Great location and views, we love staying in this area of Whitby so we were very happy with that. Comfortable beds and the upstairs living area was nice.

The apartment needs a really good deep clean, there is black mold in the ensuite shower and the whole of the downstairs (sleeping area) felt and smelt damp and foisty often with a drain odour coming from the ensuite bathroom. Perhaps some kind of dehumidifier could help.
The carpets really need a clean, there are stains all over them, especially the living room one. I found a lot of dead flies and insects in the bedroom behind the sofa and the window sills and blinds needed cleaning. Many of the walls could do with a good touch up of paint. Outside the apartment was a dirty quilt, other rubbish and overgrown weeds, a shame as it could be a nice seating area for guests.
There was a dishwasher but no tablets so we couldn’t start it before we left.
The 2 previous years we have stayed at The Chiltern at Carlill House (another Host & Stay property) which was immaculate so this was definitely a disappointment especially as the break down of our bill stated a £60 cleaning fee! We also had free parking before which isn’t included at Beach View.
Reading other reviews it is clear that the cleaning and mold issues have not been addressed as they are mentioned in reviews from over 2 years ago. It’s a real shame as this could be such a lovely place to stay but we probably won’t book it again.

Our bathroom downstairs lino was ripped hence couldn't close door so couldn't use shower as there was 4people staying also we were supposed to check in at 4 had to ring round didn't get in apartment till 5pm

The location was great. The view to the park and the ocean view were wonderful!

The lock box for the keys was tricky. It took a few times to make it work.
There was very little dish soap, no dishwasher soap or laundry soap. When I texted the host about it, they said it was not provided. When I have traveled to other apartments, other accommodations provided some soap to use things like the dishwasher or washing machine if they are advertised as having them in the apartment. As someone who is only there for 4 nights, am I expected to provide my own soap? Also, the door on one of the bathrooms was too tall and caused the vinyl floor to rip when we shut the door. Host and Stay was very accommodating when we called to report it. It was stressful for us that it happened and seemed like the caretaker should have noticed it before.
Also, the address was not clearly marked. The name of the accommodation and the street number was listed on the building around the corner. We finally figured it out based on the address next door. The outside steps and entry had garbage (aluminum foil, paper wrappings, etc.) strewn on them. Other properties on the street were not like this. Not sure how often this property is checked for cleanliness. Inside was very clean.

Beach view was one amazing apartment with an outstanding view. We felt like celebrities as people on the hop on/off bus stared in when passing 😅. The apt had everything we needed and were thankful for the coffee and milk as we forgot to bring. Whitby locals are so lovely and welcoming and the smell of 'Fish & Chips' is everywhere around the centre. We loved the apt so much we stayed in the first evening with drinks and 2 delivery takeaways. 2nd night we. Went down the steps to the famous Magpie Cafe. We queued 45 mins but, wow, it was so worth it...delicous Cod and Scampi, oh and the other half loved their battered sausage supper. What a lovely town and this apt is so good my sister said she wants to retire and move in there.

The apartment was just as described, clean, well appointed, with everything we needed for our stay. It is the best accommodation we have stayed in in Whitby, and we have been coming for many years. The location and sea views were fantastic, the beds were comfy, the lounge, kitchen , diner were very spacious despite there being 4 of us, the apartment was warm even though it was December. The showers were great with plenty of hot water, lovely bedding and towels, and plenty of kitchen crockery, glasses, cutlery etc. The huge TV was great with plenty of channels, and WiFi excellent. As we were 2 couples it was great to have 2 bathrooms, this apartment would definitely be my first choice for our next visit, we could not find fault with any of it. This apartment more than met our expectations.

There was nothing we didn't like. This is a fantastic apartment and Host & Stay customer service were excellent.

Had to wash some of the glasses and cutlery before we used them. The blinds were greasy and full of dust. this didn’t spoil our holiday at all, but we were very disappointed

The cooker was dirty.
only one loo roll for 2 bathrooms.
This was however a perfect location and decorated stylishly.
Not happy about the waiver you have to sign before they release the check in details.A deposit should be 100'/, refundable.
They charge a £25.00 non refundable insurance fee or a £250.00 deposit which is refunded several weeks after your stay minus £10.00 admin.

Location was really good.

