Ideally situated cottage for visiting North Yorkshire Railway gala event and a trip to see Whitby by train too. Cottage was easy to find, had all the amenities you'd need and a good healthy hill walk at the end of the day. Host was responsive and helpful to queries. Would stay here again.

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was clean and tidy and in a beautiful location. There were some lovely walks nearby and a friendly pub just 50m walk down the hill. The hosts were very proactive and also replied quickly to our queries which made our whole stay easy and stress free.

We were visiting Grosmont to go the NYMR 'Flying Scotsman' Special and so booked Lavender Cottage. It was a stone's throw from both the local pub and the railway station and so very convenient. Also the location allowed easily exploration of the surrounding areas and into Whitby The cottage was lovely, clean, comfortable and warm with all the facilities and utensils you need. The car parking space at the rear was fine, it can be a little tricky to park in if the Neighbours at No. 3 are at home. If you are tall, you might have the occasional argument with the light in the second bedroom! Overall a great place and would happily stay there again.

Great place to stay for visiting our family in Grosmont. Place was as described with plenty of room for us and the dog. Host provided lots of info to make it easy to find/get access as well as lots of great tips for what to do in the area!

Clean and with everything you might need for a short stay so cant fault that. My only critiism is that the property could do with a little modernisation (particularly the bathroom) Otherwise, good location and comfortable enough.

Our stay was excellent. We were right in the centre of the village. Ideal for what we planned to do. As three old codgers the stairs were a little steep but we managed.

Beautiful cottage. Host and Stay responded immediately to a couple of queries. I would have liked the use of a tumble dryer as the weather was not good and we struggled to get clothes dried during our 5 week stay. Would recommend Lavender Cottage and would stay again.

We booked LavenderCootage because we were going to spend time on NYMR. It was very convenient for the station and the pub. A nice , clean, comfortable cottage. Only two minor niggles, the TV could do with being WiFi enabled, allowing gueststo bring their own firesticks and the car parking space at the rear of the property was rather tight for our Volvo XC60. Great location for visiting Whitby and North Yorks with good transport links. A super cottage which was very clean and matched the description given. The kitchen was well equipped with instructions for appliances at hand. I would highly recommend staying at Lavender cottage.

Lovely terraced cottage great for walking and exploring the area. I would recommend. Only small point is that we were looking for a cottage with an open fire - in an enquiry the fire was described as an open fire which it is not - it is an electric fire. Worth knowing that the only pub in the village was closed all three night when we were there so may be worth ringing and checking if you are relying on that as somewhere to eat - the nearest walkable pub is about 30 mins walk away in Egton. There is a cooperative type drinks only bar just across the road and there is a village shop.

1st Hist & Stay - if you’re not techy the lack of written guidelines is frustrating. My husband who is one such person was frustrated with this as he had to rely on me! 2 I was really concerned when on one site we read it had gas central heating, only to find it was electric convector wall mounted heaters - because it was cold we had the heaters on most of the time, which made us feel very guilty because of the cost of heating 3 asking people to leave clean and tidy when there was a lack of vacuum cleaner, broom brush etc However the above didn’t detract from our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed in spite of the inclement weather !!
