The apartment is in a great central location. It is modern, clean and has all the facilities you need. It is also very quiet. The lounge/kitchen is a great large and open space and very comfortable. The bathroom is extremely large and has a bath and separate shower. There are 2 double bedrooms and 1 single.

There have been many negative reviews over the past 2 years about the stairwell light. This still hasn't been resolved and is very dangerous and a H&S hazard.
The proprietor charged a £250 insurance deposit and it took 2 weeks for this to be refunded and they keep £10 despite there being no issues.
If it wasn't for these 2 things then the stay would have been excellent.

Stairs smelt of birds and were dirty, skylight was covered in bird XXXX, toilet had a seat from another sized toilet, couldn't get the shower warm plus its wasn't the cleanest, floor in Bathroom needs redoing as its broken. batteries in several controllers didn't work, one of which being the heating, once I had resolved this it became a lovely place to sit. some stains on carpets in hall, some parts of walls were dirty in kitchen, bin was vey tired., none of these things were major and could be sorted in very little time, the place is great just a little more attention to detail please.

The entrance to the accommodation is in an alley which is absolutely disgusting. There was a strong smell of urine, there was (we think ) dog poo in the door way opposite along with broken glass and lots of Pigeon poo .& feathers ... not very welcoming at all The key safe was not locked on arrival so the keys were available to anyone. Inside was very grubby, with dust everywhere, including the bedroom lights having cobwebs ! The cutlery was dirty & tea stained cups . The metal sink drainer was rusty, The Shower cubical has black mould all around the tray and obviously hasn't been cleaned in a long while
It came chilly at night but we were unable to get the central heating to work , & there was only 1 toilet roll for 5 people staying 3 nights . We have stayed in the apartment below this ( endeavour appartment 1) & had a very different experience, spotless clean , very warm & comfortable which is what we expected when we booked endeavour appartment 2 ! I called Host and Stay to tell them how we had found the apartment and apart from saying sorry to hear about our complaints they didn't really seem interested.
Normally I would not write a bad review, but we felt we had to on this occasion.
We have stayed in Whitby many times before and this is by far the worst accommodation we have Stayed in.
The apartment is up for sale so maybe this is another reason it appears no one is bothered?

Inside of front door stank of urine. Presumably because it was in an alley across from a pub. We did see drunks urinating on doors in the alley.
On arrival the shower drain was blocked , and over the next couple of days I sent multiple emails and made at least 6 phone calls to get it fixed. We booked from Friday to Monday, and it took me constantly nagging before someone was sent out to look at it on the Sunday. All he did was clean the hair from around the outside of the drain, and my daughter had to put her hand in a plastic bag and pull all of the hair and gunk out of the shower drain. Her boyfriend had to hold a towel over her mouth whilst she did it, as the stench was horrible. When I first reported the problem to the property management team, they actually asked why I didn’t just put my hand down and unblock it myself!!
Basically, they expected 5 of us to go from Friday to Monday without a shower!
On arrival, the bathroom floor and skirting boards were covered in black hair and pubes, as was the bath and shower base, as well as clumps of black hair on the taps and shower head. None of our party has black hair!!
Tables, sky box, tv, etc era was covered in thick dust, and we had to wipe food crumbs from the kitchen chairs before we could use them.

The flat is furnished really ovely and was spacious for 3 adults and an older teenager. The coffee machine was a bonus as too were the TVs in the two double rooms. The location of the flat is perfect in the sense it is right in the hub, very close to the quay, restaurants and shops. It is a first floor flat, another is above and a Costa below, there is a pub opposite on a narrow street. We were woken early both mornings from 6am - from Costa and the pub turning out at night also was noisy both nights, this was a slight negative for me. I also felt certain areas could of been cleaned a little more thoroughly. However we did have a nice couple of days.