Property was very dirty when we arrived. I had to hoover the whole place as the carpets were covered in bits. Also the windowsills and tables looked like they had t been cleaned too

The location was fantastic, right on the sea front and just a short walk away from great places to eat, the town centre was a little further, but still within walking distance. Lovely sea view from the apartment ,it was very well equipped. Nice to see Yorkshire Tea in the tea caddy! Bed was very comfortable. We did like the upside down arrangement of the apartment as it made best use of the lovely view from the living space. would definitely stay here again, thank you for a lovely weekend.

The only thing we liked about the property was modern interior design and location.

We didn’t like almost everything. First thing we saw when we walked in to the property was the dirtiness of the apartment. The coffee table was full of cup stains. The sofa was dirty , full of sand. We had to vacuum it, before we could sit down on it. Spider webs were hanging from the ceiling. The windows were that dirty we could barely see the outside. Both bathrooms were dirty and smelled very unpleasant. There were hair and stains in a bathtub. There was girt on the toilet lid, which I found disgusting. The apartment felt damp and smelled like mould. Thankfully the bedsheets were clean. Carpet on the staircase was that dirty , we were afraid to walk on it barefoot. We were very disappointed. If you are planning to stay at the apartment, make sure you bring cleaning products.

Beautiful building on top of the cliff side, 5 minutes walk down hill/steps to the main Harbour & attractions.
Modern rooms with everything you need.
Clean and tidy.
View from the lounge is perfect but the bedroom view was a bit disappointing. Could only see the brick wall and the overgrown weeds within the flower bed. Obstructed the view. Other then that amazing stay and we would definitely book again in the future but a floor higher.

Brilliant stay, the host was full of information and guidance on how to check into the property. The property was everything we expected it to be. It felt very safe, secure and homely. We had a young child with us and it was great for them too, particularly enjoying that the bedrooms were downstairs ensuring a cool, peaceful nights sleep. Beautiful view and easily accessible to all the great activities that Whitby has to offer. Thank you for a great stay.

The apartment was modern and well laid out for a break. The lounge area had amazing views over Whitby bay. The basement bedrooms smelt a bit musty but I don’t think anything could be done about it.
My only negative comment is that after I had booked and paid for the apartment,, I was then informed I had to pay an additional accidental breakage insurance before they would give me access codes. I already had my own (better) insurance, but they would not accept it. I felt that I was held to ransom by a hidden cost which I didn’t need and was not informed about until after I had entered into the agreement.

Location and outlook over the sea. Only a 10 minute walk in to Whitby town centre or the harbour. Sea views from the living room.

Windowsill in the bedroom with the ensuite was very dirty. Black scuff marks on the walls throughout. Small area outside the front of the property very overgrown, neighbouring properties were very tidy.

Location was excellent overlooking the sea (although, due to know ones fault, it was misty the whole time we were there) Ha. It was a short walk from the town center too which was great and not far from the Harbour. While we were there was also a bit of a music festival one which made our stay all the better.

The only issue we had was the parking. I was under the impression that we had one free parking space but sadly this was not included through booking.com although the family staying in one of the other apartments had boked with airbnb and had parking included. It turned out expensive to park for 2 days especially as we had 2 cars. It would have been nice to have just one space!

We did but have a key for the outside door for the duration of our stay. We felt very unsafe knowing the door was unlocked while we slept at night. We also worried when we went out we would not get back into the apartment if another resident locked the door.

Let down by cleanliness and general wear and tear which would easily be rectified (seal round the bath, mucky walls etc)

On the whole the flat was very good. Needs afew things freshener up. A broken socket which I have reported.
Our main thing which we were not happy about was parking. Last year we stayed _ got a parking permit which was great & gave us stress free thinking about where we could park. We were told this is not available now but we found old permits from March? I'm sure most people would like this, even if you had to pay.

Excellent accommodation, location was fantastic. Would definitely stay again. Only confusion was with the address provided as it was listed as the Sandbeck which was another property around the corner. When we went there the owner said it happens all the time and he would look into getting it sorted.
Other than that it was perfect and we would 100% stay again in future

The place was roomy and in a good location.

The only complaint was that the showers both need re sealing as there is quite alot of black mold which makes it look dirty. The shower over the bath isnt as bad as the on-suite shower this is getting quite bad. I will attach a couple of photos.

The location was perfect,it was a ground floor apartment which was perfect as I had a baby in a pushchair, only 5 steps up to front door which I managed fine.
The beds were so comfortable, the whole place was cosy and warmed up very quickly once heating was on.The heating,WiFi etc was very easy to use.

When closing the blinds in living room,to open them the cord was very high up which meant I had to stand on a chair to reach them,it was fine for myself but an elderly person would not manage that.

