The location was ideal for walking around and also giving us close proximity to a wedding we were attending. Dog friendly allowed us walks around the beautiful scenery nearby and put us close to amenities whenever needed.

On street parking was a slight issue in that other road users continued to cause no vehicle access by parking to block cars going around the small streets. We had no issues as we hardly used the car.

The fittings and furnishings in the cottage were to a very high standard. It was very comfortable ,clean and beautifully decorated.

The stairs would be difficult for people with mobility issues.

Clean and tidy and well decorated. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The location was good. The lounge seating comfortable. The heating worked well and was easy to use.

Very low ceiling in the second bedroom. This place would be unsuitable for four people. Only two chairs for the dining table. There was no slip mat in the bathroom. There was no welcome pack, only five tea bags. The back yard was scuffy. The communication regarding the access code was very late coming. There was no bannister rail on the stairs.

Very cosy feel to this house, we loved every minute being here!!
Very close to the centre of town and the supermarket is only around the corner!!!
The parking is a little hard but you do manage to grab a space after a little trouble.

Really nice decor and a perfect location for what we needed.

The back yard was very substandard. It was very uninviting and full of huge weeds. I could be made a lot better for residence with very little cost

The quality of finish is exceptional. It feels luxurious; the gold in the bathroom underlines this particular aim. Plenty of sockets located close to bed which very important for my requirements. Comfortable bed. Nice courtyard area to sit outside,weather permitting. TV simple to use and provided a range of options. Location is very central and easy to access high street.

On-street parking not really an option without blocking traffic. Ware Street is very narrow, so although you can unload car outside property, I’d recommend the long stay parking which is close by and only £1.60 for 24 hours. There was no data signal inside, I had to go to courtyard to use phone. However, in fairness, there was probably wi-fi available but I didn’t bother to check. The nature of my stay meant I wasn’t going to be using the cottage for much other than bathing and sleeping.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent stay at your property.
As a Christian, I found certain aspects of the lounge decor to be deeply offensive, as they appeared to depict themes that I believe amount to blasphemy. This made me feel quite uncomfortable during my stay.
While I understand and respect the right to artistic expression and personal style, I believe it would be helpful — and more considerate — to include a note in the listing stating that the property contains decor that may not align with all religious or cultural values. This would allow guests with different beliefs, such as those of the Christian faith, to make a fully informed decision before booking.

Great location in town centre close to shops and places to eat and drink. Cottage was lovely, very clean, decorated really nice. Had all amenities for our stay

Court yard was ok and we had great weather but small table and chairs and bench were really uncomfortable. Think to make this cottage perfect need to tidy it up and have some better seating. It is a perfect sun trap great for outdoor eating.

I lovely little house in town. Clean, tidy and smart, it met our needs for a long week-end visiting relatives in Barnard Castle and surroundings. Close to town centre and Bowes Museum. Very satisfied.

The letting agency that handles this property is terrible. They took my booking as an opportunity to market stuff at me again and again through booking.com messages. It got ridiculous. They also have a very suspicious looking payment method - there are literally articles that you can find online easily that say what they use as their payment method is the method favoured by scammers.

2. Unfortunately, our wives didn’t have a day out on the Saturday, as we had split the keys off the key ring enable us to out fishing, we took one of the keys of the ring, thinking
That we had left the other front door key behind, as they could not the lock the front door, meant our wives had to stay in as they couldn’t lock the house up.
The other key was for back yard, noticing the back wall had opening had been blocked up, they didn’t go out into the back yard, only on Sunday we found there is a door.
If the keys had been marked as such, that may have a different outcome for their day, you can’t see the back door from the kitchen window.

Can you suggest having two front doors keys, then it wouldn’t happen to any other guests or couples, staying at the house.

The service bill -£60- is too high for a 2 night stay. It needs to have kitchen roll in the kitchen.

Excessive messages, 20 odd messages from the host, some were the same repeated waiver form that I had completed twice. The payment method was not clear. They messaged multiple times to request payment with no way of me actually doing so until I messaged the second time, and they eventually sent me an invoice.

Great cottage in great location for town.
So well decorated & styled with comfy beds.
The back yard was a bonus especially with our dog, could keep the door open knowing he couldn’t get out.

The decor is lovely and it's easy to walk into the town which is lovely but the extra cost was unfair and there was no ability to use washing machine (plug stuck under top). The sofa was full of crumbs. It's such a shame it really dampened our enjoyment it could have been really nice

The cottage itself was lovely. Very comfortable and clean, as shown in the listing. Unfortunately my experience was spoiled by the policies of the agent, Host and Stay . Immediately after booking the property and paying I was contacted to either pay a non refundable insurance policy of £25, or pay a damage waiver of £250 ( of which only £240 would be refunded due to a £10 “ administration fee”). I was very disappointed by this, it should be made clear at the time of booking. I also felt rather hounded on the day of check out to be repeatedly texted and reminded of the check out time . As a large family staying in multiple Air Bnbs around Barnard castle, I was the only one to have a negative experience. My family all had no problems dropping their baggage off prior to check in time but unfortunately this was not possible at this cottage . I would not recommend booking with this agency, but the actual property is lovely.
