duration of our stay, the accommodation is a short walk to the sea front. No doubt we'll return in the future.

The apartment was very modern, clean, with a comfortable bed and well equipped.
The centre of Whitby is busy so plan ahead for parking as there's not much parking nearby.
If you're a light sleeper or not used to busy areas, take ear plugs with you to help take the edge off it.
Don't let this put you off as it's a really nice place, we certainly will be returning!

Excellent location. Tucked away but close to all the amenities.
Well appointed and comfortable.
Sofa and chair could be a little more comfortable. Maybe an additional footstool.. However I'm being really picky here as I like to stretch out watching TV;).

Good, central location. Check in was easy.
Would have liked the apartment to be cleaner as there was hair on the carpets and some of the dishes in the kitchen cupboards were not clean. The shower also didn’t work very well and only let out a few trickles of water so it was difficult to wash my hair with such low water pressure.

We loved the location and the apartment was spacious, comfy and very clean. The big windows let in so much light and made it feel quite luxurious and we also loved the outside space.
The check out time of 10am felt very early and considering we could not check in until 4pm (we were offered an early check in at an additional cost but didn’t need it on this occasion) felt a big turnaround time that could have been pushed to 11am at least. It also would have been helpful if dishwasher tablets were included as if they were they weren’t readily locatable and would have helped to keep the apartment clean and get more use of the kitchen.

I absolutely love this place! I've stayed in Whitby many times and this is up there as one of my favourite places! It was just like the photos, spotless, the heating system was really impressive and kept the place lovely and toasty! The bathroom was spotless and really modern and the bed was really comfortable! Felt super nice and private being away from the road and was the absolute perfect size for myself and my partner and our dog! Surroundings were super quiet at nice which was amazing, but so close to the harbour and the beach!
Would 100% stay again!!

This is the second time we have stayed here and hope to book again in the future. The accommodation is stylish as described , warm and comfortable. It is the perfect size for 2 adults and our dogs. The location is central and easy access and due to the set back position it is also private and quiet. Highly recommend this property.

Our stay was like the gift that kept on giving but for all of the wrong reasons.
I am aware it is a pet friendly accommodation and have stayed in a number before but you would think a family of wooly mammoths had taken residence there. The cleanliness was inadequate from the bed that was COVERED in pet hair (both inside and out), the kitchen was dirty (hairs in microwave, fridge on top of grime), sanitary toilet bin was not emptied and there was urine and feace stains on toilet.
Upon ringing stating I wanted a refund and did not feel comfortable staying, they did offer cleaners to come in. The cleaners were shocked but only cleaned the areas brought up and not the whole apartment. When they left, there were further discoveries. They offered for us to stay in another one of their apartments but the reviews slated cleanliness there. On top of this, the heating or shower was not working properly. Communication was very slow. It's a real shame as it is in a great location.

The flat is dog friendly and in an excellent location. It's right in the heart of town, very close to the beach, West Cliff, Whitby Abbey, and everywhere you might want to visit. It's directly next door to an excellent pub, with a great selection of beers, including gluten free and vegan options, but we were never bothered by any noise.
Just up the road is The Cranberry Swamp where you can get an excellent breakfast and the whole menu can be made gluten free (I'm coeliac so this was much appreciated). If you head down the road there's another brilliant pub, The Esk Vaults, and also The Greedy Pig where my husband enjoyed a very tasty and reasonably priced pork roll with stuffing and apple sauce.
If you want fish and chips you're spoilt for options in Whitby but the property is close to Trenchers and although you'll probably have to queue my husband assures me it's worth the wait.
The flat is in a Disc Zone so parking is only allowed for an hour outside between 9am and 7pm but there are plenty of nearby on street parking options for free, and an hour is enough for loading and unloading the car. November to March there are hundreds of free parking spots on the West Cliff too.
The property isn't terribly well equipped. There's only one small saucepan and a large frying pan. No whisk. Some of the crockery was chipped. They only supply one towel per person so extras are definitely needed. There was damage to the walls, although this is aesthetic only. The property was filthy and hadn't been cleaned. I'm not being overly picky or critical here - the property was genuinely disgustingly dirty and I have 30+ pictures documenting this. The skirting boards were dusty, door frames dirty, it hadn't been hoovered and there was a thick build up of dog hair along the edge of the carpets. There were cobwebs throughout, the crockery was stained and some had dried food on it from previous guests. There was what appeared to be dried blood on the wall, and stains on the carpet. Then we get to the bathroom - dusty, limescale on the taps and in the toilet, a cup/toothbrush holder that was not only chipped but also full of brown water, and toothpaste stains down the sides of the wash basin cabinet. Then the pièce de résistance was the shower, which was absolutely thick with black mould. The tiles, grout, and shower heads were covered in it. This clearly hadn't been cleaned or addressed for some time. There is inadequate ventilation in the bathroom which is obviously the cause, but if the place was cleaned regularly it would never have gotten into this state. Half the shower nozzles didn't work due to being blocked with either mould or limescale. Fortunately for the next guests we bought mould remover and other cleaning supplies and tackled this ourselves. It was relatively mould free when we left.
We agreed to vacate the property the first day of our stay so they could re-clean, but nothing was touched. They promised us a £50 refund of the cleaning fee but failed to refund and stopped answering emails. Have had to open a dispute with my bank so have lowered their score. Avoid.