On first impressions the property is well furnished and location is great, however the property is poorly maintained and full of mould which smelt all through the bedrooms. The bathroom was also mouldy and the carpet was not hoovered. There was dust throughout, and a bin bag had been left by the front door which was not a great first impression. Host&Stay were extremely reluctant to provide an adequate refund as we had to depart after the first night due to being unable to sleep in the bedrooms. Really unimpressed with the place and think it has such potential to be a beautiful holiday home but unfortunately is being poorly managed and maintained.

The apartment was lovely right across the road from the beach, quite, could not hear road noise In upper apartment and only through vents in lower apartment. well equipped, although we did not use any of it, while we were there, apart from bathrooms, Kettle, 2 cups, 2 glasses, bed. Never cook on holiday :) .Was just the 2 of us on this trip but would happily get another couple in or kids and have plenty of room.
Short walk into the town, lots of places to eat and drink, not just on the lower town level, plenty on the higher levels of the town, Don't forget the side streets there are so many places to dine, drink and shop so go and explore it's not just houses and hotels down there.
Not a dog owner, put did notice very dog friendly place and dog owners did pick up the mess, lots of shops, cafes, and pubs all left water bowls out.
Would go back to the apartment and Whitby.

I think people must have found getting into the main entrance key pad door a little hard as the door handle was very loose, It was temperamental but my hubby managed to do ok, we did however watch the video on the website, a couple of days before on how to open it ( Heads up there ). Again with the key lockers. bit temperamental. would suggest a visual image on how to open, on the notice board above them would be very helpful .
We did not get a scratch card for parking left at the apartment but to be honest it was worth paying for parking so we could keep an eye on the car just outside. You will find parking and driving around the town tight. it is the nature of, Whitby, that's why it's known for tiny alley ways and streets, Nooks and Crannies, find a car park, walk, wheel, or scooter around.

Bay window ( the main focal point of the accomodation) visibly dirty on the inside.
Foisty smell emitting from the ensuite into the master bedroom.

A pair of women's dirty underwear left on the bedside table in the second bedroom which were clearly visible on entering the room.
All of these issues were reported immediately and a second clean was agreed however after much back and forth over the course of 24hrs this never materialised.

Uncomfortable seating in the lounge area. Very rusty bathroom toilet brush and toilet roll holder shower in main bedroom needing grout cleaning sealant also black . Only 2 clothes hangers per room. Nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries. Entrance to building outside had lots of cigarette butts on the floor and garden untidy.

Freshly decorated, new carpet, lovely kitchen. Superb view from lounge of the sea. Very easy access to the town and harbour.
Good wifi and lovely large TV. Very nice bathroom and beds were comfortable

There was a musty smell as you approached the ensuite bedroom. I complained to Host & Stay and a maintenance man came the same day who was excellent. He brought drain unblocker and bleach

The place was lovely, well presented and immaculate. On arrival we were advised that a parking permit (scratch card) would be found in the property, no card found. I contacted the host and they said a card should be there, and ignored us, we did eventually find some where to park 15 minute walk back. However the worse was to come, we were woken up the following morning at 7:40am with knocking and drilling, sounded like major construction work on the apartment above, this continued for our short stay, which ruined our break there, we were forced to go out, because of the noise, a complete disrespect for us staying there. On our return home I contacted the Host and Stay, I never got a straight answer and different people would reply, poor communication between them, nobody taking ownership, I finally got to talk to them, and although polite, they were reading from a script!! All they offered was 15% off our next stay! Really! Full refund would be in order!

Great apartment, spotlessly clean, two lovely bedrooms both on suite and you can see the sea from the living room. Great location as looking over the sea and close to Whitby. They loved their holiday there and would definitely visit again! I’d like too as well now!

The property matched the pictures, and the view was beautiful. It was fairly easy to find but not easily identifiable from the road. We had to message to receive our check in instructions as on the day of arrival, they had not arrived but they were quick to respond and once we were in it was well presented, however the decor definitely needs touching up, with obvious recently filled holes in the wall not yet painted. We discovered a dirty towel left on the back of the bedroom door, rusty accessories in the bathrooms, and mould in the shower. I lifted the ottoman bed up to locate an extra pillow and found it dirty and dusty, with empty drink bottles left behind. After also being blindsided by an extra damage waiver charge after booking that other reviews have mentioned, this didn’t leave us feeling pleased. You definitely pay for the location and the view, and we were disappointed given our previous experiences with host and stay have been very good with very high standards set.

