This would be 5 stars except the amenities listed included high chair, washer & dryer. The property did not have these and we travelled with a 10 month old & 3 other children. Luckily we packed enough clothes but only just. Disappointingly the host tried to debate that these amenities were never listed and changed the listing while we were there to reflect. I wouldn’t have expected the company to provide a washer dryer but at least own the mistake in the listing. This is a great property in a great location. Sandsend is really on the up!

Really nice house in a great location. Car park close by and easy to park out front and unload. House was clean and tidy and plenty of space (we had 4 adults and 4 kids). The attic rooms are perfect for the kids with the extra bathroom. Location is great with some great food in walking distance. Mary’s sandwich shop is amazing, best sandwich I’ve ever had!
The host was really friendly, helpful and very responsive. Will definitely stay again!

A lovely place to stay in a beautiful village by the sea. The house is warm and welcoming, tastefully decorated with plenty of space on each floor, perfect for two young families looking for quick access to the beach. We had everything we needed in terms of equipment but it would be a good idea to take bin bags, dishwasher tablets and toilet rolls as we soon got through the ones provided (it was Christmas, after all). The information booklet is a little out of date in terms of local amenities- Mary’s Cafe and Fish Cottage not mentioned (both are excellent!).
Still, these are minor issues that can easily be put right. In the grand scheme of things, this was a fantastic place to stay and I fully recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house.
We came with 5 adults and 3 children and the bedrooms were a good size and really handy having sinks in our rooms.
House was clean on arrival although house is tired and could do with a a bit of decorating. However this didn’t affect our stay and would not stop us returning but don’t expect a show home!
2 bathrooms were recently renovated to a very good condition as was the kitchen. The kitchen was excellent equipped and had everything we could need. The kitchen is very small with only room for one person to be in there cooking.
The dining room was a good size with plenty of seating for 8 but the living only had seating for 6 maximum so wouldn’t work if you were bringing 8 adults.
Travelling with young children it was very handy to have washing machine, travel cot and high chair.
The location is great and being able to see the sea from multiple rooms was a real treat. Be aware that on street parking is limited with paid car park nearby.

Gute Lage direkt am Meer. Die Straße hört man kaum. Bei Ebbe kann man am Strand bis Whitby laufen. In der Woche (Oktober) findet man kostenlose Parkplätze, am Wochenende muss man möglicherweise auf den nahen Parkplatz ausweichen, 24 Stunden für 7 Pfund.
Es ist ein altes Haus, was man auch deutlich riechen kann. Hier und da blättert die Farbe ab. Die beiden Badezimmer sind sauber und wirken teilrenoviert. Die vier Schlafzimmer sind ok. Im 1. Stock sind zwei Zimmer mit Doppelbett. Darüber befinden sich zwei kleinere Zimmer mit jeweils 2 Einzelbetten. Achtung: Wer Rückenprobleme hat, der sollte die Matratzen vorher prüfen. Manche sind sehr weich. Teller, Besteck, Gläser, Kochutensilien sind ausreichend vorhanden. Die Küchengeräte modern. Der Esstisch unten bietet Platz für 8 Personen. Das relativ kleine Wohnzimmer daneben nicht wirklich. Hier gibt es einen Holzofen. Brennholz muß man selbst besorgen.
Fazit: Wir waren mit 6 Erwachsenen da und würden wiederkommen.

We had a lovely time in Beachside, it was cosy, warm and great sea views.
The Grandchildren loved the top floor bedrooms and all the beds were really comfy.
The kettle stopped working during our stay and was replaced the next day by the agent.
I was concerned after reading some previous reviews on the cleanliness of the house but we found it to be clean and everything in order

Trés joli logement spacieux est bien situé au calme en front de mer. Un parking gratuit la nuit de 18h00 à 08h00 est apréciable. Tout ce dont vous avez besoin est disponible dans l'appartement.

The place was lovely, lots of space and a great location. The shower on the first floor wasn't working and the second floor stairs were too steep for one of my party who has limited mobility, so it wasn't ideal not having a working shower. Apart from that it was a great place to stay.

Good location, Comfortable beds

Poor house keeping, Faulty kettle ,Shower drain on first floor continually backing up, Second floor shower very difficult to achieve the correct temperature . Ground floor living room and dining room need refurbishing

Great location.
Lovely building
Immediate beach access and lovely little bar and some cafe/restaurants nearby.
Bus stop outside with great access to all local areas.
Accommodation was not as clean as would have expected. But good communication with the hosts, very responsive and helpful. Offered a mid stay clean and a partial refund on the cleaning bill. Very receptive. Thanks

First of all. the positive. Fantastic location and very comfy beds. The accommodation is worn and tired. The toilets and bathrooms were dirty and in disrepair. It is a lot smaller than it looks on Air BnB and although it is in a great location and has limited sea views from the living room, I wouldn't recommend this place to guest with mobility issues (we had 3 older people with us that struggle with walking and stairs). It would be helpful if that was made clear in the description. We had slug trails in the property each morning. I understand it is an old property, but stopping the slimy things getting in isn't that hard to resolve. The kitchen is tiny so preparing meals is difficult when catering for more than a couple of people.
We have used Host and Stay before and found that the properties were immaculate, so we recommended them to a friend who booked for their family in Whitby who also found the property below par. For the price we paid we expected much more than what we got.

The location of Beachside cottage was amazing, with only a 3-5 minute walk to the beach. The beds were comfy and the washer/drier a lifesaver with small children by the beach! The smart tv was unfortunately not very ‘smart’ with only a couple of apps working, which was a bit of a disappointment. It was lovely being able to see the sea from several of the windows. The property was a little tired perhaps, but had pretty much everything we needed in a holiday house.

This house really suits my family. It's the third time we have stayed here!
Enough space for people to find some peace if they want it and a lovely dining space for family meals and activities.
The location is excellent, wetsuits on and cross the rd and you are in the sea, or pack up the Kubb (excellent beach game) and draw a court on the beach for an evening match! In previous years we have seen whales, dophins and seals from the beach. Nothing this year but the bay window is great for beach watching.
Hopefully we'll be back next year!

Lovely decor and very near the beach. Quiet even though it was a bank holiday, although no local store and the pub shut on an evening for food and drinks. Great food at the fish cottage and walk across the sands to Whitby!
