Property is in a good location on the north side , easy access to the areas we like to go to.
Booked this , and a week later , I received a £25 damage cover fee, it did say this is required if booked prior to the 18th as I booked on the 21st I asked this question, they responded back with , No I don’t need to pay as I’ve booked after the date , that’s a lie because they won’t give you the key code until it’s paid .
On arrival with still no key code , I rang them to ask for entry , I had to pay the damage fee, I said you said by email this isn’t required?
Well it needs paying she said , I was put on hold for 10mins with no answer until paid
Then they sent me a message saying sorry it was a mistake and it did need paying .
£50 cleaning fee,
The apartment is nicely laid out, but it’s covered in dust and cobwebs and dirt , not sure why it’s £50 when it’s not been cleaned , staff are not very helpful and a little rude
Big damp stain on the wall as soon as you enter , and also an iron burn mark on the carpet, dust on all the shelves and lights , cobwebs on the ceiling an ld under the bed frame
Would be nice with some old put back into the place

Loved the location and the size of the space. Perfect for 2! And a real comfortable space to spend a few days away, nice little home from home.
There were some carpet stains, marks on the walls and some of the furniture was a bit worn. Needs a little TLC but nothing major just a little spruce will do.

the design was great, really nice looking, great view of the cricket ground, really comfortable beds, outdoor seating area for two
other than looking nice there were cig and iron burns in the carpet, the mirror fell over as it was just lent against a pole it was meant to be attatched to, there were oil makes all up the wall at the back of the cooker as there was no back splash, the oven was really hard to work as well so could only really cook using the hob,

I liked the location ,and the overall open space planning of the apartment .kitchen and bathroom were great and overall it was very comfy place to stay
There was a damp patch immediately as you walked through the apartment door ,also the carpet was a tad grubby near the kitchen area and also had a big iron mark burnt in .The front balcony looked like it had not been cleaned for ages ,with cigarette ends ,tea bags and lots of weeds growing through the decking .Also on lifting the side door blind ,that also had rubbish on it and lots of weeds growing ,although you wouldn’t go out of this door it still was very of putting .Storage for clothes was a small rail with 6 hangers and there were no drawer space . We only went for three nights but we couldn’t fit all our clothes in the storage available .

The location is excellent near the North Bay and the Open air theatre.
This place could be perfect if it had been kept up to scratch.
The apartment on first look is lovely, very modern and new.
We stayed here last October and it was perfect and very clean.
This time, the overall cleanliness was definitely not up to scratch. The bathroom, the kitchen area, wasn't cleaned properly.
It was fairly dusty.
The mirror had been broken off the stand and been left underneath the sofa so there was no full length mirror to use.
The small terrace would be ideal over looking the cricket ground if it was clean.
The carpet had really bad blk stains all over it.
It is such a shame people have not looked after this property as it was lovely last time but also the cleaners could definitely do better

It was filthy and smelt. It hadn’t been cleaned the carpet had oil and food on crumbs and dust every where.Bathroom smelt there was mould on the walls and in the bathroom. The shower smelt of urine .We had to go to the shop and buy cleaning materials and clean the place .We was very upset with this experience

Tastefully decorated, facilities were good and the little outdoor decked terrace overlooking the cricket ground was an unexpected bonus.
The whole apartment needs a lick of paint, it was very dusty and it wasn't cleaned to my standard, there is mould in the wetroom and I know cleaners have a short window in which to clean but there was debris around the edges of the carpet which really should not have been overlooked and the windows and upvc was filthy. There was considerable damage to walls and paintwork which makes it look tatty. That being said, the bed linen was clean and the overall feel of the apartment was nice and we had a lovely time.

Lay out of the property and asthetics
that attention to detail in what was meant to have been included, i.e.,no toileterries ,no hangers ,tea towel supplied was ingrained with old stains ,and matterres had old in grain stain with no mattress protector, there also seems as there needs some maintaining as the electric radiator came of the wall whilst trying to reach to open the blinds and bathroom towel rail was loose .and no plug guard in the shower

Iron Mark on carpet , blind had a piece missing, curtains didn't meet when shut, front door key was not opening with ease.
I personally thought that it was not as newly refurbished as stated but was OK.

Was hard to find a 24hr carpark nearby so had to park a mile down the road.
Was not cleaned well, urine on toilet seat, stains on walls, dusty, broken handle on blinds was replaced with a dirty plaster.
Hole in the wall in bedroom. Broken drain cover in the bathroom which we slipped on.

