My party and I booked this property for 3 days to attend a wedding in Barnard Castle. The property was absolutely fantastic. It was very well kept, had lovely decor, was easy to access, very central, very clean, had fantastic amenities, and felt very homely. We could not fault the property if we tried. The hosts were fantastic, very on the ball with clear instructions for check-in/check-out and provided us with a list of restaurants, takeaways, and things to do in the area by way of maps, takeaway menus etc in the property. The property had everything we needed, was very reasonably priced, and the hosts were more than happy to help with anything we wanted. We frequently visit Barnard Castle to visit family and will no doubt be booking the property again on our next visit! Thanks for an amazing trip!

Lovely place to stay. Perfect for 4 adults and 1 dog. Had everything we needed. Our only niggle was the hot water for showers. Maybe a user manual would help. Would recommend the property.

Had a bit trouble finding the place as you have to drive through a really narrow corridor and despite being told there was I had nowhere to park my car The two large panes of glass either side of the front door need to be frosted so the neighbours can’t see you sitting enjoying a cuppa whilst wearing your pjs Sofa looks really good but very uncomfortable Great location once you find it, very quiet and has everything you need and it’s only a couple of minutes of that from pubs shops cafes and places to eat so please don’t be put off by what I’ve said above

Overall house is nice but was quite dusty, prior to coming here I read the reviews about hot water not working and messaged the host to make sure the issue had been resolved which they told me 100% the issue had been resolved, upon arrival we had just been on a long walk and wanted to shower… showers were cold, we had to shower in cold water as we had no choice and my 4 year old daughter. Host was very unhelpful regarding this problem, definitely would not stay at a place ran by host & stay again

The place itself clean and tidy generally good.Parking is impossible at the property so I parked on the road outside There was a problem with the hot water as other guests have mentioned.I was only there for two nights so no chance to rectify it.

We had no hot water for showers, I rang Airbnb who then got a maintenance man to ring us re the hot water, my husband is a plumber so when through what was happening and the maintenance chap said we had done what he would do so we needed a gas engineer, who could not arrive until Monday morning, we checked out on Sunday morning. The batteries in the TV and DVD remotes were flat so could not watch TV/DVDs. Airbnb rang us at 8.15am on Sunday morning, thinking they were ringing the maintenance guy, woke the whole house up. Total disaster, the place was clean, good location but lack of hot water and batteries totally spoilt it. The bathroom floor was also lifting, probably due to a leak somewhere, the place needs some money spending on it by the current owners.

Very nice place to stay. House well presented and very clean. Check in and out was smooth. Really quiet and easy to find. Host & Stay keep me up to date with everything. Very pleased, had a great stay.

Great little spot. Only negatives really was the non-existent WiFi which meant TV was unusable due to it only offering streaming facilities. Had to park on the road all weekend which wasn’t an issue as plenty of spots available. Everything was top class. Would recommend if they can sort the WiFi.

Great place to visit Great place to stay overall very happy but and there is always a but despite numerous reviews about the lack of hot water dating back a long time nothing has been done about it which is a crying shame you've got a great product there don't spoil it fix it having said that it's a lovely place

Really dirty with long hairs all over shower, dust on all surfaces,surge stains on bedsheets, microwave full of curry. Parking terrible. Really cold and water like warm. Would not recommend.

The place was amazing and such a comfortable stay. The only disappointment was that we believed there would be tea/ coffee provided. In addition the showers were so cold despite checking the hot water was on. We did try to contact host and stay for support but didn’t get a call back. Such a shame because the property was beautiful and in a great location

The stay in cottage was great lovely cottage, nice and clean, but only problem i had there was no hot water coudnt get a shower no instructions were boiler was,but everything else was perfect

A few issues which weren’t sorted - probably because it’s run by a company not the individual owner(s). Dishwasher already labelled saying - maintenance have been but it’s broken don’t use. 1 bedroom had a broken blind so little privacy or sleep from sunrise. 1 en-suite floor in need of repair. Windows hard to reach and open.

A great stay in a lovely property in Barnard Castle, but it was tainted by misleading fees for a damage waiver or damage deposit which are payable through a third party website, which I've never come across on AirBnB before. Check in and Check out times could be more flexible too. Overall, not the personal experience you get with other AirBnB's unfortunately (i.e. they left 4 teabags for 4 people staying for 2 days).

The airbnb was adequate at best. It does state in the description that there is a £250 "damage deposit" or a £25 "damage waiver" but this could be cleaner in the breakdown of price. As lots of other reviews mention the bedrooms both have skylights - so you'll wake up when the sun does. Blinds could be installed or an eye mask provided. There is no information about the local area or recommendations, this very much feels like a soulless agency run airbnb with a poor landlord bodge job vibe. Lots of handles are loose and the walls are very scuffed. The bathroom wasn't clean in my ensuite and there was a large skid mark in the toilet which was really unappealing. There were also cobwebs everywhere and several large spiders in the rooms. The cups and glasses were mostly dirty and had a thick coating of dust on them. Barnard Castle however is a truly lovely area.

Enjoyed our stay here while we attended a wedding nearby. Very responsive communication and the apartment was furnished with everything we needed. A few slightly frustrating parts too though, such as the lack of blinds covering the skylights in the bedrooms, the 10am checkout (which seems to have stayed a thing post Covid), and the somewhat hidden mandatory insurance costs.

The house is very pleasant, modern and comfortable, well stocked with crockery etc although there were only 3 glasses in each set for 4 people! Unfortunately the hot water in the shower was only lukewarm which was not a pleasant experience on a cold, damp and extremely wet break. The hosts did respond very quickly and sent an engineer however this did not fix the temperature of the shower. Still lukewarm. There is a skylight without a blind in both bedrooms, resulting in early morning wake-ups which is slightly frustrating when you are on a mini break. If you can’t fix blinds supply eyemasks!! Or recommend you take them. Other than these little irritations, the house is ideal for a break in Barnard Castle; location is ideal. Lovely cafe next door to the house and castle, shops, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. “Barney”folk are very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely place in a great location in Barnard Castle. Huge flaw in the bedrooms - the huge skylights in the roof of both bedrooms with no curtains/blinds. If you're a light sleeper then bring an eye mask - we were there in the middle of summer with our 14 month old who is quite a light sleeper, and as it didn't get dark til 2200 and then got light again at 0430 we didn't get much sleep.

we had a great time at this property, perfect location and good facilities. TV is streaming only which isnt really a problem but suppose we get used to freeview channels.

Place was fine - for prospective renter, make sure you have appreciated the very high cleaning charge and also the fact that the hosts make you either pay a £25 insurance policy for any breakages or lodge a massive security deposit. In my opinion, goes against the ethos of AirBnb and didn't reflect the profile of the renters. a couple in their 50s renting a place for a long weekend is slightly different to a group of lads on a stag do.

We had a lovely stay here and I thought the place looked even better than the photos. Immediately felt at home here. Easy check in, good communication, modern interiors. I would have happily stayed a whole week.

Was OK. Location is wonderful and the accommodation is well equipped and modern. Let down by cleanliness/maintenance in bathroom (assume 3rd party cleaner) and parking not as described, although parking on street is no problem.

This is a lovely house in a great town centre location with loads of amenities nearby. Great for exploring the area, or even just spending time in Barnard Castle which is a nice town. The Bowes Museum is fantastic.
