We had a wonderful stay at this amazing property. The accommodation was perfect for us; ample open plan space, beautiful outside area including a hot tub and super comfortable beds. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals with ease. We were very relaxed here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

What a beautiful property and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The owners were friendly and easy to talk too when they helped us with the hot tub. Just and Stay were excellent communicators and where quick and easy to reply when needed. We as a family of 4 had a great break and would definitely recommend this property.

We had a fantastic stay at this vacation house with friends. The place was very clean, well-maintained, and finished to a really high standard. The rooms were comfortable, and the whole house had everything we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming, which made the experience even better. A special mention to their dog, Oscar – he was incredibly friendly and fun to be around! He did have a playful habit of “borrowing” anything left on the patio, but it just added to the charm and gave us a few laughs. The surrounding area was also lovely and peaceful. Overall, a great place to stay – we would definitely come back!

If you want space, peace, views and modern accommodation within easy reach of amenities this place is perfect. The accommodation is huge, all modern and loads of outdoor space too. It’s perfect for families… bring bikes (lots of straight easy roads) and outdoor toys, there is a huge lawn right in front of the hot tub with a view! Inside the main living space is huge, it has 2 tables - one for eating, one for games and loads of running round space for toddlers etc. Washing machine, tumble dryer in a utility room for coats etc. The adults bedroom upstairs is a real treat, huge bed, armchairs, bath with a view and a balcony. Downstairs bedroom is spacious with an en-suite. Others have mentioned dirty glasses and windows - it wasn’t immaculate and if you’re wanting 5 star sterile environment it might not meet expectations but it’s a self build that has had a lot of energy and care poured into it and was fantastic for our family.

This was a great place to stay in, location was amazing with a great view off of the balcony. Hosts were lovely sending updates before arrival and then checking in on us to make sure everything was okay. Would 100% recommend this to anyone even with family as was games in the place as well.

An absolutely stunning house. Beautiful furniture, comfortable beds, amazing views, and sublime hot tub. A fantastic little retreat. The place did need a really good clean in places - windows were really in need of attention, some mirrors etc hadn’t seen a duster in a while, and the soap dispensers in the shower need to be replaced. However, didn’t affect our enjoyment of the place. We will definitely be back!

This was a beautifully displayed property as pictured however when arriving inside the place was infested with flies. Crawling over plates and cutlery, beds, walls and floors. Being in the property less than a minutes and they were all over us and we had to leave immediately. The host was aware and unhelpful saying he turned on the fly zapper before we got there but it was clear there was a bigger issue with the amount in the property. We also arrived to find the blinds closed and when opened was clear it was because there was a scaffolding erected along main view windows which is why we chose a property in country for pleasant views. Again not mentioned at any point of booking. We had to then located a property at 5pm in the evening after travelling all day with a 2 year old, 5 year old and elderly mum. We had 3 days worth of food wasted as we had no fridge and had to a cell activities booked as were not in the area staying anymore. Having to cancel our break away.

House and scenery were stunning. All the furniture inside was excellent quality and the downstairs was very open and welcoming. All amenities were there that you needed There were some issues which were dealt with separately So peaceful in hot tub listening to the birds It was great to see that the house looked exactly like it did in photographs It was a lovely touch the John came to welcome me and make sure I knew where everything was or how it worked

The place was spacious and stylish and it was located in a peaceful location. The views of the stunning countryside were spectacular and was so nice to wake up to from the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. We had a power cut on day 2 and the WiFi went off. We contacted host and stay and within the hour it was sorted by the owner. The hot tub was so relaxing and made our stay so relaxing. Will definitely be back

Lovely accommodation, very spacious and lots of options for seating areas. Main bedroom suite is incredible. Nice to spend evenings in the hot tub with the beautiful views. A few things needing changed (mostly what people had written in previous reviews). I have discussed this with Host & Stay separately and they seemed open to the suggestions so hopefully the issues don't arise for future guests. Overall a very lovely accommodation, just needing a few finishing touches to make the trip 5 stars.