Good location, parking just round the corner
Stopped in Bowlers retreat and felt disappointed. Maintenence and cleanliness was not great. Broken door on to patio, reported on first day but not mended. Cigarette butt's and rubbish on patio. Big damp patch in property, hole in wall next to bed. Loose towel rail and shower head holder. Marks and scuffs all over the walls. No where to put clothes apart from tiny rail with 5 coat hangers so lived out of suitcase. Such a shame as could be a great place but needs a different cleaner and some maintenance.

I liked how it was in the middle of the south and the north bays which made it easy just to walk to either of them. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The rooms were very spacious and there was plenty of room in the fridge if you fancied to cook for yourself.
The sofa wasn’t the most comfiest but that could just be personal opinion. Other than that I have no complaints.

Although this apartment was nice and clean and comfortable unfortunately we would not stay again. The listing stated that there was free residential parking, however there is NO parking. We had to park in a pay and display which was a 15 minute walk away. We were also charged £25.00 to cover insurance for damage and breakages. This was requested as soon as I had booked the stay and as the booking was not refundable I had no choice about making payment. Also, if you like to hang up your clothes I advice taking hangers. Although there is a rail in the bedroom there was not even one hanger supplied.

Really lovely stay. Clean, nicely furnished rooms and bathrooms and all amenities you could need. The only thing I would say is that is was advertised as free parking however when you arrive the manual sends you to paid council car parks and the streets are permit holders only. This wasn’t a problem for me though and I would absolutely book here again. Cannot fault the flat itself :)

The property was close to all the amenities at the north bay side of Scarborough and the cricket ground is just behind.
The property was well furnished and had good self catering facilities.
The bathroom was a wet room, the whole floor got wet when using the shower so tge sink and toilet area were soaked. The bed could have been a bit bigger, the screen and metal shelves on the wall were unnecessary, just in the way.
The front of the property needs a tidy and sweep, first impressions count.

The location was perfect for us.
Firstly, we had to pay a damage fee of £25 before we got the key pad details. This charge should have been included in the booking price, or stated before we booked.
Apartments should have discs or permits for parking outside.
On entrance, the lobby had not been hoovered or cleaned, muddy marks all over the floor.
When entering our apartment, it was freezing cold and first impressions were not great. Could have been a lot cleaner, the floor hadn’t been hoovered, as there was hair and food on the floor. The apartment looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a long time, mirrors were not cleaned, stains on sofa, walls and carpets. Bathroom definitely needed a deep clean. Mould around shower and what looked like toothpaste in the sink.
On first glance we were happy with the facilities, however when we went to use the cups, glasses and cutlery we realised that they were not clean. Not to mention that we only had one fork.
The bed was possibly the worst bed I have ever slept in. Did not get a good nights rest during our 3 nights at all. The noise in the apartment did not help that, you can hear everything around and above you.
When leaving the apartment for an evening meal, we noticed that the door of the lobby had been left wide open, this is concerning!
I am not normally one to leave a bad review, however I have recognised that other reviews for this apartment are very similar, and also share the same downfalls. The response from the company has often been “we have addressed these issues”. However you are not addressing these issues, when couples are constantly complaining about the same things! We would have chosen somewhere else to stay if we took into consideration the previous reviews!
Nicer places to stay for your money!

The location was ideal and the apartment was nice and homely, it had everything you needed just like at home.
There was an awful feisty smell in the shower room that was overpowering, we were only given one toilet roll for a week, the noise in the bedroom from the rain spilling out of the gutter and onto the window ledge was deafening.

