Do not stay here. Arrived 5pm Friday, left 10am Sunday in February . No heating, no hot water. Maintenance came out twice l, 2nd guy not even an heating engineer. Couldn’t get working. Offered alternative accommodation 10.30pm on the Saturday. Was in bed due to been so cold. Cottage is tired. Nothing like the pictures. Needs decorating and cleaning from top to bottom. Looked after by an agency that just doesn’t seem to care. Had to wash glasses and baking trays before we could use them. Damp in bedrooms, light bulbs missing in lights, mould around tiles in bathroom, no open fire as advertised. It’s a joke!!! We use Airbnb regularly and have always had lovely relaxing stays in well looked after properties. Not this one. We will not be using any run by host and stay again.

Lovely house in the heart of Staithes. We were comfortable and warm during December and the cottage had been decorated for Christmas. Adding a few extra bits to the kitchen would be helpful so you don’t run out of cutlery etc after 1 meal - this would be handy. Recommend the fish and chip shop at the top of the hill and, of course, the Cod and Lobster pub.

We stayed as a family of four adults and a dog, there was plenty of room and it was spotless. Staithes is a perfect spot to explore the coast. Kitchen is a great space for a family meal and we had everything we needed. We were a bit disappointed we couldn't use the open fire as this was a big draw for booking the cottage and we had bought coal, logs and firefighters ahead of arriving, however the electric fire warmed the room well so we got over it. I'd definitely recommend this cottage.

Nice cottage in fabulous Staithes. Clean and warm. We did find the electric shower a bit hard to use, and were a bit surprised at the absence of some simple kitchen facilities: for example there was no can or bootle opener

This is a lovely property ideally located in the centre of Staithes. The house itself had everything we needed and felt very relaxing from the minute we arrived. Staithes is so beautiful and plenty to do as a family of 4 with a dog. We spent 4 days on holiday here and spent every minute in Staithes either in the beach, crab fishing in the amazing rock pools, taking some beautiful walks and eating in many of the tasty cafes and restaurants. A great place to relax and have fun

We had a great long weekend with family & dogs at Hampdon Cottage… a lovely decorated house over 4 floors, beautifully clean, lovely bed linen & comfortable beds, right in the heart of Staithes. Would highly recommend!

Lovely cottage, very comfortable for a family of 5 with a dog. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and everywhere was extreme clean. It was our first visit to Staithes and we would like to visit again.

The house, location and facilities were brilliant (although we couldn’t find a bottle opener!) Gorgeous house, excellent location. Our only issue was Host and Stay’s lack of knowledge about the accommodation. It clearly states, on both Air BnB and other sites, that the single bed has a pull out bed underneath which can be set up as requested, taking the house from a 5-person to a 6-person. When I contacted Host and Stay to ask them to do this, they were ADAMANT that this house did not sleep six, there was no pull-out bed and that we could only have five guests. After reading reviews, we chanced it anyway…only to find a perfect pull-out bed, as described. I had to search around for additional bedding, using a very dusty duvet from on top of a wardrobe, but we made it work regardless. All-in-all, we had a wonderful stay and would visit this exact house again.

A lovely little fisherman’s cottage in a fantastic location, full of charm and character. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that would have made it even better would be a few more basic kitchen essentials, such as cooking oil and a few condiments. Otherwise, a great spot for a relaxing break!

We had a lovely stay - we always love Staithes and will be back! The house was lovely, and exactly the kind of place everyone should expect and look for in such an amazing spot. My only negative about the property was the cold shower on the last day!

Microwave had a burning smell was shorting, nearly went through the floor due to a loose floorboard, toilet seat broken, couldn’t hang my clothes as the wardrobe stuffed with a duvet, shower wouldn’t stay on due to the on/off button missing, back door was completely missing a lock so couldn’t secure properly and finally a burst pipe in the kitchen left us with a flooded kitchen so couldn’t use anything in the kitchen we had no water to drink, no toilet facilities and no washing facilities, we couldn’t even brush our teeth. Had to chase host and stay for information which in the end they just left us in this situation without any solutions other than to turn the water off. We will be expecting a full refund and some form of compensating for this complete disappointing long weekend.

Spacious lounge and fully fitted kitchen with added extra’s such as a coffee machine, dishwasher and large kitchen table The boys loved the board games and Jigsaw at night and the two W.C’s was a bonus . Staithes is beautiful and so many walks nearby and pubs and cafes I would thoroughly recommend Chrissy

Its me, not you....... What I liked: - Very clean - All mod cons (well, almost) What I didn't like: - Deposit: this incurs a fee, £35 pounds, or £10 pounds. I'm more than happy to pay a refundable deposit, this is not that, in it's entirety. - Connectivity: no WiFi at the property. The title of the review says it all I think......our 'weekend' was an unmitigated disaster, but not the fault of Host 'n Stay. We were in the house for less than 2 hours, I was on-call for work and with no cell signal, and no Wi-Fi, that was that. There is Wi-Fi in the property, but I wasn't allowed to connect, the password is missing and when I called to ask for it (I said I'd pay extra) they just kept telling me it wasn't a part of the amenities (the ad does say this, I missed it 'i.e. me, not you'). My wife left her kindle in the house, we found out when we got home, that's gone. Host 'n Stay say it wasn't there. A case of expectations vs. agreements, I didn't check, they didn't match.

