Brilliant location, near shops and pubs. Parking very tight, especially with other cars at next door property. One drawback, and a big drawback, no blinds on two skylights in one bedroom, like sleeping under floodlights,so bright. Good value for money though. Would stay again if they iron out a few problems, sent dm to owner. Recommend.

Lovely Airbnb tucked away within a quiet alleyway near to amenities within the town. The place was clean and had all facilities we required for me and my colleague to use the space for our work trip. Beds were comfy and showers took a while to heat up although found we didn't need them to be so hot with the heatwave, thank you!

This property is located in the centre of the town close to everything. It is well furnished and immaculately clean. However, two things spoiled our visit. Firstly the shower in the main bathroom was cold every morning. When we contacted the hosts, they told us that this could not be adjusted. This was a major inconvenience. Secondly and alarmingly the front door is key operated both sides with only one key. Under UK fire safety regulations that took effect on 1 October 2023, it is compulsory for all self-catering accommodation to have exit doors that are easily openable from the inside without a key. Thumb turn locks or similar quick-release mechanisms are required to ensure immediate, safe evacuation during emergencies.  This was reported to the host and we strongly urge future Guests to check that this has been corrected.

Lovely place in a great location. Unfortunately, we experienced ongoing issues with the hot water. Initially there was no hot water at all, and later there was only enough for one person to have a hot shower, while the other two had lukewarm showers on Christmas Day. Due to the lack of adequate hot water for all of us, we ended up leaving a day early. The host was quick to respond and asked several questions to try to identify the issue, as there was heating but no hot water in the showers and only lukewarm water in the kitchen. However, the problem was not resolved during our stay. We have logged a complaint and are still waiting to hear back.

Fantastic place to stay, the accomodation was really lovely and well decorated with everything you would need provided even tea, coffee and milk. Very comfortable and wash bedroom has it's own en suite which is fantastic. Barnard Castle is a lovely town, lots of places to eat and drink, and very handy for local attractions. Charlie the host was really helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

The house was in a great location close to town centre and easily accessible, the parking was a bit tight and we did query allocated parking spots as it advises there are 2 spots but also 2 spots for house next door … definitely not enough space for 4 cars in driveway. We found communication to be very generic and found that our questions/queries were not addressed satisfactorily, however check-in instructions were spot on. House was not massively clean on arrival with dusty floors and pet hairs on furniture. This was disappointing as we arrived with kids so needed to do a clean, thankfully we had family close by to lend us a vacuum and cleaning supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Barny as we were visiting family so the house served as a base for that.

We booked last minute and the communication was great. We found the property after a little confusion but managed. The parking is a struggle ( a car was already parked and only enough space for one car) so recommend parking on the street as the drive very narrow and can’t turn around. There was no charge. We parked near pharmacy / cafe. Barnard castle was a lovely place to walk and plenty of shops and bars. Although if you want good food the higher quality bars and restaurants they don’t allow dogs, but the pubs do. Some served food too but just pub grub. Dales place has everything you need to cook. With Morrisons just minutes walk away it’s perfect. The apartment was warm and cosy even on one of the coldest weekends. We had a lot of snow which looked picturesque. Great stay.

House that fits the photos, a good option to visit the area. The house is not too big so for up to two couples. But clean and cozy. I had a problem with not knowing how to lock the door and I had to call several times to get a solution (which was a very easy trick that may need to be explained ) There are two things I liked less: 1) there is no flexibility to get in a little earlier than 4pm even to drop off the suitcases. 2) they force you to pay insurance or leave in deposit a high amount, it seems correct but it is good that it will be indicated in the description of the house so that you take it into account in your decision

A very lovely and comfortable place to stay. Clean and modern and nice and private. Unfortunately we were in the area for a funeral so never got to explore the area, however it is just a minutes walk to the main high street with shops, cafe's and pubs. Very convenient. Having been to Barnard Castle many times I know this place would be ideal to use as a base to explore the local area which there is plenty to do and see.