10 minute walk to the front
I booked on booking.com, never known anything like it! On the day I was waiting to get into the property at 4.30pm, rang the host to be told I needed to pay a £250 damage deposit before I could be given the keys! (Never had that on booking.com before)
I wasn't happy about this because we are reliable, clean and sensible and let's be honest, it's a small room in Scarbourough! Hardly the Ritz lol. We paid £177 for 2 nights, about average I would say in the area (actually, on the higher side on that street to be fair)
I paid the damage deposit on my credit card bit was nattering then because on entering there was damage to the room which I was anxious may be blamed on us. I took photos which I will attach to review if I can, in a nutshell - damp in the entrance, hole in the wall, wear and tear damage to the walls and shower etc. It's a cream carpet so obviously it was marked, it was also lifted near the shower room.
Sent the pics straight through and was responded to stating they would review the damage after the stay and decide whether to keep the deposit.......how antagonising and frustrating!!! Ruined my weekend to be honest!
Fast forward to the deposit being refunded...checked my account to see only £240 had been sent back, contacted them and explained and asked for the missing £10 to be refunded ASAP. I will attach the reply if I can which was that it is an admistration charge! ....what in the name of Scarborough is going on here?!
As someone who is well travelled, I have been all over the world in some of the best hotels, I have NEVER been charged a £250 deposit (unless it has been a group) and a £10 admin charge. Good old Charles (I think that's his name- the owner) send me some condescending message stating that it's in the small print that they keep a £10 admin fee. Moral of the story - book in somewhere nicer for the same price without all the nonsense of the £250 deposit and 'small print' admin fee.

The apartment was very nice.
Some cooking equipment wasn't clean.
The shower had a button you needed to turn on in the main room but it wasn't labelled so took a while to find.
Upstairs were noisy and rang my apartment phone numerous times at night on the Monday. They also left the front door open. As a solo traveller I was worried about security and they made me feel unsafe. Barricaded my door with a chair.

PRO'S
On arrival I retrieved the keys from the key safe outside the front door and entered. Bowler’s retreat is on the ground floor (despite all the negative feedback, reporting there are a lot of stairs, there are not.
First impressions do matter and this apartment gives a very good one. It is roomy, very clean and tidy, the overall décor is done to a high standard. The main room consists of the living area, bed space and kitchen area.
Main Room: There is one working electric wall heater which adequately keeps the room at a good temperature, we set it to 22 degrees and never had to adjust it at all. the second heater under the window appears to be not working at all. All the furniture is also in good clean condition and the double bed and the couch were comfy enough for us. There is a large flat screen smart TV connected to the broadband. The broadband is not great, it fluctuated between 3mbps and 12mbps, OK, for your phone or laptop email etc, but not always good enough to stream TV & movies, without long buffering breaks. This room also has a balcony with a great private view over the Scarborough Cricket ground if you were planning to stay during the cricket season. One more excellent addition is that there are plenty of plug sockets to handle all your devices you need.
Kitchen Area: Again, this is laid out to a high standard and is well equipped with a full-size Cooker & Hob, Microwave, Toaster and Kettle. The is also a Washing Machine & Dishwasher, if you do use these appliances, you will need your own cleaning tablets or liquid. Adequate utensils, pots and pans.
Shower Room: This is a very nice wet room type layout fully tiled with an Electric Shower, Toilet, Wash Basin and Radiator. As with the main room we left this on constant and were never chilly. Totally adequate for regular daily washing & showering.
Entrance Hall: This is a nice surprise.
CON’s: I paid the full price for the apartment on booking, Then 10 days before our arrival I received and email stating I need to click the company link and pay £250 for a refundable Damage Waiver. There is also a £10 admin charge, which is not refundable, when you do this. This was not stated or included in the advertised price on Booking.com. It says following their inspection after checkout if there are no issues the deposit will be refunded. One week after checkout I had to contact H&S to ask why I had not received my deposit back, I got an email the very next day with the refund info.
H&S: If you are going to add addition charges like this, either add them to your rental charge, or at least state them separately at the point of booking, so we know how much we are paying for the apartment.
While I know Scarborough very well, I was disappointed that H&S do not offer Scratch Card parking permits for road outside this property. Without a card you can only park for 2 hours with a time disc, which I had, but you will need to use the local carpark if you do not have one. Parking disks are available free from some shops & garages. The parking sign on the road states: Area G2, Mon – Sat 9am – 5pm & Sun 12 noon – 5pm 2 Hours. No Return Within 1 Hour.
H&S: May I suggest, you have some free parking discs available in the lobby for all drivers, and also offer scratch cards which can be charged for at booking and left in each apartment for the duration of each visit. We have stayed in two other apartments on this road, and they both do this for their guests.
There is a large shrub outside the Shower room, which because of the heavy wind during our stay kept banging very loudly on the window, all night.
H&S: May I suggest, this be pruned or removed
The broadband is quite slow and not really sufficient to stream TV
H&S: May I suggest an upgrade.
Overall Summary: 7 out of 10
Very happy with the quality and cleanliness.

