This is a gorgeous house with a nice cottage feel. it was comfortable, warm and well stocked with books for adults and kids. The decor is really nice and it's up a quiet street. There are plenty of independent and different places to eat within a short walking distance. Just be mindful that parking is very limited, so as we didn't arrive to check in until 9:30pm on a Friday, there were no permit parking spaces available at all. Luckily, I found a free parking space several streets away. Therefore, I'd recommend using bags with wheels. Additionally, the curtains are very thin, so it would be a good idea to bring travel black out window covers with you. There's a washing machine and small dishwasher, which is helpful, and we all found the beds comfortable to sleep in.

Lovely little place , full of character , and well presented . Good location in the center of everything . One thing I would advise when parking up near property , you have to manuvore carefully , but this is just due to the old narrow little lanes and obviously out of control of the owners . So it’s just a word of advise . But had a lovely stay , and it was very dog friendly . Thank you .

The house was fantastic. Clean and beautiful and in a great location. My only complaint was that when we tried to book on for an extra night I was quoted £61.99 plus taxes which I thought was very reasonable. We agreed to go ahead with this and I waited for an email that never came. After messaging the host 3 times I got a response saying that unfortunately, someone else had booked the house and we were unable to stay. Fair enough, I thought, and my group began to pack up ready for the early check out the next day. I then got a follow up email at 2am (when we were checking out at 10am and obviously asleep) saying the house was available but at the inflated price of £110. This didn’t sit right with me and we checked out at the original time. A few times it felt like I was talking to an AI chatbot when messaging the host. All in, I would stay again, the house is fantastic and in a good location but be sure to book the desired number of nights.

The house is in a perfect location and walkable to the lovely streets of Whitby and me and my family mostly really enjoyed the stay, the beds were comfy and we loved the kitchen and dining room. There were a couple of things which were a bit of a let down though there are log burners but no supplies to actually use them, the toaster didn’t work, the oven trays were old/dirty, Sky TV is advertised but it is essentially just free view as just the basic channels are available and whilst we weren’t there just to watch TV, it rained badly for a portion of our trip and think this is slightly outdated as there isn’t much selection. Overall we did really enjoy the stay.

Difficult to rate this one. Perfect location. Quiet. Clean. But unfortunately managed by a company who didn’t sort the problems. It was freezing (10°) and didn’t warm up. Luke warm shower. Some essential utensils in kitchen missing. Despite contacting the agency it didn’t get sorted for the first day and we slept in our bathrobes and jackets as it was so cold. Once the owner was contacted the next day it got sorted then. Fresh flowers. Comfortable beds. Nice and quiet place. Easy walking distance to the town centre. Without the heating issues we would have given 5 stars

Lovely location and great house to stay in. Felt very at some straight away. Lovely art in the house. I tracked it down and bought some! May not be suitable for those with mobility issues, but was great for us!

We love Whitby and this place is very close to the town center so easy to get to the restaurants and shops. The third bedroom has a single bed and is up steep stairs so would not be suitable for an older person or a young child. We used the two doubles and the beds were very comfortable. You have to pull up outside the back of the property to unload the car, but need to get the key from the front of the property beforehand.

Couldn’t fault this accommodation. We had a great break. The house was in a great location, 5 minute walk to the Main Street and 5 minute walk to the beach. There was milk, tea and coffee at the house on our arrival which was greatly appreciated. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. It was perfect for my husband and I, daughter and her husband and two grandchildren. There were even some children’s books to read at bedtime, a mixture for all ages.

Great place! Everything was very streamlined, parking was easy, the accommodation itself was lovely. Only recommendation is black-out curtains, but I suppose that's a personal preference.

Excellent location, super clean and easy to check in and out. Clear instructions for the things we needed. Little touches made a huge difference, tea towels, fresh milk and biscuits and everything you need to get comfortable after a long journey were provided. Parking wasn’t an issue, we always found a space somewhere in the zone, even in the school holidays. Top tip, take slippers or sliders if going in the winter to keep toes warm on the natural wooden floors and tiled kitchen floor. The wood burners are operational and can be used (take narrow logs), you can drive right outside the property to load and unload if you don’t take long; it’s a super narrow street so a small car and semi-confident driving would be a bonus!

We stayed as 4 adults 1 child and pets for 3 nights and the location and house were perfect for our needs. Everything was as expected with a few additional touches such as kit kats left out for everyone, dog treats and dog bowls. There were mountains of books, wifi, tea coffee even a pint of milk left in the fridge for us. My son loved the upper floor as it had a playroom/reading room as well as the single bedroom which he thought was amazing as he had these to himself. All the beds were super comfy. The house is a 2 minute walk for West Cliff carpark which we ended up using as we only were given parking for 2 days when we were there Saturday - Tuesday but this was not an issue as so easy to get to. The house was clean and tidy, everything was in full working order with no issues whatso ever. We would definitely have no issues staying here again. The only advice would be if you are used to drinking from mugs or anything bigger than a small cup consider taking your own!

