Central to town

Dirty on arrival, used tissues left on top of the stairs, stained bed linen, dirty mirrors, dirty cutlery, toothpaste stains all around the basins, and needed a good hoovering through out.
Although it mentions about stairs in the property description there are too many stairs for the older clients (60 steep and narrow steps in total). We are in our late sixties and If we had known this before hand we wouldn’t have booked it.

The shower tray was slippy, and it didn't have a rubber slip proof matt. The shower is good, though.

The location was great and made it easy to explore the area.

The property was not as clean as expected on arrival, and the sofa was very uncomfortable, which affected our ability to relax. We contacted host and stay on arrival but are still waiting for a response.. I would not stay here again or recommend it.

Quite a good layout. Reasonably well equipped. Clean and comfortable.

The Stairs! We were forewarned that the apartment was on the top floor, but did not expect 65 steps from the roadway to the bedroom level! This property is definitely not suitable for people with limited mobility. The property description should highlight this more specifically and strongly! The shower tray is very slippery when wet. A non slip mat should be provided.

Mattress on beds were not the most comfortable but ok for 1-2 nights. Not enough towels although this was resolved. Shower poor design, lack of end glass enclosure means you need to keep the shower very low or it sprays all over the bathroom

The apartment itself is lovely, clean, great bathroom and kitchen facilities, very comfortable and interior pics are accurate …… however ……

The external pic on Booking.com is of the house next door. The building the apartment is in (along with several neighbouring buildings) looks run down. The ground floor window is part covered by overgrown shrubs in the small front garden which is maybe as well because the tea-coloured nets give the impression it is not lived in 🤷‍♀️ This apartment is at the top of the building is up five flights of stairs - and when you walk in through the door to the building, you notice the fire alarm hasn’t been serviced (or stickered as serviced) since April last year (not reassuring)

Parking was a nightmare,
Very few spaces so had to park at nearest carpark, walked with luggage and the steps up to floor 4, also had to pay 20 pound for car park.
Please check your booking had to pay another 250.00 damage fee, wouldn’t let us in to then, which we did get 240.00 back a week later. Lacks the host, agency management!!!!

Lovely Apartment However unfortunately it was Apartment 4 -( this apartment was on the top floor about 8 flights of stairs???) and it really wasn’t as clean as it really should have been having said that the apartment has everything you needed for a short break ! Just the stairs weren’t great and housekeeping needs a shake up 😬

The view

The toilet waste in the upstairs bathroom had not been removed from the previous guests,I reported this every day to the host team but no one came yo remove it..I sent them a final email telling them how disgusted I was which they only replied with an apology again..
The bannister and hand rails were very dirty and the bin lids..The landing was narrow and smelt..There was only three plate and cup settings for four people.
Would never stay again..
If the property was cleaned and maintained properly it would be ideal as the layout in the apartment is good..

Great location with everything easily accessed by walking.
Very comfy beds and the addition of the tower fan was greatly welcomed.
Great value for money!

The hallways in the building are dark and damp smelling.
In the harbour facing bedroom there are 4 windows but only 2 blinds, with it getting light in the early hours I didn’t have a great nights sleep.
The seagulls are so loud and the windows do not block the sound, be sure to pack earplugs!

Too many cushions! and could do with an extra table, sofa, chest in living room. Bedrooms could use some extra storage and coat hangers. Parking nearby is possible but difficult in busy periods. Reported no hairdryer on 1st night and was told Housekeeping team would sort one for the next day (and next day after that when we chased them again) but it never arrived. I wouldn’t use Host & Stay again as I object to the deposit subsequently charged for potential damage (£10 admin fee) or £25 for a measly £500 of cover

Superb location. Close enough to city center but far enough to be quiet.

Gorgeously designed bathroom.
Amazingly spacious bedrooms.
Very nice kitchen.

Dark staircase occasionally (sensors did not always work. Not sure if this is allowed from safety point of view)

Impractical bathroom, no room to place anything once more than one person needs to use it. Needed to put stuff on the floor.

Extremely slippery shower floor. The latter is really an issue, this is a safety risk!