Nice apartment, modern and only a short walk to all the places I needed to go to.
Cleanliness wasn’t that good, bits on the carpet, can tell it hasn’t been hoovered. Dust in some places and hair on the sofa, shower and carpet. Only the cleanliness that was a let down, shame as the apartment was really nice. I reported this to host and stay who said they will get the cleaner to come out, day later still no cleaner so contacted them again and the person I spoke to said they will get someone to come out, by this time it was dark and getting late. I had to go out and buy some cleaning stuff and also paid 30 for a cheap portable hoover as we were staying in the apartment for 5 nights. Really let down by host and stay as we are returning customers and we do recommend host and stay to family and friends.

Loved the theme and layout, comfy and well presented.
The wood structure that divides the bed from the rest of the living space. Would be better if there was netting there instead of that wood so can be open and closed. Would be able to watch tv while in bed. Also bed could be bigger.

We found the property through airbnb and we were assured there was free parking on site. However, the listing should say free parking between 5pm and 9am and then disc zone parking for 2 hours at a time. You need to collect a disc from the shop up the road. We didn’t want to be out that early so parked about 5 mins away for £6.25 for 24 hours.
The sockets had tripped when we arrived and the living room heater didn’t work the entire time we were there. The final night we put the oven on to warm the room.
The accommodation was pleasant and modern. A few more basics would have been nice eg more than two knives and forks.
However, the apartment didn’t seem to have been cleaned properly and there was grouting in the drain in the shower which made it look like there was poo in it.
We also didn’t realise about the £25 insurance or £250 waiver you had to pay when you book. I understand this protects the property owner but adds to the price and we weren’t told about it in advance.

It was a lovely and spacious apartment.
It took about half an hour and two phone calls to get the code for the key lock so we had to sit in the car and wait outside in the cold and dark evening, which was very unpleasant. The heating was turned off when we arrived and it took hours to warm up, especially in the front room, so the first evening was very cold. The apartment was not soundproof at all, so the noise from the couple upstairs was very intrusive.

Nice stylish apartment close to town centre very clean on arrival.
Lots of stairs up a narrow staircase. High level windows in attic room so could only see out when standing. No parking pass / permit as other venues have so had to pay extra or move the car daily.

The location was good and the apartment was very well furnished. A very quiet apartment on our first night.
Loads of stairs to climb that were not mentioned. The kitchen was well furnished but had very few utensils for cooking and no instructions were included. Seems mainly suited for takeaways. The dog running around constantly in the attic apartment above meant we had disturbed evenings.

Very well-presented; tasteful decor; good facilities;
Superb view of the cricket ground and across the town to Oliver's Mount (downside for the less able — up several flights of steep stairs).
Whizzy-looking app with apartment info didn't in fact contain much useful info (in particular no guide to using the unfamiliar cordless blinds; only worked this out by accident) — and would be inaccessible for the non computer savvy.
Being asked, late in the day, for a £250 deposit was a bit of a shock (but perhaps my fault for not reading the property details sufficiently closely). Being charged £10 to pay the deposit was also an unwelcome surprise

The apartment is nicely decorated
One set of towels each for four days is not good enough. Nor is two teabags. The bed is too soft and the couch is too hard - need to step up your game to match other providers. The additional insurance charge or deposit detract from the overall experience.

Booking process was straightforward, transparent and easy. Information relating to check in, property facitlities, check out and 'local things to do' was useful and easy to read. Property itself was clean and tidy, with an amazing view over the cricket ground and close to all amenities but in a quiet area.
If you want to go out to breakfast at the North Bay beach, a quick 7 minutes walk down the cliff path via the pedestrian cut through aloingside no. 105, go to the Watermak or (££) the Oasis (£) cafes.
Perfect stay!
The hosts need to consider adding a backsplash to the back of the hob area as previous guests have obvioulsy been cooking and there are grease splash stains on the wall.

The kitchen was well arranged, with lots of useful appliances and the lounge area was comfortable.
The bed wasn’t as big as advertised, and certainly not comfortable. Additionally - the internet was poor / intermittent. Not ideal for a bit of work I needed to do. When we first arrived the cables had been ripped out of the router. Parking was expensive too.

The apartment was decorated to a high standard. Accessing the apartment was easy with the instructions given.
We found the settee (sofabed) uncomfortable.
Placemats and coasters would help protect the dining table. .
Splashbacks or tiling in the kitchen area would enhance the overall presentation.

