Decent stay, had everything we needed for a short weekend away with family. Rooms were actually a bit bigger than we’d expected based off photos which is always good! Well equipped kitchen and a nice big booth. Enjoyed staying in Otterburn - good location for exploring Northumberland and had a great dinner at the local pub. Handy to have a village shop too. As mentioned in the other recent reviews, be aware that the garden is just down the lane behind the house, rather than attached - plain and simple but big enough for our dog to have zoomies! Also there is no shower but it’s quite obvious in the pictures so we knew what we’d signed up for! House is generally just a bit tired with some paint peeling and a furry rug that needs a big vacuum/updating. However that’s all just cosmetic; functionally it had everything we needed and was comfy.

The property was okay value for money and close to a venue for a wedding we were attending so that was convenient for us, otherwise we probably wouldn't stay again or recommend it unfortunately. WiFi didn't work so couldn't use the TV, we were a bit confused by the parking at the back as there was no number for 7. Quite a lot of flaking paint in kitchen on walls and finishing just isn't great, scrapes and marks on walls throught the house, just felt really tired. It's also located right on a main road and very noisy with traffic as it was hot we had the windows open so this was a bit of catch 22. There is also no shower, just a bath with a hose attachment, which I didn't realise or we probably wouldn't have booked. Overall it was fine, quite basic and okay value for money but just needs some TLC.

Lovely terraced quirky cottage. It was clean and tidy. Easy check in. Responses to messages were all AI so quick but very frustrating as wasn’t always helpful. For example WiFi network that it was supposed to have did not exist and we never got onto WiFi, annoying as England were playing in the World Cup. Lovely bathroom but hadn’t realised no shower until I’d seen reviews the day before. So if a shower is a must or can’t climb into a roll top bath then this cottage isn’t for you. Nice big area for seating in kitchen and half and half back door so was lovely to have the top portion open when in there. The stairs were steep and one big step onto landing, not so great for people with a mobility issue but, no issue for us. Tea, coffee, milk sachets etc provided and 1 loo roll 🤔 Garden isn’t straight out the back door which if we’d brought our dog would’ve been a pain to access. 10am check out isnt great after a late night at a wedding. On the whole we enjoyed our stay. Lovely location.

Stayed here for a wedding with a few friends, cheaper than local hotels at the time. Lovely cottage feel to the place. I would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet getaway.

Beautifully decorated, conveniently located (within short walking distance) to the nearby le petit chaetau wedding venue, and within peaceful surroundings. As the pictures show there is only a bath (no shower). We only stayed for 2 nights so didn't get the chance to explore very far but there is a handy village shop for basics. Would definitely book again if we were to return to the area.

The cottage was lovely, very convenient for the wedding we attended at the chateux. The guide was really handy for the little questions. The children really enjoyed the retro look of the cottage and the bedroom and bathroom with stairs down to it were a hit! It is kitted out with all the little accessories you might need ie iron etc. small coffees and milks are provided until you can get to the shop which is less than 5 minutes walk. The only thing that we felt it was missing was a tv upstairs in the bedroom and an air fryer would have been handy. But it was an absolutely lovely cottage, real fire, cosy and well looked after.

A really lovely house that was surprisingly spacious. Clean and comfortable with nice surroundings and an easy walk to the local shop. Would recommend as overall a lovely stay in a lovely property and perfect for guests at the nearby wedding venues.

We booked this place as we were guests to a wedding at the nearby Petit Chateau. It’s location was great - 5 minute walk. The place itself was quant and clean, however a little tired and needed a little maintenance inside. The door lock was quite stiff from the inside and the decor chipped in a few places. The roll top bath was nice, but a shower would have been better, although not sure where it would go, so that’s probably why there wasn’t one. The two main disappointments were: 1. The inflexibility of booking in-time, we traveled up from Devon for 9 hours and weren’t allowed in earlier than 4. 2. The fee for breakages - we had to pay either £25 non refundable fee against possible breakages, or a £450 deposit that would have £10 non refundable for admin. Never had this before with air bnb so that essentially added £25 to the stay. Other than that, it was comfortable and perfect for its location to the wedding view.

Nice cottage thank you. Quite a busy main road and I hadn’t realised that the back garden wasn’t directly out of the back door which was a little inconvenient with the dog. Also, there was no storage for food that we brought so had to keep it in bags on the kitchen floor. However, the cottage was nicely furnished and clean.

Lovely little place to stay in, very well decorated felt very warm and homely. Nice and clean, loved the style of the house. Log burner is a lovely touch to have, very useful in winter! Dale was great at messaging beforehand to make sure we could find the place and manage check in. One thing to note would be that whilst it does have an enclosed garden, it's not directly accessible from the property (not even visible) . Whilst this was fine for us to pop the dog in briefly it may not be suitable for all visitors.

Highly recommend Canny Cottage! We stayed for a long weekend while attending a wedding at Petit Chateau. Just a few minutes walk from the venue and lots of nice walks on the doorstep of the cottage. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for a few nights stay. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and hopefully we’ll be back one day.

Our first experience of Airbnb and won't be our last. Loved our stay. A beautiful home base from which to explore Northumerland National Park, the coast and beyond (we did a day trip to Edinburgh during our stay (about 90mins to the park and ride). Kitchen was well equipped for our needs. Village shop has most essentials. Larger Coop in Rothwell, big supermarkets at Hexham (40mins). Host & Stay coms were great. Many thanks.

Canny cottage was a lovely place for our 2 night stay, the dogs were happy with the garden area and we thought the house was welcoming and had everything we needed.
