The host company was very politely entirely unhelpful with any queries/ problems.
The house looked great and was tastefully decorated but was rather style over substance, being meanly provisioned. We had a dribble of watered down washing up liquid, one dishwasher tablet and two half rolls of toilet paper.
My friend’s shower was dirty, I had no bedside lights.
I loved the location but this is not a place to stay if you’re unfit ! 199 steps to town. Great views and terrace

Great location and lovely accommodation. It was perfectly clean. It would have been nicer to have more than 2 dishwasher tablets as we ran out of clean cups etc and there wasn’t any washing up liquid, so 2 tablets is not enough. Small note for others is that although called Caedmons view, the actual house sign states 1 Caedmon cottage. Saw no reference at all to Caedmons view. Ref parking you have to drive into the Abbey grounds and turn right, which feels odd, but the host sends out a location and helpful video.
Overall a lovely find. Fully recommend

The properly has amazing views. There is a patio and large grass area which was perfect for dogs and could just let them out without at night before bed! It’s very spacious. We stayed with family in the two bedrooms and didn’t feel on top of each other both have en suite and there is a separate toilet in the hall. The guide of how to get to the property were perfect with a video of the drive in. Which helped no end

The parking situation due to the property above which host and stay also manage. They didn’t park correctly and was very tight to manoeuvre inexperienced drivers would struggle and also larger cars. There wasn’t any hand wash in the kitchen and only one soap provided in the bathrooms which I think standard hand wash would be better. No kitchen roll or washing up liquid for small pots however they did provide 2 dish washer tablets which we used. The beds are not very comfy and small they aren’t a standard double and didn’t sleep the best in them.

The location for us was Good - a little strange as the entrance feels like you are going under an arch into the abbey a little bit. But really good, the garden was a decent size. Living room very spacious and kitchen, both bed rooms with en-suite was fab. Close to Whitby Brewery which was great.

Lack of soap in the bathrooms. We didn't mind the stairs, but if not fit the stairs down to Whitby (or back up) would be an issue, so people should think about that. Totally fine for us. Closest beaches are not dog friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyable though we feel that a 4pm check in is a bit late especially when compared with our other Airbnb stays. A minor point with the property wa# that there was no hanging space for clothes.

The location , fantastic views, lovley decor, nice garden

Steps up to kitchen not good for my elderly mum as she couldn’t make a cup of tea . Bit unfinished smashed bin in kitchen , views of cafe when u come outside win morning with dressing gown on .only takeaway available is domino’s it’s ok if u cook all time . The directions to get into property . Weeds all over but scruffy . Tv to hard to use .

Amazing location! Incredible views. I was in two minds whether to book this due to some negative feedback, but I was glad that we went ahead. Its a lovely apartment, very spacious and clean. Lovely big garden, oh, and those views!
It's located within the grounds of the Abbey, which was fab. Clear instructions were sent on how to locate the property; you can't just rely on the postcode.
199 steps down to the town of Whitby. Whitby Brewery is only around the corner, where they serve fab beer and oven-fired pizza's.
Overall, it was a great stay, and I would recommend.

The only thing would be to make the garden secure - I visited with a dog and was conscious of the gap in the wall at the bottom and to the side, out towards the area for car parking. Maybe a gate so dogs can be let out without worry, however this did not affect our stay as we always prepare for this. We loved the garden and our dog definitely enjoyed the space.

Beautiful decor & layout in an amazing location. The views of the Abbey & also Whitby were stunning. A literal stones-throw from the Abbey

Parking instructions were very clear for us but a nearby property parked in our allocated location & parking was then tight.

The location of the apartment is wonderful, the view spectacular and the apartment itself impressive but there are some failings:
More specific directions required
Security light not working, dangerous as there is a step which hasn't been clearly marked - the light was pointed out by a previous guest, why hasn't this been repaired?
No heating on arrival - took until Saturday evening to warm up. Why wasn't this on?
No firewood or fire irons
No additional blankets
There are few lights in the area so a torch for guests would be useful
We received a welcome message and when we responded with our concerns received a message back which didn’t address the issues raised.
We certainly would wish to return but only if all the above issues have been attended to..

The cottage situated in a fabulous location with great views overlooking Whitby. St Marys church and the Abbey is only couple of minutes’ walks from the cottage.

One of the most disappointing holiday cottages I’ve ever stayed!
Other family members also visited Whitby at the same time and booked cottages nearby. As it was Christmas week, all their cottages were decorated for Christmas with Christmas tree set dining table, bottle of wine, card and welcome hamper from Bothams. They paid half of what we paid for this cottage (£1,800+) for a week and we had no welcome gesture, not even a card wishing good stay or Merry Christmas.

Main entrance path was covered in weeds and dried garden debris.
As we walked through the main door, initial impression we had that it was a beautiful apartment but was quickly disappointed as we started to unpack our luggage’s. There was no wardrobe or hanging facility to unpack our clothes into but had couple of chests of drawers set in the bedrooms.

We booked for a week but kitchen had an empty bottle of washing up liquid, no kitchen roll, only 2 bin bags, 2 dishwasher tablets and no cleaning products whatsoever at all.

The windows were dirty both inside and outside. Particularly, kitchen window had a lovely view but most of the view was absorbed by the seagull poo.
The extractor fan and shower panel was dirty in the main bathroom.
There was a wonderful fireplace but there was no log in it or pack of logs by the side, no kindling or any set of fireside tools if we wanted to light a fire.

There was a lovely patio through the living room with wonderful views of Whitby which was spoilt by an fragile wood table with one chair in one side and another chair was broken and situated on the grass verge.
The mattress on both bed felt cheap. Our back was hurting after laying on it overnight. During the night, every time we both tried to move or turn, mattress squeaked and sounded like it was going to break, so we could hardly relax or have a good night sleep.
All the cupboards in the cottage were empty, no books to read, no board/card games to play.

We had a great few days as a family. Awesome views over Whitby from the property, great for heading down the 199 steps into Whitby or heading off along the coastal path for a walk to Robin Hoods Bay.

Caedmon's view is in an ideal location by Whitby Abbey, with amazing views over Whitby from the windows. The place is very nice and modern with a large kitchen space. My partner and I stayed here just the two of us, but there is more than enough space for 4 people to stay comfortably. The only issue we had was finding the place, as it wasn't very clear where to park, although we did arrive in the dark so that didn't help. Overall we had a nice stay.

The property is so spacious, modern & clean and is situated in the perfect location, a stone throw away from Whitby Abbey with an excellent view of the town.

The TV is a little slow & tricky to get your head around the live tv channels. It would have also been good to have space to hang up clothing in the bedrooms.

Take my advice and DO NOT book a holiday with Host & Stay. These people are serial offenders when it comes to poor levels of cleanliness, maintenance and complaint resolution.
You only have to read some of the poor reviews on their own website (e.g. Raven House, Robin Hood’s Bay) to see how bad they are.
I took my disabled friend to Whitby for what may well be her final holiday. Caedmon’s View seemed ideally situated within the grounds of the Abbey but our stay was badly let down by Host & Stay who obviously didn’t care about customer satisfaction. We reported numerous issues to them and nothing was done: windows filthy, window sills covered with dust & dead flies, outside light not working, incorrect address, only one usable patio chair for a flat that sleeps 4. The list goes on.
I filled out their complaints form and they said they would get back to me within 7-10 working days. 11 working days later and they had done nothing. Finally I involved Airbnb who processed a refund.

Beautiful place to stay that is convenient to access all along the Cleveland Way. Bonus is the on-site parking and the Whitby Brewery literally 2 minutes away.