We had a lovely stay at the house in Staithes. Beware you cannot park at the property and parking in the village is limited. There is a car park at the top of the hill. It was only an issue for us as we have small children and we brought Grandad along too! We found it easy to drop them off and then drive up. Also limited shops in the old village for supplies such as milk / beer / wine especially after 5. The house itself is beautiful and the location is very picturesque. Lots of pubs and cafes within easy reach and a short walk to the beach. The dawn chorus will be seagulls!!

The property and location are amazing, it was exactly the break we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was only let down by the bad management and complete lack of response to both emails and messages regarding lost property. Also, watch out for additional fees in the form of mandatory guest insurance or security deposit fees. I will not stay at a property managed by Host & Stay ever again.

This is a good place to stop in Staithes. It's an excellent location pretty much in the middle of the coastal village. It's just off the main road and very quiet and only a few minutes walk to the shops/pubs/harbour. The kitchen and lounge are fairly well equipped although some of the kitchenware is looking quite old. Nice bedrooms. No tea towels or kitchen roll - these would be handy. The car park at the top is only 10 mins walk away (uphill) and 5 mins (downhill) and costs around £7 for 24 hours. I would like the cleaning fee to be pro rated to the number of nights and persons stopping as there were only 2 of us for 2 nights. We used 2 out of 4 beds, didn't even go in one of the bedrooms and had very little footfall within the property. Certainly wouldn't be a £90 cleaning fee, but appreciate it's a common airbnb trick/loophole that hosts use to maximise income. Also, the damage waiver that was mandatory was substantially more than the the figures quoted in the t&c's.

Very large cottage for staithes. The basement kitchen is really bright with a lovely design. However it lacks a bit of équipement (oven gloves, bottle opener, condiments). The living space is very cosy. The bedrooms are spacious comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom is a bit dated but charming.

Great location in the heart of Staithes. Short walk to pubs and shops. Parking is at the top of the hill. The cottage had plenty of space for 2-4. Bedrooms all clean and tidy. Kitchen was pretty well equipped including a Nespresso; but no corkscrew! So we arrived Friday night and couldn’t open our bottle of wine. I did point this out to host and stay and was told they would get one dropped in the following day. But this didn’t happen. Which is disappointing. Also it would be a nice touch to at least get salt and pepper in the kitchen for guests.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hampdon Cottage. Loved being right in the village. The cottage was cold on arrival but warmed up within a couple of hours of putting the heating on. Living room was cosy and beds were comfortable. Nice dining space in the basement kitchen & the coffee machine was a nice touch.

Staithes is a beautiful place to visit and we enjoyed staying at Hampdon Cottage. Lovely warm, cosy cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were well presented. Staithes is ideal for walking parts of the Cleveland Way. Two lovely pubs close by for a drink. Great place to chill and relax.

Lovely historic holiday house in the centre of old Staithes. Easy to access once we found the house (tucked away in a side street). Nice decor throughout, but a slight damp problem on the wall in the kitchen. Damage deposit of £250 seemed excessive.

We’ve stayed in an air bnb previously in staithes but this one is much bigger with a nice sized kitchen below. The doors on the stairs are great for keeping little toddlers contained as well as the stairs in these sorts of places are a little steeper than modern houses. Very nice house indeed, with a little shop opposite open various times of the day. Not too much foot traffic past as well so nice and quiet on a street just off the Main Street down. Cotbed was extremely comfortable for the little one. Bedrooms all lovely and bonus having two toilets as well with a large family staying. Unfortunately we were told on arrival a high chair isn’t present at the cottage although advertised as such at the time of booking but this wasn’t a big deal overall a lovely cottage, perfectly positioned off the high street and near the waterway as well. Most likely one of the nicer roomier options available in staithes

Absolutely loved our stay at Hampden Cottage. The location is excellent (limited access by car for arrival/departure day but with a little extra planning this wasn’t an issue at all). The cottage was cosy and comfortable and the kids loved their rooms. Easy access to great walks and amenities of the village. Would highly recommend. Thank you for an excellent holiday.

Lovely stay in a sleepy fisherman’s village. A few pubs In walking distance and the beach a few minutes walk. Property was really cosey and lovely! I had a 4 month old baby and access isn’t great and cobbled roads- doable but do your research if visiting with a baby xxxx