Lovely apartment, which matches the photos. Walking distance to all amenities and peaceful enough to get a good night's sleep.
Bed and linen was really nice. Slept well. Shops nearby for essentials.
Info provided prior to check in was informative and likewise on checkout.
Only slight gripe was the car parking was a fair walk from the property and cost an additional £9 per day. Overall though we were very happy!

Clean, lovely and comfortable. Good location for north bay, Peason park, mini railway and Sea life. 10 minutes to main shops. 15 minute walk to sea life.
Smart modern apartment. Plenty of car parks near by. Would stay again if Wifi connection improved, otherwise would score a 9
We chose secure parking which was pre booked lets just say not straight forward. We were on third floor so not good for older people. Some sound transfer from flat above but not enough to be a issue. Busy road. Very quiet where we slept.
Wifi did not work whilst we were there.

Good facilities and decent location
Not clean, crumbs in the cutlery drawer, dirty cutlery, stains all over the rug (wouldn’t cost much to replace??), stains on bed linen, bathroom smelt of drains, mug rings left on table. Batteries for the remote control died and took over 24 hours for replacement batteries to come, couldn’t login to Netflix or other services due to not having an Amazon account.

The location was perfect as we were attending the open air theatre. We also enjoyed walking along the sea front and sampled lovely places to eat. The accommodation was clean, fresh and bright and had everything we wanted and more.
Can’t think of anything apart from lack of hanging space which wasn’t a problem for us.

Nice apartment, wouldn't really call it luxurious but it was comfortable and they'd even left us some coffee pods. It's situated in a good location for access to the town centre and promenade if you don't mind walking. Good view of the cricket ground!
Climbing up the 50 steps to the apartment was a killer, we had to call the company as the mains switch for the shower would not turn off and was really hot, they said they would come when we were out, I don't think they came as we still couldn't turn it off later that day and it was the same all week, sometimes the switch light went out and the shower would not work. There is no wardrobe to hang clothes and the drawers are extremely small, some of the walls are bare brick and you get brick dust coming off them onto the pillows. Street parking is very limited and you need to get a disc from local shops/pubs, I had to keep paying for an NCP car park around the corner - some of the accommodation providers get parking permits for their guests but not this one!

Great location for our trip to the open air arena.
Flat has been renovated to a good standard with quality fittings and furniture.
Well equipt kitchen area and lovely comfy bed.
Flat could do with some upkeep:-
Shower pole not secure to wall.
Carpets could do with a clean.
Back door step is loose.
Kitchen drain smells terrible (bleach handily provided).
Marks on walls could be cleaned off.

nice cozy place, perfect location. towels and bedding were lovely and soft.
only one fork between two of us, dust everywhere, bathroom window didn’t have a blind and it was right next to the shower - neighbours could see us so we felt super exposed and uncomfortable.

The property was spacious and it was situated in a good location, close to the beach, close to Peasholm Park and close to the main area for the attractions.
When we first arrived at the property it hadn’t been cleaned. I called the main office and they did sort it out very quickly however it did mean that we were not able to get into the property properly until 5:30, an hour and a half after original check in which is already late at 4pm, so this did ruin the start of the holiday. I will say though that the staff did sort the issue out for us and refunded us £30. It was unfortunate that we still had to check out early at 10 despite not being able to get in till 5:30. There was also a lot of noise from the other apartments, there was a dog barking very early in the morning and doors slamming, I understand this is not the owners fault however the walls are very thin so this is something to consider when booking here as you will not be able to have a lie in, we were woken at 7 everyday! Generally the stay was lovely, the apartment was in a nice location and it was nice having our own space in a modern place.

Die Lage ist gut, ca 7min zu Fuss zur Innenstatt. Es ist auch ruhig dort. Die Aussicht aufs Stadium fanden wir gut.

The view was great from the bedroom. Nice and quiet at the back over the cricket ground. The bed was very comfortable and very big. The whole flat was very comfortable. Two massive t.v's, lovely big shower. The kitchen was very good; not that I did any cooking, but looked lovely, all the mod cons built in. All round excellent.
We had a couple above us for 3 nights who had the TV on really loud very early. Not the hosts fault though so not a complaint on them The entry, stairs are nice; good lighting, nice sturdy doors, but would suggest that they change the carpet colour to something that doesn't show all the dirt, which it does. Not everyone wipes there feet

Absolutely loved my short and sweet stay in this beautiful apartment. It was such a lovely space to be in, I almost didn’t want to explore the city, as the accomodation was so nice. But very very easy walk into town and had some of my favourite meals in the UK here.

