The house and location were great. Really great quality kitchen ware, bathroom lovely, etc.
Map location inaccurate and directions should say that house is behind other houses and hard to see from road. It was pure fluke we found it, but after driving up and down road for 15 mins.
Would be useful to have instructions for tv, heating etc rather than having to guess.
Dishwasher didn’t work - hope it’s been fixed for next guests.
3rd bedroom staircase extremely steep. Luckily for us, we didn’t need to use it, but it is so steep, I would say unsafe.
Overall, we loved the house, gorgeous garden and location. Just a few things to address to make it easier experience.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Colcott Cottage and it truly exceeded all our expectations. Nestled in a stunning rural location, the cottage offers the perfect balance of peace and privacy while still being within easy reach of Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby — both just a short, scenic drive away.
From the moment we arrived, we were completely wowed by the garden. It’s absolutely breathtaking — so spacious, thoughtfully designed, and beautifully maintained, with several different seating areas to enjoy the sun, the views, or a quiet moment with a book. It truly felt like our own little slice of paradise.
The cottage itself is just as enchanting. It’s pretty and cosy with such charm, and it’s clear that so much care and attention has gone into making it feel like a home. Every little detail has been thought of — it’s incredibly well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Staying here was an absolute joy from start to finish. We

Great location, very quiet, amazing garden.

Very comfortable and has the potential to be a 10/10 property.

Really not very clean. I had to hoover masses of cobwebs from all over the property including the stone walls in the kitchen. Only able to do this after unblocking hoover.

Dishwasher broken and could not be used at all. Owners seemingly refused to fix it during our entire stay.

Broken lock to utility room meaning we couldn’t access vital facilities. Reported as soon as we got there, only able to resolve (but still broken) after 24 hours of a weekend trip and after much chasing.
