Caedmon House is a stunning holiday home located in the grounds of Whitby Abbey, with sea views, and recently refurbished to an exceptional standard. Named after the earliest known English poet who was born in Whitby, this charming property is packed with history, and boasts panoramic views of the town, harbour and coastline. Sleeping up to six guests, Caedmon Prospect is the perfect place for families and friends to enjoy a relaxing retreat on the coast.
The space
Recently refurbished to the highest standard, Caedmon House is a stunning property with style in abundance. Sleeping up to 6 guests across three spacious bedrooms, this gorgeous property has it all. Upon entering the house, you’ll be welcomed into a bright hallway.

LIVING ROOM
Head up the stairs to the living room and you’ll find a cosy space with a dark coloured feature wall and exposed beams. The perfect place to retreat to, relax on the corner sofa and turn on the flat screen TV to keep up with your favourite shows.

KITCHEN AND DINING AREA
Take the steps up to the open plan kitchen and dining area. Beautifully styled, there is a light grey shaker style kitchen and a rustic wooden table with a matching bench and leather dining chairs. Fully equipped for all self-catering stays, you’ll have everything you could need for your visit.

BEDROOM AND BATHROOM
Also on this floor is an en-suite bedroom with a comfy king bed. The neutral colour scheme creates a luxury and tranquil look. The en-suite bathroom boasts a large walk in shower, WC and basin. Head upstairs to the second floor and you’ll find a further two bedrooms and the family bathroom. Both rooms have king beds with plush bedding and premium linens. Packed with character, they feature sloped ceilings and unrivalled views of the town below. The master bathroom has exposed beams, a sloped ceiling with a low window and grey brick style tiles. Soak in the freestanding bathtub, which has an overhead shower, with a good book. A vanity basin and WC completes the space.
Guest access
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. There is private parking for up to two vehicles at the house.
Other things to note
Two well behaved dogs welcome.

I originally would of given the place 5 out of 5 for everything but the en suite shower did not work, well we couldn't get it to work.
the position of the place is stunning.
the app you get sent is extremely handy overall we had a wonderful stay.

Fabulous weekend in Whitby and you can't beat the views and the location of this property, but the hosts describe the place as luxury. It may have been when first launched but overtime the deco has worn and items that may have been there have disappeared. The kitchen isn't well equipted, no tabs for dish washer, nothing more than cloth to wash up with, salt and pepper empty, dish washer door falling off and most cupboards empty. In the bathroom there was no place to hang the hand towel, no place for shower toiletries and no hand soap. The upstairs bathroom, as people mention before, has no blind so whilst sitting on the toilet you can view the parking area (and potentially they can view you) and in the downstairs bathroom the shower is almost inoperable due to stiff fitting to turn on and off.
The outside space could also do with a good tidy up.
I realise all of these are workable but when you are paying this price per night you expect to not have to think about these things.

We really enjoyed our stay at Caedmon House, the views were spectacular and the location was great being able to walk down the steps into Whitby. A really helpful guide to finding the property and using the property was provided and the host was very helpful with any questions. The house itself was lovely and very well presented. We would definitely return here if we were to stay in Whitby again.

Check in details and exact location are with-held until you complete a form entering your personal data on a third party website accessed via a URL sent by SMS. This is not made clear until the non-refundable payment has been made. Why can’t everything be handled through the Airbnb app?
As a result we arrived in the evening with no word from the host and no idea how to access the house. Google maps location was inaccurate at the time of writing, which did not help
The house itself is comfortable and the location is fantastic. Cleanliness was fine considering it is a dog-friendly accommodation. Great house, awkward check in process.