The location, cleanliness, overall facilities (the apartment lacked for nothing) and the size of the apartment were all excellent. A cool little hideaway in the middle of the town.
Bedroom needs blackout curtains to mask lights from the street. A parking pass would be helpful.

The whole booking and arrival experience was great the flat is amazing. Ive stayed in over 10 different lets in Whitby and this is up there with the best
It would be easier for guests to get the keys nearer the door rather than on the wall outside the alleyway .

Modern apartment in a brilliant location. Responsive host with plenty of information & instructions shared ahead of our stay.
4 stars due to not being fully cleaned (dusty skirting boards and musty smell) but that's our only criticism.

The location was good , right near the center , shopping and pubs were very good and convenient, parking was OK but was not with the flat and had to pay £6.70 per day so over £40 for the 6 days but it was only a short walk away , a consideration for future bookings . The apartment was well appointed, clean and modern and had all the basics covered
The number on the entrance door was 12A which caused some confusion we were looking for a 12 and we found the combination on the key safe difficult to use , I tried to ring the helpline provided at least 3 times in office hours but there was no answer and no ring back we gave up with that and managed to get the key safe open eventually. The dishwasher was out of action for the duration of the stay

Lovely quiet place to stay, it is the perfect size for 2 people. Only disappointed was the fact we had to buy our own kitchen appliances such as mixing bowl, oven dish, potato masher etc. For 2 people staying 4 nights we had one full toilet roll for our stay which isn’t an issue but would have expected to not have to buy our own things when we have paid! Overall lovely place and a great location just a shame there wasn’t many kitchen appliances.

The staff that. Run the apartment, were as helpfully as a chocolate fire guard. Upon arrival. I'd still not been sent my check-in instructions after numerous calls. I finally got through to a very unhelpful person to find out I had to pay either a £150 damages fee, which would take a min of 14 days to be refunded or a £20 damages fee which is non refundable.
I find this an utter rip-off that you have to pay this before you can actually have the key code after already paying the fee to book. In doing all this, it lost me a lot of time, but we had no choice & that was that I thought
We received the check-in instructions & tried to open the key safe. At the time, it was raining & we couldn't open it for 40 minutes. we tried for & numerous calls again, trying to get through to someone for help, to finally be told they had sent the wrong check-in instructions again, losing further time, we finally opened the correct key safe and entered the property to find the bed not made
Ripped bottom sheet hanging off & a quilt that I'd not put a dog in so again after around another 8 calls (and me by this time getting very frustrated) they told us they would send house keeping around to rectify the issue but for them to come we would have to leave & place the keys back in the key safe which I wasn't prepared to do & why should I when I've paid twice to be there so we decided to wait for House keeping & again in doing so lost even more time of a 1 night stay
All in all, 3 & a half hours lost of a 1 night stay, we asked for a late check out, but where told that housekeeping are there at 10 am to clean & then ignored
The road is so busy on a morning & the windows let so much noise through its impossible to sleep & we were up from 6 30 am
I left there feeling much worse than when I arrived
Would I stay again? Certainly, not as I dnt feel they care about their clients, just the extra cash they can get out of you.