On arriving door handle hanging off with door very stiff , obviously been like that for a while . Dog friendly yet the patio gate wouldn’t close so had to barricade the exit . The overall lighting and plug sockets are terrible . Bedrooms and kitchen especially, had to get a torch on to see as we were cooking breakfast . The pans had dried food in them , no essentials like bin bags or foil . We took logs for the fire as it was Christmas thought it would be nice as none supplied . The host told us to bring our own which we did . However burner is that small any wood over 6 inches else long would not fit . There are old rugs in lounge and bedroom that are bent up which we had to move as kept tripping . The mattress in the front bedroom was years old and not comfy . Furniture was dated , shower door had broken off and replaced with a curtain . There was a dab radio yet was useless as had no batteries in. Clocks didn’t work. Flimsy Yale lock on back door, pipes tick loudly. I could go on…

Really enjoyed staying at this place, it was the perfect location with Whitby right on your door step to explore! The house itself was a really nice spacious layout and it came equipped with everything we needed. We wanted to extend by one day as we were having such a great time but understandably it had already been booked out! All in a great choice to stay to explore Whitby and the surrounding areas!

This was a suitable place for us to stay to spend a weekend in Whitby. The bed was very comfortable, the house was warm, and we had most things we needed. However we visited during the storm and as such the amenities were not really great for staying in unexpectedly. Be aware there is no smart tv (first time we’ve had this in all our years of air bnb travel) so we could only watch terrestrial tv. Which wasn’t a great selection after being shut in by the storm. The second thing is the house is hard to find as it’s not on a road but on a narrow lane off to the side of the main old town. Quite hard to locate in dark and eventually found it on foot out of the car. But other than those issues we had a pleasant stay.

Lovely place to stay, ideal location for sea front and town. Lovely bars down the road. All the facilities we needed for a short stay were available. Lovely house and decorated lovely. As we had dogs and its dog friendly property it was perfect. Would maybe benefit from a small patch of fake grass in back yard as our pooches are funny with toileting on concrete and we didn’t want to venture out late at night. Other than that we appreciated the dog bowls and snacks for us! The only major issue is the parking- difficult to find a space at busy times especially with it being a weekend when we were there. The streets surrounding the property are very narrow. Difficult when picking up and dropping off luggage and dog beds and dogs etc. all in all a lovely weekend!

Good property which is accurate to description. Great location, very central but quiet, dropping off items outside a bit tricky. Annoyingly had to pay insurance which seemed ridiculous for mismatched glasses etc - I really hate these hidden costs and having to provide payment details to 3rd party.

Dealing with this host was a soulless, corporate experience. The host claimed to be a family, but all our communication was with a robotic, uncaring corporate interface. I asked if there could be slight flexibility on the (very late) check in time of 4pm, because my baby needed to nap, and it was very much a "computer says no" response. We also got hit with a last minute fee before we could get our check in details, which was pretty stressful when we'd been travelling all day. Not allowing us to check in until 4pm but wanting us out by 10am made this a bad deal. There was absolutely zero generosity, warmth or hospitality in this experience. A real shame.

Clarence Place is right at the heart of Whitby. Which is nice for quick access to shops and the sea front, but also means you're in seagull central, which, as a land-lubber, I found wearing after a couple of disturbed nights! The house itself was spacious and nicely appointed, if quirky and creaky. The tiny garden would have been good for my dog, but the back wall is broken, so he had to stay inside. Aside from that, my only criticism would be the wobbly toilet seat! ... Although, that's to ignore the big downside of this place: parking. If you can beat the local residents to that elusive spot somewhere in the W Zone, you have to hope it's not under a lamppost (seagulls). And don't forget to put your number plate on the parking permit on arrival or you'll land a ticket... grumble. Imperfect though it is, Clarence Place was a very homely base for a week in beautiful North Yorkshire.

Absolutely lovely couple of days. House has plenty of character and is very clean. Lovely and spacious too! First time in Whitby and the location of the property is fantastic, so much to see and do on your door step. Would recommend bringing only one car as Whitby is quite tight on parking and we found it easier to park on the bigger roads away from the property as a heads up. Would recommend!!

I stayed here with my dad and brother for 4 nights. I found the home comfortable, well located and I liked the range of interesting books that where in each room. This would be an ideal place to stay with family and we liked that you could sit outside the front and the back of the house depending on where the sun is. Whitby is a wonderful place to visit and we loved that there is so much to do within walking distance. We where very blessed with the weather and hope to visit Whitby again.

Perfectly located in the heart of town with a host of coffee shops and eateries, mostly dog friendly. The accommodation was comfortable and the shower and bath lovely, which was appreciated as we had biblical weather and cold and needed to warm up. Beds cosy and parking, once we worked it out available close by. We loved the pop up pubs and the walks around Whitby gorgeous. The abbey had a gd view but is extortionate for a family, and the museum not worth it.

Only request is, provide kitchen roll, and cleaning spray with cloth to wipe surfaces. Slight issue, only slight, but Difficult for take away delivery as very limited car access. Overall superb find in a busy town👍
