This is a beautiful spacious house, perfect to relax in after a day exploring or walking. The wood burner is wonderful to have but the house is very warm and easy to heat. Comfortable beds and beautifully decorated and furnished throughout. The hill back up from town is a killer but good if you are trying to stay fit. We managed it perfectly well but you can always get an inexpensive Uber up there if you are struggling. There are pubs very close that don't involve walking all the way down the hill into the centre of Matlock. We had a great stay and would highly recommend the property.

Great spacious and very comfortable house. Beautiful kitchen, dining and living room. Lots to do within 30 mins drive of Matlock. Countryside, villages and towns really interesting and picturesque. Fab cinema in Wirksworth. The house is at the top of very steep hills and only walkable to those really fit, so you do really need a car. Lovely holiday- thank you

Great house, lovely period features and furniture and some nice touches on arrival with logs and fire ready to go which was very welcome indeed. Cleaned and great beds and rooms and fab bathroom too. Picture on website showed stone outside area but this is linked to and open road which we thought was possible enclosed, apart from that super house.

We stayed in this property over Christmas, and it was fantastic! Homely, spacious and it contained everything you needed. I'd read the revews about the hill getting into Matlock, which are totally accurate- it's VERY steep, and not something we attempted to walk, so we got dog friendly taxis to take us into Matlock on Christmas Eve. I'd also read the reviews about Parking- we took only 1 car, and yes the space is tight, but we had a huge car to park, which luckily my husband took the reigns with. I would say the road parking for us wasn't an option as there wasnt any available spaces, but it may have been the time of year with people being at home. When we arrived, there were things already in the property, which I thought would be useful to include in the review as we ended up taking some of these with us- Toilet roll (only a coupe of rolls/ toilet)/ Kitchen roll/ Foil Clingfilm/ Dishwasher tablets/ Bin bags/ Cloths/ Tea towel/ Tea & Coffee. We loved it so much we booked for next year

A super lovely home. Extremely well kept & pristine clean. We were immediately impressed. I particularly loved the attention to detail in the decor. The kitchen is very well equipped & spacious. We had an extremely relaxing & enjoyable weekend at Rock End. Cosy & comfortable. The indoor fire was particularly high on our list of wants & was centre to family games night. It is at the top of an extremely long & steep hill so walking to the village was a no go for me but the drive is literally only a minute with a huge car park. Would highly recommend.

Had a lovely stay here for a weekend away with family. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice and we were all in awe when we walked through the door! Having the fireplace available in winter was a nice touch and definitely helped us dry off after walking through some typical british weather! The house had also been decorated for Christmas including a big Christmas tree which was amazing and unexpected! Lovely bottle of wine and biscuits upon arrival which was very generous. Milk was also provided so we could all have a nice cup of tea straight away! The location is up a steep hill from town, but definitely walkable! The website description does tell you all you need to know before booking and the communication from the host was great.

My friends and I have just returned from our stay and we had a lovely weekend away. The house was spotless, the kitchen is superb and main bathroom spacious with an excellent shower. We could walk into Matlock (big hill when you come back though!), beautiful views and a quiet street. Comfortable beds and pillows. However, the absolute gem on a rainy Saturday was the log burner for our cosy afternoon!

What a beautiful home! Perfect for our little getaway with friends. Felt like home from home with lovely furnishings, kitchen and bathrooms. Only very slight criticism would be the parking. Omg. What a beautiful house. Everything you need. Spotlessly clean. Very busy road out front. And parking is better on Road side than back of house. Small car would be ok round the back. Only down side. Very very steep hill to walk down. And definitely would not want to walk up it. There is a lovely pub just along from the house. Matlock lovely town

Rock House was just beautiful - such high quality throughout, very high spec, we felt very spoilt! Beautiful big light rooms, comfortable beds, super clean throughout, very well laid out, excellent heating system and beautiful bathroom and en suite, high quality bed linen and very comfortable beds - everything we needed was provided including a bottle of milk, a welcome bottle of wine and the fresh flowers! Very quiet location. House is a little out of town and at the top of a steep hill but this didn't bother us as walking down was easy and plenty of taxis available at the local taxi rank to take us back up for just £4, so well worth it. The Wellington Pub just up from the house was warm, friendly and welcoming, superb meals and excellent prices. We had 2 cars - one parked near the house on the road at the front, the rear parking spot is a little tricky to get in and out of but we managed. Host and Stay were fast to answer any queries and checking in and out very easy.