The house was very spacious for the four of us. Unfortunately, it wasn't as clean as you would expect. There was mould around the shower edges and tooth paste splatters along the wooden edging in the bathroom. The floor was dirty and there were visible gatherings of dust. The table was laid beautifully but dust was on the plates and glasses. The hot tub wasn't clean enough to use as it had scum round the edges and sand on the seats and at the bottom. The owner did come and change the water when we contacted him, however, the treatment of the hot tub was down to us. This added a lot of stress to our holiday as we couldn't get the test strips to show it was safe to use. The main bed had a dip in which made it uncomfortable to sleep in. There was a leak in the large windows panes when it rained leaving pools of water to mop up. We found this review hard to write as we haven't ever left negative feedback on any of our holidays but for the price we paid, we expected better quality.

Good location, initial thoughts great place BUT - mould in showers, bed linen and covers stained, main bed broken and clear had been for some time. Broken bed held up by a block of wood. Kitchen gadgets poor quality and lack any thought and day to day needs. Very disappointing Due to filthy conditions didn’t use hot tub.

We loved our stay at The Gathering. Since arriving on day 1, the instructions for the property were straight forward and concise. Once checked in, we were greeted by the owner, John, who was very polite and made us feel at home. Any issue or query he helped us with as well as recommendations of the local area. The property was better than we imagined, with beautiful high ceilings in the lounge and a nice balcony to have a peaceful on. Our stay was for 2 nights and we found that we were able to optimise the property and facilities in this time. With it being so close to Belsay, Matfen and Ponteland, there was plenty to do and explore during the day time. The check out process was easy and instructions were given the night before just to confirm details and answer any queries we did have. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with all the facilities someone would need.

The interior was gorgeous, looks just like the photos very spacious but still cosy! If you’re going in winter deffo pack some warm clothes and cozy pjs! What an amazing place to spend a relaxing weekend. We wanted somewhere to switch off and found exactly that. Beautiful house with light coming in through all the huge windows with amazing views. We had a lovely stay in the gathering. Our first family holiday with our 6 month old and there was lots of space for everything. We would highly recommend staying at the gathering for many reason. The hosts were great, the sheer space in the place is incredible yet it still feels homely. It was nice and quiet. Having a coffee on the balcony felt very peaceful. We loved our stay and we will hopefully be returning in the future.

We had the most beautiful weekend. When we arrived the host was making sure everything was ok and even offered us fresh eggs from their own hens on the grounds. The house was beautiful and the views were stunning. We were able to relax in the hot tub in the evenings and it felt very private. We were also able to make all of our meals in the kitchen which had everything we needed. We could relax with a movie in the living room area in the evenings. I would highly recommend staying in this house. The hosts were very friendly but also not intrusive at all but made sure we had everything we needed. They also had plenty of recommendations for things to do in the area which was very helpful. We would definitely return

I really can't recommend The Gathering enough if you're looking at a base for exploring Northumberland. Nestled in a beautifully peaceful setting, and with every provision you could ask for, you won't be disappointed! There's plenty to explore in the surrounding area to keep you occupied during the day, as well as soaking the evening away come rain or shine in the covered hot tub. The hosts are extremely friendly, with a lot of local knowledge and ideas of places to visit. Would highly recommend this destination, and wouldn't think twice about returning for another stay

When we arrived in the Sunday the first thing we did was turn on the hot tub but noticed that the water was very murky and had a bit of a sulphur smell coming from the filter, we decided to use it anyway but on the Tuesday we saw the owners and told them that it could do with either cleaning out or some chlorine added as the box supplied in the box was empty. We said that we would be out all day Wednesday so it would be good if it could be ready to use for Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday evening my wife bumped into the owners and they said that they would have to empty the hot tub Friday morning ready for the new customers staying after us and said that 'someone will have to miss out unfortunately' So for the entire time we were there nothing was done with it and was only checked because we told them that it wasn't clean. This put a real damper on the holiday for the rest of the week as we specifically paid over £200 a day.

We arrived at The Gathering and on first glance the place was stunning and we were very excited. When I went to explore upstairs the large blind across the double doors was down which I thought was strange as the other smaller blind was up. I went to open the blind and the beads to pull it up fell into my hand they were not attached. I reported this immediately to Host and Stay. The owner arrived to look the following morning and said he wouldn’t be able to fix it. This was very disappointing as the blind being down meant we couldn’t enjoy the view from the first floor balcony. The cleanliness of the lodge was exceptionally disappointing, there are stains all over the inside of the windows and evident dirt and dust on the glass light shades above the kitchen island. The hot tub which was the main reason we booked the place did not smell right and when we checked the filter it was all orange and a build up of dirt. This meant after the first day it had a strong smell of sewages

The Gathering was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We loved hearing the birds and having no disturbances. Don't stay there is you want to be close to amenities as it is a fair step to the nearest shop. That said, we knew this and loved it. We found it a great place to stay and visit lots of places whilst 'up North'! We loved the hot tub and generally the space. We really enjoyed our stay at The Gathering and felt at home. Thank you for making our stay lovely.