The location for this listing is wonderful. Close to evening. The space is large and comfortable for the three of us. However we would like to highlight three points here. 1) the house is generally clean but not to the details. Lamp shades, and all the nightstands are very dusty and stained. Kitchen is clean, and washroom is fine. 2) there are no washer and dryer as advertised. This has been a huge inconvenience as we were expecting to get all our clothes washed before moving onto the next stop. 3) when we emailed Host and Stay, there was only “automatic” reply, or it seems. When we called the hotline there is only V/M which was never replied during our stay. We have filed a complaint and right now waiting for reply. For a listing that has great features and great location, Host and Stay really doesn’t need to mislead the guests by adding amenities that do not exist. Honesty and integrity should lead the way!

I cannot say we did totally enjoy our stay. As you are aware the property had not been cleaned to a moderate standard. Toothpaste all over the bathroom windowsill, coffee stains on the kitchen work surfaces, food in the sink, crumbs on the work surfaces/ table and under the table. Additionally, urine all down the outside of the toilet bowl and the carpets had not been vacuumed. 


After many phone calls and emails, even speaking to someone in the Philippines,  you sent a cleaner (after 24hrs), Lee, who did a good job.  


In addition to this the lamps in bedroom 2 have a 2-pronged plug, with no way of plugging them in. 

The lamp in the lounge has no bulb. The shower was blocked up and had to be switched off when the water reached the top of the shower tray. Also, the bathroom sink was not draining well. 


All in all, we would have expected much better cleanliness, and we are very disappointed

The location was good, in the middle of the town. Accommodation was quite spacious.

It was very cold. no heating provided or didn't work.
Not enough cutlery - only 3 forks and a used wooden one.
Visit by estate agent with family to view property was a surprise to say the least.

The location was ok but noisy.

The property was dirty, had not been hoovered, dusted or cleaned properly and a lot of the furniture (eg. the sofas, hall carpet etc.) was old / worn out / stained / damaged and looked nothing like the photos online. We could not access the internet or Sky or terrestrial TV as the Sky box did not function, we were given the wrong internet password and the host made no attempt to rectify this. Most of the batteries in the remote controls were dead. The bedside lights were unusable as the plugs were a 2 pronged European, not UK fitting and no adaptors were provided. There was no bulb in the lounge table lamp. There were no mattress protectors on the beds and a hole in the worn out bedding revealed a stained duvet beneath. The seat pad in the main bedroom was filthy and covered with the hairs of previous occupants. There was an unrepaired rip in the bathroom flooring with evidence of leaking and black mould in the shower tray and in the corners of the bedroom windowsill along with a couple of dead flies.

Cleaning is atrocious, exposed wiring in the building, hot water not working, lights not working.

Host & Stay just fob you off don't care or don't want to know of any issues just come back with the same response and don't take it seriously.

The living room is very spacious

The bathroom light cannot be turned on.We saw that there was water in the lampshade.

The overall cleanliness is average, with the oven and cabinets being particularly dirty.

The kitchen does not have hand soap or dish soap, and there are no condiments provided.

Spacious apartment and close to all amenities

Property was not clean, dishwasher had to be put on to ensure crockery, plates, dishes, mugs (unable to use 3 as they were dirty) clean before use.
We had to go out to buy cleaning products - all tables, bedroom furniture, bathroom dirty and sticky.
Bathroom & kitchen floors not clean. Behind the bathroom door thick dust.
Carpets not hoovered.
The stairs up to the property had no working light which was a health and safety issue, especially as we had two children and a pensioner in our party.
I rang the Host & Stay agent on our first evening, but to date I have not received a response.
When leaving the property on our last day the cleaner arrived and we passed on our concerns re the cleanliness - his response was that the apartment was up for sale and was in need of decoration - we explained that decoration was not the issue but the cleanliness of the property

The apartment was on the top floor and the steps very steep which was fine for our group, however none of the lights on the stairwell worked which made navigating the 2 flights of steps with a baby and a pushchair at night quite treacherous.
Couldn’t seem to get the water hot either.

Nice location, spacious and great for a group of friends. The local pub opposite is a bit of a belter!

The light in the stairwell did not work. Not a massive issue for us because we had phone torches. If any of your group has mobility issues they may struggle with the stairs as they are quite steep.