Lovely place and great location. Walking distance from everything you could need. Parking token was a great touch, but paid parking is available directly outside the apartment too which was good as we had two cars.
Slight smell from the en-suite bathroom, but to be expected from a basement bathroom. Very comfy beds and spacious living/kitchen area. Would recommend.

Really lovely apartment, well designed and layout thought through. Location is great for exploring Whitby. A few minor changes would make it perfect- some missing kitchen utensils need adding and curtains at bedroom windows.
The hosting company were easy to get hold of when we needed anything and check in and out was very easy.

We came for NYE 2022/2023 enjoyed it so much we wanted to stay longer.
Lovely place perfectly situated in Whitby, close to the centre but not in the extreme busy part, close to the beach and amenities. Lovely view of the sea felt very peaceful, easy check in. Felt very homely perfect place for my boyfriend and I.

We enjoyed the place so much we wanted to stay longer and was disappointed in the early check out as it was also a late check in.

Slightly disappointed as I felt blindsided into the extra fee of £250 or £25 waiver.
I know it was the time of year we went everywhere is expensive however it was slightly more than I thought with the cleaning fee on top as well as the extra damage fee.

I would still stay here again as the location is perfect!!

Lovely location, walking distance to the whole area Sea view from the breakfast table which we don’t get at home. Clear instructions on accessing the building and our accommodation. Parking permit was Welcome and we managed to park out front to unload and then find a space for our entire stay. The accommodation itself was nicely styled and well equipped. First impressions could be improved (front garden / shared entrance).

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights and we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect as its right across from the ocean. We enjoyed breakfast every morning sitting at the dinner table facing the window listening and watching the waves. It is a very spacious and comfortable apartment but at the same time cosy as well. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare meals and also a dishwasher for easy clean up afterwards. The host were very responsive and provided plenty of information to make sure your stay was as straightforward as possible. It does not mention this on the actual apartment page but there is a deposit to pay. You only find out about it once you have booked which is a little disappointing. There are two options, you can either pay a £250 refundable deposit which they hold onto for 14 days or you pay a £25 non-refundable deposit. Overall, we were very happy to stay here and were a little sad to leave lol. Highly recommended.

In terms of location and what the property had to offer, we had a great weekend. Beds very comfy, a great standard. Quiet area which was also perfect for us. A few points that could be improved upon but didn’t detract from how much we enjoyed our stay!

A wonderfully clean, modern and comfortable apartment in Whitby. It was lovely having breakfast by by the bay windows with views of the sea. Everything in the apartment was thoughtfully laid out, we appreciated the effort that went into it. Wish we stayed longer! The host has been very thoughtful and left parking scratch cards, milk, ample toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, coffee, etc.

FYI for future guests, you'll be sent a link to superhog for verification to complete with a non-refundable deposit for £10 taken, and also £250 which is supposed to be refunded later on. I didn't find out about this until we had already set off and spent the day frantically researching about superhog.

There was an awful fusty smell in the en-suite shower which crept out into the bedroom. Shower was mouldy which is unacceptable.

Second time I have stayed here and would highly recommend - brilliant location, lovely decor and well equipped. Easy unloading/parking although you have to pay if you can’t find a W zone space free to use the provided scratch cards.

No big issues but the outside of the property could use some attention. The building is painted nicely but the front “garden” was full of weeds and litter. A number of the points others have reported in earlier reviews regarding cleanliness inside had not been addressed at the time of our stay. Dirty toilet brush and tatty toilet roll holder (this hasn’t been replaced since previous stay in 2021), dirty hand prints on the walls above the stairs and dusty surfaces. The mattresses were not the most comfortable and replacements are needed soon.

A beautifully styled rental in a fabulous location. Parking permit included which is a real bonus as all roads nearby are permit only. However there are pay and display car parks really close by.
Thoughtful touches such as fresh milk, tea and coffee.
Excellent, friendly communication.
Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Bright apartment with good access from the street, décor was good. As with most basement bathrooms, smelt a little damp however was not an issue.

Host does need to clean outside the house steps, lots of old cigarette butts and rubbish, also congregated around the bedroom windows.

Location fantastic, just a short walk down the steps to the town. Little coffee shop/ice cream parlour opposite. Pay and display parking opposite or free W parking close by. Exactly like the pictures. Lovely comfy beds. Nice cool bedrooms with them being downstairs. Bedrooms downstairs was a novelty for our children!