An absolutely beautiful place to stay - wonderful barn conversion - stunning countryside - thrilled to see it had been used during an episode of 'Vera' - met John who was great and answered my many questions about the filming!!!!! However although the house was stunning and very clean - there were areas that were not as clean as you would expect - loads of cobwebs , dirty windows, outside table dirty - and a real shortage of basics. ( only one dishwasher tablet , no store cupboard items that most Airbnb seem to provide ( spray oil etc) - it was also difficult as the Host company only seemed to respond overnight which made some communication difficult! We stayed during a very hot weekend( unexpected!) and because there was a problem with the doors we only had a kitchen window to open - I think a fan downstairs might come in handy this summer. However these are all small points - loved the house and our stay. thank you .

Nice and spacious kitchen, living room and dining space perfect for family gatherings and relaxing. Close to Hadrian’s wall and other Roman ruins for a day trip. There are some decent restaurants and shops in Ponteland which is about 15 minutes away.

We originally had the gathering booked Friday to Monday but were notified of the availability of the Wednesday and Thursday so we took the opportunity to check in a night early! Made all the difference extending the weekend, a beautiful property, clean with comfy beds! Everything needed was provided, even fresh eggs from the chickens! Close to the city but far enough away to feel remote! Definitely recommended!

The Gathering is a fantastic place to stay. The building has clearly been converted to a high standard, it is well designed, beautifully finished and presented with lovely views over the countryside. this place is amazing! the host comes with our highest recommendation. it's only once you're actually there that you get a true sense of the scale of this place, the standard of finish, calculation and level of attention to detail given to the decor and setting. everything here, at first seemingly simple, presents itself in lingering retrospect as an understated statement piece. the price - so competitive. I think this amongst the most accessible, value-added and satisfying properties you could stay in that are available to this standard and in this area on air b'n'b thankyou so much and we are hoping to return again in the future.

Just back home from a 3 nights stay at John & Lynda’s place. The house is massive and feels even more spacious that what it looked like in the pictures. The location is very private and the hosts were very helpful. Minor issue on the first day with the plug in the bathroom sink that was broken but this was fixed by John the following morning. We would book again. Worth it for the space, views and of course the hot tub.

Beautiful place, amazing decor & very tranquil. Host made sure we were ok on our first night and dropped off fresh eggs which were very welcome. A bottle of prosecco was waiting for us also which was a lovely gesture, table was all beautifully set for our first meal. Plenty of tea/coffee/some milk sachets, detergents and additional shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathrooms. Hot tub was great.Would highly recommend this place, it does feel very special. I'll drfinitely stay here again

We had the most wonderful stay at The Gathering. The house is absolutely stunning (exactly like the pictures!), the hot tub was very clean and always warm. Absolutely could not fault it whatsoever! Lynne and John were also both lovely, very friendly people who despite living next door respected our privacy and left us to it. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay, we will 100% be back (maybe next time we’ll book The Parlour, too!)

It’s a huge space for 4 people. Beds were super comfy and we had a great night sleep. Hot tub was brilliant. Would defo recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing weekend away. Well stocked generally although cleaning spray and some more dishwasher tablets would have been really helpful. Also, we found some of the cooking equipment was a bit limited - only a small frying pan etc. Very minor though issue though. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

I stayed at this air bnb with my boyfriend and firstly would like to say that it is STUNNING, we travelled over 6 hours there and were not disappointed. The home is clean, the space is vast, the decor is top tier and the VIEW from the bedroom is unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is tranquil, calm, and the people who stay there are lovely too! All in all it is an absolute pleasure there and was a great experience. My only slight disappointment was the internet, it didn't work from the moment we arrived which made sorting out plans quite difficult. We did call both numbers that were given, left a text message and contacted host and stay, who did respond back with a generic response but never actually got back to us with a resolution. This did leave us without any form of internet for the whole duration of our stay which for the money paid I don't think is unacceptable.