The 32 steps up to Endeavour 2 apartment (18 up to No.1, then 14 more to No.2) NOT 10 as stated

No working lights in stairwell, this was reported on our 1st evening but still not fixed, up/down 32 stairs in the pitch black is NOT acceptable

Toilet does not flush well - faeces/paper in there when we arrived!

Kitchen sink blocked with what appeared to be scouring pad - plug not cleaned properly

No external lights working, very difficult to use the security keypad in the dark

Single bed has to be ‘crawled up’ to get in as it’s shoved into an alcove - no wonder only two double rooms are shown

Location is brilliant, very central to Whitby. The £9 a day (24 hour) parking was only a 5 minute walk away, but luckily for dropping off and picking up our luggage they allow cars down the pedestrian street on a evening and early morning.

Unfortunately, there was a mix up with the keys, the previous holidaymakers didn't leave the key. This delayed the cleaning of the apartment which delayed us getting access. Wasn't the best start to the holiday, but it was the only let down luckily. The apartment would benefit from having a washing machine.

dog friendly, perfect location

first impressions - terrible, takes 2 mins a brush and hot water to clean the bird shit from the front of the alleyway door, the stait well for all 6 flights weree dirty with used tissues etc left on them with other assorted shit. Dog friendly however carpets stained where dogs had messed previously and also parts didn't look like anybody had tried to clean it up. The cleaner needs to have a word with themselves as it was of very poor standard, its up for sale and it looks like nobody cares. Facilities state clearly that there is parking - this is not the case and it cost £9 per 24 hours in the long stay car park 2 cars went 4x£9 added £72 to the holiday cost, spoke to host and stay staff to resolve 1st attempt i was hung up on by the foreign operator when she didn't agree with what i was saying and second one completely useless. The small print when you are advised of where it is, tells you there is a car park 1 min away that may have a charge ( no such thing as free parking in Whitby unless you want a 5 mile walk. Avoid the place if you want clean (bedding was clean to be fair) and also anything booked using host and stay via booking .com or any other medium in fact avoid host and stay full stop. Left me feeling conned over the booking. Not at all happy. Whitby however is a beautiful place and well worth the visit

Briliant location and a lovely modern apartment. Very spacious, sky TV in both double rooms, powerful shower. Everything that you need is there. The apartment is roughly 1 minute walk from the front, so central to pretty much most things.
Seen people say about the noise, if you keep the windows closed you can hardly hear anything, you have to remember though you're staying on a main strip with pubs all around you. noise wasn't a problem, and the windows did a very good job keeping it out!
would stay again!

The shower pan doesn't drain at all, so you need to have a quick shower.
Water pressure needs sorting out with the bathroom sink. It's too powerful.
Some of the cups have massive cracks in them, so they need replacing.
Draw under the over needs serious attention. it's covered in grease!
Proof rear you're emails before sending them out as some are misleading!!
The alley where the door is, needs a clean once a week at least to get rid of pigeon poo!

Host and stay are absolute rubbish. Didn’t send key pin so couldn’t enter until I eventually got in touch with someone. Dead pigeon on doorstep, lights don’t work on stairs. Looks ok when you first enter but cleaned to the worst standard I’ve ever seen, I have cancer and had to reclean minute I got there, host and stay offered a reclean next day but that was too late. And the place needed a deep clean, not just a dust.Just about everything in the apartment was broken or didn’t work on close inspection, very dangerous for someone in my condition. Host services are a joke, do not hire this apartment.

It was lovely and clean when we arrived and really light and comfy. Bedrooms were very comfortable

could have done with bits like kitchen roll and better toilet roll. it was a pity about all the pigeon poop in the alley and I was worried about one coming in so didn’t open the window. I could see bird poo on the curtains inside so think this has happened before.

the property was 2 minutes from the harbour the apartment was clean and tidy . The beds are so comfortable.

the property is down n alley at the side of Costa and there is loads of bird muck all over the floor and on entrance to the apartment (I know birds need to go ) it could do with a wash down every now and then .
Also there is no lighting on the stairs going up to the apartments which makes it very dark and you have to be very careful you don’t miss the steps I did contact the agent about this .