The advert stated 2 flights of stairs. There were actually 4 flights plus another up to the bedrooms!!!!! Father has COPD and angina, this was very problematic and we felt the listing was not accurately described. Father was therefore poorly and impacted our holiday.
Only 3 mugs (4 people staying)
One mug was dirty yet in the cupboard.
T pot was also dirty yet in the cupboard
Cutlery in the drawer had food residue on some items.
Microwave front was dirty with greasy finger marks.

There was a used coffee pod by the side of the coffee machine.
The bathroom on arrival had an awful smell of musty stagnant water (cloth’s or mops that have dried whilst screwed up, then used, leaving the musty smell, no window in the bathroom).
The front bedroom has two end windows with no blinds or curtains so we were woken up at 4am with the blinding sunlight.
No sockets by mirror in rear bedroom , unable to use hairdryer whilst looking at what I was doing drying my hair. Same when straightening.
Smell in the kitchen was like the sea but not in a good way, probably drains?
Sofa very uncomfortable. Green chair’s uncomfortable, dining chair rocky and unsafe.
Plastic jug in kitchen cupboard was covered in remnant foods and stained!
Black scuff marks on lounge wall, black mark on right hand inside arm of sofa.
Shower when turned on fires water across the bathroom!! This needs a screw in the shower head arm to stop the water pressure lifting the shower head upright!

The property was really lovely, it was spacious and comfortable. The property was fully equipped and decorated and furnished to a good standard. The property afforded really good views.
We had an issue with one of the windows not closing, this was dealt with by the property maintenance within an hour of contacting them.

The property was on the top floor, which meant a lot of stairs to climb which were quite difficult to navigate especially with luggage.

No Hairdryer.. Such a pain! After a few days they said we cd buy one & leave there & refund but shouldn't have to go through this hassle as it was stayed we should have one!!! Also a party of 4 ..3 mugs!!! And 3 coat hangers between us all!!! All these things should be checked before arrivals and after!! Host & stay say they were deeply sorry...but nothing was done about it!

The property is located over 2 floors on the 3rd floor/4th floor of the property so is no good for anyone with any mobility issues and I’m not sure this is clear in the info!
The corridors/stairs up to the property are quite damp/in need of some attention however when you get into the property it is lovely!
We were party of 4 adults however there were only 3 mugs, 3 plates and 3 knives and forks! I alerted the property management company who apologised and said they would try resolve but didn’t, hence we had to wash up constantly/share pots, not really a great experience!
the front bedroom needs some blinds as it’s very bright when the sun rises!
the shower needs to be turned on very carefully or it jumps out of its bracket and sprays the whole bathroom (and you)!
also not hooks/rails to hang any towels!

Apartment is on the 4th floor. There is no mention of this anywhere in there listing. Apartment was set up for three people not four as booked. Living room windows on the forth floor opened fully to a sheer drop. No safety feature on them and we couldn't close one of the windows. We went with elderly parents, one has dementia so we had to move furniture to block access to the faulty window. We left after one night as the four flights of stairs and the unsafe windows were to much to cope with. We rang that night and the next day to inform them. we have had no reply from Host and Stay since we left two weeks ago.

Great location with spectacular view of Whitby harbour and the steam train

Lots of steep narrow steps. Definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The apartment was very clean and modern but the entrance to the building let it down as was quite grubby and smelly.

The shower needs urgent attention as the water pressure is set so high the shower head flips back and sprays water everywhere! There is nowhere to hang a towel in any of the bathrooms nor anywhere to place toiletries in the shower. This would have been helpful.

The master bedroom is the nicest space with comfy bed and beautiful views across Whitby harbour. Being able to watch the steam train coming and going directly outside our window was an absolute highlight.

The double bed in the second bedroom is two singles pushed together so there is a very uncomfortable join down the middle. A mattress topper might eliminate this problem.

The apartment is in a great location although there's no parking allocated for this property. We managed to find a free parking space just a 5 minute walk away for our whole stay and there were more available at the time.

Literally a 5 minute walk into the town to a good sized Co-op and the local shops and harbour. There are a few flights of stairs to get up to the apartment, in a narrow shared stairway but the views from the apartment make it all worth the effort! The place was pretty clean and well equipped generally.

The living room furniture was a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom had previous guest's hair on the floor behind the door.