We had the most lovely stay at this house. There was 4 adults & 3 children aged 2,3&4 The house was super clean, bedrooms were a decent size! One en suite, Comfy beds, one tv in one room & the most beautiful bathroom! Taxis & Ubers around for any journeys out if needed! The stairs are always scary no matter where you are with young kids so we just kept all doors shut when kids were either in the lounge or upstairs we’d lock them in with us, maybe a stair gate for people to put up if coming with kids may be a good idea! Overall was just a super cosy staycation with family & friends, worth the price! Thanks again would happily come back if we ever went back to visit our friends in chesterfield! 10/10 recommendations!

Lovely place, gorgeous views, the property is a lot more spacious in person, the pictures really don’t do it justice. Great price for the location- it’s very close to many walking trails and the Matlock city centre is less than a 5 minute drive from the house.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Stunning home! My son remarked “I wish we lived here” and I agree. Driveway while tricky is very doable. Steep stairs so we left our luggage in the dining room for our short stay. Beautiful finishing touches everywhere in the home. Loved the shower too. Beautiful views from the home. Can not fault our stay here. 5 stars without a doubt

I stayed here with a group of 5 friends, It is a beautiful accommodation, Clean and comfortable . The kitchen is well equipped and the whole house has a modern, cosy feel about it. We enjoyed the our meals each night in the lovely dinning area. The Bedding was good quality and the beds very comfortable, we all slept well. Excellent location to explore Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Chatsworth house and the South of the Peak District. Very friendly and attentive host ,who were quick to solve any issues. There was ample parking spaces on the road infront of the house, for our 2 cars . I would definitely stay there again.

Such a Beautiful & well equipped house. Beds were super comfy and the house was really lovely. There are great bars very near by and a array of restaurants in the town just down hill all walkable. We were on a hiking weekend and the trials literally go past the house. Totally recommend Matlock and the surrounding areas.

Really nice house to stay in, clean, tidy and very spacious. Location is good for exploring although the road can be busy at times. There is a parking space at the back, but if there’s more than one car I suggest parking on the road behind the house, rather than the main road. Very enjoyable stay and the hosts were quick to respond to queries.

We had a lovely easter weekend at Rock End! It is a stunning property with lots of lovely furniture and feature’s. Our children loved the Easter decorations and treats left for them which was a lovely extra touch. Location was great for everything we wanted to do. It’s a steep walk up to the property from Matlock centre but we didn’t mind that. We would definitely return.

Fabulous Victorian property with modern touches just outside Matlock. The owners had thought of everything to make our stay perfect, including fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and chocolate biscuits. Beds were comfortable, lovely linen and fresh towels. Kitchen had all the normal amenities and more including an air fryer. Cosy lounge seating with log burner, just perfect. Elevated position, great views, a couple of pubs within easy walking distance. Highly recommend and would love to return.

Lovely clean property. Spacious and tidy. Kitchen was spacious. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Matlock was very nice, lovely local walks, plenty of places to eat and drink. Didn’t know it was at the top of a steep hill which was difficult with a child and pregnant women but easy enough to get a taxi. Highly recommend

**5-Star Review** We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this Airbnb! The house was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. The hosts were excellent communicators, always clear and friendly, making the whole process smooth and easy. One thing to mention (and a bit of a workout bonus!)—the hill up from Matlock town center is definitely a climb. Let’s just say you’ll have burnt off your dinner before you reach the house after walking back from town. Overall, this was a five-star stay!