Its was very clean and spacious with comfortable beds. A great location.

The shower bowl filled up and didn't drain whilst using the shower. The bathroom sink tap had to much pressure and soaked you when turning it on. There was no matress protecter on the 5ft bed.

Apartment spacious clean and comfortable ,everything accommodated for within ,we had a small dog and the space was excellent ,beds very comfy ,heating superb and the shower was the best ..

A toilet seat that fits the toilet and doesn't move around ,be a nice touch to have a couple of dog bowls available , not a complaint just extra touches that add to a great stay ..
One thing ,we went Friday and Saturday 21/22 april , and it does get noisy at nights, not the accommodations fault just an awareness, Endeavour 2 above had a rowdy bunch woke the whole building at 0130 .sat am. not great but didn't happen on the Saturday eve...thank god..

Is in the middle of town so close to everything we needed.

When arrived everything seemed fine, however there were many issues when started to look closer. The beds were disgusting, hair all over the sheets, a big black stain inside the duvet, dried blood. I also found hair inside the draws, the shower, even the fridge!

I complained the first night about the beds however as they said they couldn't get anyone out that night it left one of us without a bed to sleep in as the condition of it was that bad we didn't want to touch it. Also we were promised that they would come 9am the next day only to be told it could be anytime that day. We explained that wasn't acceptable (as we didn't want to leave all our belonging in there) and they finally came at 11am. But this was after chasing multiple times.

The rooms were very bright, weirdly some rooms have curtains, others shutters. Either way no thought has been given to blocking out street lights.

The property is on a main road above a Costa, it does get very noisy. There doesn't seem to be much sound proofing so if your a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend.

This is minor but you have to be careful with the bathroom tap otherwise water goes everywhere!

Overall definitely wouldn't stay again, or recommend just to how unclean the place was, and the lack of communication from the staff.

Excellent location in the centre of Whitby we parked on harbour long stay paid for 2 days on the app so did not have to go back to car to top up . Apartment was clean and tidy with plenty of towels . Plenty of room for the four of us.

Ruined weekend and Host and Stay complaint started
Firstly place is very good. Rooms and 2 apartments. Location too. But I have a massive gripe. It ruined our weekend and to be fair the customer service from host and stay INO is a fob off and they clearly did not follow their own rules and procedures. We had issues when we arrived at the property as the owners had a painter in painting the narrow stairwell - check in was 4pm on Friday the painter left at 5.30, no heating on the stairs so with 6 adults and 3 children we found ourselves covered in wet paint all weekend, with the walls still wet when we left at 12pm Sunday, where water was dripping from the ceiling on the stairs along with any paint that was left - we complained to host and stay and they are not interested and state this should not have affected our stay although wet smelly paint is exactly what you want from a relaxing weekend away.

Also Host and Stay customer support is probably the worst I have used via booking.com and will now be wary of this again.

I stopped at Anfield Hotel that to be fair is what it says on the tin. A little hotel in a busy street near Anfield Stadium. However it was miles better due to the owner contacting myself and nothing was too much.
Then, host and stay and it's just not the same.

Poor Comms.
When we needed help and complained this was imo fobbed off.

I warn anyone please be away aware of this.

Apartment had everything that we needed. Plenty of crockery and glasses. Towels lovely and soft and bathsheets good size. Tge location couldn't have been better.

One small fault, the three hanging ceiling lights were very dusty. Everything else was spotless

Ideal location on Baxtergate one road in from the harbour. Very easy access. We were a little worried that we had the second floor apartment and one of our party is a little unsteady on his feet but the stairs turned out not too bad at all. Lovely apartment, very spacious and well equipped, we’ve stayed in a lot of places in Whitby and this is definitely the best one so far.