Some bathroom items were tarnished (toilet roll holder) and some damp patches were visible on the bedroom window sealant. A quick fix to ensure high standards are maintained.
Coffee, tea, sugar provided is a nice touch however this would be better in sealed sachets.

Check-in was smooth, clear instructions were sent to us by email. Communication was excellent throughout. This is a lovely apartment in the best possible location and the view is spectacular! We have really enjoyed our stay; it's just a walk across the road and down the steps to the beach and only 5 minutes into the town centre. The décor is modern and pleasant- well planned. The comfortable King-size beds in both bedrooms are a bonus. The kitchen is excellent, very well equipped and we liked the open plan design. I highly recommend Beach View and look forward to going again some time now that we've found it.

I loved the location of this property it was straight up from the beach, short walk to the centre and an ice cream shop opposite!
The property was very modern, the master room was huge and both rooms were cool which was lovely when it was hot out. Great view of the sea when eating breakfast.

This is a lovely flat right on the seafront. The location really couldn't be better with fantastic views and access to beach etc, but it was still nice and quiet as you're just out of the town centre. A 5 minute walk takes you to the bars and cafes. It's well equipped with all the amenities you could want.

Do note however that they ask you to send personal information to a company called Superhog, even sending a text message with 'click this link' (really? in 2022). I got in touch to say I wasn't willing to hand over personal data electronically to an unknown third party and they said it wasn't compulsory. But worth being aware of.

Location and accommodation were great. We really enjoyed our stay. Beds are very comfortable and it warms up quickly with the radiators. Front door handles abit tricky, you have to pull it much farther down than expected, almost so tip handles touching the door frame so it took a few try’s to get in, but once you’ve got the trick it’s fine.

Stylish, modern and exceptionally clean apartment, with a view of the sea. Ideal if you don’t want to be in the middle of the town centre, with tourists staring in your windows! Yet it’s only a 10 minute walk to the ‘front’.

Beach View was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, a stone's throw away from the beach. It was lovely having breakfast in the morning watching the sunrise and boats sailing past. When we arrived it was a bit early to check in so we parked in one of the two car parks opposite the property which it turned out were free to park in in the winter months (I think they start charging in March) so this was a nice surprise that we had no need to worry about getting the pass from the property to be able to park close by. There was milk in the fridge on arrival and teas and coffees in the cupboard along with a Nespresso machine so I didn't have to worry about stocking up on some essentials. Beds were comfy. A little soap, Conditioner and Shampoo were provided. Would book again, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Beach View is a great place to stay in Whitby due to its excellent location on the west cliff, within a stones throw of the iconic whale bones. The accomodation was very well thought out, nicely decorated and had every amenity you could need. The sea view is fantastic also, very calming.
We had our two children with us; a 4 month old baby and 5 year old son, and the accomodation was well suited to our needs.

We had a slight issue with the ensuite in master bedroom, but Airbnb compensated us for this inconvenience.

Stay were very quick to respond to all communication.

Wow this place is absolutely lovely, 2 adults plus toddler- loads of space for us all. Clean, furnished really nicely and it was so nice and warm!
Perfect location just across the road from the beach and easy walk into the town.

The apartment was really lovely and clean - everything you need, including a washer dryer and a nespresso machine which was a lovely touch. As was the pint of milk waiting in the fridge for a cuppa!
The apartment is right on the sea front with a coffee and ice cream shop across the road, and only a few minutes walk in into Whitby town centre.
We stayed with two small children and there was so much to do within a walk of the apartment that we only drove to go to specific places further afield that we had planned for (Scarborough is about 30 minutes in the car and Robin Hoods bay is 10 minutes and really lovely!).
We were worried about parking but it wasn’t much of an issue. Parking is free between 6 or 7pm and 9am right outside. We rented a parking space 10 minutes walk away for days we didn’t need the car, but it really wouldn’t have been too much of an issue. The machines accept card payments - only problem is you can’t pay for a full day but if you are staying local then that really isn’t an issue. We were always able to get a space when we wanted one!
We will defo be back to Whitby and would be very happy to stay here again!

We loved this accommodation, such a great location and perfect in every way. The place was lovely, modern and clean with easy self check in. Great position on the West Cliff overlooking the bay and we were lucky enough to see some stunning sunsets.
We especially loved sitting in the bay window with a glass of wine and a 'people watch' whilst the kids slept in the evenings. We will without doubt book this place again. Highly recommend