Photos of the inside of this do not do it justice, it’s spacious and perfect for socialising with friends. The outdoor area is small but being December / January we didn’t use it much anyway. It is about a 25 minute walk to the town and main restaurants which is up/down a long hill. Overall a lovely stay that we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and recommend to friends.

House was beautiful, tastefully decorated and well equipped kitchen. Gorgeous views and beds were comfortable apart from the smallest double room which needs a new mattress. There isn't a lot of outside space but we didn't mind at this time of year. With children and a dog, wouldn't suit us in the warmer months. There is parking for 1 car round the back of the property which is tricky to maneuver in and out but we managed it. We would recommend the Sunday roasts at the Thorn Tree in Matlock and the staff were lovely.

Lovely property, very comfortable and clean with excellent amenities. The position of the house is at the top of a very steep hill, it has excellent views but a bit of a climb from town. No complaints apart from this and had a lovely stay anyway.

Excellent location, within walking distance of Matlock. Very clean and comfortable, beautiful house with original features and charm. Kitchen had all the essentials needed and comfortable sleep. Thank you host and stay they had a £25 charge for insurance against breakages which was a great weight of the mind with a dog 🐕 Will be returning!

What a beautiful home, spotlessly clean, everything thought of, and more…… beautiful fresh flowers and wine in the fridge. Our only small gripe, the additional insurance fee…. Add this in to the initial cost, or don’t add at all….. always better to be upfront, transparent with pricing. Other than that, we would not hesitate to recommend this place, and we will definitely be back. Thank you😀🙏

Rock End, Matlock was stunning to stay in. The decor was very modern but also in keeping with the houses age. All mod cons including an air fryer. With a lovely bathroom too The listing didn’t mention the steep and uneven depth steps into the front of the property; nor the very steep staircase to the rear. The on site parking was very tricky to navigate; reversing down a steep corner track; with no on street parking left close by if we couldn’t do this. Wellington Street is very very steep- only accessible on foot if you’re fit and well. Whilst the decor was amazing- there are sharp corners on the fireplaces and worktops; no safety options within the stairs for small children. Front bedrooms very bright in evening and early mornings during summer months. Our travel blackout blind was useless as windows so big

   Beautifully presented and well equipped house. Very clean. Fantastic views, including castle, from front bedroom. Outdoor space is small and paved, prettily presented with seating, but not ideal for larger dogs. There are a couple of green spaces for walking dogs close to the house however. Parking space is small and very difficult to access so we used street parking which was readily available. I’d suggest visitors look at the parking space before going down the little lane which leads to it as once in it is difficult to get out! Short walk to a good dog friendly pub serving food where they spoil your dogs with treats and fuss. Walk into Matlock is very steep so a car is recommended.

Beware. The company who manage this property charge an additional £25 for "damage waiver". They mention a charge deep in the description, but don't tell you the amount until a few days prior to your stay. Speaking to a neighbour, I don't think the owner knows that their property is listed on Airbnb. The company give inaccurate details about parking. You do have one space, but if you have anything other than a small car, it is really hard to access. You also need to reverse down a very tight back road to get in, and if the neighbour has their car parked next door, you simply can't park. There is a step metal stairway to the back door. There is no real on street parking unless you are very quick to grab one of the few spaces available. The "short 15 minute walk" to town is longer than this and down an incredibly steep hill. It certainly takes longer than 15 minutes on the way back. The house itself is clean but the mattress needs replacing and there is no garden to speak of.

Keep scrolling, find somewhere to stay that's hosted by a person and not an inflexible business. Also beware they charge an insurance fee on top of the Airbnb fee, supposedly for insurance cover, despite being fully protected through Airbnb host cover.

A gorgeous property & beautifully furnished. Relaxing spaces and comfy beds. The Kitchen had everything you could possibly need. We had a relaxing and peaceful stay here. It’s located on the top of a hill so had a beautiful view of the castle from the upstairs bedrooms. Would definitely recommend this place.