The apartment was spacious and comfortable with good amenities for cooking a breakfast or a meal,the central heating was good and shower ect.
The location was right in the centre of whitby. On the down side we started in apartment 2 and there was 3 flights of stairs to climb, myself and my wife are pensioners and found it difficult .

we loved the property ! But had a phone call to advise we had to move due to a faulty boiler . I understand things happen but the fact we were contacted at 11am regarding the leak - then called at 5pm to say we had to move was annoying . no offer from host and stay for taxis to help us to move locations we were just given a address and told to go . Very worrying that a boiler obviously wasn’t checked before we checked into the property !

Good location. Reported a small fault no action taken but all was fine overall. 3 bedrooms and a nice living area with good kitchen facilities which was a good surprise.

Shower issue which will hopefully be sorted for future guests.

The beds were excellent most comfortable beds I've ever slept on

17 wine glasses not a problem but only 2 tumblers and 2 small glasses. Windows opened very wide nightmare with the children and blinds the cords should have a safety hook to hang them on so children can't put round their knecks

The apartment was very central and easy to get to. This made it great with the kids as they are old enough to come and go alone. It was clean and very comfortable and spacious for us all and the TV was good having Sky which meant the teenagers could find a movie they liked.

Outside in the alleyway where the entrance to the apartment is it was really dirty with bird muck and stank of urine. When we were there someone actually used it as a toilet which was unpleasant and due to the dry weather it was not washing away. I am not sure what can be done about this as it seemed to be a problem in the whole of Whitby and needs a local clamp down, this is probably not helped by the public toilets being 40p so men are just going anywhere they can. Not a problem with the actual apartment as this was great but took the edge of it when you had to hold your breath going in and the smell travelled up the stairs.

Spacious and modern apartment with modern appliances in kitchen and a big table. Amazing location right in the centre of Whitby, close to town/beach. Communication with host was good - Host messaged us the door lock code on day of arrival, later messaged to check we had checked in okay, and messaged with check out details. Bathroom and kitchen provisions were a nice touch, e.g. shower gel/shampoo/salt and pepper/dishwasher tablet. Overall good stay.

Apartment was generally clean (e.g. kitchen was clean) but there were some cleanliness issues. e.g. dirty towel from previous guest hanging on back of bedroom door when we arrived, and a plastic play cup from previous guest at edge under sofa. Apartment was otherwise clean, but these are things I would have expected to have been picked up during cleaning, prior to our arrival.

very clean, bright modern and comfortable

was very noisy at times especially early on a morning with deliveries to the shops and costa below. Also the only thing that let the place down was the fact that there is a disgusting amount of pigeon poo piled up outside the door in the narrow alley way which means it’s hard not to stand in it , I think this should washed down regularly with a bucket of water, as it really was horrible .

the side entrance, I know it’s not in your control but people had urinated and thrown food on the floor just outside the entrance to the building, the smell was horrendous and it looked disgusting with all the food and pigeon droppings everywhere, as I say it’s out of your control but it would put me off staying again 🥲

Fantastic place to stay, perfect central location. Long stay carpark directions were given by host - 2min walk and cost £9 for 24 hours, very happy with this. Accommodation is spotless and has everything you can possibly need plus added luxuries like sky TV, dishwasher & coffee maker. We will definitely be back, the kids loved having their own rooms. Thank you so much!

Sofas not the comfiest to relax on, but perfectly OK for a few nights stay.

Ideal location just off from the Harbour in Whitby. Beautiful clean and well furnished apartment with 2 very large bedrooms and a comfortable single room.

The apartment was very central but this did mean some rowdy people in the street late into the evening.

The apartment was very comfortable and had everything needed for a stay.

The front door is located down an alley that is used as a urinal, parking is very difficult in Whitby at busy periods and you cannot drive up Baxtergate between 10.30 - 4pm this information should be displayed in your information.

I would suggest your professional cleaning team are advised that all areas such as shelves, window sills and the TV need cleaning as they were thick with dust and there were lots of hand prints all over the main TV screen. we also had to dispose of someone else’s milk carton.
it would be good to advise of the step access staircase to both flats, we had an elderly parent with us that found this challenging.