Location was great (a short walk from town or peasom Park the other way). Room was clean and recently refurbished with nice modern kitchen.
Shower was well done.
Parking wasn't ideal. Other guesthouses on road have parking permits for guests but had to park in pay and display at end of street (5 min walk) which wasn't ideal having to go back and top up as it only offered 6 hours stay at time to pay.
Although all the pictures look nice you only get one apartment so it's luck of the draw to which you get. We had ground floor room which was good for access but had noise of other guests and passing pedestrians.

The location was reasonably close to buses and attractions at North Shore.
The outside of the property was untidy. Lot's of weeds and rubbish which gave me serious misgivings as did the muddy carpet in the entrance hall. It was a pleasant surprise therefore to find the apartment, which was ground floor and at the back of the property, was clean and had everything one could need. The shower was excellent. It overlooks the cricket ground which is a bonus if there is a match on and you like cricket. There was also a free parking disc which was very useful.

Quiet location, but central to main facilities. Adequate space for our needs. Well equipped. Loved the little balcony overlooking the cricket ground. We'd love to stay again.
We couldn't work the shower as we were not made aware of master switch in lounge area. The Host & Stay staff (David I think) was very helpful during our two or three phone calls and wasn't aware either of the master switch. Easily remedied by labelling up or including in property pack.

The apartment was well equipped, modern and clean
we were notified to park in a local council car park as the street parking was limited, but not told there was a parking permit in the property. We finally found a 24hr NCP car park and walked for 25 mins to the property with a heavy suitcase and 4 bags, so not a good start. We were also kept awake half the night with a loud buzzing noise and finally it was coming from the fridge which we had no way of stopping. Unfortunately these things ruined it for us and we left a day early.

We love visiting Scarborough, we love both North and South Bay so the location of the property was excellent. 10 min either way. The property is clean and modern with all the home comforts necessary for a few nights or even longer. The coffee machine and milk in the fridge was a great touch. Thank you! There are couple of convenience stores within a couple of minutes walk too.
Didn't have any problems with the apartment. If I had to pick something I noticed on the last day the mattress was upside down so had not had the pillow top but hadn't really found the bed to too uncomfortable. Parking is approx a 6 min walk away and reasonable. I'd recommend unpacking outside the apartment then taking your car up to the Castle Rd or one of the other recommend carparks.

The view of the cricket ground was amazing and the location was excellent for Scarborough Open Air Theatre. The apartment was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. The tiles in the shower room and toilet were lovely. The pre-visit correspondence was impeccable and the best we have encountered. The hosts have thought of almost everything that you could need during a visit, including an iron and hairdryer in the bedroom. We really enjoyed our stay at Umpires Watch and would definately recommend it.
The paint work in a couple of areas needed addressing - looking tired/scuffed. The towel rail in the toilet had been pulled off the wall and bodged back into place. We only had one glass that wasn't a wine glass. The exposed brick work in the kitchen looks lovely but didn't feel hygienic behind the oven and sink. The alternate tap fixing cap was missing from the sink in the kitchen. A shower gel dispenser in the shower room would have been appreciated. Also, an extra tea-towel and an oven glove would be nice.

Tried to email saying this but got no response so putting it here.
We have recently just returned from our 4 night stay at the Anchor apartment in Scarborough from the 20th April until the 24th April 2022. Unfortunately it wasn't the best experience we have had, this was due to the electric going off on the first morning we were there (the Thursday 21st ). This issue wasn't resolved until tea time that day. Unbelievably, we woke up to the same issue on day four which was the Saturday. However this time it couldn't be resolved and we had to move to another apartment across the town. As you can imagine, it had a massive impact on how we could enjoy our holiday.
Although the apartment that we moved to was nice, when we have had a look at the site not only was it cheaper than the one we originally booked it was also quite a distance from where we had paid to park our car. Everyone I spoke to at Host and Stay were lovely but it was so stressfull that I had to call in the first place as I am quite an anxious person. All of these factors resulted in the holiday not being as relaxing as we had hoped.