The house is clean and comfortable. it's perfect for a few days. the lack of storage in the kitchen however (every cupboard is taken up with crockery/pans etc) means that it really isn't suitable for more than a brief getaway as there is absolutely nowhere(apart from the decent sized fridge) to put food out of sight. Unfortunately, due to a boiler problem which I am sure has now been resolved, we did not have hot water throughout our stay and this was reported to the host. There was good communication however and they did try to resolve this problem asap. Sadly it wasn't resolved before we had to check out but it does look as though we are getting a refund so I think the way it was dealt with was very effective and I am satisfied with that.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is in an ideal position near the centre of the town but tucked away so it is very quiet. It was warm, clean and tidy. Having two ensuite bedrooms was ideal for our party - 2 couples. There is room for 2 cars (with a bit of toing and froing!).

Need better and more detailed instructions on how to find the place. SatNav took us somewhere different. We parked in Morrisons carpark and walked to find it. There was ample parking for 2 cars. Struggled a bit to turn on heating on arrival as was looking for a wall thermostat, but it was a remote one on kitchen windowsill, but managed eventually - precise instructions needed. Lovely place. Had everything we needed. Comfy beds and pillows. Well equipped kitchen and cosy lounge. Metal chairs at dining table pretty uncomfortable, would benefit from cushions. Interior design was faultless. Would definitely return.

The house was great, just as described, clean and tidy. The only slight disappointment was the lack of the personal touch we’ve had previously with Airbnb properties. This is the first one, whether in the UK or abroad that didn’t provide any kind of welcome pack for arrival (eg milk in the fridge, small loaf of bread, etc). Not to sound picky, but half a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom was a bit stingy as well😂. Possibly a sign of this one been run by a managing agent rather than the host / owner? Which may also explain the number of reminders we received to make sure we vacated the property by 10am! I assume they’re automated, but god they were annoying - 4 reminders to tell us to get out! Never had to buy a £25 insurance policy to cover for any breakages previously either. Overall a great house, in a great location, but let down by the lack of personal touches. Perhaps you lose something of the Airbnb ethos when you start using agents.

Overall an OK stay. Smaller than the photos lead you to believe. Only toilets are the en-suites (this is listed in the description) Both bedrooms have skylights high up in the ceiling so there is no way of making the bedrooms very dark at night. There is only one parking space and it is very tight to get in and out of and this involves communicating with the guests in the airbNb next door to move cars etc. Thankfully those guests were very helpful. It was easier to park out on the public street but the house is a couple of hundred yards up a narrow alleyway which means lots of trips to and from the car. I received a phone call from Host&Stay a few days before my trip saying I had to verify my identity and provide card details in case of any damage or buy cover for damage. I opted to buy cover which cost £25 and is not refunded. None of which I’ve ever had to do with airbNb before. Overall an ok stay, but being a chain property rather than a personal host lets it down.

The property is, bright, clean and modern with all the amenities you will need. Beds very comfortable and en suite very good. Within easy reach if numerous bars restaurants and lovely walk to the castle river area. Definitely recommend this place, its a bargain.

Very clean and well presented accommodation, great location for staying in Barnard Castle. Finding the property was a little tricky but my best advice is to drive up the covered ally between Galgate News and Castle Classics. The parking is a huge bonus, we had a great week (take tea towels) everything else is provided.

A really nice, cosy, comfortable home, centrally located and ideally placed to enable us to easily walk to the shops, restaurants and historic sites of Barnard Castle. Parking was available on site and there was free parking on the nearby streets making it easy to explore the local area beyond the town itself. The information our host provided prior to, and during, our stay was really useful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will look to stay here again whenever we return to the town.

A hidden gem. Close to the main street, but tucked away down a driveway, so very quiet. Parking space next to the property. Comfortably and stylishly furnished with a well equipped kitchen. Barnard Castle itself is historic, quaint, characterful, very friendly. We found some beautiful walks by the river, and enjoyed the local shops and market. We were visiting with our dog, who was very comfortable too and was made a fuss of by the locals every time we went out. Cafe round the corner recommended for full English breakfast. We hope to return!

No toilet paper, washing up liquid, bin liners, salt, pepper etc provided. Very limited range of kitchen utensils. Bins outside overflowing. Random door in the kitchen leading into an external garage which wouldn’t lock. Tap fixture not properly fitted. Very overpriced - would not recommend.