Very good situation for a comfortable flat in the center of Whitby. All conveniences are within walking distance (shops, very good fish'n'chips, pubs, and restaurants...) It is the perfect place to discover Whitby and its marvelous surroundings.

The location was amazing. It’s situated above Costa coffee on a busy shopping street. 50 meters from harbour
The door to apartment is in the lane to the left via a discrete door and key lock box.

The shower is absolutely amazing!

One minor gripe. The water pressure is absolutely huge and when washing hands of doing dishes, you’ll get soaked. Needs turning down a bit 😂😂

I stayed in the small Front bedroom and it needs curtains. The proximity to the street outside was pretty bright during the night.

The front bedroom, given its location, was loud with lassi g revellers … if you book apartment with kids, put them
In the back bedroom to prevent disruption.

We had a leak from the flat above on our last day..but it didn't spoil our stay..we phone the agent and reported the leak as we were checking out..hope it was sorted quickly as it would be a shame if the apartment was damaged.

The apartment was beautiful, really modern looking with all the facilities you could require. Exceptionally comfy beds, great bathroom facilities, multiple smart TV's in the living room & multiple bedrooms, very very well kept & clean. Great information booklets are left with local attractions, takeaways & other useful & important information in. Everything was in great condition, amazing location right in the centre of Whitby just by the harbour so you have great access to everything you could want all within walking distance. The apartment was quiet, very spacious, the decor was really nice. I could go on & on about positives, it really was one of the nicer places both me & partner have stayed. I would highly recommend whether you are looking to stay with a partner or a small group of 4 or 5 people. Both me & my partner have both stated that we will definitely be coming back to stay in the apartment again as soon as we can. We didn't want to leave!

Nothing really to dislike at all. The apartment can be tricky to find if you've never stayed or perhaps don't know Whitby too well. You can park in any of the car parks by the harbour near the Co-Op, it was less than £10 for 24hr parking as there's no parking directly for the accommodation itself. But the main car parks are roughly a 2 minute walk to the apartments. Once you've parked you head around the corner, find the Costa & as you're looking at the Costa directly in front of you, there is a little passage walkway down the left side of the shop, the apartment entrance is a few feet down there with a couple of lock boxes on the side of the door where you retrieve your keys, the combination code will have been sent to your email. It could be sign posted a little better, but that's being super critical. Once you've found the apartment, everything is plain sailing & really positive.

Perfect location and the apartment was lovely, comfy and warm. Great that we could bring the dog too! Very spacious a home from home feel, would certainly visit again.

I thought the emails leading up to my trip a little lengthy. I was working long hours up to the trip and I didn't get chance to plough through them all. Didn't get the digital guide through message until the morning of my arrival so missed how to pick up the keys until I actually arrived. Partly my fault but the emails could be more simplified. This doesn't take away from how lovely the apartment and weekend away was though!

A light over the key safe would help as we had to use a torch to get see the safe numbers. Also a dirty towel ,cleaning cloth was left in the bath,otherwise a lovely clean spacious apartment.

The apartment was in a great location, very clean and comfortable. All cleaning materials included, also tea, coffee and milk. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

The only thing I would say is that when we went to clean up this morning, the Henry vacuum cleaner smells very unpleasant as its being used.

Location was excellent, parking on council car park close by was free. Lovely apartment, spacious, very clean overall, warm and cosy. Very comfortable beds. Christmas tree with lights and a few decorations added a really nice touch. Very convenient, close to centre, shops, bars and restaurants.

Entrance was down a dark alley and problem with lots of bird poo on key box which ended up all over hands, would benefit from a cover above to protect the boxes below. On entrance, the lights on the upper stairwell were not working, needed a torch.
TV in the lounge is a bit too high for comfortable viewing. Shower needs repairing as it's continually leaking. The oven was dirty so we decided not to use it.

The property was located near to the beach. There were plenty of facilities where you could eat.

There was a generator underneath the apartment on and off all night so difficultly in sleeping.

Nothing to do with the property, wasn’t their fault that the other guests didn’t respect the rules or anyone else.