The apartment itself was lovely, the location was good.
The facilities are not so good. There was no mattress protector on the bed, just the sheet next to the mattress, which is not great when you think of the number of people that have slept on it, plus not great from a hygiene point. I emailed Host & Stay and asked if they could provide one. They replied, stating they would contact their housekeeping and get back to me. They never did, so I went and bought one which I should not have had to. There were only 2 drinking mugs, so again, I bought some and 3 desert spoons. No hand towels, again I contacted Host & Stay and again not acted on, well there was one in the bathroom which looked dirty so we did not use it. I think the company needs to look at their housekeeping.

My boyfriend and I travelled 4 hours to get to Whitby and awaited the code for the lock box to check in- as we arrived a little early to have a wander. An hour had passed after our check in time and we decided to give them a call. We were then told by a robot that there were no agents available so we left a message; after another hour we finally got a call. Long story short, we were told that there were already guests- who had booked via an alternative booking site, staying inside the apartment and they could do nothing else for us. With no where to stay for the night and unsure if we’d even find a place, thankfully a lovely lady from a nearby hotel was able to squeeze us in and saved an almost ruined holiday. The support we received from the company that runs the apartment had extremely poor communications- as even the Airbnb support team couldn’t get hold of them, and they showed no empathy towards our situation whatsoever. Our advice is stay far away from the Host and Stay company.

The apartment was lovely and spacious, modern and clean couldn't fault it. Was on doorstep to cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again 😁👍🏻
Just a few snags like no hooks on the doors or hallway to hang, jackets towels in the bathroom. Maybe a bigger clothes rack with height. And a few more mugs. Just little bits which would help for further guests. Nothing major other than that very nice regards Sharron berry

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Whitby, the apartment was absolutely beautiful and is dog friendly too!
Perfect location! Everything was right on your door step, just a 2 minute walk to the harbour & 5/10 mins walk to the beach. Plenty of nice little shops and restaurants (we had an amazing meal at a restaurant called “The Vault” which is only round the corner) there’s also a Poundland just across the road too which was really handy!
Cliff street car park is also just across the road so didn’t struggle for parking or carrying our luggage too far.
The host was extremely helpful and friendly, answered any of our questions really quickly! Easy check in with a key code & lockbox, very clear instructions on where the apartment is too as it could be easily missed if you didn’t have good instructions.
If you’re looking to stay in Whitby this is where you want to be! I can’t recommend driftwood apartment enough :) Thankyou so much!!

There are no curtains in the bedroom, just Venetian blinds which do not block out the light. Directly outside the bedroom on the street are hung festoons which lit up the room throughout the night. Sadly we had a very bad nights sleep because of it. I’d recommend bringing eye masks for future stays and ear plugs as the street is a little noisy. We were gutted as the room was lovely and the bed very comfortable.
Outside there is a private deck but this wasn’t useable for us as it was covered in bird poo.
I think overall we’d love to come back but a few tweaks need to be made for guests comfort.
Deck mustn’t have been cleaned for a long time- perhaps add this to the cleaning rota when changing rooms ready for guests.
Curtains needed on the rooms front door as I felt rather exposed in my towel walking past it.
Curtains needed in the bedroom as mentioned above.
A hook on the bathroom door would be great for hanging used clothes when showering. I didn’t want to get clothes wet on the floor.

Apartment was absolutely spotless. Had everything we needed and more! Bathroom was clean and all worked perfectly. Living room was comfortable as was the bed. Location was perfect, 2 minutes from the front and lots of cafes, pubs and shops near by. Can't wait to go back!

Stylish accomodation finished to a high standard. Very clean, comfortable and warm. We were very surprised at the quality as it is a dog friendly apartment as sometimes dog friendly accomodation can be less high end. Located in a very secure and quiet area whilst at the same time very central to all amenities. I would highly recommend this apartment and hope to re-book here again.

Lovely little apartment, will definitely be visiting again in summer and will try to get this cute place again! Exactly as stated in the listing so was lovely. Only thing to comment on is with it being January we presumed that the heating may have been put on before our arrival however it wasn’t which was a tad disappointing. But nothing else at all comes to mind other than a beautiful little get away!

Great location near to everything. Everything brand new. Beds really comfy and lovely bedding. Well equipped. Very modern. Would definitely stay here again, can't wait to come back.
Just a couple of minor things. Although the settee was beautiful and modern it wasn't very comfy to snuggle on after a lovely walk round Whitby. Also a bigger door mat needed as we didn't have good weather and trying to manage getting our shoes off with a wet dog without standing on the new cream carpets was a bit difficult.