The quilt cover on one of the beds was torn .Both toilet seats were loose .Shower bracket was broken False finger nail on the floor in sitting room .Not ours .In all everything was nice but just needed a good clean .l have been intouch with Hoist and stay and they were putting it all right

Ideally located near a grocery store, the train station, and close to lots of places to eat.
Only a 5 min walk and you are in the town centre.
Lovely views overlooking the harbour area.

Hooks to hang things (particularly in bathrooms / bedrooms) needed.
Waste bins in bedrooms / lounge area would be useful.
Bedrooms a little under furnished ; a wardrobe / chest of drawers would be welcomed.

Accommodation on top floor of property, if you have mobility problems would struggle to access accommodation. Maybe owners to consider letting pets stay at accommodation.

The location for the centre of Whitby was perfect & had the most amazing views.

That we wasn’t aware you couldn’t park outside the apartment. We had to drive half a mile away to find somewhere that didn’t require a permit or to pay. Luckily we bumped into some locals ( before we saw the sign) as we pulled up & told us we can’t park there or we would get a fine 😬.

Just back from a lovely stay here. The apartment is beautiful . My only feedback would be its at the top of 5 flights of stairs, for me it wasn't a problem but my friend has arthritis in her knees so struggled , had we have known this we wouldn't of booked, we literally went out in the morning an couldn't come back till we were going to be staying in as she couldn't face the stairs more than once a day and then she really struggled . Great location, great apartment but not for the less able persons , you'd also struggle with little ones with prams etc .

The fact it was right at the top of 5 flights of stairs. Oh and the noisy seagulls ftom 4am but that can't be helped at the seaside.

A lovely and spacious, externally period apartment, with modern finish and furnishings throughout. An excellent location with a superb view, very convenient for the station, shops and all visitor attractions.

There is a bad smell at times on the stairs up to the apartment. Fortunately this does not show itself once inside, but it does detract from the generally excellent presentation. We would however, happily use this apartment again.

The property is located towards the top of an old building so carrying a toddler with a buggy up the cramped, dark stairs was a little tricky but not a deal breaker.

Great location. Less than 5 minutes to supermarket, train station and centre. Amazing views over the harbour to the Abbey.
Apartment is lovely. Everything you need is there. Spacious and being over 2 floors is a bonus.
Parking can be found around. We were lucky to get a space on the street just up the hill but there are car parks not far away.

The blinds dont do much in the front bedroom other than block the view when closed. They do nothing for light so it's a very bright room.

The location is excellent. Less than a five minute walk to the bus station, the town and a Co-op. The train station is opposite too but we never actually saw any trains so I don’t know if these run very often. The apartment was spotless and spacious, spread over two floors with two large bedrooms. The kitchen had everything that we needed. The apartment is well furnished with modern furniture and ornaments and is very comfortable. There are views of Whitby Abbey from the front bedroom. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. Whitby is lovely with lots to do, and this apartment was the perfect place to stay. There is no parking with the apartment but we managed to get a space in the road outside which was free. Despite its relative closeness to the town, there was no noise at night.

The only slight negative would be that the communal entrance and stairs are a little scruffy but don’t let this put you off. The flat itself is lovely. And a towel rail in the bathroom would be handy!

Apartment was excellent and extremely clean. We travel quite a lot and this was by far the cleanest property we have stayed in. Our gripes are really minor and we would certainly stay again.

No hooks for towels in either bathroom, and limited storage for toiletries (i.e. shower caddy). Shower wasn’t hot enough for our liking. Entrance and stairwell a little dated and very tired looking (not a good first impression, but apartment made up for it). Having to unload on double-yellows! Lack of dedicated parking slot. Just a note: the wi-fi password on the table is incorrect; I found the correct one on the card in the back of the modem.

The accommodation is in a good location a few minutes walk from the main town. The bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom were modern, clean and all fine. There was milk coffee and tea available which was useful when we arrived.

The furniture in the lounge should be re-arranged as it is cramped with the table and sofa so close together as the lounge is a little on the small side.

The shower screen is open at one end so by the time the 4 of us had showered there was water all over the floor which wasn't a pleasant experience.

The stairs up to the apartment were not that inviting.

There was no Wifi in the property which we were aware of before going, however, this was missed as it is a vital modern day requirement.

The parking mentioned is not available other than for drop off and has a maximum stay of an hour. We parked at the train station which you need the app for and it cost £30 for 3 days.