A lovely place, with a hottub. Great things, much space, great beds, lots of towels, lookout over the fields, fresh eggs delivered on our doorstep, friendly owner. When you pay this amount you expect evertything to be perfect. Based on that expectation, we have the following things that could receive more attention: wifi didn’t work, the house was not clean everywhere toothbrush holders had toothpaste, refrigerator had staints, in drawers there were hairs of former visitors.

Had a lovely stay here! Beautiful accommodation and very helpful and friendly hosts! Even brought us fresh eggs one morning. The only issue we had was there were a lot of flies around and we had to spend a lot of time trying to get rid of them. The owners knew about this as had a fly catching device on but we were not told about it and did not have much to get rid of them with apart from a half empty bottle of fly spray. Apart from that the stay was brilliant!

Positives -Beautiful location and the building has been refurbished to a very good standard. Incredible views out to the remoteness of the fields. /Some thoughtful touches on arrival (eg Prosecco) and eggs for which many thanks Negatives -The management company managing the building were generally pretty unhelpful. We had requested upon booking for a king bed as outlined in the Airbnb listing but sadly got two singles which was only sorted out on the penultimate night. For the price we paid, this should have been sorted much sooner - Significant lack of cleaning products. We had one dishwasher tablet for four nights and no surface sprays which made it difficult to keep it clean. The floors were also quite dirty upon arrival and rubbish had been left in the kitchen from previous guests.

The Gathering was a beautiful place to get away to. It's well decorated, spacious and immaculately tidy. The host was very welcoming and although they lived next door they were not intrusive. Just note that it is quite remote so you will need to drive some distance for local amenities but dont let this detract from this gem in the countryside.

A very beautiful living room (beautiful volume and ceiling height) and a very comfortable large master bedroom. The jacuzzi is really very large and of good quality. I would recommend to those wishing to rest in the countryside.

Superb find, exceeded our expectations, a home from home feel. Great hosts, nice bottle of fizz on arrival - thank you! The main bedroom was amazing, with a bath in the room placed perfectly for viewing the surroundings. Overall a perfect few days, highly recommended, will definitely be our go to place for future visits to the area.

Wonderful weekend away. The place was beautiful. Clean, comfortable and lovely views! Really good communication with the host and all amenities you would need. We used as a base to visit some of the amazing places around, such as Beamish, Newcastle, Cragside and Warkworth. I would definitely stay here again!

Lovely stay at The Gathering with our children 12, 11 and 1 in February 2023. Really nicely appointed accommodation with everything you could need! John and Lynne the owners were very happy to help, and brought us a highchair over for our little one. If travelling with a baby you will need to bring your own travel cot. Would definitely recommend!!

This is a beautiful property, that is furnished and equipped to the highest of standards. The photos are accurate but the sense of space feels even bigger! Little touches everywhere and the friendly host made for a lovely relaxing stay. Definitely one to recommend! Thank you.

We had the BEST time at the gathering! The house itself was stunning, spotless and just a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. The hot tub alone was a wonderful amenity but on top of that the view whilst using it was spectacular! Lynne was so lovely and friendly! We just loved it, we hope to come back soon! 😁

Beautiful accommodation with heaps of activities on the doorstep (Michelin star Pine restaurant, Matfen Hall Spa and Golf, Go Ape, paintball, etc) and Newcastle-upon-Tyne is only 30 mins drive, if you can bring yourself to leave these beautiful surroundings. Really friendly and responsive hosts. Can't recommend this place enough. Will definitely return.

+ Very nice, spacious property (looks just like the pictures) + Lovely, comfortable stay + Very comfortable furniture and beds + Towels, toiletries, dishes, cookware provided + Large hot tub + Close to enough for a short drive to local cafe/deli and bar in Matfen + Only about 20 min drive from supermarkets etc in Hexham - A little bit far out if you want shops/pubs within walking distance - There was an additional fee (or large deposit) required to cover for accidental damage which is not mentioned before you book - it would have been better if this was included with the initial fees or, at least, mentioned in advance

Beautiful cottage. Really well equipped and very helpful hosts. Cottage gets 5*. We found host and stays security checks unexpected and unnerving. We recieved multiple texts from different phone numbers. These were clearly incomplete and unhelpful.