Lovely bright room, clean and tidy. Very nice view of the cricket grounds to the rear. The room was well furnished and equipped.
The description of renting 'the entire apartment' was misleading as it is actually a Studio. There was a partition between the bed and the living area/kitchenette, although it is flimsy and allows light through. Would be much improved with a substantial partition.

There was no Breakfast but Tea , Coffee and Milk much appreciated .
Location was very good and peaceful . The view of Scarborough Cricket Ground was fabulous . The Cricket wasn't bad either . Restaurants nearby , town centre within walking distance .
The double bed was a little narrow with no spare room to move around
I could have done with a Hob guide as it took me while to figure it
out .

As we had moved from Spain and was looking for a rental property, the apartment was a perfect place to relax

The 'view' was a wall, the accommodation was trying to be stylish but failed miserably

Decor and general vibe of the apartment was great. Apartment was clean and well-presented. The guide book was comprehensive. The interior is up to date and has obviously been influenced by someone with a keen eye for interior design. Overall it had a very metropolitan London sort of style which was wuite interesting for Scarborough!
No view for the particular apartment we stayed in which was not obvious from the pics as the pics on the Booking were was all of the apartments together. Can't really be helped though due to building design.
Couple of minor maintenance items:
1: The bed frame bolts need tightening as the frame itself is loose. I tightened them hand-tight but they will come lose again. Just needs someone with an alan key.
2: Door handle rose in bathroom is loose. Just needs tightening with an alan key.
Comfort:
1: Sofa is obviously more leaning towards style rather than comfort. It did the job though, so all good.

the general property was very nice.
the sink in the kitchen area has a really bad smell coming from the drain. the shower has bad pressure and the blind in the living area would not fully close so was letting light in.

We liked the idea of utilising an apartment. The washing machine was a plus, as was the dishwasher.
The photos on the website suggested a view of the cricket ground to the rear. In fact the view turned out to be a very small courtyard and an annexe to the building - no view of the cricket ground.
The site said the property didn't accept pets which was a plus. However, someone upstairs had a dog which we heard running around due to hard floors above, and there were muddy paw prints on the carpets outside our apartment. Also, it was not pleasant to be sitting in the apartment, which was located on the ground floor, to look out of the front window to see a large dog emptying itself in the front garden in front of our window.
The place had repair issues, as there were cracks running down the walls, the worktop wasn't sealed properly and there was a good gap between it and the wall, there are no splashbacks behind the hob or sink and these were stained badly. There was some damp in the kitchen. The door furniture was loose and some of it hanging off, such as the scutcheon in the bathroom. The shower drain lacked a cover so we would need to stand on an open drain, and the drain itself was filthy.
The walls in the bathroom, although tiled nicely, were filthy and had residue of grout.
The walls were dirty around the sink. The hand towel rail was loose and hanging off.
The front room window evidently hadn't been cleaned for a long time and there were cobwebs and dead spiders on the sash.
The louvre blinds were missing pully-knobs and missing cover slips at the top, one of which was found propped up in the bedroom. The hall way also contained cobwebs at eye level, so clearly this area hadn't been cleaned.
Although 2 remote controls were provided for tvs in the front room and bedroom, one of them did not work, so we had to keep taking the remotes from room to room. The bedroom contained no storage for clothing and although there was a hanging rail, it contained only 3 hangers, which was insufficent for two people for a week's clothing.

Nice modern apartment but I would not stay again.
Pro’s
Modern
Clean
Milk in fridge on arrival
Good location
Easy check in and out
Cons
The bed is advertised as king, it’s only a double so my partner and I barley got any sleep. I would not of booked if I’d known it was a double. It is also very squeaky and very soft.
The walls are paper thin so we could hear everything going on in the apartment above at 3am.
The apartment says it overlooks the cricket ground, The Anchor apartment did not.
No wifi code shown in paperwork.

Enjoyed an overnight stay at this stylish ground floor apartment in Scarborough. Newly done up. Spacious and well furnished. Soft bed with good linen and deep carpet in the bedroom. Well stocked kitchen with complimentary Nespresso pods and milk. Slightly too far to walk to the south beach for us, but certainly possible, and one street away from the path down to the north beach. No parking provided, but possible to park overnight across the road if there’s a space. Wifi not available while we were there (but this is as accurately stated). Run by a company but fairly efficient and useful communication. Would recommend.