The couple who stay next to the property were lovely, place and location was fantastic with a half an hour drive to Newcastle, Place was nice until the last day, electric kept tripping and we rang the number on the messages and the service received was very bad, women on the phone was very patronising and not helpful and advise it would take hours for maintenance to come out resulting in us having no electricity

A truly gorgeous place to stay. Our family loved our stay here. There's not a soul to be seen from the view on the balcony and the hot tub. It was so relaxing and John was so thoughtful bringing us fresh hens eggs and making sure we were comfortable.

Check in and property information all very efficient. Amazing property, well equipped and the welcome gift of fizz was a lovely surprise. John & Lynne are great hosts and if you like eggs, do ask for some as they have chickens on-site and they’re fab. The hot tub is great too. Tip - if you want the 2 single beds put together to make one larger bed, try and give a few days notice so the message can be passed through. Highly recommended!

Incredible place to stay! I would recommend to everyone, it’s just perfect. Amazing spaces to spread out in and the jacuzzi is the icing on the cake! The view is beautiful, the vibe is very luxurious. It was probably the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in too. I’ve never rated a bar stool so high before! Couldn’t fault it!!

Communications were good, I think a management company handles most of the correspondence. It was very easy to collect the key and 'check in'. The house is really big, light and spacious, with views of the stunning surrounding countryside. There is an excellent kitchen and we were given an arrival bottle of procecco. There are two bedrooms and a sofa bed, in the main living room. We took the main bedroom, with enuite and large balcony overlooking the countryside. The bed was very comfortable with quality bedding. They provided a wonderful hottub which we enjoyed throughout our stay and used it every day. The house is joined to another property that can also be rented out, which is connected by a dividing door, so we did hear some of the other people at times. The garden area is also shared by the other house, however we rarely saw them as the house is designed that the outdoor area faces away and on the other side of the join. The views of the countryside beyond are lovely. Lynn and John (owners) seemed lovely, and came to say hello and also brought some home laid eggs to eat. Check out was a bit too early for my liking (10am) and it would have been nicer to be 11am or 12. Overall though, it was a wonderful stay and I would reccomend checking this place out!

Beautiful property, tucked out of the way. Spacious, clean and full of all of the mod cons. We had a day out to Bamburgh (hours drive) and Morpeth on the way home. Sat outside the pub on the way home that is 5 mins from the property (black bull or something similar) and that was really nice. Enjoyed a bit of luxury for a couple of days!

Other than an issue with the agency, which they sorted out to our satisfaction, this was perfect. Unlike other places we've stayed, it looked exactly like it did in the pictures. There was everything you needed and there was loads of space. The hot tub was a nice touch and the view was amazing. Would recommend.

We have never had such a relaxing break. Everything about The Gathering was perfect, the photographs cannot do justice to the quality of the conversion and the facilities. We shopped in Waitrose in Ponteland then parked the car at the house and totally chilled out, we went nowhere! The peace and tranquility, dark skies at night, absolute privacy and a lovely deep hot tub made for the most chilled out five days. We cooked everything from eggs Benedict to Tomahawk steaks in the amazing kitchen. The master bedroom suite is simply stunning as is the decor throughout the house. We simply could not have been happier. The hosts are delightful people who have thought of everything. We will definitely return to The Gathering, a little corner of paradise.

The only reason not to write a review would have been to keep this beautiful place as a secret place 😊 The house, the surroundings and the hosts Lynne and John, everything was fantastic. I have been to 5 star hotels on several continents but this house was certainly in the top 5. Every aspect from size to amenities to cleanliness was outstanding. I would like to thank Lynne and John again for their exceptional hospitality. I am already making plans to stay longer. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And to all e-car drivers: there is a working and reliable Type2 charger on site. Once again, thank you very much. Perfect location for a luxurious Northumberland stay! The views from the enormous hot tub, balcony and even the bath were truly spectacular and helped us to immediately relax in this peaceful setting. The Gathering was perfectly kitted out with everything you could need for a brilliant getaway in a brand new building. Communication, directions and support from the host was amazing throughout. It was a lovely touch to leave a letter, some milk, coffee pods and a bottle of Prosecco! Thank you so much for letting us stay, we look forward to coming back again!
